Why Alabama’s Conecuh Sausage Has a Cult Following | Eater

"A Mobile-Bay–area breakfast and brunch spot praised for hearty Southern dishes that showcase the local smoked sausage: the signature bowl piles scrambled eggs and cheese over biscuits and gravy with sausage, while an egg-and-sausage Benedict pairs poached eggs and hollandaise on a biscuit." - Sarra Sedghi

Had breakfast here yesterday and it was brilliant! The atmosphere was great — really friendly and relaxed. Had some good banter with the owner and even ended up teaching him a bit more British slang (apologies in advance, lol!). I had the Chicano — scrambled eggs with chorizo, potatoes and mixed cheeses — and it was amazing. Loads of flavour, a brilliant portion size, and I loved the different levels of hot sauce on the side depending on your level of fire. A cracking start to the day, would definitely recommend!

Google
Excellent! Don’t let the prices daunt to you. This is a lot of food for the money. My husband ordered the Bama Bowl and I ordered the Triceratops Burrito. The Bama bowl was a tiny bit spicy due to the sausage. But it was excellent and my burrito was way too much for one person to eat. It was delish!

We stopped by to grab some breakfast and it added a big positive to our morning. My 11 year-old loved the stickers everywhere and the free video game. My wife appreciated how nice and personable the woman was who took our order. The food is just very good on top of everything else. We really liked these people, the food, atmosphere, and I definitely recommend you stop by and treat yourself to a well deserved breakfast!

Google
First time visiting this place for breakfast and I can say I will definitely be back very soon the owners were amazing, funny and so welcoming. Highly recommend, you have to try it out, oh and the hot sauce is 🥵

Google
Best tacos in town. Real tortillas, fresh ingredients, unique menu that includes traditional tacos as well. I don’t leave a review if I don’t absolutely love the food. This is fantastic food.

Google
We visited Rise for breakfast - wanted to try a local place instead of the usual chains. We were not disappointed! Definitely a little outside of the box - from the greeting we received to the explanation of the food and service to the decor. But the food? Outstanding. We both had bowls (basic bowl with added smoked Gouda grits and a Triceratops) and couldn't eat half of the serving and it was delicious! Go hungry and be ready for some fun! Will definitely be back!!

Google
If you Love good food and great service this place is Phenomenal! Not only is the food fantastic the atmosphere is fun, energetic and a little eccentric! I would legit drive an hour or more out of my way to eat here! The portions are great too. The owners are awesome and love to serve the community. The first thing they told me on my first dining experience was "now you're family" and they gave me a sticker to put anywhere I wanted. Lots of fun!

Google
Wow! I’m actually really bummed that I haven’t tried Rise sooner! You walk in, you are greeted by a friendly fella and a whole bunch of stickers. Super cool concept! Love all the Funkos and nostalgia. Immediately sets the tone for a good time. I ordered the Godzilla burrito. The lady had the TRex. Both were insanely large and tasty! I asked for some salsa and was handed some red. Then asked for the good stuff and he handed me some green sauce. Then I asked for the hot stuff. Dude looked at me sideways and then reached into a magic bag and pulled out some yummy stuff made with scotch bonnets. I enjoyed each of them, beware of that xxx hot sauce if you are a sissy tho! Yall need to go eat food here. It’s really good.

Yelp
Always a solid place for great food. My brother and I both ordered the Aztec Warrior, which are verde chilaquiles with perfectly cooked Eggs on top. Everything went really well Together. My wife always gets their version of eggs Benedict, and they always nail it. Well cooked eggs, great hollandaise sauce. Very eclectic atmosphere, built more like they want you to get it to go. (There is no restroom, so be aware of that. Also, you can't get salt and pepper...) Food came out fast and hot. Several people took care of us and checked on us to make sure we enjoyed everything.

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! My wife and I are here visiting my aunt. Decided to pop into Rise for breakfast before a day of activities. As a Californian I take my chorizo breakfast burritos VERY seriously.....after learning the owner/operator was from Cali I wasn't surprised at how amazing the burrito was. It was simply incredible and cooked to perfection. The inside is an absolute vibe with random stickers and knick knacks everywhere snd great tunes coming from the kitchen. We will for sure be back.

Yelp
Great guy and food. My son had food allergies owners spent good 10 minutes stuck on my son before creating a custom dish for him

Yelp
A small place with big flavor. They have some seating but pack to go. Not full service but great service for sure. The food was fantastic and I will be back to try more options. The bowl I had left me leaving full. Not a lot of parking but enough for an in and out order.

Lisa H.

Yelp
The best tex mex breakfast I have had in the south. The sweetest couple running this place and the vibes were awesome. Food truck style but inside with ac. Everything we ordered was seasoned and delicious. We will most definitely be back.

Elliott Y.

Yelp
Incredible breakfast with awesome upbeat & positive staff. Everytime I go here (which is almost every Saturday) it's consistently good. Such a great place for a very tasty & filling breakfast!

Yelp
I've been searching for a most excellent breakfast burrito, and my search has finally ended! I've seen this place a hundred times, as Hwy 31 is one of my favorite routes to travel. So imagine my surprise when I pulled in to get something to eat, and I find a cool little place decorated with action figures and other nerdy things! It simply elevated my morning! The gentleman behind the counter gave me a sticker to put up somewhere on the wall, so I found a nice little place to put it amongst the thousands of cool stickers adorning the walls. I ordered the basic breakfast burrito to go, but added bacon to it. He disappeared into the kitchen and came out within a few minutes with an enormous breakfast burrito wrapped in foil, piping hot! I took the burrito to go, as I had somewhere to be, and ate it when I got to my destination. I couldn't even finish the entire thing because it was so large! The green salsa he gave me to go with it was absolutely fantastic! I feared it would be too spicy, but it was just right! The egg, potato, and seasonings inside were all fresh and cooked to perfection! This is one of those place I will absolutely return to, with a crowd of people! The more the merrier!

Yelp
This place is great! Tony was awesome, the food and the portions were fantastic! When you visit be sure to tell them it is your first time so you can get a sticker for the decor. It was a terrific place for breakfast when you go will understand the next line. Tony..oink oink :)
google avatar

Yelp
This hidden gem will surprise you. Took me a while to try it but I am glad I did. Upon first visit you will be given a sticker to place among thousands which makes up the restaurant's decor. The dishes are plentiful in serving size and taste great. Friendly staff in addition to the great food make this a must-try! Definitely check hours before visiting.

Yelp
Long Distance Review Time: Rise Breakfast Burrito & Taco (Malbis, AL Exit 38) Decided to do a pit stop for breakfast on our way home, in Spanish Fort, to check out this highly reviewed, massive portion breakfast burritos. We are 100% happily full that we did. The owner is high spirited and kept us laughing the whole time. This high energy, small restaurant packs a punch with fresh ingredients, homemade tortillas, and delicious in-house made sauces. I can't wait to come back to try some of the main entrees, which are unique and sound amazing. Today, my other half had the Godzilla burrito, which as you can is bigger than his arm. He was only able to eat half, but was by far one of the best burritos he has ever had in his life. I was unaware I only ordered one Veterano taco, but as you can see it was packed so full I order another fresh tortilla to make two tacos. Overall Review: absolutely amazing comedy show service with some of the best breakfast burritos and taco I have ever had in my life (10/10)...don't forget to tell them it's your first time so you can decorate with your sticker...also, FYI, papas is potatoes...

Yelp
This place is a gem. Not exactly what you'd expect when you walk in but whoa, the food is amazing. Staff is friendly, helpful and fast. They opened on a Sunday for brunch. I ran over to try it. The outside has parking and some cute benches. Inside? Whoa, someone has a comic book passion. This same passion is in the food. I tried the biscuits and gravy with eggs & jalapeños. It was amazing. The gravy and eggs were perfect. The biscuit (smothered in the above) held up well and still has some crunch/soft texture you expect. My only 'eh' was the coffee option. Was like the office break room coffee pot, some pod creamers and stick stirrers. All in all, hope they offer Sunday brunch a few more times, I'll head over

Skylar M.

Yelp
Go! You will not be disappointed. We got a breakfast burrito and shrimp and grits, both amazing!!
google avatar

Yelp
Food is still amazing. Hate that I always straight devour my meal before I have a chance to take a picture!

Yelp
Tony is what makes this place special. Definitely a man of few words---cough cough. Best breakfast in Baldwin. Such a unique place. Great pop culture comic stuff to enjoy seeing in the shop.

Yelp
Holy smokes yall I just left there and this was the BEST breakfast of my life! My family of 5 went and we split and tried everything we ordered. My kids all shared the T. rex bowl and loved it I had the bubba gump bowl and let me tell you all other breakfast is ruined now because nothing will ever compare to that! Shrimp definitely belongs in that breakfast! My husband had the Bama bowl and that was probably the fluffiest biscuit I've ever had in my life! Then we split the bananas foster French toast which was delicious but my least favorite thing that we tried my husband who hates French toast however said it was the best he's ever had and enjoyed it a lot! Then my kids also split the donkey Kong pancakes and let me tell you those were the fluffiest most delicious pancakes ever they didn't even need syrup I ate it as is and will dream of them! My tastebuds danced thru the entire breakfast! It's probably a good thing I don't live close or I'll be 800lbs but I will definitely make it a priority to stop anytime I come thru this area! The service was amazing the atmosphere was cute and eclectic very nerdy chic and oh ya on your first trip you get a random sticker to add to the wall which my kids thought was so stinking cool! Seriously stop here you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Breakfast on the 4th of July! Very friendly service in a food truck venue. Some tables inside with air conditioning and new customers are greeted with stickers to place on walls, ceilings, or any where. The food was excellent and well above food truck expectations!

Yelp
Amazing amazing food. It was so delicious. A little loud in the shop and no bathroom, but all in all a great experience. Would highly recommend visiting. Service was great and staff were friendly.

Yelp
Wow! This little place is packed with amazing food and character. You MUST check it out. It is worth the drive. I was visiting the area from KY. I ordered the Aztec Warrior and it was flavorful and unique. The owner greeted me personally. The service and ambiance were outstanding. A bit loud but it worked with the vibe of the place. Don't forget your1 sticker!

Andrea B.

Yelp
We moved here from the west coast about 5 years ago and left behind some outstanding breakfast burrito joints. I'm sad it took so long to find this place but it can easily stand toe to toe with the best breakfast burrito joints I've ever had!! The burrito is huge and tastes amazing!!! The staff was fun and the place is a breath of fresh funky air! We will come back as often as our little arteries will allow!
google avatar

Heidi A.

Yelp
How do you pick just one thing?!? Still the best breakfast on the go. Place your order in advance and tend to your mates with an amazing start too. Can't beat the passion and love put into every dish!
google avatar

Tad D.

Yelp
We visited for carryout recently and it was a nice breakfast but I don't get the hype. The breakfast burritos were decent but really salty tasting. The prices were even saltier. The service was prompt and the place had some fun character befitting an offbeat fun little breakfast joint. We had the veterano burrito, which had some nice flavors plus a teaspoon of salt, and the shrimp burrito, which was a bit bland but not bad. In the future I will probably split a burrito with my wife as they are rather large as well.

Rita B.

Yelp
Stopped by whole passing through for a business trip! The food is mouth watering delicious! I don't know how anyone can finish their burritos! The staff was very friendly. They even have outdoor seating! I'll be stopping by again!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
Great food and morning vibe! The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. The chef/owner came out and greeted everyone that was dining in and was super friendly. I had read an article in a local newspaper that spotlighted Rise so I made a 45 minute drive to check it out. It was worth it! Since we do not visit that area often we ordered extra to try a few things. My wife had the Triceratops Taco with black beans, I had The Adam Sandler, and we shared the shrimp and grits. Everything was delicious! The only drawback is there is not a restroom for customers, hence 4 Stars. I really like it and will visit again when I'm in the area.

Brandon G.

Yelp
If you aren't sure, just order the Burrito "his way" He's the professional, and it didn't disappoint. Hands down best breakfast burrito in the area. Thank you for the lovely experience.

Yelp
What a treat this spot was. Customer service was through the roof - the woman up front was making sure every single customer was attended to and gave us stickers to leave our mark on the walls. Too freaking cool. Super chill atmosphere with great music, collectibles and even features a retro arcade game. Food was SO BOMB. Triceratops breakfast tacos are to die for. Great local spot and totally worth driving to from across the bay!

Hams All S.

Yelp
Anything you order is going to be really good, the service is with a smile, You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Super good special they had. Cheese grits either shrimp and conecuh with a Cajun sauce and scallions on top. It was fire!!
google avatar

Jeremy J.

Yelp
The food here is spectacular! They don't make anything until you order it. I had the Bubba Gump bowl. So flavorful. My daughter had a breakfast burrito that was outstanding. They do cater to families with special needs or rambunctious kids. Comic book theme everywhere. The owners and staff are friendly and informative. Please go here!

Stacy S.

Yelp
Gosh, what a hidden secret! Was told about this place from a guy from Arrow. We had the Veterano bowl and a T-Rex taco both were outstanding. Tony and Erica are great

Yelp
Go Eastern Shore! Go NOW! So fun, SO GOOD! Fresh ingredients, everything is homemade and cooked as you wait! The hollandaise sauce is no add water packet you pick up from the Pig folks this is the real thing! My husband exclaimed "this is the best salsa verde I've ever had in my life"! This eclectic little hidden gem in Spanish Fort takes you by surprise from the moment you step out of your car! Sorry no spoilers folks... this is for you to discover! You order at the counter and there is a waiting/seating area to the left. Food options are creative and plenty! And the taste... eat and BE AMAZED!!! You will not be disappointed my LA friends!
google avatar

Angie G.

Yelp
Overpriced and mediocre at best. Almost $20 per person for tiny breakfast served in a plastic to go container! The place is dirty. It has a little room with 3 tables in extreme heat with no air condition. How do you eat a hot in the heat, and why are you charging so much when your overhead is nothing but a dirty dump. I wish I could take pictures of how filthy and sweaty this place is.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Oh my this was the best breakfast I ever had In my life! It was a fun place with lots of personality! Eggs with conesch sausage and white gravy so yummy!

Brandy J.

Yelp
Food was astounding! Place has a fun atmosphere. First timers get a sticker to place anywhere,my teen loved it. Names of the entrees we had were, Deadpool's favorite (fruity pebbles pancakes), the Adam Sandler ( Monte Cristo) and the Bubba Gump burrito. Place is like a food truck, order and pick up order packaged to go. There are tables to sit at.
google avatar

Benjamin K.

Yelp
Food was delicious, freshly made with fresh ingredients. Family of five give all 5 dishes a five. Made with love! Thank you RIse! Also love the chill vibe

Yelp
So, so good! I grew up in Spanish Fort and this place used to be a quaint little cake shop so when I drove by on a recent visit and realized it was a breakfast place I was interested. My boyfriend and I went and spent the time waiting for our food just looking around at all the stickers and things inside (very cool) (as a 30 year old, kinda nerdy man, he was literally in heaven). Then we got our food to-go. He got a bfast burrito (huge) and I got the biscuits and gravy (was to die for). We weren't hungry again until well after dinner time. Amazing, 10/10, such a good little addition to SF. Go!!

Yelp

Yelp
Delicious food! I had the Adam Sandler. Sweet and savory and messy- all the things a good monte cristo should be! My boyfriend had a breakfast burrito with chorizo. He regularly gets a chik fil a brekkie burrito and the next time he got one, he told me the chefs at Rise ruined him on breakfast burritos because nothing else compares. He ate his too fast for me to get a picture. Only one table though so be ready to get your food to go! The sticker collection and pop head collection are worth checking out, too!

Deborah B.

Yelp
First thing, the staff is very friendly and informative in a cute witty introduction. The food is cooked fresh when you order and most definitely worth waiting for. It is delicious and you get a lot of food. It is served in a container with a lid for easy transport. I had the Bubba Gump Bowl and my husband had the Bama Bowl, both were outstanding!

Eran R.

Yelp
Really good food and large portions! Great pricing for portion size and friendly staff. Fun atmosphere too!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Had lunch there for the first time today. Decided to look for an alternative to the chain restaurants at 181/31. The owners and staff were friendly and the chorizo and beef quesadilla was good and flavorful. The portion was generous. As a lagniappe, the owner even gave me a to go box of their bananas foster pancakes to try!
google avatar

Rob O.

Yelp
Eclectic menu and just kind of offbeat in general. Portions are good and although the choices are a little different, sometimes that's what you're looking for. We eat there regularly.

Morgan D.

Yelp
The food was amazing, the customer service was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing. The best family owned business! We will definitely be back!

Whitney D.

Yelp
AWESOME FOOD!!!!! They catered breakfast burritos for my workplace and KILLED IT!!!!!

Lee R.

Yelp
The food, the customer service, the atmosphere, the attitude of the employees.. I give it all 5 stars!!! This place was great. I called in my order and when I arrived I was treated like a celebrity. They made sure I had all of my food, made me apart of their "1st timer " tradition and offered me everything to make that experience great. In a time when customer service is dead this place gives you hope again! Thanks !
google avatar

Anna N.

Yelp
Funky little breakfast spot that I highly recommend! We ordered the Bama Benny- all you need to know is Conecuh sausage and AMAZING hollandaise-and could not decide on a burrito and the team recommended the Godzilla. I can now, too!!! Go check them out- and if you are like me and live in Fairhope it is worth the trek to SF!! Nom nom!! Can't wait to try their tacos and nachos.
google avatar

A.j. W.

Yelp
Love this place. The Godzilla burrito is the best breakfast burrito in town by far. Love the pop culture ambiance, love the service from the employees. The only reason I give them four stars instead of five is that it does take a while to get the food once you order it. I'm sure it's because they cook to order, but it'd be nice to be able to call an order ahead. I've tried multiple times, but there's no answer. Hopefully this means they're busy, which is good. But since it's not really a sit down restaurant (it's more of a grab and go), not being able to call in an order and having to wait 20 minutes is the only drawback. The food is fire though.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
A search of Yelp turned up this little gem. I saw 5 stars and figured it has to be good. Even though there were only 2 reviews, I still figured it was worth a try, and I was right. I like to give as through a review as I can which means I try to capture the full experience. So here goes. The place is a small, quaint little place. There are a few tables outside but when we walked in we noticed there was only one small table with two bar stools. We asked if there was more seating, but were told it was more of a take-out at this time though they did point to the outside tables as an option. It was a bit chilly outside so we opted to order and just make the best of the little table inside. They seemed surprised that we opted for that, but made it work for us and brought out another bar stool. To the food. My wife and I ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast. DELICIOUS, with pecans, syrup and powdered sugar, it was some of the best I've ever had. My inlaws had the OG Benny and they, too, were very happy with their choice. It looked delicious as well. The coffee was a bit strong , but I like it that way. I do wish they would have had half and half instead of powdered creamer. Right now, they seem to be bare bones with only to go containers used to serve the food in and plastic utensils. I am not the least put off by that, just painting a complete picture so nothing comes as a surprise. The food trumps everything because it is so good. I wish I lived closer, because this would be a regular go to place for breakfast. Bring your business here and help them to be successful. They are worth it.

Yelp
Biggest taco I've ever eaten!! Found it one morning when my boyfriend and I were in Mobile. The lady working the front was sweet, warm and helpful. We will go back when in town.
