Went in for the first time for breakfast. It was a friend's birthday. Got seated quickly, and our server quickly attended to us. The portions are huge( I mean TEXAS STYLE HUGE). We could not finish our portions and the food tasted pretty good

Omg. 10/5 stars! Server was amaziing!! Food was delicious!a Definitely coming back! And I don't know if anybody else will find this fascinating or not with the aquarium they have by the register has like the most neon pink angel fish I've ever seen in my life.. random fact.

Google
Visited on a weekday after local graduation. Only 1 server who was doing her best to keep up. Establishment aware of graduation so not sure why only 1 server on duty. Food good, not fancy, old school interior but, clean. Lots of parking. Restrooms clean too.

Google
Service was good waitresses was nice and checked on us . Food was good not great but good Definitely had comfort foods The prices were also affordable The restaurant seemed to be outdated but it felt welcoming! I would recommend to anyone looking for a good affordable brunch place !

Google
A blast to the past of what was likely an old Grandy's Restaurant. The 54 omelets touted om the sign outside was disappointing (see picture of menu). Server was nice and tried to help us. She kept my coffee filled the entire meal. The dining area smelled like a nursing home - old and off-putting. Omelette was nothing special.

Google
This place was super good , I really enjoyed it . The service was excellent and the food was done right ! Very good place for breakfast .. a real classic

Yelp
If you love omelettes, oh my!! I haven't counted the amount or variations of omelets offered! I know there are over 50 and that's not counting the. Hold it yourself! It's an older building, but don't let that stop you from stopping. Those are the best places to stop! All the items are served with home fries, hash browns, or grits! AND your choice of homemade bread, toast or biscuits and gravy. They also have pigs in a blanket orders, pancakes, and a "garbage" breakfast which is similar to a skillet meal with everything piled on!! There are also tex mex options, if you like spice with your first meal of the day!!!

Nara C.

Yelp
This restaurant has great omelets. There is a variety of items in the menu. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The price for the food is reasonable.

Yelp
Very homey feeling in there and the service was great! The pancakes are huge and probably the best I've ever had. And to top it all off, this place is very affordable. Definitely going back!

Yelp
Sat there for 20 minutes with no greeting from any waitress much less a I'll be with you in a moment. Another couple was sat and their drinks taken immediately. At that point we got up because we were ignored. A waitress said there were only two of them. They should not have been seating people if they couldn't handle or keep up with who was being sat at the restaurant. Make a wait list. Let folks know as they come to the restaurant. It's a Sunday morning and that is bad for business. Two servers on a Sunday morning, doesn't seem like it was even smart to open.

Yelp
One of our favorite breakfast spots for over a decade now. Food is good, helpings are generous, the people who make it happen are so friendly and helpful. Our to-go orders are always correct and well packaged and when we dine in we always leave with smiles.

Yelp
I love this place . Very old building on inside. But lots of seniors love this place. Seems to be a early morning meeting place. Owner is very nice . Food made to order so always fresh . I love the bacon and egg on toast . It comes potatoes any way you like . So give them a try.

Yelp
Today our group went to Rise and Shine on Pioneer for breakfast. There was only one other table seated when we got there. There was 12 of us and a steady stream of people coming in behind us. They only had one waitress, Mickey, the entire time we were there. She was wonderful! She kept her cool and gave us excellent service. She spilled orange juice down the front of herself and didn't miss a beat! She got everything right and didn't keep us waiting for anything. I had biscuits and gravy and got a plain waffle to go. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, but none of that would have mattered had Mickey not been so good to us!!

Yelp
1,000,000 out of 10. They have the best chicken fried chicken in DfW. If you go, you gotta try the biscuits and gravy as well.

Yelp
Waitress- 5 stars. She was polite, courteous, and attentive. My food- Waffle & Omelette- Omelette was delicious. Waffle was a little more dense than I would have liked. Overall my food tasted good. Sons food- Pancake and Omelette. Pancakes were delicious. Omelette was great. He really enjoyed his food. Portion sizes were very generous. I would recommend.

Yelp
Update: Well, let me tell you, I gave them another try and I'm happy I did! I had the biscuit and gravy w/sausage, ham, and cheese. I will omit the ham next time, but for me, it was too much. I enjoyed it VERY much and actually had the rest later that day for dinner. Also, it looked clean this time around. I will change my stars, but my previous review only deserved 2.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch. Definitely not fancy, but very good service and food. Had the ground sirloin steak and it was excellent and fairly priced.. This is primarily a breakfast restaurant but they also serve lunch. Recommend!

Yelp
OK food in an older part of town and what appears to be a building that's been around a long time. Waitresses chattering to each other in the dining area and it seems it's lots of regulars with lots of catching up conversations. Maybe too Hometown for me and the food was just OK.

Asa N.

Yelp
This small diner is everything ! The food , the service , the ambiance was great! YOU MUST BUY A SHORT STACK! Those pancakes were a 10/10 and the spinach, bacon, and onion omelette will definitely have me begging to visit again.

Yelp
First time here and the waitress, Crystal was just as sweet and kind as she could be. Had corned beef hash, hash brown potatoes, with 2 eggs, and it came with a bread (I had), biscuit and gravy. Ordered my eggs over easy and they were! Yay! All was very good! Restaurant is clean too! Will have to come back to try lunch items.

Yelp
After reading the reviews we decided to try this spot out. It's very cute and homey. It's open seating. Our wait waitress was really nice and efficient.. Now to the nitty gritty, the food. LARGE portions. The eggs are cooked to order which was nice. I had to add a little salt and pepper because it was a little bland. I had eggs and home fries. The biscuits are homemade and AMAZING. Overall, I would visit this spot again. If you are looking for somewhere quick, friends and tasty. Come on in. My kid had a chili burger. He had zero complaints and cleared his plate.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast. Even when busy, the food always arrives quickly. You get more than what you pay for, it's just an overall nice breakfast or lunch restaurant.

Felix O.

Yelp
We took my mother for a pre breakfast , seven of us total. Our server was Crystal and she was great and helpful. The food was great and so was the service, we all enjoyed everything. Very friendly and family friendly environment. Thank you for the great service and food!

Yelp
Chicken fried steak and French toast. The food was good and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Service was quick and fresh. I will return.

Yelp
This place left a really bad first impression on me. I and my party I arrived around 11:40 am and this place was full but we still managed to get a table. Looking around it seemed everyone had food and the servers were getting drinks and plates all around. Now I never been here before and heard they were known for their omelets, I decided to go with the country fried chicken because I can't seem to order anything else. Our waitress was nice and had a pep in her step. She got our drinks out real quick and after maybe 10 minutes of looking at the menu, she took our order. After that, she left and checked on us periodically but after 20 minutes we noticed our food had not been delivered yet. I think it at this point I started looking around and a lot of the tables had cleared out because they finished their meals. You would figure the kitchen would be on top of their game since I went on a Sunday after church service. If the waitress would have mentioned there was a longer wait than usual I would not have been as upset but I went there for my first meal of the day. As we sat there i noticed at least 3 tables get up and leave because the wait for food was reaching well over an hour. It took my party of 2 an hour and 15 minutes for our food to reach us. I am not kidding yall, and then the waitress got our order mixed up with the table next to us! Honestly, the bad/slow service from the kitchen ruined the whole experience and did not get to enjoy the food. I would not go back if that is how they run the kitchen. I am sure they seen better days but not this day.

Yelp
It's not the best breakfast kinda bland over cooked and the chicken fried steak is not real

Yelp
A very home-like relaxed place to eat breakfast. The staff is very sweet. I had the omelet with ham, cheddar cheese, and onions, which came with hash browns and biscuits with gravy. The portions were pretty big and they gave you a lot of food for a reasonable price. We also got the pig in the blankets which was basically a sausage wrapped with a pancake. My bf and I couldn't even finish our food and we eat a lot!! Place overall was good for breakfast, nothing great but suitable for comfort food

Yelp
Rise and Shine gets super busy on weekends so either get here early or expect to wait a little bit. Besides the wait the food is pretty damn good. The French toast was freaking awesome! There are about 1,000 different ways you can order omelets here and I think it would take you a lifetime to actually have every single version that they offer. The grits were very good and smooth not to gritty. You also can't go wrong with the raisin toast and chocolate milk they both taste super good. I really think that if you just close your eyes and randomly pick something off the menu (excluding the liver and onions yuck) you will have a great meal. The service was a slow at first but once you place your order your food comes out pretty quick. What was also good was that our drinks were never empty and the waitresses were always quick to help. I'm looking forward to going back here but at the same time I know in the future to come early so that the service comes quicker.

Yelp
My daughter and I wanted to go out for brunch but didn't want to battle the Sunday morning crowds at the trendy brunch places. SO I loaded up Yelp and found this place less than two miles from my house. When we walked in, we stood in the entry about a minute before one of the waitresses invited us to sit anywhere. The place has a huge parking lot that wasn't very full, so we had lots of tables to choose from. (There are two big churches not far away that hadn't let out services yet, so busIness didn't pick up until later.) The decor is nothing to speak of. THe first word that came to mind was "tired". It reminded me of the House of Pancakes that I frequented back in the 80s, and I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't been updated much since then. It has been well-maintained, but could definitely use a spruce up. That was about it for the negatives though. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. She quickly brought menus aNd took drink orders. The coffee wasn't as good as a First Watch, but was still good, and the waiter kept my cup and my daughter's lemonade filled. My daughter ordered the Waffle Sandwich, which turned out to not be a sandwich at all... a large Belgian waffle with butter, an egg prepared as she chose (over hard), a sausage patty, syrup. We presume that the concept was for the customer to assemble it herself, but my daughter was pleased that it was unassembled. It was exactly the amount of food she wanted, and she said everything was perfect. I ordered the Biscuit Debris with a side of home fries. I love biscuits and gravy, and I have had some good (Good Day Cafe) and bad (Bay 34th Street Diner, with biscuits like a hockey puck!). Biscuit Debris is in a whole different category! Start with a fluffy biscuit split in two, then top it with gravy mixed with sausage and little bits of ham, and then top it with some shredded cheddar cheese that starts to melt by the time it hits the table. The huge plate was filled with a huge side of home fries. It was really yummy! I finished the Debris, but couldn't finish the home fries. The menu has lots of options (55 different omelets!), and the prices are really reasonable. It was relaxing and quiet enough (no loud blaring music) that we could sit and talk! My daughter and I agreed that we will return.

Yelp
love this place! everything I have tried is good! the food and the vibe remind me of my grandma! feels like home

Yelp
I had the chicken fried chicken breakfast. Yummy, filling homestyle cooking. I really loved the biscuit, it tasted homemade and was absolutely delicious!

Yelp
My favorite meal here is the California trash and the biscuits are amazing. Definitely give it a try. It's worth it. Even as Carry out

Yelp
Ok, if you want a quiet diner experience this place works. It's pretty big but super quiet inside. I don't have a lot of great things to say about it. Our server was really nice (Michelle, I believe) but everything else just meh. I'm giving them a 3 bc I had great service if it wasn't for the service I'd give them less because of food. The home fries were delicious but my omelette was the problem. I definitely expected a good omelette from a restaurant that boasts it has 53+ choices BUT who uses canned asparagus in an omelette?!?!?! Maybe it's my own fault, who knows. I have never had an omelette with canned asparagus.. it was mushy and although I did eat (because I was super hungry) it I won't be back. It also had canned mushrooms but at least those are more tolerable than asparagus.

Yelp
Environment- if you like hole in the wall restaurants this is for you. If you like fancy up scale...keep driving around. I like restaurants like this. It's important to support your local restaurants. It may not be the best looking interior on the inside, but it reminds me of visiting an old southern grandmothers house. It probably needs a little dusting, but you know it's safe and comforting to be there. Food- my food was amazing. A good test for a restaurant is their fried chicken. I ordered their chicken fried chicken. The chicken was tender and cooked well, but batter and flour for the chicken fried chicken was AMAZING! It's a total must try. Their hash browns and eggs were fair. My friend liked his order of California Garbage, although he said it needed more seasoning or it needed an extra kick to it. I will come back and see how the other breakfast items are. Service- the waitress we got was very nice, funny and polite. She gave good advice about the items on the menu, the specials, and was attentive to our needs. Bonus: They make their own yummy biscuits.

Steve T.

Yelp
Parking and the entry is not ADA at all, front door is way - way hard to open. Waitresses are good, food is very cold and poor. Restrooms are atrocious and not ADA, This place is old and very unclean, bacon, sausage, ham, potatoes, and most all food is pre cooked. Looking into the kitchen was a shocker the floor was way past filthy and everything was greasy and dirty. Had a bleach smell when I asked the waitress she said it was bug spray. Now lets talk about high priced for the amount and quality of food, look at the meal ticket it is not priced out, just a total and they also add a 10% tip, never noticed until we left we also left a courtesy tip on the table. Over all this place should be closed by the health dept. And ADA should be made a requirement to be at code. The ADA is a federal law

Yelp
I had heard great things about this restaurant & it is always packed, which to me is usually a good indicator of good food. The restaurant has seen far better days and is in DIRE need of a make over. I almost left. Not the worst I have seen, but not good. It was not a busy time of day, yet getting someone to wait on me took a bit and she acted like she could care less. The food also took a while and was less than stellar. I am no chef, actually prefer not to cook, but I know my food would have been better. Basic eggs, bacon & hashbrowns. Like airplane food. Meh. The place is packed every day and I am not sure why to this day.

Yelp
Best breakfast in town, especially the biscuits & gravy(they run out sometimes)! 6:00 am - 1:30

Yelp
Stopped in after July 4th parade. Was told to seat ourselves (not a problem) but waited 5 minutes before getting anyone's Attention, was told our waitress would be right with us. After another 5 minutes I went and got our own menus but someone (not our waitress?) did get our drink order. Now here is where it gets really bad. After another 5 minutes we were still waiting to order food And were told again, our waitress would be right with us. Meanwhile, waited ANOTHER 5 minutes so I asked another waitresses if someone else could take our order. She didn't say a word but proceeded to walk over to our mystery waitress we haven't seen yet and complained about US. I overheard our waitress say "I'll get to them as soon as I can". That's not acceptable. They had several other waitresses, none of whom tried to take our order and just seemed bothered that we kept asking, to order food, after 20 minutes, so we got up and left, went across the street to Pantego cafe. I have visited rise and shine for 10 years, and I don't have high expectations from a greasy spoon, but I do expect to order and receive food, never again.

Yelp
This place blew my mind!! Now, it looks like the type of place that didn't serve colored folk back in the day- the vibe is steeped in the place. HOWEVER, everyone was REALLY nice and welcoming. The pancakes ARE TO DIE FOR!!! I got the biscuit debris. It was good, but I would forgo the gravy. I have no complaints about this spot and plan to visit again soon.

Yelp
Found this hole in the wall joint before we started our last day of Xmas shopping. I got the California Garbage Breakfast plate and my GF got the Ham & Cheese Croissant. My breakfast came with the Biscuit & Gravy and I must say... the Biscuit here is so heavenly! So fluffy! I had my girlfriend take a bite and she done killed half of it. She should get her own next time... jk. The staff is friendly and the people here are really kind. Nothing but good morning positive vibes.. I can see us coming back here on another Sunday.

Yelp
This place is dated something awful could use a facelift other than that the Pancakes and Biscuit were great hash browns needed new oil price was right overall good experience in this Local breakfast spot service was good great place for a filling brunch

Yelp
My 13yo DTR prespecrive: When you first walk into the restaurant the atmosphere is very dingy old dirty and broken down. It looks like it was stuck in the 80's. The potatoes and biscuits needed a little salt, but the omelets were good. Our waitress was good but not very happy and she didn't know alot about the menu. One of the waiters went outside to smoke then came back in and didn't even wash her hands and was coughing all over the place. I would never come back. Mine: basic atmosphere, nothing trendy for sure. Needs an update. Coffee= meh. Omletes are legit and very yummy. Made my own and was really good. My 2 boys were in hog heaven with undercooked potatoes and hasbrowns and not so flaky biscuits. I would not come back as I think I can get just as good of an omlete with better atmosphere and food.
google avatar

Yelp
Came in with my daughter this morning and this place is such a hidden gem the food is good! Bacon is thick and crispy but what really makes the place was our server Mechelle! Not only was she attentive but also extremely friendly and kind to my daughter! It was obvious that the other customers were regulars of hers and I can see why! I'll def be back to see her again!
google avatar

Kerry B.

Yelp
Uh, stop. Hold up. Wait. FIFTY-THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF OMELETS? AND YOU CAN ADD WHATEVER THE HELL ELSE YOU WANT TO THEM!? Sign me up. I'm done. I'm sold. Let me move in already. After I got past staring at the omelet side of the menu I begin scanning my way through the other half. Lots of selection but in the end I was reeled back in by the omelets. A spinach, onion and jalapeño one to be exact. It also came with my choice of two sides--so naturally I went with the HOME MADE biscuit and gravy and hash browns (which were a little bland--but when you're hungry that shit doesn't really matter). I think next time I go I'd like to try their home made(!!) bread. I was really impressed with this place considering it was a hasty decision I made when searching "breakfast" on the Yelp phone app. Our waitress was really cheerful and made it a really pleasant experience. I wish this place wasn't tucked down Pioneer Parkway but instead on Cooper. I feel like a lot of college kids would come here over IHOP. I'd pay $6 for an omelet there over a $9 one at IHOP any day of the week. Especially with that delicious biscuit by my side.
google avatar

Taryn C.

Yelp
Hole in a wall dive in a shady part of town. Food? Slammin! Being a tourist and wanting an authentic breakfast not named IHOP or Waffle House or Dennys, my husband and I ate here. We both ordered the California Garbage Plate - trust me, a lot better than it sounds! It's a mish mosh of hash browns with sausage crumbles with eggs cooked-to-order on top (I got over easy, hubby got scrambled). All egg dishes come with a side of toast or biscuits and gravy. Ok. Why would anyone ever get toast? (maybe if they were a vegetarian, with the gravy and all). I am forever ruined on biscuits and gravy. basically the only place we can get them even close to true down home southern cooking is at Cracker Barrel, which I thought were good...but seriously pale in comparison to this place. Extra light and fluffy that fall apart as soon as you take a fork to them...the gravy was just right...OMG! The bonus part was we were completely satisfied for less than $20. This was even with a side order of bacon that hubby got. The wait staff/management are very concerned with service. Very proactive in finding out how we were and what we liked, etc. They were amazed that a) we follow our baseball team around (who were in town playing the Texas Rangers then) and b) that we found them on Yelp! I can attest, this place does live up the hype. Like I said, if you can get over the area it's in (it's very desolate), I liked it very much.

Yelp
Rise and Shine is one of those diners that just looks like it's been around forever and ever. That means a lot of good things; that there are regular customers and consistency with the menu, that people actually do love and support this business, that they're obviously doing something right! But it also means that overall, the atmosphere is pretty darn dingy, and I can't help but feel like Rise and Shine isn't the cleanest place (although waitresses kept walking around sweeping things up during my visit). This diner doesn't have a website or even a facebook page, but hey, it's okay. I'm here to tell you that their menu is extremely expansive. They say that omelets are their specialty, and they have about ten billion options plus "make your own." It was interesting to see cottage cheese and cream cheese in so many of these omelets, and I had to try it! For $6.99 I ordered a cream cheese, avocado, and onion omelet. It came with a side of hash browns or home-fried potatoes (I chose the latter), and a biscuit or toast (I chose neither). You cannot do substitutions, so I forked out another $2.50ish for a side of bacon. The food came out extremely quickly. It was pretty clear that the potatoes and bacon were already made and had been sitting out for a bit, but I understand because I'm sure they go through a ton everyday. The home-fried potatoes were really good; not too greasy, just enough salt, and were awesome with a dash of tabasco. The bacon wasn't anything special and it was a little too done/crispy, but I ate it all because it's bacon! Now my omelet was interesting... It's 3 eggs, so it's a good size, and it was definitely fluffy, hot, and fresh. The avocado was actually guacamole that was turning a bit brown (but it still tasted fine), and WHOA was there a ton of cream cheese in this thing. I mean, I love cream cheese and I think it's great to have in your omelet.... but I felt like I had half a block on my plate. Very rich... I could only eat about 1/2. Overall, I enjoyed my breakfast and I'd come here again to browse the menu, choose a different omelet (with cheddar), eat those fantastic home-fried potatoes, and pay a really decent price for a plate overflowing with food!

Yelp
Me and my family of 8 came here for breakfast while on vacation. The service was super fast and the food was delicious !! The biscuits and gravy was soo tasty. The waffles were perfect. The prices are cheap and affordable. I would definitely recommend this place because it is suitable for all ages.

Yelp
When I first pulled up I had some apprehension eating here. The outside of the building is a tad bit dilapidated. But I decided that of It had such a high Yelp rating the outside of the building wouldn't matter... and It did not. The food was great and the service was just as good. I got short stack of pancakes, hash brows, cheeses grits, and a biscuit. The server looked at me like I was crazy but I like to have a little bit of each thing. It was a good find for a quick work trip to Dallas
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
What a great find so early in the morning in Arlington. I had a meeting in Arlington and of course I was early with some time to kill and I was starving. I did a yelp search and found Rise n Shine. The place looked rustic but down home. The service was nice and oh so friendly but the food took the center stage. Biscuits and gravy Devine with some over easy eggs, sausage, French toast, I was in hog heaven pardon the pun. So if you ever in the area and you have those hunger pains stop in and try it out it will not hurt your wallet either Kevin
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Went downhill in my opinion. I wouldn't waste your time or money. The service and food were both terrible.
google avatar

Anye S.

Yelp
My actual review is about a 3.5 but I'm feeling generous in hindsight. The decor is a time warp - it felt like the ubiquitous "coffee shop" my mom used to take us to when we were kids in the late 70's. Luckily the prices are also lower than average. I had an omelette with hash browns and the homemade raisin bread, my honey had french toast which I sampled. The omelette was good. The hash browns actually needed a little salt or grease or something to give them flavor -- they were the opposite of what you normally get at a diner. I am torn about the homemade bread. It had a nice heavy texture, you could tell it was homemade - but I don't know that I'd say it was fabulous. The homemade white bread made for interesting french toast though. It was very different than normal - not particularly eggy, nice and crisp on the outside but soft on the inside - and a different flavor than normal, but I enjoyed it. I don't think it would hit the spot when I was particularly craving comfort-food french toast, but if I think of it as a dish of its own it is enjoyable. The service was attentive and friendly and as I said, it's quite inexpensive. So, we will likely go back.
google avatar

Patricia T.

Yelp
Great classic breakfast diner. Good value for money, I've never had a bad meal there, and the waitstaff is stellar. Although I'm normally a "wheat bread only" kind of gal, give their homemade white bread a try for your toast, it's fantastic.
google avatar

Jared S.

Yelp
I don't give 5 stars often, but this one is well deserved. Servers are extremely friendly and attentive, and the food has always been super delicious! The portions are huge, so you better come hungry. The biscuits and breads are all homemade, which you can definitely taste. Massive menu, but I tend to stick to their breakfast menu. TRY THE BISCUIT DEBRIS!
google avatar

Bre B.

Yelp
I would give this place of four out of five due to the actual interior of the restaurant. It does not look very appetizing, it is actually old looking but the food and the staff are definitely worth looking past that for! The food was hot, fast, and delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming from when we walked in until we left. I'm not sure if we went on a slow day or not but we were the only table in the restaurant. Literally the only table! It discouraged me at first but I still stuck around to find out what was in store. I am glad that we did we found a good place to grab a quick bite to eat for cheap.

Yelp
Frendly staff, but the food was not good.. I ordered a California breakfast and my guest order the special. They were very bland and the sausage did not taste good. I won't be coming back to eat here. It looked like this was once and old Chinese food place and the food resembles that. Its not a very clean place with an empty tank of water where there was once fish.
