Absolutely Fabulous, hadn't been here since the mid 90's, before it closed down. They did a great job refurbishing it to a classic nostalgic feel.....

The string quartet did a wonderful job. The venue was beautifully staged and our historic theater. Would have light for the members of the quartet to stand and introduce himself and give a little bio. Look forward to the next one.

Las Cruces folks are some of the politest, friendliest you're ever gonna find, and watching the awards day of the Las Cruces International Film Festival was living proof. The theater is beautifully restored and it was a joy to see so much local talent recognized and honored in this magical space!

Such a cool theater! This place hosted an incredible historic live stream of the Virgin Galactic space flight from Spaceport America. The theater was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful especially with the delay of the launch. The event included light refreshments, cool Virgin Galactic merch and even cupcakes after to celebrate the momentous occasion. This was my first time at the theater and it was totally worth it. So excited for the future of New Mexico, where space exploration first began! Would love to visit this theater again for more events. Don't miss out on this incredible place!

400+ seat theater. Exciting location for multiple venues from film screenings to full music and stage productions with space for displays of original art. Newly refurbished.

Went to the first Candlelight concert for the theater. It’s a small but beautiful theater. I’m excited for the next show at the Rio Grande! I do have to share one warning, if you’re prone to overheating bring a fan. I know theaters can get warm but this was more than usual. Loved the show as well!

Concerts here are the best. Beautiful historic venue with no bad seats. Once again we were in a sold out packed house, featuring a Fleetwood Mac tribute band and a lively vocal audience who hollered and cheered in throwback to younger years, defying their age. So nice to see young folks there as well. Their parents and grandparents exposed them to good music.

I was highly disappointed with this theatre and its staff specifically a certain Theodore. My husband, me and our three children all under the age of 13 went to go see a play at this theatre. We drove an hour and some change to go see it. We paid 100 dollars for all of our tickets. This was a special enough play for that based on a family favorite, "Jesus Christ Superstar". When we got there, instead of being treated to a rendition based on the original, much to our shock, they had a female playing Jesus and her disciples were a mix of transgender, female and male. What a mockery they tried to do of our King and Saviour. We felt bamboozled. My three children were instantly ashamed and looked down while my husband and I squirmed in our seats. How should we see this show for God Himself had told us to come and see?We tried to be open minded...a female Jesus, perhaps look at it in a spiritual sense...but not when we noticed and recalled Mary Magdalane. And furrowed our brows at the stake in place of a cross. Total chaos on that stage in reference to the holy things. Desecration and blasphemy against Our Creator and Saviour. I don't judge their lifestyles. I too was once a sinner like them but what I stand here and judge today is their sinful treatment of our Lord and Savior and His holiness. That is what I protest. Plus the fact that they lured people to see their play through false advertising on radio airwaves. They advertised the play as just another faithful rendition of the original. The original has a male Jesus which is proper since that was His gender. And we who are biblical scholars know why He had to come as a man versus a woman. He was atoning for the first Adam's sin. So thankful for that. So we had to walk out of the show despite our desire to be open-minded. Our godly conscience didn't permit us to stay. We had to walk out in protest as if to say we break off our agreement with this play. We will not sit down and listen to what you have to say about Our Savior for how can flesh commune of spiritual things? We left, feeling sexually assaulted by the enemy. I cried the first part of the way home. The Holy Spirit in me was sad. He was grieved. He cried through me. The more I thought about it the more I reasoned why the Lord had us go there. I understood a standard was needed. They hadn't been told? So we emailed them and told them what had happened and asked for a refund and we would leave in peace. No such thing happened. Instead Theodore said policy did not permit a refund. Despite the assault on our persons, (remember my children), and explaining what they had transgressed, this company buckled down and stuck to their policy. We told them plainly that their policy will not cover them in God's court of law. He is our Judge, our Lawgiver and our Attorney and He saw what they did. Their crime? BLASPHEMING GOD'S SON. Then came the warning to them to not mess with holy things like communion, God's name and God's Son. Doing so will heap divine judgment on themselves. They did not care. Policy was their covering. Despite their unwillingness to right this wrong, and be righteous, we were willing to forgive. But today the Lord put the word tolerate in my mind and I knew He meant for me to look it up in the context of Revelation 2, the church of Thyatira. And what is the warning of God to us believers in Christ? We tolerate that woman Jezebel who teaches people to be sexually immoral and to sacrifice to idols. You know what that word tolerate means in the Greek? It means to forgive and release from her debt. I tell you now unless you repent of your sins and come under the Lordship of Jesus Christ you will by no means be forgiven. The one you blaspheme, Rio Grande Theatre, director and cast of Jesus Christ Superstar/a liberal rendition, is your only means to salvation! Repent! Come to the light while there is still time. Come to the Lord Jesus Christ. You will not be forgiven any other way. Repent or you will be left behind for the great tribulation. The Lord Jesus stands at the door and knocks. Will you open?

Yelp
Food and tickets were great-low prices. Saw "A Midsummer Nights Western "-good but not great. Poor direction allowed actors to abuse Southern accents, miss lines, and drop Fbombs to cover their mistakes. While the Audience may not know the difference- the playwright does. Bad and lazy direction by the director!!!

Yelp
First time being to the theater since I was a child before they remodeled. I was impressed by the clean environment and comfortable atmosphere. The concessions offered some nice candy choices and the drink cups are nice keepsakes of your experience. We went to see Med-illusions and magic of Raze MD and I found the show itself amazingly done and the performance to be Vegas quality! Never had seen a magic show with people sawed in half before the the theatrics and performance was just amazing. What a wonderful night.

Yelp
What a lovely gem! The charm of the old theater remains intact. But they have updated sound and screen. A small concession stand in the front serves soda, beer, wine and popcorn. Prices are reasonable. Keep your to go cup you get for $1 off your beverage your next time there. Be sure to catch the special showings from local film makers and, our favorites, the classic films they show again on the bid screen. It's wonderful to enjoy movies you have seen on TV a million times and loved there on the big screen again. Often they are introduced by the presenters with tidbits about the film you may not have known. Tickets aren't stupid crazy. For us both, with fees, buying online we spent less than $20 for tickets to one of these classic films. The theater is well tended and kept. Seats are comfy, balcony is charming, folks who work there are super friendly and parking is easy in the bank lot across the street.

Yelp
Rio Grande Theater is in the heart of downtown Las Cruces. It's a historical landmark. This small theater shows movies and performances. I enjoyed their free Christmas Sing A Long.

Yelp
Seriously... this quaint little gem is nestled in the heart of Las Cruces. The theater building itself is original and in tact. The screen and sound is newer. The concession is cute and small, but extremely affordable. They do have discounts to some of the shows from time to time. Be sure to check in.
