Really bad experience. Food was ok, fresh ingredients, but otherwise very basic. The service was really poor though - they kept being confused about everything and gave wrong dishes to wrong people, so people ended up not eating what they ordered. They brought two extra meals by mistake - one we agreed to accept but the other one was given to one of us by mistake and we were still made to pay for it. For this money it was crazy poorly managed. We waited more than 30 min for the receipt even though we were the only ones at the restaurant cause they couldn’t add things up. We left just angry.

Ristorante Da Nicolo: Located on the waterfront in the heart of Carloforte, Ristorante Da Nicolo is celebrated as one of the top regional restaurants1. The Pomata family, now in its third generation of restaurant ownership, has created a culinary haven where traditional Carloforte dishes meet modern variations. The impeccable service and professionalism of the staff make dining here a delightful experience. Guiseppe’s Humorous Service: During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of being served by Guiseppe, who truly went above and beyond. As the champagne bottle’s tap unexpectedly exploded, Guiseppe’s quick wit and humor turned what could have been a tense moment into a memorable one. His ability to keep the atmosphere light while ensuring excellent service was commendable. Cuisine and Atmosphere: Da Nicolo offers an à la carte menu for both lunch and dinner, along with fixed-price menus. From fresh pasta to grilled dishes, their tuna-based specialties are a highlight. The restaurant’s terrace, pretty tables, and attention to detail create a welcoming ambiance. Don’t miss their “Suggestion of the day”! Historical Significance: The Semaforo di Tonno was originally used as a signaling tower for the tuna fishing industry. It served as a lookout point to spot tuna schools and coordinate fishing activities. Over time, it has become an iconic symbol of Carloforte’s maritime heritage. Tuna Varieties: Da Nicolo takes its tuna seriously! They offer a selection of different types of tuna, each prepared with care and expertise. Whether it’s the delicate one, the flavorful one or the meaty one , you’re in for a treat. Pair it with a crisp white wine or a refreshing local bubbles for the perfect dining experience. In summary, Ristorante Da Nicolo combines culinary Carlofortian cuisine with warm hospitality, making it a must-visit spot in Carloforte. Grazie mille, Guiseppe, for adding laughter to our dining experience! 🥂 If you find yourself in Carloforte, be sure to stop by Ristorante Da Nicolo and enjoy their delightful offerings!

5/5 fantastic evening for a special night (5/5 food, 5/5 service, 5/5 atmosphere). Food was fantastic, we got the octopus and crudite for starters followed by the linguine and Tuna afterwards. Cheese and a mirto sorbet for desert. We celebrated with a 2003 Korem wine which was fantastic! Food was super fresh, delicious and eveyrything was kept simple. Especially for a michelin guide restaurant, plates were well presented but nothing complex. Everything packed in the taste. Staff were super friendly and helpful through the night. Not too formal, everyone kept it light. Definitely recommend for an intimate night out

Excellent lunch, linguine Nicolò outstanding as were the various tuna specialties. Star of the lunch was an amazing bottarga cheese cake recommended by the waiter, which shouldn’t work but goodness did it just!

The restaurant is a milestone on Carloforte! I’ve been there for a dinner with my girlfriend and we’ve had a fabulous time with the friendly and professional staff and the food was amazing and the taste was super! Every dish perfectly cooked and the chef vision collects the tradition and imagination in a fresh combination! Da Nicolò is now on my top 10 favourite restaurants!

Google
Such a nive place in front of the port We order mineral water and the water was not cold at all. Twice the change the bottle and even the water was not happy with the service they give us. We ordered there famous paste made from the past 59 years … if you dont like olives do not order it… also big confusion with one of the 2 orders. Not sure the have a 4.3 score … maybe 3.9…

Had never been after hearing a lot about this restaurant. Reviews are sometimes good and other times bad. We had a GREAT experience, the starter, which was not a regular was delicious, creative and the proportions for a prawn tartar were great. We had stars in our eyes tasting the Da Nicolo signature pasta. The dessert was great too and they have some nice wine options with some twists to traditional grape varieties. We ll be back every year!

Yelp
After a long day of travel and car ferries, and a Google Maps that was taking us in the wrong direction finding the restaurant, we walked in at the end of their lunch service. They were very kind to still seat us and we had a wonderful meal centered around tuna, the historic local industry. We were tired and opted for the tasting menu which was a lunch special. Fantastic flavors, starting with a platter of 4 antipasti...classic preserved in oil, tuna pate, cured tuna over ricotta with a touch of pesto, and grilled octopus with pesto. Yes...pesto. This area had a lot of Ligurian settlers over the years, so they brought pesto from Genova with them. And I love how the Sardinian and Sicilian chefs break the seafood/cheese rule and combine the two! The cured tuna over ricotta was a play on the classic Sicilian smoked fish with ricotta and honey. Next up were two wonderful pastas....a thick rope-like pasta, similar to Korean ddukbokki with pesto and a terrific light vegetable couscous, also traditional in the area. After that was the grilled tuna, served rare over a tomato-less ratatouille and drizzled with a reduction of Cannonau red wine and a bit of balsamic. I hate balsamic reductions, but this was so subtly done I thought it was a glace de viande meat reduction. Dessert was a fun take on cassata siciliana, deconstructed a bit in a good way. The waiters were charming, helpful, and the whole ambiance relaxing.
