"Exiting Green Park station is a visceral experience. There are buses, there’s beeping, there are circa half a million people attempting to enter Caffè Concerto. In situations like this you need respite and that’s exactly what Richoux provides. The brasserie first opened in 1909 but has been reinvented as a kind of inoffensive, central London comfort blanket. The interior is all white tablecloths and Sensodyne-coloured banquettes, and the menu is full of things that are just about decent. A chicken club sandwich and chips for around £15, a croque monsieur for less, and a tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream for pud. It’s not fantastic but it’s not foul either. It does the job. And sometimes that’s what you need when life is a million miles an hour." - Jake Missing

Food was good and was nice to have air conditioning in the summer heat. We came for the cruffins (muffin + croissant 🥐) and was a unique dessert. We wound up getting all three of the flavors they had out. It wasn’t too heavy and was nice and sweat. You can stop to buy them if you don’t have a reservation. Well worth it to try something different.

Absolutely worth the visit and bill! The afternoon tea set was fully a tasting adventure, not even slightly a tourist trap in otherwise so Piccadilly. We loved the fillings in sandwiches, wide range of sweet bites and freshly made scones..

Google
A first time in this revamped establishment and i was very impressed. The food and beverage prices were exceedingly reasonable despite the inflationary pressures and the service, although not perfect, was still very good. Overall the experience was excellent with great flavours and wonderful textures in all the plates. The lamb i had was melt in the mouth tender and the gateaux was soft and silky too. I really can’t fault anything i had. Overall i would say that Richoux is certainly the best on the block and worth a visit if you happen to have the misfortune is being stuck in the crowds on Piccadilly.

Wow what a little gem in the heart of London. A family friendly restaurant that offers Michelin quality food but at reasonable prices. My wife and I enjoyed their Afternoon Tea offerings. The sandwiches were absolutely divine. I wish I could have more. The patisserie was absolutely delicious and once again we wanted more. A nice selection of teas which can be refilled. The scones were light and once again so delicious. The kids enjoyed the special of the day Halibut which was so good my son wanted another one and my other son enjoyed the sea bream. All cooked to perfection. We felt like trying their cod goujons which were great as well. The vibe in the restaurant is lively and the service was excellent especially Rhianna who was great. The chicken is Halal which is excellent for us Halal foodies. Would I return absolutely but this time for dinner.

Google
Can't fault the food, service and setting. Went with family of four and we all enjoyed our dishes. Starters were great (I really enjoyed the onion soup), steak and lamb dishes were cooked exactly as requested and seasoned well, the sides complimented the mains and the desserts were spot on; scones were fresh, apple tart was moorish, and the chocolate cake velvety but not overly rich. Comfortable, with pretty seating booths which give privacy but don't detract from the buzz of the restaurant. Friendly and professional service.

Google
This was the first stop on the trending croissant tour on social media and honestly it goes downhill from this own. It just raised the bar TOO high. The service was great, the decor, the atmosphere, and ofc the cruffins 😍😍, we had a pot of tea and tried three flavours, the best was the white chocolate and caramel flavour. We saw people having afternoon tea here, will be back for that for sure!

Google
The cruffins are to die for! Try one of each flavour if you can but the hazelnut is my favourite! The prawn cocktail and chicken salad were also delicious! Advance booking is essential!

It’s a beautiful cafe/restaurant. Pastries are really tasty and nice and fresh. Staff are friendly and lovely. We had cinnamon rolls and coffee and tea and some extras which they all were delicious. I exceptionally liked the cinnamon rolls the most. Different to every other ones that I have tried before! We were lucky to find a seat outside when the weather was amazing and the view was enjoyable. 😊

Yelp
I've been on a mini adventure to try as many viral London pasties this week as I can and this one tops the list so far. They do change their favours so don't be surprised if what you see online flavours are now discontinued. The white chocolate cruffin was amazing. Bigger than I expected, fresh and flaky all the way through, with a really light cream inside. I had to stop myself from eating it all at once! Another massive win for this place was the customer service. The girl behind the counter was really sweet and gave me her recommendation (which was delicious!) Of all the famous bakeries I've been to, she had BY FAR the best customer service. Being a customer service exec from the States I can honestly say I truly appreciate seeing someone who seems to enjoy their job.

Cynthia V.

Yelp
Once you see the Cruffin on social media, consider yourself influenced and head here to get one. I found it more enjoyable than its cube counterpart a few minutes walk away. I came in between their meal service times so the small cafe section at the front was the only seating available, but no problem here, I only wanted a coffee and cruffin. Service was very friendly and fast. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and it is in a good location near the Green Park, so easy to get to. As for the cruffin, their flavors change regularly but when I went I opted for the raspberry and vanilla cream - it was amazing. The fruit balanced nicely with the cream and the whole cruffin is rolled in sugar, so it is a decadent treat!

Yelp
So we ended up having afternoon tea here on accident! We actually tried to go to Fortnum & Mason for afternoon tea because we were visiting from New York and my friend is vegan. However, we did not have reservations and they turned us away. We remembered passing a restaurant that had some delicious desserts in the window and walked back in that direction. We saw their afternoon tea menu and we were intrigued. We were able to get a table relatively quickly and we're instantly impressed with the restaurant. Everything was absolutely delicious, every sandwich every dessert and every drink everything was great. It was my first time having afternoon tea and I had a great time! I will definitely visit next time I am in London!

Damien O.

Yelp
I hear about the viral Cruffin and of course I had to stop by. Had the steak, fries and onion soup and all were incredible. Absolutely enjoyed my meal. Of course I had to ask for the cruffin and now i know why it's viral! it did not disappoint! It was light and airy and taste amazing. They have different flavors every week and I can tell you it doesn't matter what flavor you get because it's sooo good. Richoux is busy so just be prepared to handle the crowds. The ambiance is what you'd expect. Busy.

Yelp
Cute restaurant with good food but super slow service. French onion soup: so good. It's rich and decadent and just the perfect comfort food on a cold day Cod: perfectly cooked, tender silky fish Ribeye: didn't like this. It was like eating breakfast steak and eggs from Denny's Apple tarte tartin: this was really good. A bit on the sweet side but overall really good. Cruffin: I got a strawberry flavored one. I don't know about this cruffin. It was too dense. I thought it would be more like a cronut but this was very dense compared to that. The strawberry cream filling was good. Service: Nobody stopped to take our orders after a good 15min after we were seated. We struggled to flag down our server for everything. We were pretty much ignored the entire meal.

Rosalba G.

Yelp
Cute French spot with delicious pastries. I highly recommend the strawberry one with a cup of tea.

Dante M.

Yelp
The famous croissant muffins, popularly known as cruffins, has popped up in my Instagram explore page wayyyy too many times for me not to make this a priority food stop on my trip to London! The cafe is super modern, and they even have high tea offered! We stopped in and sat towards the front as we weren't dining in or anything. We ordered three different cruffins (all of the ones the had for the day), which included a banoffee, a peanut butter and jelly, and a hazelnut and praline. They were all super tasty, but our favorite was surprisingly the PB&J because of the contrast of sweet and salty. The cruffins is such a cool concept, and is actually a must try in the area! I loved my experience here, and if we had more time I definitely would have wanted to try their high tea and other pastries!

Lauren P.

Yelp
TLDR: I do not recommend this place for Asian tourists. I made a reservation for an afternoon tea with my mom while visiting London. After we ordered, we never saw our server again. No one asked us for more drinks or food. We had to flag down a server for good five minutes before we could get a bill. We sat next to two white French guys who had a server frequently come and ask them how's everything. The food was descent for the price but my mom and I definitely felt discriminated. Even though I mentioned this to a server while paying, no one came by our table to apologize.

Mary Y.

Yelp
I have came this restaurant late 1990s, and 2010. It was a lovely tea house. I was excited to come after 10+ years but it has been changed. I heard the owner changed last year and they became more " the restaurant" than "tea place". Cream tea - tea is served by a tea bag in a tea pot, not loose tea leaves, and scones are too soft, I'm wondering if they purchase from somewhere not baking here. It was disappointing that I don't have the same feeling before. The service is great and food looks great as a restaurant but I won't be able to take this place to enjoy afternoon tea anymore.

Ben L.

Yelp
The food was great, but the service was not. It was a busy time (albeit on a Wednesday at 1 pm) but seemed understaffed. The eggs benedict and fries were great though, and everyone I dined with enjoyed their food. The atmosphere was great, so maybe we just had a bad waitperson.

Barbara T.

Yelp
Charming place in the heart of Mayfair. We stopped by there for a birthday brunch for my sister. Good service, average food. The hollandaise souse was lucking the flavor due to overpowering presence of the vinegar on my eggs royale.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. We stopped by for a quick bite and if I lived here I would come here everyday. Get a Cruffin!!!! Service amazing, staff awesome, scenery was gorgeous. Il come back everytime I'm in the area!

Haley L.

Yelp
My husband and I wandered in here when we were walking by. Cute place! We decided we wanted to sit by the front so we could look out at the window and people watch. This was our first "afternoon tea" experience as we are from America. Great tea, one pot was enough for us to share. We also ordered the finger sandwiches which were delicious and came with cucumber, ham and cheese, salmon, and egg options. Lots of food for pretty cheap!

Andreas K.

Yelp
Even though this Tea House is not listed among the 27 best on Tripadvisor, it is high on MY list. Just across from Burlington Arcade, this French Tearoom has among the most wonderful scones to offer. The English tea culture unquestionably has unparalleled style and has occasionally been missed across the Atlantic pond. Richoux used to require a bit of patience to get in, which this time around was not that difficult. Just an excellent and quiet place to replenish.

Etz E.

Yelp
Got seated and took our orders. Half an hour later and still nothing. How long does it take to boil water or shoot some espresso? But we all worked it out and no hard feelings.

Nelly H.

Yelp
This place is extremely fancy and the food is delicious! They have a wide variety of desserts so it's a great place for not just a good lunch but an afternoon tea as well. The pricing is just fine, good for such a nice place. I definitely recommend this place to anyone passing by. It's very aesthetic and a beautiful place to eat. I tried their tiramisu and a bit of their strawberry cake. The tiramisu was a little heavy on the coffee, but was still one of the best ones I've ever had. The strawberry cake was light and airy and had the perfect texture for a shortcake.

Julia G.

Yelp
I frequently eat here when I am in London for work, as my hotel is around the corner. Food is always good, the atmosphere is refined, it is reasonably priced for the area and the staff are lovely. I feel very comfortable eating here alone, which is important if I am traveling for work, and the staff have always been very good about that. I love the onion soup, beef carpaccio and salads. Very solid choice in Piccadilly!

Orion A.

Yelp
Richoux looks pretty fancy and spacious on the inside. I only came here for hot chocolate and a vanilla cheesecake. The prices for them were just fine. Although, if you're getting lunch the price range will surely range from £11-15 as I took a small peak at the lunch menu. I can't really say much for the lunch menu because I only really ordered desserts. Everything I ordered was good!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Great service and food. I was so impressed with how accommodating the place was when a friend ended up joining us.

Ted G.

Yelp
Nice little place with a French air to it. Food is really good and so is the coffee. Not too expensive and didn't have to wait too long for a table!

Camille L.

Yelp
The place is really beautiful, and that's enjoyable. We ordered an afternoon tea, which is made of finger sandwiches, scones, a pastry and a tea (or hot chocolate). The food was excellent, and we couldn't even finish! If I ever come back to London, I'll definitely make another stop here!

Suanne L.

Yelp
I couldn't go to London without sampling an authentic high tea, could I? My friends suggested Richoux, which is supposedly French, but I just followed the locals and suspended by disbelief. The exterior is bright red and classy, and the inside feels very art deco old money pretty. The ceiling is stained glass and the carpets are lush. That said, the restaurant was on the dim side and certain elements of the service made the experience a little less posh, but still good. That said, please don't come in with flip flops, shorts, or tank tops... You would feel awkward. My table ordered the traditional afternoon tea, which comes with finger sandwiches (smoked salmon, egg mayonnaise, cucumber chicken), warm baby scones, strawberry preserve and Cornish clotted cream, rich fruit cake and a pastry with tea, coffee or a mug of hot chocolate. Each person got their own pot of tea and we opted for extra scones. I loved the baby scones - they were the perfect size for tea and to avoid carbing it up too much. They were buttery and fluffy, but I could have skipped on the raisins mixed in. The sandwiches were good, but a little dry. I was expecting open faced sandwiches, but they were full sandwiches with bread on both sides. I loathed the fruit cake, but I've never been a fan anyway. Others at the table who are not so averse to fruitcake said it was tasty. And the raspberry pastry (that looked like a giant macaron) was fantastic. I also really enjoyed my Richoux "own blend" of breakfast tea, which was smooth and well rounded without being steeped too long. The Richoux Earl Grey was also tasty with good notes of bergamot. However, I found the jasmine tea to be too bland, with not enough fragrance to make it distinctive. (Yes, I know its supposed to be a light tea. This was basically drinking hot water.) The service was mediocre. While we had a reservation and the restaurant was only 20% occupied, we still had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. When we were seated, one of the chairs was covered in powdered sugar. Since my group was a little young and a bit casual, I felt that service was a bit disdainful of us, even though were were not being loud or disruptive. (Perhaps we didn't order enough for them?) Our tea and food came after a 20 minute wait and they let us leisurely enjoy our tea, but it did take a while to get the check. The price is good, especially if you're splitting the tea among a party of 4. But if you're a small party, it will feel very expensive until "tea" really means "lunch" to you.

Keith T.

Yelp
A fantastic restaurant offering the best afternoon tea in London. Forget the Savoy or the Ritz this is the place to be. The place is steeped in history and the decor is truly wonderful (Chinese inspired). Ideally located to Fortnum and Masons, Picadilly and the Royal Academy. This is one of those rare places where you could truly forget you are in the center of London.

Douglas A.

Yelp
This is a solid but relatively unremarkable cafe and bakery. It is quite large on the inside and it is convenient to the Green Park tube station. Prices were moderate given its location in an exclusive shopping area along Piccadilly. I stopped there for an early afternoon lunch. The salad with grilled chicken was quite large but a bit salty. My companion had a crisp baguette with perfectly cooked roast beef and some chips. They have a very large display of French baked goods at the front of the restaurant and a smallish bar in the rear. Service was unobtrusive and reasonably responsive. The front of the house was a bit of a shambles with the hostess running about doing multiple jobs from bar service to backing up servers which is fine except they weren't that busy. Less pricey than some of their neighbors, convenient, clean, and adequate.

Caroline F.

Yelp
I went here for breakfast yesterday morning and it is really expensive. We ended up just getting hot chocolates which were £3.75 each but so delicious. They were like the thick syrupy ones you get when you're in France and Spain, really moorish. The menu was expensive though, breakfast bagels started at £6 and went up to £10. The interior is completely beautiful though, lush red velvet seats, marble top tables and paneled walls makes you feel like you're straight out of an up-market Parisian cafe. The waitresses were very nice and really efficient. They never rushed us once despite the huge queue at the door, a sign of really good service in my mind. It only ends up 75p more expensive than a starbucks signature hot chocolate so I'll definitely be back.

Nigel M.

Yelp
Unlike its moniker, Richoux is not a French cafe, but a pretty typical English cafe. Part of a small chain, this one is on Piccadilly Rd, and provides a pleasant oasis to escape the shopping precinct. Food is standard English fare. I had the Welsh Rarebit (a bit ordinary) and a surprisingly good espresso. The house specialty is definitely the assortment of patisserie and desserts, including Rich Fruit cake, Baked Apple pie, waffles and a great variety of fruit tarts, creamy cakes, Etc. For a traditional English afternoon tea indulge in their"Traditional Afternoon Tea" consisting of finger sandwiches with smoked salmon, egg mayonnaise, cucumber and chicken followed by warm baby scones with strawberry preserve and Cornish clotted cream, also a rich fruit cake followed by one of the patisserie. Follow this up with a choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Overall, a lovely British experience, with just the correct ambience, let down by indifferent service and very average food.

Paul W.

Yelp
Came with a friend for high tea. Fun but some issues. The food quality was uneven. Some of the finger sandwiches had stale sides being made well ahead of time. Overall they were very good to excellent. Scones were an embarrassment and they only offered strawberry jelly! Not even marmalade. My carrot cage dessert was terribly dry. The tea was good but a bit oversteeped. Nice ambiance and decent service.

Chris K.

Yelp
This was a very elegant restaurant, but the food was a hit and miss. Escalope of Chicken Milanese was perfectly cooked, juicy and very tasty. Spaghetti accompanied it was full of flavour and was cooked al dente. The portion was generous. Traditional Home Made Fish & Chips had thin crispy coating and tasted fine - they used haddock, so the texture was soft. Chips were limp skinny fries, and were not hot. Tartar sauce was just like vinegary salad cream. Mushy Peas were tasty but again were not hot. Scone tasted and smelled strongly of baking powder, and was too dry. Éclair au Cafe had light and tasty cream inside, and the texture was perfect. The presentation needed to be improved by adding some garnish on each dish. A couple next to our table was complaining about the food, so you need to choose the dishes carefully - but how?

Emily K.

Yelp
I stopped in here on a whim for a light afternoon tea. I had originally been planning to go somewhere else, but typical London weekend tube problems prevented that. Still craving tea with scones and clotted cream, specifically, I suddenly noticed this place and saw that the Cream Tea was only about 9 quid. Sold. So I sat down in a slightly dark, but relaxed, atmosphere of Art Deco. The service was quick and friendly, more than I can say for most service I've encountered in London. The scones were soft and warm--perfect--with just the right amount of clotted cream to go with them too. It was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly and I certainly have no qualms about going back again and trying out the rest of the menu.

Rochelle R.

Yelp
I promised the next time I would visit London, I HAD to do afternoon tea. We had looked through our Yelp mobile for some good leads, but all the sites mentioned all looked far from any Underground stations. We spent way too much on cab fare in Italy, so we didn't want to do that in London. It was raining one afternoon as we ended a day of sightseeing. As we walked toward the bus stop to head back to our hotel, we noticed a cute little restaurant, Richoux. The sign said they had afternoon tea. To wait out the rain, we headed on in. The inside was cozy and really nicely decorated. It felt very British. The place looked promising. We ordered the afternoon tea, of course. Sadly, we were very disappointed. The sandwiches were a little dry and nothing spectacular. The tea was just average and the scones were eh, and the desserts were not memorable. We were terribly disappointed especially since we were in London so we were expecting to be wow'd. Next time we'll have to do better research ahead of time.

Kelly B.

Yelp
The quintessential posh english (ok it's french but the decor and ambience is what I am referring to) tea room to go for a pot of tea and a hot chocolate! Not somewhere you would come for your morning coffee on your way to work. I went late evening and although we weren't eating, they sat us in the dining room which had lots of dark wood, patterned wallpaper and floral prints. The hot chocolate looked more like melted chocolate, the sort you would fine in Spain and the tea, well what can you do wrong with a pot of green tea? A nice place to wander past and go in to get out of the cold and have a good natter, not somewhare I would go for food, think it would be too expensive as the 2 drinks were about £8. Makes a pleasent change from usual coffee chains.

Chris W.

Yelp
Seated right away without reservation. Outstanding food. I had the refs Royale which was eggs Benedict but with smoked salmon instead of Taylor ham and it was delicious.

Komal B.

Yelp
Stepping in here is like being swept away to Paris in the 1920s. I'm ordinarily a minimalist but I love the fussy floral red wallpaper and the green velvet banquettes. We stopped in for lunch on a weekday on our way to the museums because red-fronted French bistros whisper to me of eras and times gone by. We literally jumped off the bus when it stopped in front of Richoux because it looked so inviting. It's not cheap because they probably pay a ridiculous rent for the location but there are lots of tasty options for under £10. For example, the grilled goat's cheese with caramelised onions and tomatoes on toast is divine and costs less than £6. The onions are sweet and well-cooked (if a tad too acidic for my taste), the tomatoes are nicely grilled and the goat cheese is deliciously rich. It was topped with a drizzle of a creamy cilantro sauce, which made all the difference. The substantial soup bowl and a side of baguette will fill you up, unless you're a football player or think you need to eat like one. I did see tourists at a table nearby having afternoon tea and I wondered why on earth anyone would seek out a typical English tradition in a French bistro. I also several solo diners of advanced age who looked like they'd been coming there for years, which gave me confidence in the food and added to the feeling of being whisked back to old Paree. If I was in the neighborhood again, I'd definitely return.

Eleonora Z.

Yelp
Sorry guys but it has been pretty disappointing. I have been quite few times there (i guess four, not sure though). Everytime was nice. There were a couple of Italian waiters and bartenders and an Italian Manager. They were very nice, not only with me, but with every customer in the place. Also there was a lovely spanish girl, very helpful when you needed to choose which dessert/tea you wanted. If it was for them I would have written a 4stars review, but... My last time has been AWFUL. I wanted to have a lovely cake I saw at the entrance with fruit on it. So i looked at the menu and there was: "fruit cake. Fresh cake made with fruit, served with fruit". Well it's a damn fruit cake, i thought.... NO! I received this brown piece of wood and I asked what was that. The waitress (in a very rude way) said it was the fruit cake. I then asked where the fruit was and she replied "inside" and run away. I then asked to another waiter where the fruit was and he said again inside. I then asked which kind of fruit was inside and they said "nuts". WTF? There was written fruit on the menu not nuts. I then asked to have a fruit cake and that i didn't want to eat that cake. The waiter called the manager who was rude and upset when I said I wanted fresh fruit. He stared to argue with my, saying I didn't understand English as on the menu there is written fruit, and nuts are fruit and so on. After a while I was so disappointed I asked for a Fruit salad. He took me to the counter and showed three fruit salad and in a sarcastic way he started to say that I had to choose which fruit salad I wanted as he had no intentions to bring another dish back as he was so busy. I was speachless. I agree that maybe I was a little picky as I wanted fresh fruit, but I was a customer who has to pay for what is asking. Why was the manager so rude with me? I mean he could have just asked me what was wrong, explained me in a good and polite way about the "language difficulties" (are we serious about this?) and change me the nuts-cake for a fruit salad and that could have been it. I was so disappointed by this last experience. Sorry guys, bad experience

Minnie M.

Yelp
It's a "French" cafe the same way you would call Pret a "French" cafe. Nice try disguising yourself, you are totally a British establishment! Kedgeree was very very stodgy, so slathered in cream I could only eat half of it. The fish was rubbery and the bread tasteless. Honey cheesecake and pear cake were just okay. Overall, just stay away. There are plenty of better cafes out there.

Sam S.

Yelp
Found this place walking around on a Sunday morning looking for a place to have breakfast. It's got a bit of history and has grand interiors. Food is ok and they have a really nice vegetarian breakfast with veg sausages. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable for that part of London. Would go back here again.

Snow P.

Yelp
The scones were dry and the service snooty. If you want better scones/service at a lower cost I'd recommend the V&A or British Museum. Also, when I wanted to add hot water to my tea pot they charged me £1 - for free tap water. Such weasels.

Grant M.

Yelp
Great place , servicing breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea located next the Piccadilly arcade

Rodger S.

Yelp
Wonderful experience here. We felt like we were having lunch in Paris when we ate at this charming restaurant today. My goat cheese salad was perfect & Tom had no complaints about his eggs Benedict. Crowning it off was a decadent slice of chocolate cake with caramel swirling through it. Magnifique!

Dusty H.

Yelp
Have been to London 3 times in 34 years, and each time we stop at this Richoux to have fish and chips. It started when we stayed around the corner at the Cavendish in 1983, and - when pressed for lunch suggestions - our tour guide asked, "Have you been to Richoux?" And so our fun little "tradition" began, and each time it's as delish as we remember. This past month we were lucky to be staying in London nearby for our 3rd visit to Richoux, and it did not disappoint. Courteous waitstaff, great location...the menu is loaded with other promising options but we only think of the delectable fish and chips!

Rebecca R.

Yelp
I don't know what everyone is talking about. I'm from New York City and know good food. The scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and toast as well as the afternoon tea for one to share was all delicious. This was accompanied by great service in a beautiful atmosphere. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting London. It's situated in a great shopping strip.

Yelp
I returned to Richoux, a few days ago, many years since my last visit. Amazingly, nothing had really changed, the elaborately pretty, red-and-green, chinoiserie-style décor remained. Not sure I recollect the menu from my early visits as a youngster but it seemed fairly true to its origins. There were some creative 'modernised' starters that almost tempted us into eating, although on a cold and drizzly November night, all we really wanted was a warming drink and a cosy place to chat. After much perusing, umming-and-aahing, we (boringly?) just opted for a pot of tea each (at £2.70). I was quite surprised when it arrived in a very stained 'stainless-steel' pot, which had seen far better days (mine didn't even close properly) - rather than elegant china, which would have been far more in keeping with the setting and ethos. The floor beneath our table had remnants from a previous customer's breakfast jam jar lids. Recommended as a useful stopping-off point for a (relatively) traditional cup of tea, or a snack, when you're seeking an antidote, or contrast, to the plethora of modern chains. A little disappointing in certain areas and attention to detail.

Didier C.

Yelp
No idea about the black pudding: it's tea time. Need to come back for the breakfast. Keep you posted.

Paul G.

Yelp
A long standing institution. Very popular - you may have to wait. A nice continental feel inside, with a brasserie style menu of club sandwiches, omelettes, rarebit, etc., as well as the full Monty of afternoon tea. On a recent visit we had kedgeree, and chicken risotto. Regrettably both were incredibly bland. Not cheap either, at £36 for two with drinks. We'll try somewhere else next time - the Wolsey, Fountain and St Jacques are all a stones throw away.

Yelp
Our friends who have been visiting London for over 30 years just raved about this restaurant. French food is not my favorite, but I decided to go along with our group of 4. First we were seated at a tiny table where we hardly had room to breathe because our chairs were so close to the other tables. Next, it was about 10 minutes until our order was taken. It took 20 minutes just for us to get some water. Our waiter was acting like it was all a joke. The other young waiter was acting like he was pissed about everything. Another table asked him for water. I watched him roll his eyes and slam the pitcher and glasses on the bar where he was getting water. After that another 20-30 minutes to get our food, which was actually just mediocre. I had to add salt and pepper to the risotto, something I never need to do in other restaurants. Lastly, my husband asked for the bill. We waited again. Finally, he walked over near the stairs to ask for the bill again. Our young waiter was walking up the stairs reading something on his smartphone. Sorry, if you want return business have someone there managing these young men who were totally incompetent. We won't be returning.

Yelp
Went here for afternoon tea with my friend. We got seated right away but we had to ask them to take our order 25 minutes later. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. The service was absolutely terrible!!

Yelp
We stopped here twice, once for lunch and once for afternoon tea. The French onion soup is delectable and the scones for tea are freshly baked. Prices are reasonable for London. The service is excellent as well.

Yelp
the service was fantastic. Also waiters and waitresses were so kind for me. If i have afternoon tea, i would choose here again.

Yelp
Rude, highly unprofessional greeter and staff that are at best aloof and at worst obnoxious. We had a larger group (10) coming in for lunch but were told in a curt tone to wait, it would just be 10-20 minutes. We had three kids with us in the group. After 20 minutes they still refused to seat us despite many tables being visibly open and ready for service. They finally jammed us into the front end but left us one chair short. When asked for a chair the greeter simply said we don't have any, you will just have to make due. We tried to seat ourselves but then waited another five minutes before anyone even came over with menus. We then left. There are so many better choices on Picadilly, as we luckily discovered, just a few doors down. There is just no reason to come here with a group.
