Rising Sun Inn

"This stone-built, 18C moorland pub boasts a cosy, characterful bar and a charming restaurant with exposed stone walls, a semi-open kitchen and local artwork on the walls. The original, highly seasonal British dishes make use of fine local ingredients, and the set lunch is a steal. It’s rurally set, so book a pitch on their campsite opposite and make a night of it." - Michelin Inspector

Wow, what a find, we was looking for a staycation night away, Living in Mevagissey, we wanted great food and fantastic luxurious comfort from a room for the night and yes, we got it here. Tim really is a fantastic chef and has all the staff on board with a great ethos looking after guests. It was literally in the middle of nowhere but just off the main road very easy access, The rooms were so luxurious and my partner commented on the level of care regarding the bedding and fittings. We are both went for the steak and were overwhelmed with the taste, My partner is Brazilian and she has been looking for a great place to enjoy good food and we definitely found it here, Will definitely be returning. Would recommend to anyone wanting great food and a night away in luxury surroundings. Clint and Nelma .

We were visiting Cornwall for my birthday. Being out in the sticks, we didn’t expect to find much. We found this place on google. Took a punt. And ended up having the best meal I’ve ever had and it’s not even close. 10/10. Totally faultless. With some special attention on social media. This place could seriously explode.

We're now on our third annual visit to Launceston and a meal at the Rising Sun Inn is always a feature for us. This place goes further than just good 'pub grub' and consistently knocks out fantastic, elevated dishes. Some standouts for us have been the onion bread in the bread to share (a must order), the steak and ale pie and the scotch egg. The tomato consomme on the burrata starter is outstanding and really brings this dish together - though burrata itself was a tad deflated this time, but absolutely delicious nonetheless. Peanut parfait rounded off a stunning meal perfectly. Will continue to come back whenever we're in the area, lovely staff, atmosphere and dog friendly!

Incredible food… honestly unmissable. A great pub with a lovely local culture of a friar and Saturday night. Camping for free if you eat in the restaurant. Booking is necessary for a table in the restaurant.

Wow what a find this place is! We were on our way back home to Cornwall from Dorset and decided to sneak another night in the camper van. We found this pub online and the offer of free camping if you eat in the pub was too good to resist. The camping field is just In front of the pub, nice level pitch with great shower facilities. We booked a table for dinner and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by a lovely guy behind the bar and was looked after from the very beginning. The menu looked amazing we had the chicken arracini and deep-fried squid for starters and it was delicious. For our main we had the 18 day aged lamb with moroccan couscous and it was out of this world! We treated ourselves to 2 deserts the sweet treats were delicious but the star of the show was the Tunisian orange cake. Wow! We will definitely return again to enjoy this fab place.

Lovely pub great steak and a nice quiet campsite with hook up and all facilities. Great if your coming to Cornwall on holiday. Even discounted the campsite fee when you have a meal in the pub . 10 mins off the a30 . Well worth a stopover on your way to cornwall for a holiday . Lovely staff and great service 👍

Friendly and comfortable. Chicken wings weren't great. Cheap bruised chicken but the chef did a great job with it. Scotch egg and parfait was superb 👌👌 Barman was excellent.

Great food on what was a miserable wet day. Fantastic service and really good local beers on tap.
