Risky Business

One of, if not my favorite bar in LA. Hospitable, unique, ever evolving. This bar features great shows, great special events, great decor/ambiance, and a great selection of beer and spirits. Its patrons have built a wonderful and welcoming community. Love coming here for some absinthe and mead, and maybe an elixir or two. There's always something special behind the bar, including the bartenders. I hope the theatre in the back can open back up some day as it's been my dream to produce a show here for some time.

This is my favorite bar! They have so many cool cocktails, and the absinthe is great! Sign up for their newsletter so see all the themed events they throw every month. I go to their mardi gras celebration every year where they cook crawfish and serve beingnets and king's cake! This is a really special place where you can tell the owner and workers put a lot of passion into this place. I love that it's not too loud here and there's 2 free pool tables.

My favorite bar in LA. A comfortable place for a singleton to stop in for a beverage on her way home after work. Friendly bartenders. Fair price for excellent drinks - tip inclusive. I also enjoy meeting friends here — there many cozy corners, or we head to the dance floor, or the pool table area. The eclectic decor if fun too. This little bar has a lot to offer and parking is easy.

I couldn't edit my review but bumping this place up. Beer is phenomenal and the vibe is very relaxing. Everyone from the bartenders to the patrons are friendly they really envoked a great community. I appreciate Ari going out of his way to correct my issue. This is the place to come unwind with a nice game of free pool or find a rare beer or strong cocktail. If you come here looking for a drink make sure to ask the incredibly knowledgeable bartenders or if you are lucky ask Ari what rare beers he scored on tap or in bottle.

Love this spot! Everyone is super friendly, the vibes are chill and the ambiance is cool. Come for the absinthe, stay for the fun!

Found this place by random and I think it's a gem! It gives me speakeasy and occult-y vibes and I love it! A pretty good selection of liquor to choose from and fair in price.

Went to this bar earlier, it's such a hidden prize. It has the best speakeasy/ underground vibe. The bartender was super chill and knowledgeable, I don't remember her name but she made one of the best French 75 I've had. A few people here ordered 4 right after I got mine. Side note it's one of the cleanest bars I've been to including the bathrooms! Will come back for the great variety of beers, good drinks, and great service.

Recently attended a private event here and it's filled with great vibes! This is a great pre-game spot as well. The service and bartenders are friendly and recommended some nice kraft cocktails from their menu. I can't wait to return. Definitely check them out.

Fun times! This place is very cool. Although they only had 1 bartender on a busy Saturday night, it was a really great spot. Lots of interesting decor that makes the bar have a very old-timey feel. The attention to detail to the decor is what gets me really excited about this place. Plus my date got mead out of a glass horn and they make absinth the old fashion way with a whole system set up to drip onto a sugar cube. Overall they were a great spot for a friends birthday + friend group! Make sure to go through the photo booth and checkout the little hidden area in there.

This bar is amazing, especially the scene and the people who work here. Especially the bar tenders! Andrew is so knowledgeable with drinks and mixology. Alex, the coolest person you will ever meet. And Jen is the most kind-hearted person you will meet. I enjoy drinking here, and it's quite fun. I would always recommend this bar to anyone who wants something interesting and yet different.

I visited Risky Business in North Hollywood yesterday, and it was an incredible experience! The ambiance was perfect. The staff was friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. The drinks were top-notch, with a great selection of cocktails that were both creative and delicious. The overall vibe of the place was just right for an evening out. I highly recommend Risky Business Bar to anyone looking for a great time in NH. I'll definitely be coming back!

Went here on a Saturday night. Bar was relatively full because of a birthday party. There was only 1 bartender so service was pretty slow. No biggie. It happens. After waiting 20 minutes to order my final drink and close out I was met with a 23% AUTOMATIC GRATUITY!? I've heard of automatic gratuity on parties of 6 or more or whatever but on a single persons tab is absolute robbery. Won't be returning to this joke of a bar. Oh and also there was no toilet paper in the bathroom so I walked around the bar with a poopy butthole for half the night.

This place is a vibe! Perfect venue to host an event, the drinks were great & the decor is too cool! We will definitely be coming back soon.

Unfortunately this place was not welcoming. Bartender was rude and ignored us. Too bad it seemed cool. Theres better bars with better and friendlier service. Don't know if they're judgemental or what. Do better.

I personally loved this place. Perfect if you want a good dive bar to meet at with reasonably priced drinks that doesn't feel too sketchy. It wasn't crowded at all when we went which was exactly what we wanted at the time. They even gave us a bunch of free Chinese food when we were there for some reason.

What an amazing place! There are arrows outside pointing to a little side door, and inside is, you have to see it to believe it. Chill with crazy beer and absinthe. Coming back with friends for sure!

So, this place is swanky and the vibe as far as ambiance is cute. I had a real problem w/ the drinks. The drinks are not cheap, as expected but they pour half of a normal drink. My first drink was Sauv Blanc on happy hour. The glass is this short style wine glass that was half filled. My husband got the Prosecco. They poured it in the old school cocktail glass. They took the mini bottle, that's usually one serving and poured HALF of it into the cocktail glass for $16?! HALF of a small bottle that's supposed to be one serving. They then put this opened half short mini bottle back in the fridge to use for the next victim. He ordered 2 upfront and received a total of 1 mini ($5.99 bottle in the store) and a tiny bit of a second bottle. Once we ordered another, I asked Jen, wth. We figured it was just the bar manager chick as she had somewhat of an attitude at first but Jen said that's "their serving size" Wuuuuudd???? We ended up buying a bottle of cheap bubbly for $40 but if we had known that, we would have done that from the beginning. Later in the night, as things got looser, I noticed that someone else ordered prosecco but they got a real Champaign glass that was half full so it was more obvious. That person was like naw, fill it up, and the bar manager chick did. Good for that person. Anyways... We end up having a decent time because of the crowd, but would never hang there on a regular day considering the whole "serving size". No way.

I found out that The Other Door is turning into Risky Business and only allowing fully vaccinated people into their establishment. After finding this out and some details I thought I would bring a friend to help support. This was the very first time we've both visited and we had a great time. I enjoyed the fact of fully vaccinated people allowed into one place. The registration process is a bit confusing as I did purchase my membership card online and didn't know what else I needed to do. I did send out an email asking for more information and was returned with some helpful responses. Upon arrival we signed a waiver that declares we are fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination card and photo ID. I loved the spot as it is cute and intimate and was pretty surprised that it was jam packed! We met our bartender dizzy as he helped serve us all the concoctions we were interested in their cocktail list. PARKING: small private lot, street parking VERDICT: Rinse and repeat

Something happened to this place. Used to be pretty cool. But now, not only do they NOT take cash, but they add a 23 % tip to every bill no matter if it's just one drink. And then, when you realize your friend gave the unfriendly bartender a cash tip by accident (since they don't verbally tell you about mandatory tip), you can't adjust your bill to remove the tip. I tried by scratching it out and signing tht amount of the sub total with tax. But nope, they still ran it. I really don't think that's legal without being in a large party and without being told in advance. Also, bartender Alexander is unfriendly and acts like he's there doing you a favor. His bedside manner is crap. And I'm sure that's because he knows he does not have to work for his mandatory tip! They have to change this dumb policy before we'd go back. Such a shame, it used to be a friendly place. Now it's just lame, i guess. And i just looked it up and it's completely illegal to charge mandatory gratuity without making it known PRIOR to ordering! It's always frustrating when venues think they're above the law.

If you're looking for the perfect neighborhood bar look no further. They have incredible drinks, wonderful staff, and the vibe is 10/10. One time I went in and they had Samurai Jack playing on the tvs in B&W and they immediately had my loyalty. Go for a night out and play pool or check out their Burlesque shows!

Great vibe, awesome bartender, had a really fun night here. We stopped in during Halloween weekend looking for somewhere fun to go, rolled up to this bar, and were glad we did. The bartender had some great recommendations for all of us, and she made the best old fashioned I've ever had. I hope she had as much fun talking to us as we did talking with her hahaha. They also had a photo booth set up in the back and some great music!

I love this bar ! Love to come here with friends and play pool grab a drink and just hang out ! They have burlesque shows monthly they are so fun to watch I recommend this place definitely!

Definitely my favorite bar. Bar tenders are experienced, the place is clean, and just dive bar-y enough to be a regular place to just chill and talk with interesting people. They've added free pool which is a huge plus. Drinks can be pricy, but they're very good. But they have great whiskey, beer, and mixed drinks. Gotta get the horn of mead at least once. They have plenty of seating inside, outdoor seating, and a "secret" seating beyond the photo booth. I would say also sign up for the newsletter they owners send out. Usually I unsubscribe from that stuff the second I see them sending things, but they're just having a good time.

Been here several times recently. I have enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly service there. Trying new craft beers and cocktails every time I stop by. Great place to chill and relax.

Super chill spot. Great drinks. Micheladas were surprisingly good...they make their own mix. Bartender was really nice, she even made us free drinks to taste new recipe. Pool table available so easy to let time pass by. Definitely will be back. P

It's very okay. I love the free pool, but it has a definite dive feel - and I'm not sure that's what it's going for? Maybe it is? I dunno. Quirky, fun, and a good joint if you're local. But probably not something I'd travel to.

Found a new spot to hang, play pool, & try new drinks. Super welcoming atmosphere, the bartenders made us feel at home and made us samples of drinks on the house to explore their new menu. Will be my new local bar :)

This place is awesome, drinks are stiff but fancy quality I wish they put cherries in their old fashioneds though!, the pool tables are super fun to play on, and they do the black light lighting at some point in the night which is a whole vibe haha and the bartenders are really patient and cool great service. I'd highly recommend to anyone wanting a chill pool playing time with cool voodoo type aesthetic.

Dive bar aesthetic with awesome bartenders, great customers and fantastic drinks. The drinks aren't cheap, but they also have tips included so you don't have to do "drunk math" at the end of the night.

Service was A+++. Ambiance was fantastic, especially loved the hanging baboon from the ceiling.

I normally don't write reviews but it was odd that they added an automatic 23% auto grat to my bill. There was no sign anywhere just saw it when I closed my tab. I Tip really well since I'm the the service industry myself. Vibe was cool just beware of this, a tip is for the service provided not automatic.

Too bad this awesome little bar is run by people who don't give a damn about their customers or their business. I have tried on 2 separate occasions to book large parties here but the communication is terrible! After calling and emailing and being led to believe (the second time) I had found a venue to throw my bash, I was notified by email 2 days before that they had booked another party! I found out later the the party they turned me away for was a very small. Not very business savvy these people. Anyway, they've lost my business. I'm sure I'll find another place where snotty bartenders can sell me $20 shot glasses of "Absinthe"

I've been coming here for awhile now. My favorite bar in Burbank/LA area! The Wednesday night burlesque shows are amazing when they do them. The bar tenders are super chill and very personable. The absinthe is amazing, if you like black licorice please try the absinthe. This is honestly NoHo's best kept secret. The best place to go and hang with friends--free pool, and it's never super crowded. 10/10 if I could give more than 5 stars I would! In the best way possible, this place is a combination of the CIA and Clifton's republic. If you like bars check this one out

Went with a couple of friends and a blond bartender was being super rude and passive aggressive towards one of my friend. very disrespectful.

Rolled into this place last night on a whim. I was originally headed to Johnny's in Highland Park and/or the Blue Room in Burbank. One of the bartenders at R Place in Pasadena also works here. ( Megan McCarthy your recommendation/ invitation was right on point !) The place is located in a mixed use area, so you don't have to contend with a lot of traffic or tight parking. Inside is a long interesting bar with an eclectic assortment of artwork/ pictures on the wall and metal sculpture actually on or near the bar. There's separate rooms for live music venues or karaoke. I was impressed with the classic cocktail menu and the assortment of absinthe based drinks. Prices are fair, bartenders friendly and knowledgeable. It's nice and dark inside too.... a perfect chill out place. This place also has live music on a pretty regular basis.

The most immersive bar in North Hollywood. You won't find a better mix of creative design/decor and great laid back environment. Get here before everyone else finds out about it. Hopefully Jella is your server

I absolutely looove this bar! It is exactly what I have been looking for in a local joint for years! It has a fantastically eclectic look and feel to it and brings in individuals just as unique as the bar itself. I was originally excited about the free pool tables available to play, but every time I go, I find myself in a fantastic conversation with one of the regulars I see there often. Good, kind people all around. Kind and welcoming service from the moment you are greeted by their fantastic hostess Ariel and amazing drinks every single time crafted by Andrew. Unique beers and cocktails and Mead in a HORN. WHAT?! It is easily the best place in Los Angeles and makes you feel even cooler when you sign up for membership!

Risky Business is a sure bet! This has been my go-to place for many years. Unique decor, friendly staff and excellent cocktails. Drinks are reasonably priced and the tip is included. I always feel relaxed here, like a neighborhood bar but you can be coming in from anywhere and it feels welcoming. So much creativity throughout from the different types of seating, the look of the bar, the music, the art on the walls, etc. It's a good place to meet up with friends or even go by yourself. BTW, their newsletter is a hoot.

Not sure what was going on but my friend and I walked in on a quiet Sunday and the bartender was clearly pissed off or something. My friend said hi and that she thought maybe she had been here on his first day bartending there. He responded with "now that you're done lying, are you going to order something"? I was like, we just walked in the door. Maybe we can look at the menu? So weirdly rude. Terrible service. Seemed exceptionally pissed off to be serving people. I was a bartender / waitress for 15 years and i would never talk to customers like that. Especially two women trying to get a drink on a Sunday evening. It was extremely odd and uninviting.

Came here on a saturday night for silent disco. Was not sure what to expect due to its location, but it turned out really fun. The bar has beautiful lighting and decor, friendly and attentive bar staff. There are pool tables and a drink roulette! A bar with a dance floor for silent disco and other events, very fun! Had an awesome time here, def going back.

I came here for a DJ gig. I was quite impressed with how big this venue is. Upon walking in you have the bar area, which really sports a nice collection of alcohol you can order. I was fascinated by the potions they had. I got the "Bliss" as well as "Lose your Inhibitions" potion for my friend. I also ordered an IPA and it tasted fresh. They serve AMFs here as well, for a good price. There's another room where DJs play at and it is very spacious. There's a lot of room to sit on the tables as well as plenty of room to dance.

Love this spot. Ari and Co. are all super personable, knowledgeable, and just genuinely skilled at creating a space where the best kinds of people want to hang. I always seem to befriend someone new whenever I hang at the bar. Highly Recommend

I haven't been in a bit but I would like to go back. I just started going here and then moved to the other side of town but I would totally make a trip back over there just to go to this spot. Maybe my favorite bar in the valley.

I really like this place! Parking can be challenging the later in the evening it gets, but it's doable. So many knooks and crannies to this place inside, it's like an old times absinthe funhouse. And a beautiful bar at that in the MIDDLE of the room, so aesthetically pleasing! There's a pool area on the Burbank Blvd side of the establishment, a small lounge on the north end of the bar, with a smoking patio with tables and counters adjacent to it on the outside. Now, in the back is the room where different "nights" are held. You got comedy Tuesdays, DJ nights, band nights and my personal favorite, karaoke nights every Monday. Zack and Wolfie are my favorite KJs in the Valley, seriously! Some nights are themed, and they'll do (Birthday) parties. Zack runs "Sign Me Up Karaoke" so check their website for the schedule. Zack is also patient, listens and respects patrons, even when they've partied too hard. He'll never "force" anyone to sing and if you are a little shy, he'll sing a duet with you. Wolfie is super accommodating as well. Check this one out to get your sing on, totally worth it!

Went to this place for New Years, lots of fun! Love the vibe and all the different rooms. Did Silent DJ disco for a little while for the first time too. Not sure what the regular cocktails are, but the sweet one for NYE was really good. My girl had a German beer that she can't pronounce, but she liked it a lot. Place has a great vibe and it's nice to have something a little fancier in the neighborhood without needing to go to Hollywood for it.

My old friend invited me spend Friday evening together. I have never been in karaoke before so she said that we have to go there. She live in Burbank so we chose The Other door. It is really unusual and unique place. We were enjoying karaoke and cool cocktails. Interior is interesting so it read nice when the girl from this place tell us everything about it. It was interesting experience. But I am not sure that that type of place is for me. Anyway, thanks.
