"This historic Florentine trattoria now has a slightly new look, with the open-view kitchen visible as soon as you enter the restaurant. The friendly and welcoming ambience here makes it a popular choice, so booking ahead is highly recommended. Delicious, authentic cuisine is to the fore, including delicious Florentine steaks and other classic favourites." - Michelin Inspector

We walked in without a booking, we were lucky to grab the last available table. Highly recommend booking in advance! The staff was friendly, described the menu in English and shared their recommendations. There was probably an error on their end, since we waited 45 minuted for the antipasti. The food was good, the pesto gnocchi was excellent, a favourite. Other dishes were hearty and homey, but nothing stood out as extraordinary. The atmosphere felt very authentic, big family eating together type of place.

It bears reminder that this place only takes physical cash, Euros only and the nearest ATM is a bit of a walk away. That being said the food is great. Rustic feeling Tuscan food without frills but definitely with plenty of flavor. The vegetarian dishes are packed with flavor and they definitely didn't phone it in. The highlight however has to be the Florentine steak. The cook on it was great, with a good char and a good amount of salt crust seasoning the steak. We had 1.2 kilos of meat, with one kilo being the minimum order but cuts are eyeballed and they will probably weigh more as with our case. If you like your meat on the rarer side, the restaurant does recommend the cut be cooked medium as is traditional and I'll say that it's still a juicy cut and if you want the rarer bits, some of the meat on the bone can be trimmed off for that expensive. A great restaurant, with a very interesting menu and a homely Atmosphere. I would definitely come back to try some more of the more exotic items on the menu next time.

This is seriously such a special spot, and you really get a bang for your buck. The food is absolutely incredible classic Tuscan dishes that are simple yet delicious. The staff are always so kind and help you navigate the menu, and were very accommodating to dietary restrictions! You MUST order the pear & pecorino ravioli and the Pici pasta!! SO So yummy! A must-visit!

An amazing “local” restaurant in Firenze to enjoy bistecca florentina. Steaks are cut to rib size, so you’ll get something between 1.1-1.4kg per steak. Cooked perfectly, and the steak tastes great. A very enjoyable meal, paired with their Sangiovese, and sides of white beans and tomato. A highlight meal in Firenze. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Outstanding meal at an interesting restaurant. Rule 1... don't be in a hurry. Rule 2... Be prepared for excellent food. Rule 3.... Cash only!

What an experience this place was! The food was out of this world, it was so simple yet so delicious and full of flavors. We started with the Toscano Misto, which comes with 2 slices of four different cold cuts, cheese, and a small bruschetta sampler. I had the cappellacci di Ricotta e Pere, which was 3 large filled pasta, and with each bite I could taste both the pear and the cheese blend. The steak was also a killer. Simply cooked but it was so tasty. Only downside was that it took a long time for our table to get all of our food. We were in for a bit over 2 hours. And beware that ONLY CASH is accepted, they do not take card.

The most amazing place we’ve eaten at in Florence! The staff were incredible and so was the food. We ordered a delicious dry Chianti (classic Monteraponi) the Florentine steak, potato gnocchi, Pici (fresh pasta with minimal ingredients), Ossobuco (beef slow cooked in tomato sauce for 3+ hours) with peasant style potatoes, and a side of green beans and Tuscan white beans. No room for dessert, unfortunately. We would be regulars if we lived here! …We walked in and got lucky, but I recommend making a reservation.

Heaven. The aromas, the flavors, the experience. Italy is a feast for the senses; Firenze the most. We walked in for lunch when they first opened and were seated right away. The service is attentive and impeccable-helpful, but not overbearing. They allow you the time to savor the experience. We ate the most divine creations. One note-they do not accept credit cards, so make sure you have euros. We will definitely eat here every time we visit Firenze.
