Best Classic Restaurants in Fort Worth | Eater Dallas

"Riscky’s is a family-owned barbecue joint that has been serving its community since 1927, earning a reputation for its consistency. The original location on Azle Avenue is a short drive from the Stockyards and still sports much of its signage from decades ago. It’s great for grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner, and the simple yet satisfying menu offers all the classic barbecue dishes, including brisket, pork and beef ribs, pulled pork, and sausage. Be sure to check out the other locations at Stockyards Station, Sundance Square, and West Side Camp Bowie — to name a few. Good for: A casual lunch or dinner with old school charm and history — oh, and some good old Texas barbecue" - Michael Ellington

Had a great time at Riscky’s Barbecue! The atmosphere is casual and fun, perfect for hanging out with friends and family. COLD BEER!!! The drinks were cold and refreshing, and the fried pickles were absolutely addicting with just the right amount of crunch. The mozzarella sticks were gooey and satisfying, pairing perfectly with the ranch dip. The staff was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, and the service was quick even though the place was busy. The laid-back vibe and solid food make Riscky’s a great spot to relax and enjoy a casual meal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Fort Worth and looking for a classic barbecue joint with a fun atmosphere!

Family night at Riscky’s. This is a family friendly place with lots of great Texas style barbecue dishes! Disclaimer: we’ve been going here for YEARS and our go-to favorites are the all you can eat ribs and the gunslinger burger. We also enjoyed fried pickles and jalapeno cheese curds to start. Everything was hot and delicious! My hubby ordered Texas fries on the side of his burger and sadly they were overly salty, but our server tonight named Tiny got them replaced and they were a hit! Tiny went above and beyond and is hands down one of our favorites servers in the industry so we will definitely ask for him to take care of us again in the future. If you’re ever in Texas and want some good ol’ fashioned BBQ- go to Riscky’s!

This is a nice barbecue spot with a good variety of meat choices. I tried the pulled pork, which was not labeled as spicy — and it definitely was spicier than I expected. I also ordered a potato salad on the side, but it was way too sour for my taste, likely because of too much vinegar. Overall, the basket (without bread) felt a little small, and I was still hungry after finishing. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s a pedestrian area. There’s a large lot close by, but it’s expensive (around $15 for a few hours). If you’re willing to walk about 10/15 minutes, you can find free parking further out. The area is quite touristy but rather enjoyable for locals as well.

I recently visited Riscky’s BBQ in Fort Worth and had high expectations, especially with the reputation the place has. I ordered the Full Smoker 3 Meat Plate, choosing brisket, pulled pork, and beef ribs, along with three sides: beans, mac n cheese, and smashed potatoes. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with nearly every part of the meal. The beef ribs were especially underwhelming, the bones barely had any meat on them. The brisket was dry and lacked the tenderness and juiciness I expect from a good Texas BBQ spot. The pulled pork had very little flavor and was equally forgettable. As for the sides were also a letdown, it was obvious they weren't freshly prepared, all of them tasted like they had been frozen and reheated, lacking the freshness and homemade touch you’d expect at a good BBQ restaurant. I finished the meal with pecan pie and vanilla ice cream, and honestly, that was the only part of the meal I truly enjoyed. I’ve been in several BBQ restaurants across Dallas, and compared to those, this visit to Riscky’s was surprising, but unfortunately not in a good way. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. There are plenty of better options for quality BBQ in the area.

A BBQ favorite in such a fun location! 🐂 It's right in the middle of the Fort Worth Stockyards itself, and I don't think there is a more iconic atmosphere than that! We've been to the Camp Bowie Riscky's and this Stockyards one so many times, and we've always had positive experiences! The brisket has the perfect smoked flavor and is so tender. I always get the brisket tacos 😋 When we still lived in Fort Worth, this Riscky's at the Stockyards was where we always took our out-of-state guests so they could experience top-notch BBQ in an iconic setting! It was the perfect two-fer! That's exactly what we did on our last visit, but this time it was a two-fer for us since we no longer live in Texas. I just love getting to sit outside with the Stockyards view right there! Such a unique experience, and one that can only be done at the Riscky's BBQ at the Stockyards! Don't forget to ask for a to-go reusable souvenir cup as you leave! We have a bunch in our cupboard and use them every day, and we just added 4 more to our "collection" haha. If you live in Fort Worth and just want to try the food without needing to go to the Stockyards too, visiting one of their other locations is great too. If you're from out of town or you want to go to the Stockyards anyway, this Riscky's location is perfect!

If you come to Fort Worth, you have to come here. This is a tourist attraction BBQ. You can't go wrong with taste and service. This was my second time and it was still good 😉 We went with several people and the Pulled Pork was easy to eat and well received. It would be nice if you could see it being grilled.

We were here for the day from out of state and decided to stop in. Huge indoors and outdoor sitting area. We had a lot of fun. The food was good and the drinks as well. Our server was attentive and gave us suggestions as of what to order. Kid friendly We had one of the platters, pulled pork sandwich and kids meals.

Very good food and service. We got the brisket tacos and fish tacos and split them. Very good banana pudding and bread pudding.
