Rick & Carolyn's Burgers & Fries

So GOOD!!! Family restaurant vibe with fresh ingredients, a great menu, and ice cream included. My wife and I enjoyed a Big Bacon 🥓 cheeseburger , and Steak fingers. The fries were fresh and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The tea was also high quality, not the quick mix stuff. If looking for a burger place that tastes AMAZING, try them out.

First time visiting Rick and Carolyn’s but I can say I will be back. The restaurant is clean and fresh inside with the staff being friendly and welcoming. I picked up some onion rings to take home and they were delicious. The prices are comparable to other restaurants but it seems there is more value here for the buck. Don’t miss out on this local gem of a dinning establishment.

Amazing place the woman was really nice and walked around every now and then to make sure everyone was good. The food was just great, they have those real potato fries not the processed ones, the ketchup bottle was a bit hard to use but you just have to push a bit hard. They even had free ice cream for everyone after they ate and not that expensive of a place. 10/10 this place is amazing.

Big burger was cooked too perfection. So big I couldn't finish it. Fries and tots were good but the onion rings were outstanding freshly battered and cooked too order. Cheese sticks were also really good. Ooooo the chili!!!!!! Must try. Staff was so nice plenty of seating. FREE ICE CREAM

Always friendly. Fresh food. They’re quick. The burgers are really good. The chicken fry. Steak fingers. Fries,tots and onion rings are all very good. Big portions.

Great little place to get a burger and fries. Great service, great food, and very friendly atmosphere. Burgers we very flavorful and the complimentary ice cream was amazing! We will definitely return to try the other menu items. Highly recommend!!!

We were looking for a good burger place in Abilene and we found it! The food was great. We both had combos that came with fries, a drink, and an ice cream cup. The portions were generous, and we feel like we got more than our money's worth. We will definitely be back!

I went to go eat there last once and it was so so good. The burger was humongous and so delicious. It was served fast. I love that they have ice and sweet tea.

When had been traveling the last few days and decided to order burgers from Rick & Caroline's. Both burger combos were delicious! They had even made the onion rings well done. From placing the order to picking it up... very easy and pretty quick. As stated we picked our food up and brought it home, everything was there, even salt and pepper packs, napkins and correct drinks! Thanks for a great burger!!

My 11-year-old son and I ate here today for lunch. I had a bacon quarter pounder, and my son had chicken strips with fries. Of course, we both had complementary ice cream at the end of our meals. And...while no restaurant is perfect, we have no idea how this place was only rated 3.6 out of 5 when we came here for lunch today. Our lunch today was way above average, and we WILL be back!!

I have eaten at Rick & Carolyns for many years. Never had a bad meal! Tonight was the chicken fried chicken There is no restaurant in Abilene area that has better fried chicken than here except my house. Everyone who works here is top notch. I hope they never change

One of the better chicken fried steaks in Abilene. The burgers are big and very good, fries are good but limp. Always friendly service,just an excellent place to eat

Rick & Carolyn's is everything a small, family owned restaurant should be. Everything is made fresh to order. The onion rings are hand battered, but the kid's chicken strips are not. The burgers are well seasoned and delicious. You go to the counter to order, then your meal is delivered to your table.

This is sad. This used to be my favorite burger place and my dad's before me. I picked up an order there yesterday that was so bad that I wil never go back. My choice of sides was completely ignored. I asked for tater tots and found fries when I got home. They were burned to a crisp, stone cold in a puddle of grease, and had to be a week old. Two little packs of catsup for a large order. I tried heating them up, bad smelling, into the trash as I didn't want either me or my little dog to get sick. Then the shake. overfilled in a styrofoam cup. It leaked all over the cupholder, the inside of my walker, and dripped all the way to the kitchen. I had to wrap it in paper towels to drink it. Some will not come off of my floor. I didn't even care about the burger after that. The final blow, I was not offered the free ice cream!

Great service, great place to eat. I loved the chicken fried steak. I would like to recommend this place to all my fellow VETERANS!

Great good, service, and location. We have been eating there for a couple of years and always enjoy it. My husband loves their burger and I love their BLT.

Enjoyed a LARGE bacon cheese burger with tots and onion rings. Tasty, filling meal, will enjoy again.

Food is amazing the burgers. The burgers are thick and juicy. The service is always great. The ladies know how to take care of you. The restaurant is always clean including the restrooms.

If you've been before and weren't satisfied GO BACK!!! We had the steak fingers and fried okra included a drink and ice cream. It was the special today for 10.99$ please go and support this local business. The dining room is OPEN. Crystal was the waitress and was great.

Crystal was an amazing server! The steak finger dinner was delicious and the okra was some of the best okra I've had. Also: they have caffeine free root beer! All meals come with a free ice cream (and it's lactose free!)

Yes!!!!! Yummmm! Their buns are toasted perfectly, just enough to be barely crisp & not at all burnt. The meat and cheese is incredibly fresh and tastes better than homemade even (sorry hubs) Kids burgers are huge, and the service is super friendly, small town feel. Bacon on my burger was perfect too, thick & cooked through but not at all burnt. I'm pretty picky and they passed with flying colors. Can't wait to go back.

Rick n Carolyn's on S. Pioneer makes handmade patties, they even use REAL steak for chicken fry steak & steak fingers. On 4th Saturday evening of EVERY month they have old car show or all that have od cars bring up, park so you can look at & enjoy. I just like to go anytime to enjoy food & wonderful staff.

I had their quarter pound burger with everything, but the extras and their waffle fries. I thought their fries were pretty crispy on the outside, smooth in the middle. The burger was pretty basic. I like Heff's burgers better.

Food is always amazing. The service tonight is questionable. All of the employees complained about having customers this evening. They obviously forget this is what keeps them having a job! I usually have great service in here. Two of the staff members started fussing at each other. I know they wouldn't act like this if the owner was here. He shouldn't have to be here all the time though. Hopefully the next time I come here will be better.

I just had the most awful expwrience with this place. I ordered food from them thru Arrowhead delivery. Arrowhead, did its job well. The woman who delivered our food was a cute blonde. I say this because its important. We begin eating said food. And I find a hair in it. A dark either beard, armpit, or pubic hair. I call them to complain and the manager said it was Arrowhead's fault. It was an issue with their delivery driver. Talk about passing the buck. Talk about not taking responsibility. I have lived in many large and small cities and towns and never have I ever encountered that kind of disrespect for a customer. To not accept that inside the burger was said offensive hairand deny it happened in their kitchen.

Best fries in town. Fair chicken fried steak. Slightly pricey for the quantity and quality, but I visit weekly.

10/10. This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Food is delicious! It is clean, kid-friendly, I just love it! It's also so pretty inside and the workers are kind and respectful. The chicken burger with fries will always be my favorite! The ice- cream is free after your meal, it is so good and cheap!!!

Mike said R & C has free ice cream. Well, that's a decision maker when it comes to picking lunch. Haven't been here in years but it was close so why not. Your typical burger and fries place, I ordered the bacon cheeseburger that turned out to be very good. Fries were limp and not crispy. And then we got free ice cream! Mike was so happy. For the price, a good place to go but there are lots of good burger places in Abilene.

Great burgers and friendly service. This locally owned business is an Abilene treasure. If you want a great burger, this is the place.

I would not recommend this place after my experience with them today. Sad part is everyone thought it was okay for the manager on duty to treat me the way she did today. She was EXTREMELY rude and closed their drive thru doors in my face. Also made it a point to say she was the manager and that her parents own the company, as if this excuses her behavior. I came here quite a bit and the person I believed to be the owner has always been so kind to me and my children, He's even given them free shakes and will carry on conversations with my children while we wait on our food. We are a military family as well so unfortunately we will not be coming back after today. My friend who i was on the phone with heard the entire interaction between me and this employee. She was rude right off the back. I asked her questions about the burgers and she was snappy then.. She had no right rushing me take my order, And she was so unprofessional. This is sad because 2 K9s were called as if i was being aggressive. People of my skin complexion DIE everyday because of people like this woman today. I've never been treated the way I was today at this location, My children ask for their shakes and food because they love it! After all, IF This woman's a Manager she needs more training and to learn how to treat people. I continued to ask for the owners number or a way to contact them as well, she refused to give me either multiple times. THIS COMPANY WILL NOT BE SEEING US AS CUSTOMERS ANYMORE.

This is a great family owned restaurant. Burgers, sandwiches, chicken fried steak. I stop in at least once a week. Great service and good value for the price.

This was the best burger I have had in years. Great service great people. Mom said her chicken fried steak was best she had had also.

Nothing is wrong with the food. However on this particular day the drive through was slow. I don't know why. Other than that everything here was good and the server was polite. Maybe it was just a slow day or they were short handed. If you are willing to wait, then try this place. I would not consider it a fast food restaurant on this trip. Maybe other days it's faster. Seems like going inside is a faster choice.

Well, If you are following me on FaceBook, Tweeter, or here on Yelp your getting the idea this Ol'Boy like to eat! You'd be right. One of my fav's in town in Rick & Carolyn's. I've said it before and say it again LOVE THEM This one is the one I go to the most when I go. I encourage you to check them out if you've not already done so.

Love this place obviously people don't understand quality food takes time always worth the wait to me until you truly worked fast food you wouldn't understand why things happen I go there 3 times a week I'm sweet and they are sweet back wouldn't go any where else but here !

I love this place. The burgers are always good, the staff is always friendly to me, and the speed is always what I would expect for what is delivered to my table. My favorite items are the Big Burger and the Frito pie. Onion rings are also awesome. If you are in town, give it a try.

I hate to give it a 3 because the food is delicious, I've had it before. I'm writing this as I'm sitting in my car, as I have been for over 30 minutes. There is 1 person inside that came about 15 mknutes after me that already received her food and a few that seem to have preordered going through the drive thru. There is absolutely NO reason it should take this long for my order. Get more staffing if the ones inside can't handle the flow of customers, please! Edit: I'm bumping it up to 4 stars because I got home and the food was fresh and hot. Just fix the staffing issue and your business would be superb

Always great food. You wait a bit longer than at the chain joints, but it's worth it.

Couldn't give a negative review, but we waited 15 minutes at the counter. Lady said "I will be right with you" and never came back. The cook was slammed with orders. Drive thru kept getting their orders, she neglected the counter. Too bad, it smelled delicious but not worth the wait.

Im sorry but I just dont get it. I took my kids out for a treat and we got dry chewy burgers, old fries, and attitude from the counter person. I eat out alot - but this place is off my list for sure!!!

Burgers very good but don't recommend their other menu items. Never impressed with service. I always feel like I am interrupting the staff when I step to the counter. Just seems a sour atmosphere and no one looks happy to be there. No longer frequent this establishment and it is just blocks from home.

Horrible service!! Waiting 30+ minutes for burgers & I finally got off my car and went inside and the rude girl handed me my food that was just sitting on the counter! Fast food isn't rocket science all she had to do was not be lazy and walk my food outside! This will be the last time I give this location my service!

The first thing is....the fries used to be thick home made looking and well seasoned..now they are thin and not very appetizing. The prices have skyrocketed to almost $10 for a burger combo. The hamburgers are not near as good now. The meat used to be seasoned and the hamburgers tasted extradionary. I went to the South Pioneer location,,,it was so hot inside the restraurant that I could hardly eat and was glad to leave. When we asked the employee about the temperature..she just shrugged. I ordered chicken fried steak which was pretty much hard and tasteless....very little gravy and it had no flavor also. The salad is horrible and the French fries were thin and had no seasoning. The price of this meal was almost $10. It is ridiculous how they have gone down in quality, but up in price!

This is the best burger place in Abilene! It is not over priced..maybe a dollar or two more than whjataburger...but is well worth it....The meat is not patties, but more like home-made...The fries are home-made like and the taste is incredible! They have lots of other food, too..although the Big Burger Combo is my favorite...You also get free ice cream..the restuarant is clean and the service is fast..I highly recommend this restaurant.

if i could give no stars i would totally do it! this is my second review of R&C on pioneer, i don't see how they have business! i'm still speechless from what happened to me 2wks ago at lunch. i was craving their DELICIOUS corn dogs & headed to the drive thru. i knew it may take a lot longer than that what it should to fry corn dogs but i was willing to wait. i pull up the menu board & i hear a voice say, "i'm sorry, we are not taking drive thru orders right now". I'm in shock, it's a friday around 12:45, the parking lot looked full but i figured they were about to all leave as lunch rush was almost done. i just sat there for a few seconds thinking i heard her wrong. she was still on the speaker & she said something, i can't recall because of the shock, probably repeated herself. i said ok & drove off. i just don't get it, do they want to go out of business at this location? just shut it down if you don't want to serve your customers! i will probably visit R&C some day (at a totally different location) but right now i'm refusing to go there anytime soon.

What happened?! This place used to be the best! Sure, the prices have always been on the higher side, but the food was good enough to back them up. Now, a lot of things have changed and it's really disappointing. The price of food is still high as can be, but the quality of the food has decreased significantly. If I wanted cheap, frozen chicken, I'd go to the grocery store. I expect restaurant quality food at a restaurant. The last several times I stopped by for a drink, my cup was packed with ice. The first couple times it happened, I thought it might be a coincidence. All ice, no drink. Today I watched the woman make my drinks and she packed that ice in the cup so tight I thought she was going to break the cup! I had her re-do them. And all this was after she got the drinks I wanted wrong. Somehow Mountain Dew became root beer and then Pepsi. I am severely disappointed in rick and Carolyn's. Shame on the owners for letting their quality drop so tremendously.
