The 12 Best Restaurants in Casablanca, Morocco | Eater

"You’ve probably heard of Rick’s Cafe, Humphrey Bogart’s gambling parlor in the film Casablanca. The restaurant really does exist, though it only opened in 2004 as homage to the fictional version. Despite the restaurant’s youth, it will still transport you back in time with its grand interior and menu of classic international dishes like black pepper filet mignon or sea bass with saffron rice. The restaurant also has a full bar menu with cocktails. Delivery and takeaway available. [$$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

A great experience. Make sure you book as not guaranteed a table. We booked a couple of weeks ahead of our planned visit to Casablanca. Lovely abience in the restaurant with the piano playing in the background. The food is a little above average nothing exceptional. A small menu. As other reviews have said service not in your face. Well worth a visit if you are here.

Solo traveller. Visiting Rick’s was an essential for my visit to Casablanca. I know the movie wasn’t made here but still. It’s the vibe and experience I was after. Travelling as a single older lady sometimes tosses up the odd barriers. There was none of that here. The meal was excellent, well balanced flavours and beautifully presented. Service impeccable and friendly without being in your face. The staff are rightly proud of the business and very happy to show you around if you are interested and willing. Having said that I was there for lunch. I don’t know how you would go in the evening. The movie is running on repeat in a very comfortable lounge upstairs if you are inclined to sit there and watch with your post meal coffee. Thank you to the staff for being so kind and inviting. I enjoyed my visit very much.

You must make a reservation, but.... We showed up at 1830 when they opened and asked if we could sit at the bar. Turns out the bar seating is first come first served. You can also order the complete menu at the bar. My wife loved tge espresso martini. The barrata salad was excellent, and the beef stroganoff was delicious. The bartender and staff were extremely professional and friendly. The place has a great vibe. I definitely recommend 👌.

We are a romantic pair who love to travel, and although I wouldn’t have flown to Casablanca solely to visit this nostalgic icon, the moment we found a cruise stopping here, I booked lunch without hesitation. I’m so glad we did and thank you to Sara who stepped up at the office to make this happen. We began with the local oysters, they are size one, beautifully fresh, but certainly not for the faint-hearted or first-time tasters. We then shared the lamb special, and I say this without exaggeration: it was the finest lamb we’ve ever eaten. For dessert, we enjoyed Rick’s cheesecake and their take on an apple tart, both absolutely delicious. Everything was accompanied by Champagne cocktails, an excellent Moroccan red, and a touch of French Champagne to finish. It all came together perfectly. A final word of thanks to our waiter,Sifedeene, who looked after us with grace, warmth and genuine care. His quiet professionalism added so much to the experience, and we’re grateful for it. We leave with full hearts and wonderful memories. Rick’s Café truly lived up to its legend.

Went to the famous Rick’s Café in Casablanca, inspired by the movie, and it was such a cool experience—especially if you’re a fan. They had the film playing and live piano music, which really brought the whole place to life. I ordered the tomahawk steak and it came out cooked exactly to the temperature we asked for. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was incredible. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Casablanca.

The place is very elegant, the interior design very pleasing, and every detail was taken care of. The staff very helpful. Altogether- highly recommended. However the food could be better - I ordered grilled fish which was salty to my taste, my husband’s pasta was a bit flavourless, too creamy, served not warm enough. Anyway, we would go there again.

Entering Rick’s Cafe, we were impressed by the Moroccan decoration as well as the staff uniform that were similar to that in the movie Casablanca as well. The bartender had the bow tie while the waiters had the cool Moroccan hat with tassels. As we were being seated, the famous tune “As Time Goes By” was playing and that really brought us back to how we’d imagine the set of the movie to be. We were seated just outside the courtyard with direct views of the Moroccan lamp and high ceilings in the Riad – the only seat in the house to have these views. Across from us, we could see the piano, double bass and drum set that resembled those used in the movie... Wonderful experience. Was so busy. Reservation recommended or you might not get in if too busy. Service was fantastic. Food was amazing. Prices reasonable. Would return if back in Casablanca. Highly recommend even just for photos and the experience.
