Where to Eat and Drink in Hermosa | Eater Chicago

"Husband-and-wife Charlie Davis and Katie Morgan are the engine behind one of Chicago’s only cideries, Right Bee Cider. The company’s beverages are available in stores and bars around town and also straight from the source at a 48-seat taproom in Hermosa. Customers will find pours of Right Bee Cider’s flagship ciders along with rotating specials and kegged cocktails. Food can be brought in or ordered from neighboring restaurant Rice Arepa." - Jeffy Mai

The 9 Most Anticipated Restaurants and Bars in Chicago, Winter 2019 - Eater Chicago

"Cider options in Chicago continue to grow as the city’s first cidery plans to add a 50-seat taproom to its operation next year. Fans of fermented apple juice won’t have to visit other bars or stores for a pint of Right Bee; they’ll be able to get it straight from the source soon. The upgrade will sport six taps and a full bar and allow owners Charlie Davis and Katie Morgan to sell bottles and growlers to go. Food won’t be served but folks will be able to bring their own." - Jeffy Mai

Right Bee Cider, Chicago’s first cidery, is opening a cider taproom in Hermosa - Eater Chicago

"The owners of Chicago’s first cidery, Right Bee Cider, have been busy the last four years. Right Bee started in suburban Lincolnwood and moved two years ago to its production facility in Hermosa. That’s going to change early next year when Right Bee opens a 50-seat taproom inside the cidery at 1830 N. Kostner Avenue." - Ashok Selvam

We don't live terribly far and have wanted to give this cidery a try! It's almost a hole-the wall type place, and we knew this ahead of time. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly quiet - one other place. The bartender was so incredibly nicez and helped us to each get a flight of 4 drinks so we could try all eight together. Definitely palette dependent, but we really liked them all and liked the chill atmosphere. They don't serve food here, so you can bring your own. They sell their cider and merch to go here, and we'd definitely like to come back!

Spent a few hours here on a rainy Thursday afternoon. It was not busy so we were able to chat with the bartender, Michelle. She is so awesome! I love the building, the architecture is cool and I love the overall ambience. The downside is that they don't serve food so just remember to eat before you visit. I am looking forward to coming back for another visit as I really like this place. If you like hard cider, I recommend you stop by.

Google
Incredibly disappointed by this place! I'm a big fan of Right Bee Cider products, but I had two flights here and tried all of the ciders. Almost all of them tasted completely off, with a strong flavor of wet paper. To me, it’s very clear they aren’t cleaning their lines. As a bar and brewery, that should be a basic and easy standard to meet. If you want to support local, I’d recommend just sticking to a can.

Google
This place has the best cider. I'm from Detroit and knew I needed to stop in since they are not available in Michigan. Janelle was a great bartender and super friendly. Gave us a great recommendation for dinner. This cidery is a hidden gem that more people need to know about.

Google
A fun place to enjoy their ciders! Free Ms PacMan video game, free popcorn, free water… great family fun, their logo is cute. Very nice Nice staff…parking on the street. It’s cute bc it’s hidden away in a quiet residential neighborhood and once you go inside it’s a lot bigger than the storefront appears to be. Lots of tables and nice friendly easy going atmosphere.

Google
Right Bee Cider is truly special. We’ve been drinking their ciders for years and recently visited their tasting room. The ciders are dry and delicious with eight varieties on tap. Flights are a great way to sample all they have to offer. The owners Charlie and Katie have created a warm and friendly atmosphere. One of my favorite places to spend a weekend afternoon.

Google
Very nice place. The tables are hand built wood and you can tell a lot of care went into this place. They brew the cider right there there's no kitsch. They rotate the menu and came up with their own cocktails. They also have beers from other local breweries. They do not serve food but they partner with a local restaurant with free delivery. We drive from two hours away to get their Clementine cider, if that tells you anything. You have to bring your own growler but they will fill it for you.

Google
This is a family owned brewery of hard cider that has a tavern/bar attached. The tavern does not serve food, but they do have some snacks and make popcorn (so two stars for that). They also are very open and welcoming of anyone bringing their own food. Very cool place, if I lived closer I would visit more often.

Yelp
FOR THE LOVE... DO A FLIGHT. While I visiting some friends in Chicago, we decided to find a place for cider. While we'd been hoping for actual 'Apple Cider' we're not sad we found this place! The taproom is a bit plain looking, though they have lots of seating. Our group found all or most of the ciders interesting sounding, so we went in on several flights. They have a dry cider, a semi-dry cider, a lemon and cheery blossom cider, a clementine, a rose, and a hard-cider. I personally enjoyed all of them! Our little group got to hang out with the bartenders as it was late afternoon-early evening. We really enjoyed talking with them and just trying some cider. They do have some cool merch too. My friend ended up buying a zip-up hoodie that she loves wearing (we video call a lot.) 9/10 recommend

Yelp
We travel a lot and always try to find local Cider places. The location is probably not the best, but we are absolutely glad we tried this place! Delicious variety of ciders and the hostess was very nice! Hopefully they expand distribution to Colorado!

Yelp
Right Bee Cider is truly a special place. We've been buying their ciders for years and recently started visiting their tasting room at the Cidery. Their Ciders are dry and crisp, with eight varieties on tap. They offer flights so you can get a broad sample. In addition to producing great ciders, the owners Charlie and Katie have created a wonderful experience for their guests. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. No better place to spend a weekend afternoon!

Yelp
This is a fun hard cider place! There were 8 cider options on tap, but also plenty of other choices to drink if you're not into cider. My fav of the ciders were: Dry, Semi-Dry, and Clementine. (I'm not a fan of sweet ciders, but our friends were and they enjoyed them.) We also really loved the Lozzarita (a margarita made with cider, agave, etc.). Yum!!! I chose Tajín for the rim, and that added a fun touch. So good! Other drinks they have are: beer, wine, cocktails, shots (Malört?!), and cold brew coffee. Something for everyone! The owners were so friendly. Plenty of board games to play. There was freshly popped popcorn, which was a nice snack. And they don't mind if you bring your own food or have some delivered.

Yelp
Great beers crabby white bartender- rolling her eyes when you ask for 1 sample- being super gruff- and telling at you to put back the cheese puffs- and use the bag- but not too smart because it was full to the brim you had to use the top to use it as a middle ground s to fold and fit into the basket- I was gonna put them back you mean little bruja!!!

Yelp
Charlie is such a great bartender! I had an amazing time here with my girlfriend and we will be back again soon!

Yelp
Right Bee Hard Apple Cider is located in the Hermosa Neighborhood and founded and operated by a young couple that decided to follow their dream of opening Right Bee Cider-it is unique to Chicago. It is definitely a "Chicago Original." It is nice that Right Bee Cider sources their apples from local orchards. It is also important because it supports the sustainability of bee hives and bees which have been in recent dangerous decline. Right Bee Cider has a tasting room at their Hermosa location. Their Hard Apple Cider is also available in 6 pack bottles at Jewel-Osco on Clark and Division Street on the Second Floor. My favorite was the Blossom which has hints of floral notes. I also tried the Dry which reminded me of Champagne and was also delicious.

Yelp
Owners and staff are all great. The popcorn machine and board/card games are fantastic additions. The cider is legit! I'm a beer drinker usually, but Right Bee has definitely grown on me. Lots of varieties to try. Rhubarb and Hoppy are current favs.

Yelp
Wow! What amazing staff, ambience, and cider. My friends and I had a fantastic time on the tour and in the taproom, and can't wait to come back soon. Pro-tip: dog-friendly and it's bring your own food!

Yelp
Found this place by accident. We (Wife and I) walked in and were greeted by Collin. He explained everything to us we ordered a flight of 4 different ciders and we shared them. We found some we really liked as we talked he gave us 3 more small tastes and gave us a tour of the facility. we ended us purchasing a 6-pack. they are dog friendly and very welcoming, the cider is great. cant wait to go back.

Yelp

Yelp
One of the best cider places in Chicago. The owners are extremely friendly, and I love going to their ping pong nights! My favorite is the blossom. Come here for a good time, and good drink.

Yelp
Great tasting ciders. Our group ordered the full list of flights and tried their mixed drinks. My favorite was the blueberry cider and the Right Bee Spritzer. They also have a food menu through 2ndkitchen and can order from Rica Arepa. I recommend their cheese sticks and empanads. Will definitely be back

Yelp
Great cider, easy parking. Only downside is the lack of food options but the vibe is great regardless.

Yelp
We were unfamiliar with Right Bee until driving past a couple days ago. Although the cute bar area is currently shut down (COVID), we called for curbside pick up. We chatted briefly with the friendly owner at a safe distance and wearing masks and gloves, learning that Right Bee ciders are available throughout Chicagoland. We left with a growler of Blossom and two 6-packs of the yet-to-be-tasted honey cider made with their own honey harvested on their rooftop. I'm no cider aficionado, more of a Belgian beer snob, but we were very impressed with the Right Bee Blossom yesterday. The color is a stunning ruby. The flavor is fruity and nicely balanced with mild carbonation, and it was quite easy to drink -- indeed we would've welcomed a second growler! Although we're not cider experts, our sense was that Blossom was far superior to the overly sweet and gassy big name ciders and much more pleasant to drink than some of the funky, esoteric ones we've tried at cider bars. We will do more carry out and look forward to sitting at their bar one day to sample more Right Bee ciders and try their cider cocktails!!!
