Rickette's

They used to be delicious, now they are so lazy they give you steal food from the other day mess up your orders and your food is cold. They literally just gave me an order that was not picked up from yesterday. Put it in the microwave for 30 seconds and sent it to my My Home! I didn’t even want any. I wanted it on the side because I don’t care for it and yet they still did it. This is the second time I will never be shopping from there again.

I will try keep this short and honest this is not to bash the establishment this is just honest review the pork rib tips taste so plain no smoke taste no bbq taste ribs taste left over or recooked chicken was decent not even bettter then Popeyes they put too much sauce to enjoy it and the chicken wings were pretty huge the sauce is horrible it’s sweet as ever don’t taste like mild sauce I immediately felt sick after eating this place didn’t even finish my food I tossed what I couldn’t eat I will not be returning.. i always say how can you claim you a real bbq place but we don’t see or smell no smoke in the air haha goodbye

4.5/5 stars. Ordered via doordash. They got my order right and it was fresh obviously. Very very good. The onlyyyy thing is i feel the sauce was thicker last time. I like that sticky iggy feeling on my fingers. Finger lickin good, no kfc type. Still great tho. 👍🏻 Gpan- mixed and a reg. fried okra

Rickette’s just exposed themselves. I ordered this meal with mild sauce on the wings and fries. ( see picture 3). It came without the sauce on it. Y'all this food is old. Look at the fries. Look at the bread. The bread got some sauce on it. They took the bread and fries off something they had left over from a day or two ago. I ordered this food only 30 minutes ago. This is so disgusting. This is going in the trash. I don't trust how long this food was in the restaurant. I requested my money back from ubereats and will make food at home instead.

This is actually my third or fourth visit to this establishment,and the food remains to impress me. The customer service is nice,and the wait time is Very Well Worth it,because the food is Always So Fresh and Hot (w/the crinkle cut fries)…and not to mention Priced Right. “Everything’s Good ,it’s a Hidden Jewel”!!

My first time ordering, we ordered the the turkey, tips, wings and turkey hot links. The tips were absolutely horrible, the turkey link and wings were good. I've gone back several times for the wings, small orser wings are delicious and always fresh but there's barely any

Growing up on the west side of Chicago we grew up eating Uncle Remus on Madison & Central! From Rickettes I ordered an Italian Beef dipped with Cheese & Peppers, 3pc Mixed Chicken, Turkey Tips and Link combo. The beef was decent but it didn’t have enough peppers and the bread was barely dipped. The chicken was okay regular fried chicken. The Turkey Tips was good couple hard pieces but overall good & the Links were just okay. My biggest disappointment was the “Mild Sauce” again being from Chicago we love our mild sauce and this sauce taste just like the BBQ sauce from Wendy’s. I just don’t understand why they don’t have real mild sauce, I’ve been to a Rickettes in Chicago inside of “Hillside Bowling Alley” and they have real mild sauce. This restaurant could be 10x better if they switch to the mild sauce we eat back home. I ordered from this restaurant 2 times in 3 days to give everything a try and to support a Chicago business. “Chicagoans” I would recommend trying if you haven’t been home in awhile and you want a slight taste of an Italian Beef. The food is decent just doesn’t give you the Chicago feel.

The chicken wings were EXTREMELY salty and cold. The tips from the 3 wings & Pork Tip Combo were tough and cold as well, as if it had been reheated from the refrigerator. Last but not least, the pork tips had absolutely no smoke flavor whatsoever. They were definitely not smoked or grilled. I haven’t ordered from here in quite some time but I guarantee that this is my VERY last time ordering from Rickett's.

The chicken was cooked almost to perfection! 9 out 10 had the peach cobbler overpriced for that little bowl and it wasn't tasteful at all! 2 out 10. Service was great! Yes I would recommend this place!

I am not a fan of fried chicken, just never have been, HOWEVER, RICKETTE's CHANGED MY MIND! We got the big tray of fried chicken and fries and it was soooo DELICIOUS. The chicken was so crunchy and tasty, NOT overly or under seasoned, NOT greasy, SO juicy on the inside. The fries were great and a ton of them. Fed a family of 4 for 2 days and still had left overs! We also got the greens and mac and cheese too! Super yummy! Excited to have a good chicken spot in our neighborhood!

I would give a full five stars. But I think the hosts use CLD use some tweeking as well as the hot link. BUT.. the fried chicken( mix). And the tips and gizzards are as good as it gets in the west loop. I forget the young man's name- if read this please respond and I will gladly add. HE IS FUNNY, Professional, and upselling for the establishment. Did a walk in( a lil of a wait) and worth it Then did a phone order. No wait walk-in and pay. Food was seasoned( miss my Leon pepper) but delish, crispy and not greasy., IF THIS IS THE KIND Of CRAVING YOU ARE HAVING. Go give them a try!

Food was fresh. Sauce was nice and sweet. Chicken and catfish were super crisp, but rib tips could've been a bit more tender. We ordered ahead and it was ready in about 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend!

I ordered chicken wings and mac n cheese.. they drowned my chicken with sauce, the mac n cheese was nasty.. when my food arrived it was cold and nasty..

Don't eat here just plain old nasty the smells coming from the place smells delightful so I ordered the two piece filet and I asked the counter person was it swai and he said NO you can't dress up garbage fish with no amount of seasoning and the kicker here is you think your getting two pieces of whole filet they just cut one piece and make it two one bite spit it out and threw it out

good food when you can get it ! wtf ! they don't take call ins, its impossible to place an order online even though you call and they stress that you can. ordering online has been an ongoing issue for months and today I tried again for the first time since and same thing. I'm a stylist and just be trying to grab lunch in between clients, I even offered to pay over the phone. I don't have time to sit up there waiting for fish for 30mins But to each is own. As I said though food good as long as you can get it, probably won't ever have it again in this lifetime.

Ordered rib tips and chicken wings. Delivery was very slow. I did not receive a roll or coleslaw with my order. the sauce on the rib meat and chicken wings was very weak and tasteless. I spent over $25 and it was not worth it. There was no place I could place a review other than Yelp I will not order barbecue rib tips from them again

Just stopped in for a quick break. Service was great food was even better. I had a steak burger with fries and it was awesome. Sweet pie delicious!!!! My co- worker and I ate there it was a comfortable environment. Thank you Rickette's I'll see you again soon

I ordered from Ricketts and only thing good about Rickette's is their biscuits. they chicken was trash. They turkey tips and hot links was trash. They hotlink come from store not homemade they trash. I would not eat there again.

I ordered the 50 wing tray for an event for an end of the school year celebration with my students. The wings were DELICIOUS! I will definitely order from Rickette's in the future!!

Tried their rib tips and wings today. Had to dump both. They were brine salty. I have never had bbq that was salty. Not sure if the meat was over seasoned or the sauce with salt.

The food is flavorful and fresh. The chicken is well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Ask for sauce on the side if you don't like soggy fries, but trust me it works! The service is quick and friendly. The man taking our order was very patient and went above and beyond. The waiting area is clean and inviting.

The food was very good, juicy chicken, flavorful spices and sauces and quick service. The employees were friendly and help create a welcoming environment. The food was very reasonably priced and all around amazing. Could not recommend more.

Call to make sure your choice is available and know that it'll be hot and fresh even the fries. I always order a mixed Gpan & large rib tips plus a King Chopped for my oldest son and we all enjoy a meal.

So, I think they just flipped the closed sign. However, he decided to feed me anyway. I was happy cause I was famished . He told me what I could get and I was cool with that. While waiting I had time to look around. It's a really nice spot and even has a patio with tables. My food was piping hot (II don't normally eat food this temperature) and fresh. It was crunchy outside and juicy inside. I will definitely return cause I have to try the turkey tips and fish

I came on a Saturday.Awful service. The young lady who served me knew the man I was with . I guess she got upset . When I received my ten pieces of chicken the whole bottle of sauce was poured on my order. This was unprofessional, disgusting. And my money!. I should had reported this place. You never know what people do to your food.

We have been coming here for some time. It's up the street from the hospital we work in. Amazing amazing amazing. The chicken, the rib tips and everything is soo fresh. We come twice a week sometimes. Yesssss

Turkey tips and the chicken was very good, however they passed off cheaper swai when I ordered catfish. For the people who love catfish, being fooled with swai instead of catfish as a fish is quite frustrating.

Well, I tried to give them a 2nd chance and as I was hoping that it wouldn't be disappointing ,it was !!!!!!!! The same over cooked fries. I don't like my fries well done and I've paid for a tip and hot wing combo with a extra side of fries, because the first time I had their food it was fabulous ,fries were cooked perfectly , the tips were tender not over season and the sauce was good WELL today the fries are well done extra well done with sauceon them which does not make them better. The rib tips are salty and tough. I haven't tried the hot link yet because I'm about ready to throw this mess of $21 in the trash. They need to hire more cooks in the back because that one person must be having a really hard time ,it was extremely crowded. The cashier was overwhelmed with the phone calls and people coming in and the wait time was 30 to 40 minutes with most peoples lunches is 30 minutes to an hour are you only going to give them 20 minutes to eat They will not get any more of my business.

This place deserves zero starts. I got the tip and wing combo (roughly $19.00). The tips were burned and DRY as if they are pre-boiled before hitting the grilled. I asked for sauce on the food, which was just enough for a light coat. The fries were at the bottom and dry as well. NOT GOOD!

Ordered a large Turkey tips. Food was a waste of money!!! First the amount of food compared to price is wrong, barely any meat. Secondly the Turkey tops were so dried out and tough I couldn't eat it. Definitely didn't taste fresh. Would not return.

Delicious fried chicken that is very crispy and a delicious sauce. The chicken is on the smaller side and is not very "meaty"- but the flavor is satisfying. They have classic sides as well and I recommend the Mac and Cheese. It is a straight to the point and comforting meal. The price is worth the quality you get. Ordering is also very easy, you can do it by app or by calling directly. They pack it well to-go in aluminum tins to keep it from getting soggy.

This is my go-to for ribs on Uber Eats! It comes fast and hot! I consider myself to be a rib enthusiasts, and I've had a hard time finding smokey ribs, that aren't over boiled that can be delivered seamlessly and quickly. Thank you for making cheat days so worth it!

Peach cobbler was disappointing. Tasted straight out of can. Chicken was good but they ran out of lemon pepper which is weird for a chicken place

Great flavor with and without the sauce. The fish is amazing I will definitely be back. Oh BTW expect a long wait time

Oh dang!! Rickette's is goooooood! Thanks to the gentleman on the patio finishing up his meal who nudged me to try this place after he saw me stop and admire the menu on the sidewalk chalkboard. I asked him what I should order, and he replied "the catfish". Needless to say, it was out of this world. Seriously the best fried catfish I've ever had. Service won't be quick here, but it's worth the wait. They deliver on GrubHub and UberEats.

I ordered from here today because I'm tired of holiday food. What a mistake. I had a large rib tip with four wings. Not only were the ribs tough, they also tasted old. You cannot cover the bad taste of these ribs with sauce. It's safe to say this is my last time order from here. I wished I would've kept my $$.

My favorite thing to get from Rickette's are their chicken wings. They are always fresh and tossed in the yummy signature sauce. The ribs both for turkey and pork are good as well and tender. And the catfish is very well seasoned. A true gem on Taylor street and in my opinion better than some of the other chicken chains in the area. Definitely a favorite to hit up in the weekend when I want a good cheat meal.

I visited Rickette's frequently, due to working at UIC. The last time I was there the food was excellent; I purchased the tips and wing combo. Today, I was there again and purchased the same thing and the food was horrible. For $17+ you food should be fresh, hot and always consistent; it is not. The food is a hit or miss and you never know what you'll get. The wings tasted as if they were reheated and they were! They were not fresh! The tips were hard and I was not able to chew them-overcooked, not fresh! The fries were greasy ,(sitting a bed of grease), undercooked and just awful. Why? So disappointing! I threw the entire meal in the garbage. You just lost a customer!

Chicken wings are pretty good here. The wait can be a little long if you don't order ahead. I mostly order 5 wings and at times some of my wings are a little smaller than the rest. The breading is good, crunchy, and has the right thickness. However, they can get a little crazy with the mild sauce if you ask for it on your chicken which, can make it a little soggy. I have learned to ask for it on the side all the time. My only real issue is, they don't season their wings. I personally, like to taste the seasonings all the way through the meat. But, you can always ask for salt and pepper on the wings after they're cooked.

In the beginning they were very good, I work around the corner from this location and stop in from time to time, maybe around the 3rd visit to this restaurant I noticed the cutback on food I usually get the rib tip meal with 2 sides every time I order potato salad as my side I get these Little cups (the size cup you would put an extra mild sauce in) I don't feel that that equates to a side, I'm paying 13$ plus tax for this meal I want my fair portion!!!!also the ribs were really seasoned before now they're barely on meat on them They want you to patronize Black Businesses but they take your money and give less Quality and Quantity in Return, Gave them several tries more than likely won't spend and more money here.....Not Satisfied

My daughters LOVE the sauce! Pretty average food if you ask me. We keep going back- I ordered chicken wings. A bit expensive but we didn't mind paying.

Chicken was fresh. Crispy outside, juicy inside. Like uncle remus, except sauce wasnt as thick and sweet. I love the original sauce better. Wud have liked the rolls too instead of sliced bread. Bread was soggy. This place alone gets a 4.1/5. Compared to uncle remus tho, 3.9. Get that sauce and yall in the game 100. That sauce is important to the old customers.

After speaking with a connection of this restaurant and learning Ricketts is the second generation of Uncle Remus I was skeptical because I don't care for sweet food. I went on Wednesday of this week ordered, chicken wings w/mild sauce & liver and a order of Perch. My food was really good and the server I think her name was Charmaine and she was so patient with me. The fried chicken was crispy but the Perch was amazing it was crispy, seasoned well and tasty the batter YUMMY for my Tummy. I didn't like the potato salad because it was a little too pickily for me. The next time I go I already have my order planned out, see you on Saturday..LOL

Great!!! Food fresh and hot!! Reminds me of Uncle Remus.. Heads down best spot for chicken wings or chicken period. This is not a spot for Harold lovers, so if you are a Harolds lover this places isn't for you.

Prices too high! Wings too soggy! Fish too salty! Rib tips too old and dry-- must have been sitting since the lunch rush. Peach cobbler was decent. I will not order from here again.

Food was good but customers don't like seeing maskless cooks preparing the food. The guy taking the order wasn't wearing a mask. Neither was the cook.

I tried this for the first time. I have been looking for good rib tips. It was amazing! The presentation wasn't all that great, but the taste made up for that. I ate every messy bite if it and loved it. It was full of flavor. I had the rib tips, chicken, and catfish combo. Nice portion of everything. My only complaint is the heavy salt content on the catfish. Too salty for my taste, next time I will just order the rib tips and chicken. I would recommend this place.

Please if you place a order for pick up allow additional 30 minutes from the time they tell you. Also check your food order was wrong on 2 of the 3 occasions. It's a no for me!

The restaurant was clean. It was a walk in restaurant and there are no seats but in the front I saw these cupcakes with mini liquor bottles next to them. I'm guessing liquor cupcakes which is cool u don't see that often. The cupcakes were about $2.50 and the cookies & brownies were about $1.50. Back to the food. The fries were crispy on outside and soft in the middle it was perfect with the mild sauce. The chicken was okay needed more seasoning to me but other than that the chicken was crispy and well done. I love the mild sauce though.

Not sure what the hype is about. The only thing I can recommend are the rib tips. The wings are less than average in flavor & hardly any meat. The mac'n cheese was not good. And I received 2 stale slices of bread with my order (not even a roll like what's on their menu).

Terrible that day, chicken was very hard and dry, never again plus they shorten m a wing was very bad French fries are so bad never again
