"This stunning castle, which is mentioned in written records as far back as the 14C, is idyllically situated in beautiful grounds. In addition to their tastefully decorated hotel, Alexandra and Andreas Rehberger also offer an appealing winter garden-style restaurant. While the chef-patron cooks up seasonal cuisine with produce from the region, his charming partner has excellent wine advice for you." - Michelin Inspector

You will feel like royalty from arrival to departure. A fairy tale castle hotel with modern facilities. Large rooms and minibars. Parking on the grounds. Lovely to wander the gardens and forests. Excellent dining both breakfast and dinner.

Literally got "Schlossed" in this magnificent castle hotel. Just like in the movies a castle with pristine gardens and huge grounds. Interiors are very well maintained and modernized yet still pertaining the castle vibes with high wooden ceilings and connecting passages. Restaurant boasted sophisticated delicacies with a twist, the team was extremely welcoming and helpful in making our stay exceptional.

Magnificent. From arrival to departure My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay at this unique, ancient castle turned hotel set on a hilltop in the middle of the forrest. In terms of the buildings and the rooms, it’s old-meets-new balanced just the right way. The hotel operators were hands on from the get-go and throughout and generally the staff was friendly and forthcoming. We dined at the lovely restaurant set inside the hotel, which serves dishes made mainly from local produce alongside good wines (natural wines as well, which my wife loves) as well as great non-alcoholic options. The food was delicious, the atmosphere relaxed and the chairs were comfortable while the service was immaculate. After a walk through the charming park, we slept really well in the generous rooms with comfortable beds and woke up to the sounds of birds singing in the trees outside. Breakfast was served in the stunning dining hall. No buffet, but rather a nice ensemble of fresh butter, meats and cheeses to go along with crisp pastries. We also had the option of ordering different kinda of eggs, yoghurt and some sort of pancakes. Almost overwhelming. The coffee was fresh and tasty. Various teas were also available on option. In short; great stay and highly recommend—we’ll be back soon!

Amazing place! Beautifully maintained castle turned hotel and restaurant. The staff is wonderful and the location is magical! I highly recommend this lovely old castle. My room was large with a separate living room and dining room. The Forrest surrounding the castle is nice to walk and get lost in its magic!

It is difficult to describe how beautiful and amazing this 13 century castle turned hotel is. Staff is helpful, warm, and very good at their jobs. The castle itself is beautiful and super well-maintained. My room was very large with great amenities and a super comfortable bed. Ralph who runs the foundation that oversees the castle, is amazing and truly loves the property as he should. I cannot recommend a hotel enough as it is spectacular!

Just had a lovely dinner at their restaurant. Quiet and comfortable atmosphere with attentive service. Dishes are certainly aspired to offer an experience of fine dining. So long you're not expecting a michelin star level, you'll be reasonably satisfied. One of best restaurants in the area.

This is a review of the hotel AND restaurant. Hotel first: we had a wonderful stay in this romantic and remotely located castle-hotel. The rooms come in different shapes and sizes from modest in the annex next door, to spacious and castle-like in the main building. Bathrooms are modern and spotless clean. The hotel itself is located on top of a small mountain in a forrest with a wonderfully romantic park. The location is also very quiet. Few other sounds than the birds chirping. Breakfast served at the table was of excellent quality and quantity. I probably never had such good quality bread in a hotel. The restaurant: we had a 3 course menu. Each and every dish was somehow unique or interesting in terms of composition, tastes and visuals. We were absolutely blown away. The same can be said for the wines so competently selected and served with regional Franconian as well as Austrian and other wines on the menu. Conclusion: The price for value in both hotel and restaurant was absolutely stellar. The experience was exceptional and we hope to come back for a special occasion like a wedding anniversary or just if we feel like treating ourselves to a great and memorable dinner. I think 5 stars are well deserved in every category. P.S. The team currently running hotel and restaurant apparently started in the fall of last year (2020). Older reviews might thus not properly reflect the current service.
