Riley's Fish & Steak

I haven’t been to Riley’s in over a year because I was never wowed by any of my experiences. This all changed at my most recent visit. We came for my friend’s birthday and I feel like with big groups the service is either a hit or a miss but our evening was a huge hit! Thank you to Tim, Lisa and Alana for the most exceptional service I’ve ever received. They were interactive and attentive which made the night 10x more fun. The food was served at a perfect pace and tasted amazing. The portions were also HUGE! 10/10 recommend this place if you are planning a birthday or event.

Tell you what, we wanted a quick NY day hangover meal but decided to walk into Riley’s instead. 10/10 choice. Hershey (sp?) and the rest of the staff were exceptional. The quality of the meat and seafood was out of this world and we left with full hearts and heavy bellies.

I stopped by Riley’s for happy hour, and it ended up being such a great experience. I tried the wagyu carpaccio, the crispy brussels sprouts and the truffle fries—everything was honestly so good. The carpaccio was tender and flavourful, the brussels were perfectly crispy, and the truffle fries were the kind you can’t stop eating. You can definitely feel the Glowbal Group standard in both the food and the service. With great dishes, good vibes, and warm hospitality, Riley’s has easily become one of my favourite happy hour spots.

We were in a rush to have a quick bite during HYROX at around 5:15pm. We promised to give back the table in 75 mins so we are able to get a table without reservations. The server is very attentive and speed up the kitchen for our dishes. Beef carpaccio with the garlic bread is a nice touch. Shishito peppers portion is generous. Miso sablefish is at par. Lamb rack is quite flavorful. Overall, the dining experience is great even we were in a rush.

This place is a 10 out of 10! Went twice for happy hour when I was visiting Vancouver. Oscar waited on me both nights at the bar and his service was impeccable. The bar manager also waited on me and he was great as well. The food and drinks were mouthwatering. The cocktails were crisp, refreshing and simply beautiful. The parm truffle fries are chef’s kiss along with the black pepper mayo. I could not stop eating them. I would definitely recommend you stop by for dinner, at the very least for happy hour.

Riley’s Fish & Steak is an absolute standout in Vancouver. We made reservations to celebrate a friend’s birthday and arrived early, so we started with drinks at the bar. From the moment we arrived, Oscar and Cecilio went above and beyond to make us feel genuinely welcome and well looked after. Their hospitality was exceptional, and the cocktails were incredible. Once seated, the experience only got better. We shared the King Seafood Tower and ordered the steak frites with truffle fries, and every bite was outstanding. The quality of both the seafood and the steak was truly top-tier. Our server, Stuart, was equally fantastic and delivered impeccable service throughout the meal. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. I would 10/10 recommend Riley’s to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience and will absolutely be back the next time we’re in Vancouver.

I really enjoyed Riley's happy hour and dinner with my wife for the first time. Tim kindly welcomed us upon our arrival and showed us the restaurant as it was our first time. We even asked to change the seats because we wanted to try sitting inside and Tim was able to accommodate our request without hesitation and promptly. We had Welcome Drinks and they may not mean much but we felt appreciated. Then, Blanca served us and she was attentive and knowledgeable. We had oysters, mussels (tomato one), white wine, beer and Halibut. Each dish was prepared in a way that it made sense to us why this restaurant was included in Michelin guide. Enjoyed every minute of it and will come back. Chocolate cake was at another level and we finished off with live music. Recommended for those of you that would like to go on a nice date.

The waitress (Corin) was amazing. Nothing was too much to ask. She just wanted you to have a great time. The manager Anna was also awesome I ordered lobster benny but asked for crab sub - hollandaise on the side but it was amazing!! My husband ordered their classic breakfast and we don’t eat pork so they gave him extra chicken sausage (easily one of the best)

I went in for happy hour on a Thursday and I was blissed out within minutes of entering. It was sunny and warm and we were asked if we wanted the recently opened outdoor seating but we took our chances on the delightful indoor environment. Every single staff member that passed us gave us a warm smile at the least and a welcome and "how are you" at best. It felt like a large room of friends. Even the other guests smiled around at each other. This was a place of welcoming. The food was served at perfect intervals and it all was delicious. Special shout outs to the black pepper aioli, the carpaccio, the mushroom side. The steak was cooked wonderfully but for a ribeye at that price, I expected a bit better of a cut of beef. But I suppose getting beef at all in this climate, one should be grateful. I also have to make a big mention that my drink is a gin martini, slightly dirty and extra dry. Extra dry means NO VERMOUTH. This is the first bartender in Vancouver who seemed to understand this so they are the star bartender in the land.

With an open concept raw bar, cozy looking seating in the main dining area and a nice colour scheme, Just as all of the Glowbal restaurants, Riley's is very aesthetically pleasing - great for a trendy dinner for a special occasion. Each of the service staff were kind, accommodating and explained dishes very well. Food came out quickly and at nice temperatures as well. I will have to say that for the price, the steak and sides were not quite the quality that I expected (appys and martinis were though!). At the "buy up" promotion set menu price, it would be fair, some of their sister restaurants just seem to do their steaks a little better. I would note as well that the building is not automatically accessible for wheelchairs or strollers, with only stairs up to the main entrance and no automatic door opener. However, if you called in advance they could allow you access through a side door off of West Cordova. Beef carpaccio was my favourite part of the meal! Well balanced flavours.

Finally tried Riley's and took advantage of their buy up before the times up promotion. $130 on Sunday/Monday night, 3 course meal for two. Seemed like a great deal. We tried to make an earlier reservation but landed at 8:30pm. The restaurant was pretty full and seems like everyone was there for the promo! It's a great deal. Service was great and attentive. A few starters to start. Salmon rillette was interesting and tasty. Never had something like this before and I enjoyed the flavors. Beef carpaccio was solid. Brioche was ok. Onto the entrees! Presentation was great. Strip loin and lobster gratinée were delicious. Cooked perfectly. Prawn fried rice was just okay. Mushrooms and potato purée were standard and good. Dessert - rhubarb custard cake. Tasty and not too sweet! Overall good amount of food shared between two people. Solid deal at $130.

Came by Riley's on a Tuesday with the Buy Up promotion ($130 for a $230 set menu for 2 persons). This is a very popular promotion and I could see most tables were there for this promotion. Riley's is located at the top of Burrard St across the Convention Center and used to be a Rogue before it shut down during COVID. Loved the high ceilings and all the natural light...and also the individual washrooms. Now for the food... They brought out three appetizers to start: a brioche loaf with lobster oil, a salmon rillette with sourdough and beef carpaccio with truffle aioli. Nice presentation on all three but do not think two bread items were necessary. I was not a fan of the salmon rillette. The brioche loaf with lobster oil was the star of the first courses. Next was followed with a striploin (cooked perfectly) with a lobster cut in half, prawn fried rice, roasted maitake mushroom and mashed potatoes with black truffles. Again the presentation was great for all the dishes. The taste of the mushroom and rice was ok but a bit bland. I really enjoyed the steak sitting with the tuffle mashed potatoes...a great combination of taste and flavours. The last course was a rhubarb custard cake. It was a perfect end to a large meal. The service was excellent and it was a very positive food experience.

Great place to celebrate a special occasion. My server greeted me with a complementary glass of champagne for my birthday. I loved the elegant ambiance and the booth I sat in was very cozy. We came for happy hour and they have a nice selection to choose from. oysters: you can't go wrong with $1.50 West Coast oysters. wagyu beef carpaccio: this was my fave! Thinly sliced wagyu topped with a ton of sauce, onion rings, cheese and bread. classic mussels: 1 1/2 lbs is a good amount to share. chocolate cake: my girlfriends ordered me this for my bday. I don't love chocolate, but it was very decadent

Metro Vancouver went nutso! Riley's Fish & Steak, put out a time limited promo - 2 can dine on Sunday or Monday for $130 (that's like $80US LOL) a great savings from the regular price of $230. However, because of huge demand, the sale ended early. Then it became a racing battle to try & get space for reservations on Sunday or Monday (valid only on these days) till the beginning of May. Well that didn't go over well - an additional booking day, Tuesday had to be added - extending the time frame till June. I got super lucky & kept checking availability - space opened up & I grabbed it no hesitation. The sooner the better I thought. Gosh check out the menu offering & you'll know why people went bananas! See pix! On the menu for - Buy Up Before the Times Up - lets start with the 3 appetizers ... Mini Riley's Broiche - OMG this one had me at Mini = goodness gracious I'm in luv! I'm definitely getting this bread next time I go back! The Beef Carpaccio was to me - comme ci comme ça = some of y'all may like it, me = it was just ok. The sauce on it could have been better in my humble opinion. The Salmon Rillette (Pate) absolutely floored me. Not really one for pate but this one had me oooooohhhhhing & aaahhhing like never before! And the cheesebread that came with it = Santa Maria slap me twice! Now onto the entrées - the Whole Roasted Prime Striploin was on point, as would be expected when serving Prime! The Lobster Gratinee (does Gratinee mean small?) was on the smaller side of lobster that I've had previously. Nonetheless it went dowwwwnnn! The Prawn Fried Rice was bland & could have used a bit of jazz aka spice. The Roasted Maitake Mushroom was very tasty - mushrooms with a twist for sure. The Potato Purée was just aight. I luv me my mash & I've have had better. Ending this off with dessert - the Rhubarb Custard Cake was excellent. Kudos to RFS for not going stingy with dessert & providing a quality ending to the entire experience. Bravo! Our server Luis was fantastic. Very helpful & prompt. There you have it. RFS is a gorgeous elegant classy restaurant right at the Waterfront - downtown. Great spot for an after dinner walk with fabulous views. The interior of RFS is quite swanky with beautiful to the eye touches. There is a a cool oyster bar for those that love oysters & a huge selection of wines - will be a great spot for groups. Speaking of wine, a couple across from us were wine tasting (the maître d' had a opened 3 bottles of wine for their table, which sat there for 25 mins before consumption) & so if you're a big wine lover, for $30+ you too can indulge. Contact RFS for details. RFS was awarded a Michelin star & deservedly so. I am already contemplating coming back to Riley's for brunch & to try the Happy Hour menu!

Like Shonah and Michael (whose reviews are below), I also had ordered the "Buy Up" Meal for Two deal for a bougie pre-set menu here at Riley's. The deal could only be used on Sundays or Mondays, and since Mother's Day was on a Sunday, I decided to dine here for my Mother's Day dinner with my kid. (SO nice that they didn't have restrictions for this special date!). I had never been to Riley's before, but whenever I've walked to Canada Place or the Convention Center, I've passed it by, and it always looked swanky from the outside. Well, now I can say that it's as nice on the inside too! Lots of greenery and twinkling white lights, very cool and contemporary suspended lighting fixtures, white linens and flowers on the tables... everything you'd expect from an elegant restaurant. When we arrived yesterday, there was a live musician with a guitar, and he was a wonderful singer! Everyone from the hostesses to our server Kristi to all the servers who brought us our many dishes and kept refilling our water cups were all fabulous. But how is the food, you may ask? In a nutshell, the food BLEW US AWAY. If ever you have the opportunity to get one of these "Buy Up" deals, don't hesitate. Truly. We got SO MUCH food, and every single dish, and every single component of every dish, was stellar. There is not one critique I can give about any of the many dishes we had, they were all phenomenal. Appetizers: hot loaf of brioche bread with whipped butter and lobster oil to dip it in (this bread was akin to a croissant with a flaky, crusty, buttery exterior and soft interior. It literally melted in your mouth); salmon rillette with sourdough toast (we loved it); beef carpaccio with truffle aioli (OMG). Mains: 10 oz prime striploin, perfectly cooked, charred exterior, medium rare interior (to die for); 1 lb whole Atlantic lobster (best lobster my kid and I ever had eaten in our lives. And I lived in Boston for 3 years!), bougie mashed potatoes (I was too full to have this. My kid ate it all and loved it!); huge shrimp/prawns atop fluffy rice (delicious); fancy roasted mushroom dish (maitake mushroom. I had never even heard of this type of mushroom! I was too full to have this but my kid raved about it). Dessert: rhubarb sutured cake with graham base and strawberry topping (OMG. I thought I was too full to have any but I miraculously made some room - and it was WORTH IT! So delicious!). We also had cocktails (they were both wonderful); the bar here is great. If you do get this deal, be sure to come hungry. The portions are large and. there is enough food for 3-4 hungry adults, easy. We brought a lot home. I can't say enough good things about this place. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, it was wonderful. Every part of it!

Overall an amazing experience! Loved the restaurant decor, the ambiance, and the attention to detail for everything. The plating was beautiful and the food was delicious! The service was fast, friend, and just phenomenonal. Our server really tried to make our first time at Riley's an incredible experience and she did excellent! We also celebrated our graduation there and it was nothing short of a great experience. I would definitely come back to Riley's

Delicious, creative food with great service and beautiful decor. I came in a group on Valentine's and we had a great meal and great time. The staff was excellent at unobtrusively keeping us fed, hydrated, and happy. The Food was delicious. The Salmon Gravlax was more salad with accents of salmon gravlax, but the balance worked well. The Butter Poached Lobster was perfectly executed - delicious texture, cooked to the exact point of perfection. It was accompanied by roasted parsnips and gnocchi that was roasted and delicious. While I am not usually much of a sweet tooth, the Pavlova was light, fluffy, and the fruity compote had a little tartness to make it hard to resist. Is it low cost? No. Is it high value? Yes. I look forward to returning!

I am aware that a negative Yelp review could hurt the restaurant, but this one aims to be as truthful and genuine as possible rather than being critical. Reily's had a nine-course promo for only $130 (valued at $230). My girlfriend and I bought one about a month ago, and I heard they've extended it due to demand. We came in expecting a tremendous experience but left with many regrets. We felt that Reily's was dishonest and the service was pressurized.  As we were seated, the server asked if we'd like to start with water. We said yes, please. He then came back with a bottle of Pellegrino sparkling water and started pouring. We saw that other tables also had Pellegrino for their promo, so we assumed it was included. However, we found out on our receipt that it was an additional $7 charge, of which we were not informed.  The appetizers were interesting; the Brioche buns had a crispy coating with a fluffy crumb; the Salmon Rillette was rather strong and salty; and the Beef Carpaccio was rather bland, I couldn't taste the truffle aioli that was topped. We intentionally tasted the appetizers as we wanted to save our appetite for the entrees. However, when the server took them away, he did not ask if we'd like to pack them and just proceeded to take them away. It was only until the end of the meal that we discovered he had thrown them away; it was such a waste since we expected to save them for later. (70% of the apetizers shown in the pictures were untouched). As we looked forward to the entrees, the lobsters and striploins came cold. The lobster tasted rather citrusy, which was all we noticed; it lacked flavor. The lobster itself was unfresh, the meat was soft rather than bouncy, and the head was also bitter rather than flavorful. Since my girlfriend is not a fan of steaks like me, I was hoping Reily's steaks would impress her into liking them. It turned out to confuse her more; she questioned why I even liked steaks at all. The steak came with a small surface of crusts, and since it also came cold, it tasted as if it were a boiled piece of meat. The shrimp fried rice surprised me as it was the only dish that stood out with flavors; the black truffle mashed potato, on the other hand, was served with tiny strings of truffles, very minimal truffle tastes. Unlike the large portion of appetizers that they threw away, they managed to pack the leftover small amount of mash potato and fried rice into individual boxes. Nothing extraordinary when it comes to the Rhubarb Custard Cake, my girlfriend who loves desserts and sweets dearly commented that it was normal. The macerated strawberries were very sour, we had to take that layer off to enjoy the cake better. As I made my way to the washroom, I noticed that 90% of the customers were there eating the same nine-course meals. I realized that Reily's was mass-producing the dishes. It suddenly made sense that each dish was not taken care of; they all lacked flavor and care compared to if you ordered individual dishes.  What really left me with a 2-star experience was the end of the meal. Since we came with the QR code for the promo, we were instructed to choose the percentage of tips first, then scan the code to minus the $130. The server held the machine and instructed me to choose the tip options. Since he was looking at me to choose, I felt very uncomfortable and pressured to choose the minimum of 18%. We understand it is mandatory to tip the minimum at high-end restaurants, and I'd also be happy to do so if we had a good experience; however, compared to other ones, the food did not stand out, and the server wasted our food without informing us. If you also happen to buy the promo, you really get what you paid for; it was truly an unpleasant and dishonest experience.

Came in for a group dinner The service was not bad and decor was excellent Their menu was quite impressive and food was served quite quickly The brioche was a delicious appy to share for a group The oysters tasted fresh I ordered the blackened ahi tuna with a side of mushrooms. The ahi didn't seem blackened or seasoned but I didn't want to wait for the kitchen to remake my meal while 8 others waited for me.

Beautiful place to enjoy fantastic food. Went for the dining special fixed menu deal which was a fantastic value. Service was excellent along with all the dishes. I'll update with more details soon.

A surprisingly affordable happy hour menu. Tried about 8 dishes in total with drinks for 4 ended up about $150. The beef carpaccio was the star of the day. The buttermilk chicken, $8 truffle fries and lobster duo wasn't too bad. The seafood platter for $24 is the perfect size for one person and the calamari wasn't tough or rubbery. Service is a bit slow. I think they were understaffed as the food arrived before the drinks.

Great food, delicious and great aesthetic plating... The brioche bread they provide at the beginning of the meal is excellent!! Service is great too - live musicians playing music too.

Last visit 1/28/2024 Dine out Vancouver Ginger Pine Fizz Tart and refreshing, but more of a palette cleanser. 3.75 stars Appetizer: Wild Mushroom Soup - truffle mascarpone cream candy bacon, fine herbs: smooth and creamy, a little *too* mushroomy for my tastes, but the Mrs loved it.But once you take a spoonful with the candied bacon, the combined flavour simply made sense. 4.25 stars. Riley's Winter Salad - chicory, ricotta, pears, candied walnuts hot honey fig dressing: yes, it's merely salad. But what a tasty one; I enjoyed every bite. 4.25 stars. Brioche (not part of dine out, ordered separately): When you see bread at a high end restaurant that's $10, it's usually a good sign. It does not disappoint; like AnnaLena's amazing torn bread, Riley's brioche is an enormous, decadent, elevated feat of baking. 4.75 stars. 6oz Bacon Wrapped Tenderloin - whipped potato, winter roasted vegetables peppercorn sauce: The steak was good enough to stand on its own, so I was able to use the peppercorn sauce for the incredibly fluffy mashed potatoes. Plus the bacon already acted as seasoning on the steak. 6 Oz doesn't sound like it would be enough, but I was full enough after dinner. The carrots were as buttery as you could imagine. This would've been a 5 star entrée, but there were a couple of random hits of salt on my plate (tail end of 1 carrot, the broccoli) that lowered it to 4.75 stars. Someone was a little rushed during dine out. We could've upgraded to wagyu or added fois gras for an additional charge. Lobster Squash Ravioli - east coast lobster meat, crispy sage mushroom, sweet and sour squash: To quote the Mrs: this is all she could've asked for, for a lobster ravioli. Personally, I would've enjoyed a cream sauce, but everything on that plate was delicious. I don't even like mushrooms on their own, but they managed to even elevate those with a buttery finish & non rubbery texture (it's usually the texture that ruins them for me. But not here!) The individual, perfectly cooked pieces of lobster were quite generous as well. 5 stars. Chocolate Cake - caramel sauce, dark chocolate cremeux laminated almonds: The cake was light and fluffy, not too sweet, with the Almond brittle providing the hit of sweetness and crunch. 5 stars. Lemon Tart vanilla chantilly, shortbread tart lemon curd: Perfect sweetness and tartness, but the vanilla creme on the side was better served with the chocolate cake. Shortbread crust was crispy and buttery. 4.75 stars. Recommend: everything we ordered, but the mushroom soup won't be for you if you're not already a fan of mushrooms. Avoid: nothing really, but note that the ginger peach fizz is more of a palette cleanser. Overall 9.5/10, 4.75 stars

Wow, what a fantastic place this was. The service provided by Tim, one of the managers, and Mickey, our server, and dare I say it, by the end, our best friend. The service was top notch. From the quickness of the orders being taken to served, to the live band that added the perfect ambiance. My ribeye made my rib hurt, with how full I became after eating all 16 oz. Of that tender meat. The options for seasonings and au jus, made for an explosion of flavor. I will never forget this place, and I hope you, prospective eater, feel the same.

Ambiance: This place feels like they have a hierarchy way of seating people. They seem to put the very young, attractive people in the front of the restaurant to show they're hip and cool, and the rest of the people in the back. I could be wrong, but it was a pretty big restaurant and we were placed in the back with a lot of older people. They had a guy playing music, which was cute. They had table lamps that changed colors. During our stay, they changed it to this orange color that they claimed was more romantic, but it wasn't a soft orange. It was like emergency workers on the road orange. We changed it to a softer bluish white. This isn't a quiet place, but it isn't like your local sports bar. You'll have to raise your voice a little to hear people you're with. Everyone was dressed really nicely. Service: Now, I really wish I didn't give this review, but dear lord, I really hate being scammed and i feel like people should know. I'm going to start off by saying I don't mind spending money on something i feel is worth it, but this server was another level. Our server, Luis (Luiz?) was such an upselling snake. First he comes to our table and asks if we'd like sparkling water. Doesn't tell us that it's an extra charge. Every one of his tables starts off with sparkling water, but he doesn't ask later if we want more. He just gives you regular water after - so he knows he's selling you extra. I've been to enough restaurants where they offer still or sparkling and it's on the house (because they make their own). Wasn't an option. First upcharge. My friend orders the house wine and he tries to sell us a bottle and my friend goes, "no, I'll just have whatever glass since I'm only having two." Luis replies with, "oh so you want the 8oz?" "Sure, whatever's on the menu." Second upcharge. There wasn't an option for the 8oz on the menu. There was only one price on the menu for $17. Luis tells us about the special, which is a larger cut of steak, topped with 2 foie gras, some side stuff, and costs somewhere in the $340 range. (Again upcharge) We say no thanks, it's too much food, and he presses again for the upsell. No thank you. It's not what we want. We finish our food and we wait 20 minutes to order dessert. When he brings the dessert, we ask for the check at the same time because at this point from the time we're seated and the time we've gotten dessert, it's been 2 hours. We get the bill and see the sparkling water charge - that's super annoying, but whatever, it's a few dollars. My friend just wanted the two glasses of wine - when we looked at the check, he goes "wait, why is it $54 for 2 glasses of wine when the price stated $17 each glass?" Luis replies with, "oh it's because you got the 8oz one instead of the 5oz. Was this not what you wanted? I can go talk to the manager to see if you want it changed?" (My friend didn't see the option for another price. He just saw one price on the menu for wine.) And of course Luis relies on people not wanting to make a scene, which we didn't and just paid the difference on the bill. Food: We got the brioche (because i saw people getting it on other tables and it looked so good!), Ribeyes, side salad, foie gras, and creme brulee. Brioche: for this alone i would come back. They bring it over whole and use two forks to pull it apart. The outside is flaky and crisp, the inside is soft and chewy. It comes with a side of whipped butter and lobster butter - both of which i practically licked off the plate. It's so good. Ribeye: we ordered it med rare, and i felt like it was overcooked. The inside looked more medium than rare. The meat was tough and didn't feel like a $100 cut of meat. I've definitely spent less at other restaurants and gotten much better quality. For a steak place, they really need to up their game. (I also come from a family of butchers, so I may be biased.) Foie gras: seriously wonderful. Nice, crisp edges, while remaining buttery smooth on the inside. (Was a little cold to the tongue on the inside though.) Creme brulee: good, but nothing to really write home about. The burnt sugar topping was a little thicker than my personal preference, but it was still good. Summary: So all in all, is $30ish upcharge worth a crappy review? Likely not, but it is one of those places where I felt like I got scammed and would honestly prefer to spend my money on another place with more honest staff. I'm sure all this guy cares about is his percentage tip at the end of the day. I can't tell you if other servers at this place practices this, but I wouldn't risk it for the food. Maybe come here for the brioche. It's super good. Hats off to the bakery chef. I would get super fat from this if i lived here.

Food was mediocre, their seafood plate is too plain, not many options and over priced, their crab tasted the best to me as their crab was very clean. Their pasta dish was OK too - too oily/soggy (I think they can use better noodle dough, seemed cheapish). Service was great, friendly and attentive - ambiance was cozy! However, I wouldn't recommend this place or come here for special events or birthday's etc. They have good cocktail menus made specifically by them but I personally wouldn't come back here as I came here with my bf to celebrate my work bonus recognition.

It was a little cloudy but we sat at their outdoor table, with a great view of the water. Service was exceptional, asked server about the dishes and she knew her stuff. I wanted to eat dessert so I ordered light and just had the crab cake. I was so glad I did, because the desserts were delicious.

I ended up at Riley's when searching for happy hour places in the Waterfront area. The drinks selection is quite good for happy hour and the food menu is not the typical items. Oysters? Steamers? That sealed the deal for me. I didn't know what to expect and I only found out it was on the list of Michelin recommended places in Vancouver when I saw the website. The place is nice. Quiet too. I was alone as it was a random thing to do. Too last minute to ask my friends to join me. But the service was excellent. It did not feel awkward to dine alone here. I told my server I needed a drink and she gave great recommendations. In the end I had two margaritas as it was just so good. The bartender came over to check on me and the drinks, if I liked it etc. I had the raw oysters, oyster Rockefeller and the classic clam steamer from the happy hour menu. Everything was so good. My server came by often to check if I needed anything. I would be back again for brunch or lunch in future. Or more happy hour. It is quite short as it ends at 5 pm and most places in the area end at 6 pm for happy hour.

I wasn't planning on visiting this spot, but I'm so glad I did. Came on a Saturday early evening without a reservation and got seated pretty quickly. Service was friendly and the decor was so beautiful. I ordered only one appetizer for myself but I was so impressed. The Smoked Salmon & Caviar Potato Rosti was nothing like I've ever tasted before. The only way I can describe it is smoked salmon over a block of hash brown lol. I honestly wish I was able to try more of the menu but I will definitely be back.

Really disappointing - was in town and attempted to make a reservation online, which I thought went through OK, however, upon arrival at the restaurant, the reservation could not be found in their system. Despite the restaurant being completely empty, I was told that no seating was possible, other than the bar area. This despite the fact that when I made the earlier online reservation, there were ample seating alternatives. The front hostesses were of no help and did not appear remotely interested in my business, at which point I left. Attitude and atmosphere is a substantial part of the dining experience and I'm glad I was soundly rebuffed at the entrance.

My friend was back in town and we decided to do a Sunday Girls brunch and I suggested Riley's. No one else had ever been and were excited to try. They have live music at brunch, which we were all really into. Our server was friendly and started us off with drinks. I ordered a Jasmine green tea as needed some caffeine in my system. I tend to need some extra hot water refilled to my tea pot during a meal. My server was extra kind and actually got me a new pot with a new fresh tea bag with no extra change - this was a nice touch and great customer service! One of the girls ordered a coffee and the other two an espresso and commented that the coffee wasn't bad for a restaurant. Apparently most restaurants don't serve great coffee. We started the table off with an order of the brioche bread and I think all 4 of us went to heaven. Warm, fresh, and buttery it is served with a side of lobster oil and butter with chives. It was a delicious start to our brunch! I recommended the steamers so one of the girls got the classic Steamer with clams, another ordered the Smash burger, another ordered the Lobster & Prosciutto Rosti, and I ordered the Lobster benny. Everyone agreed that the portion sizes were quite large and none of us could finish our meals. I ended up finishing my Lobster, kale, and eggs and ate as much of the scallion potato skillet with melted cheese as much as I could but eventually had to give up. Our server later came to apologize saying she was new and forgot to serve us the complimentary amuse bouche at the start and instead, served it to us at the end of a meal. We actually preferred having it at the end of a meal as it was like a baked cream puff with a lemon zest filling inside. It was quite lovely! Both food, service, and ambiance were lovely this time around so am glad that I gave it another try.

Riley's ambience is that of a cruise ship buffet, yet somehow louder, and more brash. The high ceilings, and packed in tables, make it an acoustic nightmare of noise that the overhead music cannot suppress. The Buy-Up promotion courses were mass produced: cold, bland, and barely edible. Our server was the only star of the night. Save your hard earned cash, and stay home.

We came on a Monday during happy hour and it wasn't very busy. The place was maybe half full. We came to celebrate some birthdays. Our server was super nice and accommodating. We told her it was 2 of the attendees birthdays and she was nice enough to bring us 2 desserts with a candle and happy birthday on it. We got the truffle fries, beef carpaccio, brussel sprouts, calamari, chilli tomato mussels and clams steamer, classic mussels and clams steamer and the Spanish mussel steamer. The truffle fries were hands down delicious. They aren't on the happy hour menu but you definitely need to order them. The fries are really crispy and the inside very light and fluffy. The truffle flavour isn't overly heavy and it isn't overly salted. Would recommend it. The beef carpaccio was not bad. A bit heavy on the sauce and the cheese making the beef a bit hard to taste. Would skip this dish. The brussel sprouts were a bit over done, too crispy for me but it was well seasoned. The calamari was soft and not overly chewy. Not overly battered but nothing special. Wouldn't recommend. We tried all three steamers and the chilli tomato is the best one. It says spicy in the description but it isn't spicy at all. Very homey and warm notes. Careful some of the clams have sand in them. The bread that comes with goes so well with the broth from the steamers. It soaked up all the delicious juices so well that we ordered more. Would definitely recommend the steamers For dessert we got the warm toffee cake and the chocolate cake. The warm toffee cake wasn't overly sweet and had that hint of caramel in it. The chocolate cake was your standard chocolate cake. For drinks we got the Botanical spritzer with cucumber and mint and the Riley's red sangria. The spritzer was strong and refreshing. The red sangria was a miss. Wouldn't recommend that one. Overall I felt that the portions are definitely smaller, so if you are a large party you will need duplicates of everything like we did. The service is pretty fast and really friendly. The have a huge dining room and it can get a bit echoey but the chair are comfortable and the ambiance is relaxing. The food can be a hit or miss but overall I would recommend the happy hour. Get the tomato chilli steamer and the truffle fries

We had a lovely night dining al fresco at Rileys. Our waitress Anna was amazing and the setting across from the harbor port gives diners a nice view of the cruise ship. We loved all the food except one dish and would probably eat here again. Cons: my dad thought the mussels were overcooked, so Anna took them off the bill (Pro for great customer service). The main entrees took a long time to come out. Anna said that our ticket got behind a large party. We had a reservation but when we arrived the 3 ladies in the front looked at the iPad and seemed to be discussing amongst themselves while constantly glancing at our party at what to do. A gentleman in the blue suit, (a manager?) came over and asked what the issue was. I could hear him ask them if we were walk-in or reservation, and one of them said reservation but again glanced at us and whispered something to him. It gave all of us the impression that because most of us were dressed casually they weren't sure if they wanted to seat us where they had us originally booked for a table? It definitely gave us vibes of snobbery, but we didn't see a dress code and saw plenty of people dressed casually as we were. I actually had a nice dress on and my hubby&parents were in Khakis, my daughter in jean shorts and my other daughter in joggers. The gentleman offered us a table on an upper patio which we said was fine as we wanted to sit outside and we were finally seated. So I don't know what all that was about but the way they glanced at us several times while whispering didn't start off the night. (Thus a 4 star rating) Pros: Anna was great. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. Great setting across from the port. The stripsteak, tenderloin, kale salad, halibut scallop special and seafood chowder were very tasty. The steamed clams were very good too. Highly recommend the warm sticky toffee bread pudding for dessert.

Four of us went for dinner on December 30th and the place was hopping! Our server was excellent and very patient. As it was a family event I didn't want to distract by taking photos, but the food was excellent! Not quite Elisa level, but definitely the runner up to best steakhouse in Vancouver category. The broccolini was nicely crisp, the steaks were perfectly cooked, the mashed potatoes deliciously decadent. The fries were THE BEST I've tasted in almost 15 years, so kudos to the whiz at the fry station! Btw, they have a standardized flat dollar amount mark up on all bottles of wine. I can't remember what it was ($40???), but obviously, this makes ordering nicer bottles of wine FAR more affordable than in any other restaurant in town (where tripling the price of a bottle is common). Something to keep in mind!! Small quibbles: the dirty vesper was so brine-heavy it was undrinkable. The second one was barely drinkable. The desserts were ok. The brûlée was nice in that it wasn't cloyingly sweet. The sticky toffee pudding was mediocre and not worth the calories. Despite the quibbles, we had a great evening. The staff were truly excellent, and it was nice to be dining in such a professional, well managed restaurant. Kudos to the management for retaining and training during this challenging time (to give context, our meal at Blue Water a few weeks ago suffered from less professional staffing). Anyway, that's why I'm giving them 5 stars.

(2.8 ) I came here for happy hour with a few friends to catch up. The restaurant's got a chic garden patio style vibe that I liked. I grabbed the beef carpaccio off the happy hour menu to start and the Sable Fish and Dirty Vesper martini off the regular menu. I thought the food and drink were mediocre to new with both the dishes tasting too salty for me. I didn't see dessert on their menu and the server didn't offer it so I didn't bother. I didn't think i got the right value for the price I was paying. I expected a bit more with and service.

From start to finish, everything about this meal was perfect. The location, ambiance and service are worthy of a great of review in itself. It has been a while since I have been thoroughly satisfied from aperitif to digestif. The oysters are fresh, small and succulent. We shared appy's which were fabulous. The main courses are perfection (not too much butter or sauce trying to compensate for a mediocre dish), beautifully curated ingredients! The wine list has a decent selection, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a variety of ports to choose from. Our server was attentive but not over bearing. Truly excited to return with friends and share our positive experience. I can't forget to mention how much we enjoyed the love music. It really added to the overall experience!

We stumbled upon Riley's while visiting from Seattle, and we're so glad we did. Our server Ali made our night very special, he was so personable and pleasant. He really went above and beyond in getting us an amazing dessert we saw that was for an event and not on the menu. One of the best desserts I've ever tasted, you HAVE TO GET IT ON THE MENU! Adam the musician also blew our minds, he took a request and crushed a song he's never played. Adam also chatted with us about music and gear for a long time, what a great dude! It was totally apparent that the management has got it going on, the employees all seemed like they wanted to be there. My wife and I will be back for sure!

Excellent food. Excellent service. Nice ambiance. My only complaint is that the drinks are overpriced, $25 and they bring you a tiny glass with a 4 sip cocktail. It was a bit ridiculous actually.

This place has some good flavors in their food. But what went well with the food was dinning ala Fresca. Weather was perfect. But please NOTE the food was good too. If ur in the the Vancouver area (west side) try this place for a chill and relaxing dinner. Again try this place .... U might like it!!

Weekend brunch back at rileys, last time I came and it was great so we had to come back for another round to try their other menu items. * Garlic Gruyerre Brioche ($10) ~ bomb last time, and bomb this time the lobster oil paired with the garlic goodness is just phenomenal. 9/10. * Beef carpaccio ($19) ~ this is still a must get its so good and flavorful! Last time I had it was same as this time. Super tender meat and so good. 9/10. * Steak and eggs ($34) ~ I got my steak cooked rare, and my eggs sunny side it was nicely seasoned and egg cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and good. I liked the sear on the steak. It is pricey for brunch but overall the flavors were there. 7.5/10. * Bone marrow eggs ($24) ~ chef kiss it was so buttery and soft and tender. The bone marrow was so flavorful and so delicious and the eggs were fluffy and yummy. I do wish there as more bone marrow as it was on the expensive side since It was mainly egg n potato. (taste: 9.5/10 - value 4/10). * Smash burger ($25) ~ super juicy and thick filling burger with loads of fresh ingredients. The patty was juicy and thick, and the fries were flavorful and crispy. 7.5/10. * Overall it was delicious and a super filling brunch I practically rolled out of there after.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Rileys! We had amazing dinner at the bar area with live music and great food. Amazing selections of fish, seafood and meats. Since we don't eat late we wanted liter dinner so we chose cod and halibut. My halibut was chefs special with white truffles and best melting gnocchi that I ever had in my life! Also we took cream soup and baked oysters. Covered patio seemed like a great idea with heaters and lots of greenery. Service also was very nice! I highly recommend this place.

As soon as we walked in the host (male) was so friendly and kind. We really enjoyed talking to him even after we sat down. My apologies for not knowing his name. Atmosphere was beautiful, wonderful people, customer service was great. We will be back!

Food was really below par for this so called Michelin guided restaurant. The steaks were cheap cuts, the rack of lamb was tough of poor quality. Service was good though and ambience was Ok, tables were too closed to each other.

Finally! With our Vancouver living cost, we finally get a casual and elegant seafood restaurant to match. Rileys is under the Global umbrella. Beautiful, elegant, glam, light decorum with high ceilings and a spectacular seafood bar (I'm on the fence on how "open" it is). Pros Their drinks are already doubles which makes sense at a reasonable market price of a double in the early twenties. Pricing on Seafood, You know when you walk into an old school seafood restaurant and many items are market price. Well, they shoulder that cost and give you an average so you just pay like approximately 200* a tower instead of having that discussion in your head when your bill comes. Love everything on the menu! From add on Foie gras to warm classics and their surf and turf with a mean cocktail menu.

Our waiter was Yurii. He was very pleasant and helpful in answering our questions. He was attentive without smothering us. Also, we enjoyed the jazz guitarist.

One of the best restaurants I went to during my recent stay in Vancouver. This was a Michelin Guide Recommended Restaurant in 2022 and it is clear why. Chose to sit at the bar. Ordered the cocktail Cucumber Pivot and WOW- SO refreshing! The bartenders provided wonderful service. Ordered the steak arugula salad and it was delicious. The ambiance inside is classy, chic and romantic for dates, also. The patio is great with amazing views of the city, ocean and mountains. This restaurant is a must stop. Highly recommend. Will be back next time I am in Vancouver.

Took the wife out to dinner at this new place by the Glowbal group. Been hearing a lot of good things so hope to have a similar experience as well, and going in with high expectations. Ambiance was absolutely stunning. Very nice and large patio and inside seating. Decor very chic and modern. Very romantic and sets the mood. Started with the in-house baked Signature Rileys Brioche bread. Baked with garlic and gruyere, smoked maldon salt, and served with a lobster oil dip. One word: "amazing!" The lobster dip very aromatic and appetizing. Bread so tender and served warm. For mains: we tried the seafood linguini and the sable fish. The linguini was made perfectly. The sauce heavenly. You can smell the fennel and lobster cream. The prawns were huge and the mussels so fresh. The sable fish was probably the best dish of the night. Truly the steak of the sea. The skin was crispy, and meat so flaky and fresh. The fish was served pipping hot and each bite melted like butter in your mouth. A true testament to freshness. It felt as if the fish was just caught and cooked when i ordered. You can literally see the juices ooze out of the fish. A lot of places usually screw up the fish dish, but not this one. It simply proves the talent and skills in the kitchen is top notch, and the attention to detail is impeccable. Had a bit of hiccup with the service, but not enough to take away a star. Mgmt has already reached out and promised to rectify the issue immediately. Cheers! Happy eating!

Excellent service, lovely ambiance and a beautiful patio! I visited last Friday for happy hour with a close friend who was going thru it and in need of margaritas, Riley's did not disappoint. Their happy hour is a shorter one, 2:30-5pm, but we'll worth it. Hand mixed, classic style, lime margaritas for $7 (no premixed garbage here!). It was a little slower on the drink service, but I will not complain as they were made VERY well. Our server was awesome, fast and attentive, very understanding when we sent back the calamari, which was heavily over salted. A one off I'm sure as the Calamari is usually quite popular and a suggestion from the server. We swapped it out for the clams and mussels which were tasty and came with two small bites of bread. The fried chicken appy was very, very good. This chicken dish reminded me of the fried chicken you used to be able to get from Hook when Mike owned it. It didn't come with a dip, but it had so much flavour you really didn't need a dip. We also had their oysters on spesh for $1.50/piece. its difficult to find decent deals on oysters these days. All and all it was an excellent HH and I will definitely be back!

1st thing in the door just after 6 pm (1 hr after opening) the hostess checked me out head to toe & narrowed in on the Fan Expo bag I carried. She asked if we had reservations. When I said no she immediately said we're full. We weren't given an option of waiting a bit to see if there were any cancellations/no shows. She completely treated us like we didn't belong there because of how we looked. Sucks for them because we would've had no trouble affording their snooty menu prices. They've lost not only money from tonight but future visits, as well because we were returning customers. They've had no trouble taking our money before.

We had the most amazing service from Philip. He honestly needs a raise. I've been to so many good restaurants and lately I've been lazy to share or post; Philips service along the amazing food was too much NOT to share. First off in terms of seafood towers blue water doesn't come close. The prawns were huge, oysters included we had kusshis which honestly I'm always getting some east coast ones or Courtney oysters which are not as smooth and sweet. Most places give you their happy hour oysters in the tower im glad this one had some taste. The steak was cooked amazing we wanted it as rare as possible without being too much fat. We even requested some goat cheese fondue even though it's after hours. At first the kitchen said no but Philip said they decided to and he makes us feel so accommodated. What a special surprise to have a restaurant that goes above and beyond. This place has a beautiful setting without the pretentious service and for that I love! My partner and I will be back soon. We were over the moon with Philip and the kitchen tonight. We didn't get the name of the one south Asian fellow but he came multiple times to ask how we were thank you!! Not another cheesy chain. Good job

The food was excellent, the service was superior, and the ambiance was amazing. The manager, Michael Joseph was not only approachable but pleasant and extremely knowledgeable of "his" restaurant and others restaurants in their chain. I wound not only recommend, but advise that you are missing out on a wonderful time at Riley's.

from the time we entered Riley's we felt special with attention from the hostess, bartender, and our server, Jerry. Drinks, food, dessert and coffee were all excellent. live, mellow music was an added plus. great place to celebrate our anniversary and the end of a trip through the Canadian Rockies.

The food. Service and ambiance is wonderful. Our waitress was very congenial and delghtful. The decor is old school with comphy booths but modern lighting and lush green plants. Very very nice!

Considering this is a Michelin Recommended restaurant, it did not live up to our expectations. This is what we thought during our brunch: - appetizers (Riley's Brioche) should arrive before the main course. Instead the bread we ordered came only after we raised the question after our main dishes arrived - the board which the bone marrow scramble eggs was too small making it a challenge to eat - the combination of the hot and cold items for the Benny Bowl (with blue crab meat) didn't pair well

Went here with my family of 5 to celebrate my son's graduation . All first timers and it was a great experience . Our server , Ana was a huge part of that experience , food and drinks suggestions were perfect . As a server myself I can tell how Ana loves her job .

I have very mixed thoughts about this restaurant which was a recurring theme throughout the night. On arrival we happily greeted a staff member who reluctantly glanced at us and walked away. The hostess appeared shortly and was the complete opposite - warm and friendly and happily suggested a high top table for us. We were then lead into the gorgeous open lounge by another employee and seated at a regular table in the corner. This turned out fine as we enjoyed taking in the lovely space. But we also had employees continuously charge out the finnicky side exit next to our table for the first twenty minutes without a second thought. A few unknowingly bumped our chairs while leaving as well. Eventually the hostess kindly put up a sign for us. The décor carried into the main dining room however, we were surprised that the tables were close enough to one another that it required a little thought in navigation to the washroom without bumping other diners. It was a hot night so we each ordered some refreshing cocktails and oysters to start. Oysters were fresh and cocktails were all delicious! We also enjoyed the succulent beef carpaccio, swordfish and crispy brussels sprouts. These were all dishes we'd order again and recommend. Items to skip: striploin (underwhelming) and creamed spinach (sad). CS was an unappetizing liquid mess with barely enough for one fork twirl. We didn't really touch it, and no one noticed. Our server never checked on us, so by the time a different employee noticed we were missing a third entrée, we had already waited over 20 minutes. He tried to locate our server and a manager for us to inquire on the whereabouts of the forgotten dish. We watched as he pointed to our table to the manager, who nodded and then forgot? to come over? When the last dish finally arrived, it'd clearly been sitting on the pass the entire time. At the end of the night, everything worked out. Our busy server reappeared and the manager was kind enough to offer us complimentary desserts. Overall impression most of the food was flavourful and fresh. The misses were hard misses. Understandably, Riley's is a fairly new restaurant and there were glaring inconsistencies in training - a little surprising especially at this level of establishment. There were definitely highlights and a lot of work-in-progress areas.
