"Despite its out-of-town location, this contemporary, simply decorated restaurant is extremely popular. Fans of traditional cuisine will be in their element here, thanks to the perfectly prepared cuisine which is unfussy yet delicious and full of strong flavours." - Michelin Inspector

Absolutely Incredible. This is a restaurant for people who enjoy authentic, high quality bolognese cuisine with a local vibe. Tough to get a reservation, but totally worth it.

All dishes were impeccable. We tried the lasagna, which has beaten all the other lasagnas we have tried in Bologna, the faraona, and the latte in piedi. Prices are definitely above average, but it’s worth it. Service was great too. Getting a reservation through the phone proved to be very difficult as the line was busy most of the time.

Thank you so much for this beautiful evening. We loved everything. The service was just unbelievable attentive and the food was superb. We had our little dog with us and they were really friendly towards him. The portions were a bit too big for our liking, we had 3 courses. So we needed to skip desert, although we'd have love to try it. Definitely gonna come back the next time we visit Bologna!

Great food, exceptional service, warm atmosphere. 10/10. Also, this was the best lasagna I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve lived in Italy for almost 6 years. Highly recommended, and will certainly come back!

We stop in Bologna just to visit and try this restaurant. The food is freshly made and well presented. The taste is great!! The quality of the food is well accompanied with a friendly and warm staff. We have ordered tortellini in brodo, tagliatelle al ragù, passatelli e guancia di manzo. Everything was very tasty and delicious!

Made a reservation which was confirmed and we took the long trip to Al Cambio only to find that they are closed until Jan 22. The three of us lost precious time on our vacation. Al Cambio could have updated their website or their hours on Google Maps but they did neither, complete negligence. They clearly don’t care about customer experience.

They never reply to phone calls or answer emails, which only leaves you the option to go to the city outskirts and see if you are lucky, as other users have pointed out. Not worth the ride as there are many better restaurants in Bologna which, moreover, are friendlier.

Straight forward bolognese & lasagna , no fuss , casual yet refined ambience Establishments like these deserve more recognition by diners and gourmands alike , as it has universal appeal

Yelp
I have a difficult time understanding why anyone would recommend this restaurant, specially Mario Batali.Maybe it has been a while since he has eaten there. I think that eating Italian food should be best in Italy, but wrong we were. There were six of us on our last night in Bologna, after having mostly wonderful experiences at other restaurants we decided to come to Al Cambio. Two of our friends are Italian, so language was not a problem. From the beginning the waiter seemed indifferent as if he didn't want to do his job, even though the restaurant was not busy. We did ask about the Pancia di Vitello and although we were told it was a little fatty it turned out to be a slab of fat with hardly any mea on it. The tortellini in brodo were almost uncooked. When our main dish arrived, five of us received our food but since the waiter took the order incorrectly one of us was left waiting for 30 minutes before receiving the correct dish. No acknowledgement from the waiter on his mistake, if anything, he then disappeared for the rest of the evening. We don't need to be pampered, just served properly. Food 3, Service 0, Price above average, ambience not impressive.
