Nice quaint Spanish resto, wine selection is excellent and food is just the right portions. I always try to eat a tres leches cake whenever I can and the consistency of it is the standard melt of that cake type (raspberry sauce is interesting though a bit to sweet without the cake neutralizing it) Probably a great date place with someone who enjoys a good wine and a good time rather than bringing a family or big friend group around

Google
This place is a true gem, on the smaller side but quaint! It feels like going to a friend’s house because everyone is so friendly, yet unobtrusive. The food was fantastic. My husband had missed lunch so we tried a few tapas :). The wine selection is solid and I loved what our waiter recommended. Easy place to go back again and again to try all the things!

Google
Excellent tapas dinner at Rincón 38. The service was attentive and the dishes were perfect. We tried the ceviche, empanadas, and patatas bravas. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Others have said that they wish they could give this place more than 5 stars, and I agree. The service was great, lots of happy people. We got there at 5pm on a Friday and it wasn’t super busy so service was very quick. Very cute and intimate space in a nice neighborhood. I did not have any wine, but their selection looked really nice! Flavors were so interesting and tasty. God, were they tasty. I want to come back here for my birthday and get more dishes for sure! Also, dishes were easily made gluten free by asking for bread on the side.

Love this neighborhood gem in South Minneapolis Recently stopped by when in the area for happy hour and it is so nice to see that some things and faces never change! Ordered a few tapas favorites such as the stuffed Piquillo peppers and the Albondigas (meatballs in a saffron tomato broth) and the Plato Iberico - the Spanish charcuterie plate 2 glasses of their house Chardonnay for $12 is a steal these days! Service is fast efficient and friendly familiar faces! Ambiance is as close to being back on vacation in Spain, cute, quaint and Spanish guitar music transports me back to Seville Free parking on the street Check this place out! Wish I lived closer I would prob stop by once a week!!

If you are looking to treat yourself and splurge, consider heading to Rincon38. A beautiful cozy spot in south mpls. Beautiful ambiance. They serve Spanish tapas and worth it if you go in a group so you can share the different tapas. We tried the Colifor, Patatas, Jaiba and Toledo. They were all fabulous. In addition to 2 glasses of wine, our bill was $74.69. It is pricey but well worth it! I hardly give 5 stars, this one deserves it.

Had an incredible experience here! One of the best meals I’ve had in the twin cities so far. Every dish we had was spectacular; we tried the seafood paella, beef empanadas, the pasta negra, and the goat cheese peppers. Our server, Ileana, did an incredible job with recommendations. She ensured our table was clean throughout courses and provided us with fresh silverware. We had the Spanish crème brûlée and the churros for dessert. The churros were my favorite. The food came out so quickly! The atmosphere was very homey, it felt intimate and cozy. You could dress up and feel comfortable, but also wear jeans and feel completely in place too. We will be back!

Yelp
I really love this restaurant. It's been a while since I have been, and every time I get to dine here, I remember how great it is. The restaurant is conveniently located at the corner of 38th and Grand. While there is not a parking lot, you can almost always find street parking right out front. I was absolutely delighted to discover that they have some fun non-alcoholic options, including a zero proof cava, perfect for tapas. There is something for everyone here. Vegetarians and obligate carnivores of all kinds will find several options to suit them on the menu. There are some dishes that we always order (the queso frito and piquillos among them), and today we also got a handful of other old friends--the Toledo (a must-try if you like Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and asparagus... very refreshing!) and the pipirrana (a goat cheese croquetta served atop a lovely stacked tomato salad). We also shared two desserts--the lightest churros ever (served with an excellent cinnamon ice cream and 10/10 chocolate ganache sauce) and a beautiful crema Catalana (if you like crème brûlée, you'll like this--it's got some similarities but is definitely its own dish). Wonderful, friendly service from Ileana made for a sunny experience. It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday evening.

Yelp
I went here with my wife for our anniversary. We were married in Spain so we were hoping to re-live the memory through taste. We ordered the Calamares, Paella Sevillana, Albondigas, Patatas Bravas, and Pasta Negra, along with a bottle of wine. Rinćon 38 did not disappoint! The food was great. Service was excellent, and we loved the overall look and feel of the restaurant. It was definitely the closest we've felt to Spain in Minnesota. It was a little pricey, but definitely worth it for a special occasion or if you're really craving authentic tapas. We'll definitely be making this our go-to for future anniversary dinners!

Yelp
Good ambience. Service was friendly and at the ready. Had 5 plates and 4 glasses of wine. A little over $100 which seemed about right.

Yelp
if you have been to Jaleo, in DC, come here and find out... it's better. I'm in love. I will bring everyone I know.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing!!! Every dish we tried had more favor than the next. Service was definitely 5 star quality!! There wasn't a minute that an empty dish sat or waters were not topped off. The thriller was when they delivered my husbands dessert with a lit candle in honor of his birthday. Ambiance was quiet and calm. Highly recommend the restaurant if you want incredible food with impeccable service!!!

Yelp
Incredible food, attentive staff, and cozy atmosphere. A perfect place for a date or to celebrate a special occasion. Every dish was flavorful and filling, we had a group of 7 people and we each ordered two plates and felt full at the end of the meal! My favorites were the meatballs and the beet salad. Will definitely be back again to try more! There is street parking and the inside is not too large so make sure to get a reservation if you're going with a group!

Yelp
If this is your first time trying tapas... just remember you don't need to order all your tapas at once. Savoring your tapas is all part of the quintessential dining experience. The food is absolutely amazing - everything we tasted melted in other mouths. We highly recommend the Malaga, Pasta Negro, and Toledo. Definitely a go-to place for date night or with a small group. Waiters are very attentive, and super nice atmosphere.

Yelp
First and great experience, very nice service and delicious Food greatly recommend. Thanks for let us enjoy the time, Ileana and Ricardo do an excellent customer service. Cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
If you love tapas and live in Minneapolis, Rincón 38 is definitely worth trying. Food are exceptionally delicious. The Toledo, vieras, pasta negra and the Carne brava we randomly picked have satisfied both our eyes and mouth. Anything we saw on the tables next to us are different and awesome. The house sangria isn't too sweet, which is great, and highly recommended. Services and ambiance are on par with the food. It might not be best fit for large group dinner, but definitely a place I would save for the near and dear.

Yelp
- The space is cute, casual, and quaint. - There is free street parking available in the area. -The service was friendly and fast. - I like that instead of getting a full glass of wine, you can order a tasting (for $5.50). Great for those who don't want to drink much or sample several varieties. - Potato and Chorizo Empanadas were delicious. Light on the meat, but full of flavor. - Texture of the calamari seemed different. Like it was too tender... or perhaps I'm just used to the rings (which their's is not). Overall lovely experience. My one "wish" would be if they could add purse hooks under the bar for the convenience of those seated there.

Yelp
Hey Travoodies Hey! Business meetings are always better when there is food involved. I was invited to discuss some exciting matter over amazing Spanish food. About the place! Rincon 38 located in a cute neighborhood offering a amazing spanish experience. This tapas bar made me feel sas though I was transported into Spain with its vibes. What kind of food is tapas? Traditionally they are small savoury dishes, snacks or appetisers of Spanish cuisine. I started off with a glass of wine that was so refreshing. Its on their summer selection and of course I forgot the name. For my savory options, here is what I chose: Albondigas - spanish style meatballs served in a saffron - tomato broth and grilled bread. Pefectly seasonedwith the right amount of spce. Make sure to ask for ectra garlic because the broth is great. Patatas Bravas - baby potatoes, cinfit asparagus, spanish chorizo, roasted atichokes, pimento, sherry wine drizzled with saffron aioli. I could not put my far down when eating this dish. The sherry wine drizzle with saffron aioli explodes in your mouth after each bite. Leaving the veggies and chorizo sauced with deliciousness. Coliflor - cripsy fried saffron poached cauliflower tossed with citron pepper, parsley oil and aioli. One who is not a huge fan of cauliflower, each floret melted in your mouth like butter. Seasoned with the right about spice with crunchy exterior it was definitely a hit with me & Empanads... What else can I say other than m m m good. Everything was so delicious and the service was on point. If you are in the area please stop by and enjoy.

Yelp
Still fabulous.... Great little gem of a restaurant. Piquillo peppers stuffed with truffled goat cheese and asparagus.... Rack of lamb. Fingerling potatoes, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts... seafood paella. I was hungry today
google avatar

Yelp
Love this restaurant! The fried halloumi is out of this world! The service is outstanding. It's the most charming, authentic tapas spot in Minneapolis!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute restaurant with a chill vibe. Got the paella which was delicious! Service was outstanding.

Yelp
Today, we visited Ricon 38 (authentic Spanish food) in South Minneapolis. The three of us shared Coliflor (crispy cauliflower), Jaiba (crab cakes), and Toledo (mixture of Brussel sprouts and mushrooms). They were all phenomenal! I wanted more!! For our meals, I had the Pollo (never had better tasting chix). My hubby had Paella Sevillana (rice, beef, chix, pork and sausage with peppers). He enjoyed his meal. But, he wasn't crazy about the rice! I loved the rice! My son had Carne Brava (tenderloin, mushrooms etc). I recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or just a nice meal. The service was excellent! On street parking. The meal was more expensive than what we usually pay. But, to me, it was worth it. No leftovers for tomorrow!
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
I've absolutely been sleeping on this restaurant. Amazing neighborhood place in south Minneapolis with the best Spanish food. It's tapas style eating so small plates to share and man I was blown away. Hot tip - it's a super small space so try to get a reservation if you can! My boyfriend and I ordered the chorizo and potato empanadas, the stuffed peppers, the scallops, the rack of lamb, and the braised octopus. The tempranillo red wine was of course amazing and they had a really nice selection of all Spanish wines. Favorite dishes were the stuffed peppers, scallops, and rack of lamb!! Go here asap! Support local!

Wenyi W.

Yelp
Second time here. Service is always great. Here are my favorites: 1. Vieras: Large and tender scallop with creamy spinach and roasted breads. 2. Borrego: Tender lamb rack and slightly sweat taste. 3. Pasta Negra: Seafood black ink spaghetti 4. Dessert - churros: crispy and fragrant! hot churros is great coupled with ice cream

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in the whole county. We try to get here at least once a year. I don't even like flan and their coffee flan is my favorite dessert. There is nothing on the menu that is not perfection. The service is amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Cozy spot with fantastic food. Very authentic spanish cuisine. The service is kind and helpful. Our food came up very quickly.

Yelp
Had a very lovely night at Rincon 38! The restaurant is small and intimate that is created by the music and mood lighting. The service was very good with our waiter being very attentive. The food was spaced out well coming out 2 dishes out a time. We did have an incident with a large piece of hair in the spinach under/in a scallop. They brought us a new one right away that was hot and the best part of the meal. Every dish was beautiful plated but lacked an ooph of flavor and umami. We tried a lot of the heavy hitter plates recommended on yelp totaling $110 for 2 people with no drinks. For a tapas restaurant this isn't too bad but I did come in with high expectations as far as flavor profiles and texture combinations. We went on a Thursday night and were able to talk with a few others in the restaurant otherwise it might a be a bit loud. Recommend: Vierias (scallops) and Coliflor Do not recommend: Patatas Bravas - bland and greasy, squid ink pasta - overcooked shrimp and drowning in sauce, churros - too big so make sure to share but are also bland

Mark P.

Yelp
This was a cool place! There was so much variety in food and it was fun to pick and choose. Service was very good as well. Perhaps a bit spendy but will still go back.
google avatar

Jakesa T.

Yelp
It's so easy to over-indulge here. The plates are small and they do a FANTASTIC job of keeping them coming or encouraging you to keep them coming (all in good fun). After trying 2-3 things, you'll want to keep going. This space is very intimate, meaning small and you'll likely hear your neighbor's coversation (they'll hear yours too ;)) But you'll be able to share your experiences and flavor explosion with each other. The peppers are a must-try, but really you can't go wrong with whatever you decide. Excellent service and excellent food.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
There was nothing wrong with their food but for a $83 plus tips check, I had higher expectations: I was neither inspired during or after the meal as I am used to a higher bar set by tapas restaurants in DC metro area with a more complex taste to their dishes. I also noticed there are not that much competition with there not being too many Spanish/tapas restaurants in MSP. Good service by the wait staff.

Yelp
We stopped here for dinner before a comedy show on a Sunday night. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. We had never tried tapas before and we are so happy this was our first experience. Everything we tried was fantastic. Perfect size plates for 2 people. Our server was awesome and so attentive. We ordered food as we went and he checked on us often! The home made sangria was fabulous, and perfect for wine lovers. Our favorite plate of food was either the halibut or the piquillos but everything we tried was amazing. We will be back! Small restaurant full of fun and flavor! A must try if you are in the area!
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Definitely a five star restaurant. Any stars below four, ignore. The plating, service and flavor profiles are all deserving of the prices. Service: The service was very on par with a tapas style restaurant, we were allowed time to finish a couple plates with time in between ordering further plates. We hardly knew the waiter was there, even though he was attentive the whole time, quietly caring for our needs, including filling our glasses with the bottle of wine we purchased. Tapas: Every tapas we tried was worth every bite, of course we had our favorites. We will definitely be ordering again the following: Pipirrana, Datiles, Paella Sevillana. Dessert: The Crema Catalana was superb. Very reminiscent of Creme Brûlée, but even creamier. This dessert is a must. Wine: We purchased a bottle of the Volver, which is a Tempranillo grape varietal. It had a nice body, slightly dry but paired nicely with every dish. Tip: Make reservations a couple days ahead of time, especially if your dinner party is five or more. Also prepare your mindset, this is upscale dining, so expect to spend a bit more. But don't worry it is worth the price.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for dinner on a Thursday night and had a delightful time. We made a reservation in advance, which I definitely recommend given how small the place is. The waitstaff were super attentive and answered all our questions about the menu items. We asked how many dishes they recommended for two people, and they said 4-5. Maybe we were just extra hungry, but we ended up getting 6 dishes and dessert, and that felt like a good amount of food. My rating of the dishes: Amazing: Vieras, Albondigas, Campestre, Borrego, Flan Good: Datiles, Tres Leches Cake Meh: CalamarI, Churros There's a substantial wine list, but almost nothing in the way of cocktails. I got a sangria and definitely would not get it again. I wish they'd step up their drink game. This place is definitely pricey for what you're getting, but the food and atmosphere are worth it. I'll be coming back to sample more of the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely little tapas bar in South Minneapolis. Came here with a couple girlfriends and we ordered four tapas and two desserts to share. The food was delicious - preserving the essence of Spanish tapas but with a little extra flair to it. You can order a few tapas, assess how everyone's feeling, then order more tapas. Portions were larger than some other tapas places I've been to in the US, though of course still smaller than what you would expect in Spain. I liked how they had tasting, glass, and bottle options for drinks. Overall fantastic dining experience. Street parking.
google avatar

Katherine G.

Yelp
Incredible cuisine and wine selection. The service is attentive, never rushed. I treasure the times we go to Rincon, as in times of a global pandemic it gets me as close to Spain as I can be without traveling.
google avatar

K S.

Yelp
Beautifully presented, Delicious food!! Everything was fantastic! Food came out fast. Service was wonderful!
google avatar

Kirk H.

Yelp
There are so many good things on the menu, that we HAVE to return again. But this visit was superb. Our server was very friendly, and super helpful with recommendations and information about each dish. This is a tapas place, but the dishes are for the most part decent sized. However, you definitely want to order several just so you can share them and try many options. We had the Campestre, a tasty salad to start out with, then Jaiba with a sauce which we had to get bread to finish (it was SO good!). A special with shrimp was a little skimpy, with only a two (albeit large) shrimp, and not the tastiest choice, but you can't get everything prefect. Oh, and the house sangria was also delish.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
First visit tonight won't be our last! We did 5 tapas for the two of us and all were great but the superstars for me were the paella, borrego and Toledo. Dessert was churros and the coffee flan, both of which were outstanding and a perfect finish to a wonderful meal.

Jenny M.

Yelp
My first visit to Ricon 38 for dinner earlier this evening was pleasant. I read good reviews abt this place which prompted me to check it out. I'm glad I went. The food was good! Tried four different plates: Empanadas (beef version) was good, Toldeo was not bad. Carne Brava was very good. Churros was yummy. It's a nice, cute small resturant. Seats abt 40 ppl inside. Read from the reviews, someone suggested to make reservations, I did via Open Table and would suggest that as well. The staff very friendly and service was very good. I will definitely go back again. I highly recommend this place. P.S. To that sweet couple that was seated next to me, thank you so much for the nice surprise of paying my bill!

Lisa B.

Yelp
We had a delightfully memorable birthday dinner for our daughter here last week--cozy, super attentive wait staff, delicious food. They helped us not over order--it was just right. Delicious desserts. We'll for sure be back!
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
We had an incredible date night here a few weeks ago. We sat at one of the outdoor tables along the side walk and enjoyed four of the different small plates. The server was knowledgeable and helped us figure out how much to order (I was a little limited in how much I could eat by being 38 weeks pregnant!). When we go back, we will likely get more than four plates but the four were perfect. We ended up with the piquillos, malaga, calamari, and one other dish I can't remember but they were all delicious! The service was prompt and I think it would be a great place to order a few dishes at a time as you go. I've heard the wine list is also great and look forward to exploring that at our next visit. We were able to get a reservation a few days ahead of time but it's a small space, so probably worth a try if going on a weekend night.

Jeff J.

Yelp
Left full as always yesterday. Great food. Excellent wine. One of the only places in town you can get a decent glass of sherry.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Such a gem! Service was attentive, even as the restaurant got more crowded. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu including the sauces and accompaniments. On his suggestion, we got the piquallos (fabulous), the scallops (honestly some of the best I have ever had), the queso fristo (so good) and paella. The menu was so extensive and so many dishes sounded amazing that I will be back to try more! Wine list was very good with wines that pair well with the food. Our Elonte (?) Chardonnay was wonderful. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Aishah A.

Yelp
Had the best time here at Rincon, so good we forgot to take pictures but the dishes were memorable. Specifically the date, bacon, jam was soooo delicios and the scallop plate was done very well. It is true tapas so each plate is either 2 good size bites, we cut a lot a of these in half, or about 1/2 of carb with meat/veggies mixed. We had a group of 6 and ordered about 8 plates. Outdoor seating is on the sidewalk, the staff was attentive. They had sangria and an extensive wine list. Other drink options are minimal but plenty enough for a group.

Sarah J.

Yelp
got a last second reservation for new years. stellar service with the kind of food that makes your stomach wish it was bigger. highly recommended.

Susan B.

Yelp
Love this little gem of a restaurant. Lots of really good tapas on their menu. They're all so good. Have to be careful as you want to try many of them and it can add up fast. Nice outdoor area. Cozy inside. Perfect for a date night.

Yelp
Pasta is so tasty with fresh seafood and the service was nice too, would definitely revisit again

Yelp
Excellent food -- everything on the menu is delicious. Wonderful staff. Fun music. Can sit outside and bring your dog.
google avatar

Ashley Y.

Yelp
Delightful little tapas spot. It's small, intimate and perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend.
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. And for Tapas, the portions were bigger than anticipated which was a treat. Two of us split 4 plates so next time we will go with a crowd to try more. I love having so many delicious places right in my neighborhood. If only someone could wrangle in the winters so they're not 8 months long.
google avatar

Yana A.

Yelp
Rincón was an amazing hole in the wall spot. The tapas style dishes were for perfect for sampling & trying different things. The food was cooked to perfection & instantly transported you to Spain. The service was also amazing, everyone was very friendly. Not just a yummy meal shared with friends but a culinary experience.
google avatar

Christine P.

Yelp
Not sure why I didn't visit here sooner. My husband and I absolutely loved it. We had a reservation for right at 3 when they opened and were able to enjoy happy hour and the full menu. I can't wait to go back for the iberico and octopus. They were my favorite. I also enjoyed the happy hour white wine for $5. I believe the owner was also our server and he was very attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is really cute with delicious tapas & nice wines & beer on tap. Great for dates, intimate! Great attentive service! Tried sea bass and scallops. All good. :)

Yelp
The food and service are both amazing! It is a great place to share a meal with friends and family.

Yelp
Decided to finally pay a visit to this underrated Spanish tapas haven for my mother's birthday and we were not disappointed. I really love this area of Minneapolis and it's many hidden gems. There is easily available street parking. The establishment accepts reservations but there were definitely walk-in options if necessary. The interior gives me 3 musketeer stone vibes with torch lighting and fresco paintings on the walls. The staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations! They bring the food in rounds and really know the perfect timing to serve the patrons. As is the tapas style, we ordered a variety of dishes to share. We started with the Piquillos, stuffed peppers with goat cheese and asparagus with a crunchy crostini base. Next was the Vieras with seared scallops, a creamy butter sauce, and a wonderful mixture of fresh vegetables and slaw. Then, the lobster saffron pasta with the perfect hint of rich and vivid spice and truffle cream. I have also never tasted a tres leches cake more perfect...a must to perfectly frame the meal. Can't wait to go back and try all of their creative and flavorful dishes! :)
