Authentic experience it is!! The vegetables and other fresh produce are outside (and it offers A LOT!) there are also apparel and other bazaar-like items. And then inside, you will be amazed with how organized this market is. Don’t forget to try their ciders located at the Gastronomy building.

It's a place where you can find many things in one place. From sweet candies to smoked meats, from souvenirs to places to eat. Large markets clustered in 4-5 blocks. Being close to train and bus stations is also an advantage. I really enjoyed my visit and bought Latvian souvenirs.

Riga Central Market offers an authentic experience that shouldn't be missed! The vibrant atmosphere is filled with local vendors selling fresh produce, meats, and traditional Riga food. I tried several dishes, and the prices were incredibly cheap for the quality offered. It's a fantastic place to immerse yourself in local daily life, watching residents shop and interact with vendors. The variety of food is impressive, showcasing the region's culinary heritage. I highly recommend visiting the market for anyone looking to experience the true essence of Riga. It's a delightful way to spend a few hours and enjoy delicious local flavors!

The prices are reasonable. Has different things for purchase, from meat, fish, cheeses, produce, household items, clothing, in separate buildings. There is also an upstairs dept. store. You can also find things to eat and buy souvenirs. The prices for amber are varied from shop to shop. Overall, it was a fun place to visit. Don't forget the Riga Holocaust Museum is just a short walk from it.

If you follow my posts, you know I always head to the central market in any town I can find one. Riga’s market fits the bill with 5 former dirigible hangers from the 1920’s repurposed into the new market place. One runs perpendicular to the other 4 as a train unloading platform into the 4 market places that house meats, fish, vegetables - the 3rh is currently under renovation. Ample flower markets surround the outside and many vendors round out the space

Riga Central Market isn’t just big—it’s a record-breaker. Housed in five massive former Zeppelin hangars, it’s one of Europe’s largest markets, with over 3,000 stalls and more than 80,000 visitors a day. I wandered past piles of pickles, smoked fish, and rows of honey jars, each stall a story. The scale is staggering, but it’s the small details—the laughter of vendors, the smell of fresh bread—that make it unforgettable. If you want to understand Riga, start here.

We went on a Tuesday midday in March. It was quite busy. There were some vendors outside selling fruits and veggies (not all local produce) and lots of stalls with folks selling jackets, cooking supplies, bags, etc. It was fun to walk around and explore. We went into three of the warehouses—one had almost only meat with two restaurants, the other warehouse had tons of vendors selling all sorts of breads, candies, pastries, cheeses, and had some more restaurants and a food court type place. There was also a smaller warehouse in between there that had some more bags and some pharmacies and souvenirs. It was a bit chaotic but pretty cool experience, I’d recommend it if you’re in Riga.
