I recently visited Riscky’s BBQ in Fort Worth and had high expectations, especially with the reputation the place has. I ordered the Full Smoker 3 Meat Plate, choosing brisket, pulled pork, and beef ribs, along with three sides: beans, mac n cheese, and smashed potatoes.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with nearly every part of the meal. The beef ribs were especially underwhelming, the bones barely had any meat on them. The brisket was dry and lacked the tenderness and juiciness I expect from a good Texas BBQ spot. The pulled pork had very little flavor and was equally forgettable.
As for the sides were also a letdown, it was obvious they weren't freshly prepared, all of them tasted like they had been frozen and reheated, lacking the freshness and homemade touch you’d expect at a good BBQ restaurant.
I finished the meal with pecan pie and vanilla ice cream, and honestly, that was the only part of the meal I truly enjoyed.
I’ve been in several BBQ restaurants across Dallas, and compared to those, this visit to Riscky’s was surprising, but unfortunately not in a good way.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. There are plenty of better options for quality BBQ in the area.
