"Opened in 2008 by then Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan, Riordan’s Tavern was an upscale steakhouse located next to the Original Pantry Cafe. It was part of Riordan’s portfolio of restaurants and closed its dining room amid the COVID-19 pandemic, never to reopen." - Matthew Kang

This is the closest thing to a real Pub in DTLA. Owned by a former Mayor mayor, and close to Staples Center, it's a good spot to pre game and also good for happy hour, but it's good to eat and drink at any time. More if an old school feel, but you can get a good meal and watch the game there is you aren't going to the game. Seems I can always walk in to get a drink and dinner easy without too much wait.

Good food but the servers could be warmer. I didn't plan on coming here. But having failed plan A next door (the original pantry cafe, I've given it a twenty minutes waiting so it's fair), I've decided to just walk in at the Riordan. While I was being seated and served immediately, the servers don't seem to be overly joyous. They were busy talking among themselves though. It looks bad from a customer's eyes. The corned beef sandwich came out as quickly as I could order it. It was warm crispy and delicious. While it wasn't out of this world, it served its purpose. I'd come back and try other dishes at different times, and probably not going to the pantry. Let's be honest, the pantry sure is an icon and has been in the community for a long time, it's still just a diner. It isn't a gourmet restaurant. To stand in line just to be seated for so so to just ordinary food isn't really something we should encourage. On the other hand, the servers at the Riordan could improve by being more approachable. My server Zamri probably couldn't wait to get rid of his customers as soon as they have finished eating. I was handed the bill even I've told him I'd take a few minutes break. That's always a turn off. For that reason alone, I'll refrain from ordering a dessert and a coffee.

We were about to go next door but the 2 hours line made us change our mind. This pub is literally next door and serves exactly the same breakfast as the pantry ! Food was delicious, a must go if you don’t want to wait in line for breakfast !

I really don’t know where to start... Anziz is an EXCELLENT waiter & Bryon (host) is just as EXCELLENT. From the moment I walked in to the second I walked out I felt welcomed. The food was great, the wait was worth it & I will be back and have already recommended this place. This place and the original pantry cafe are owned by the same people but this place have adult beverages.

We were seated quickly and the food portions are equivalent to the cost. Definitely a great alternative to waiting at The Original Pantry for an HOUR just to step inside...and the fooood is GOOOOD!

If you want to go to the pantry on the weekends, but don't like waiting in line, come here! Same great pantry breakfast, but you can have mimosas (unfortunately not bottomless) or an Irish coffee. Plus they accept credit cards. The best part? No waiting! Love coming here for a great brunch!

We went there for steak and bear. We had sirloin steak: generous portion and the cooking was spot on. The plate was very generous as well. The beer was also very good (Guinness on tap). All at a fair price. Oh and service was excellent.

The Tavern had good atmosphere and the bar food was tasty, the waitress was friendly and pleasant....even though she was the hostess, waitress, busboy, food and drink server. How she managed to keep a smile on her face and stay in good spirits while taking care of a full house all by herself I do not know. Massive kudos to her!!!
