Del Fagioli

"This historic Florentine trattoria now has a slightly new look, with the open-view kitchen visible as soon as you enter the restaurant. The friendly and welcoming ambience here makes it a popular choice, so booking ahead is highly recommended. Delicious, authentic cuisine is to the fore, including delicious Florentine steaks and other classic favourites." - Michelin Inspector

Google
This is your place if you want down to earth, real Italian. No joke, this was the crown Jewel of good old fashion food in the Tuscany Region. It took me 4 days to find a restaurant that served Home made Coniglia, ( rabbit), one of my all time favorites. Florence restaurants rarely offer it, much to my chagrin and surprise. I’m of Portuguese descent and I grew up adoring a well prepared Coniglia. This one was especially noteworthy for it’s tender meat, likely pan- fried with OO and adorned with Rosemary and perhaps a hint of Bay leaves. It was accompanied by a tasty dish of white beans that I sprinkled some additional OO, ( cant get enough of this staple Italian condiment), and parmesana. The combination brought proverbial tears to my eyes, as I ate and cried for more. 😩 My wife enjoyed here homemade Ravioli, she loved the pear that was incorporated into the ravioli, giving it a uniquely favorable taste. Almost forgot. They succeeded in making a sometimes trite and admittedly boring appetizer jump off the table with bustling flavor and texture- the always dependable BRUSCHETTA. Dessert was a delicious Apple Cake, washed down with.fresh decaf Capuccino. Price: 65 EUROS !!!!!!! Atmosphere: humble, clean, busy Service : 7/10 Tips: Reservation #.1. Preview and choose your meal while you’re in your room- for two reasons, maybe three. Number one the Internet is poor , number two you may not have a waiter that speaks as good English as mine, and number three the menu is entirely in Italian- zero English. #2 Expect quality, not overpriced and under portioned #3 Bring cash, no cards #4. Close your menu when you’re ready to order or they might ignore you for a while. Busy place #5. Good people. I started off with a smile and a hand shake with the host, maybe owner #6. If it’s two people, you’re gonna eat under 100 Euros. I was well under. I tipped 20 Euros… ten to the ultra hard working food and drink runner and 10 to the helpful waiter. Conclusion: go there …. Value…. Taste, quality stand out…. Even Michelin agrees

Google
We found this restaurant on the Michelin guide app. The food was fantastic, a real tuscan experience. We had the florentine steak and the Pici “All’Aglione”, absolutely fanatic. The waiter took the time to talk us through each dish and helped us pair a wine with the dish. So glad we came here :)

Google
I walked by this Ristorante and after investigating the menu - I can tell you this is real Tuscan food. Simple, well presented and delicious. I was immediately seated and given plenty of attention as requested. The gentleman that states they only accept cash is wrong. I stepped up to the cassa and paid with Apple Pay, no questions or problems. I plan to go back as soon as I can!!!

Some of the best food we had in Italy. Highly recommend the lemon ravioli and homemade pesto gnocchi. Great prices, great service, incredible food.

I had bookmarked this place thanks to Michelin guide for value for good Tuscan food. Have been, tasted and left super happy. Wonderful place with locals.

Google
First of all these people are amazing. I have read all the bad comments about service, non-welcome behavior from server and owners, only cash payments and all. I have to say non of them happened while we were there. They welcomed us since we entered the restaurant. They have informed us about food and took our order. Even the owner said we ordered too much food and he suggested us to cancel couple of them and we listened and guess what he was right. The best ribollita i have ever had and believe me i had it every single restaurant that serves ribollita. Pappa al pomodoro warm, made with fresh tomatoes simple yet perfect Picci and pappardelle hand made perfectly cooked not heavy and fresh. And Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Hands down the best Florentin steak. The best. They don’t insist about temperature of the steak. Not rare actually it’s between medium to medium rare not bloody and really quality cut. We never take a picture in any restaurant we went but this one was exception. I could give here 10 our of 5 if i can.

Google
Really good food. Very nice spices and texture; I ordered both meatballs and tomato soup. Both superb. All of the dishes for my entire family were great! Such a pity we discovered this restaurant on our last day!

Yelp
This place was great. We were tired and stumbled in here on our first night in Florence. The food was great, servers were friendly and attentive, and the location is perfect. Highly recommend a reservation for a later dining time. They start to fill up around 8/8:30. The menu is in Italian but the waiters are nice and speak English enough to help explain the food. The owner served us and split both our orders for each plate because he knew we would split. Bruschetta- great fresh tomatoes. House red- good, full body Roast beef- tender and savory Pork- tender and so good. Potato's Spinach Pay up front whenever you're ready.

Yelp
Michelin Guide recommended trattoria in Florence known for Florentine steaks. I think you can book reservations ahead but we arrived at opening for lunch and were the first ones there so no wait. Service was kind and the waiter actually helped us with ordering so we could try a couple things without over or under ordering, especially in regards to the steak. Cash only. Steak is 58 euros per kilo, which amounts to about 2lbs inclusive of bone and meat. One kilo is the smallest size you can order. Plenty of meat for just two people, especially with a couple other dishes to try. One thing to note is that Florentine steaks are served on the rarer side. Comes as a t-bone cut seasoned with salt. Especially flavorful, meaty, and rich but balanced by a side salad that was recommended. Also had a chicken liver dish spread on bread. Simpler presentation than the one from Podere 39 with a simpler flavor.

Yelp
Delicious homemade, traditional Tuscan food. We tried the mixed appetizer, a simple tomato based pasta dish and the ossobuco. The pasta sauce was simple yet so rich because of the quality ingredients. For dessert we had the apple, ricotta and vinsanto cake which was served warm and was the perfect sweet close to our meal.

Yelp
Great florentine steak! For sides, had the Tuscan white beans and radicchio salad, which complemented well. Great service and a cozy ambiance. Reservations are strongly advised.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this restaurant. Excellent service. Ribolitta was good, but too bread heavy to be my favorite. The raviolli was very good and different. Is it a top thing? No, but very enjoyable. Had this sausage red sauce with Tagilettelli, one of the best red sauces I have had at a restaurant ever. Florentine steak was great. Not sure how it compares to other. Had the cream cake for dessert - if I come back would get another dessert.
google avatar

Yelp
The one and only place to get a florentine steak in italy. Better than Ruth Chris--they dont drown in butter, but let the quality taste of the meat come through. Looks like the set of a movie and the staff was more than welcoming.

Yelp
Cash only!! Ensure you make reservations. Located a bit away from the touristy center point but well worth the distance. We came for the bistecca fiorentina and were certainly not disappointed. The steak is brought out raw first to showcase to you before it's dropped onto the grill. We shared 1.2kg of steak and the penne meat sauce pasta, along with the fagiolini verde and were stuffed. Our servers were super efficient but very friendly. The pasta was also cooked well and their house wine is quite good. The entire staff including kitchen thanked us on our way out, it was a lovely experience!

Yelp
We first went to Ristorante del Fagioli 5 or 6 years ago and it was unplanned and last minute. We showed up right before they closed for lunch, but they took pity on us and couldn't have been nicer. The meal was fantastic and memorable enough that since that amazing experience we have been looking for an opportunity to return and eat another great meal and that moment arrived for us. We made reservations for lunch because we didn't want to miss our opportunity, and because they aren't open on the weekends. I have been wanting to try a classic tomato and bread soup, Pappa al Pomodoro, since I made it at home so I could get a sense of how it is supposed to be made, so we ordered a bowl to split. This tomato and bread soup is simple, but they made a delicious soup delicate and subtle with hints of onions and basil. It was a great start to the meal. Our mains were boiled beef with a green sauce (Magro di Manzo con Salsa Verde) with a side of Tuscan white beans (Fagioli bianchi Toscani) and Ossobuco alla Fiorentina. This was our first time trying boiled beef and that alone was delicious and more flavorful than we imagined it could be, but it was brought to a new level with the green sauce (salsa verde). The side of white beans rounded out the course, but were expectedly understated, which worked for us. The Ossobuco is a familiar dish for me, but the Florentine style was new. The tomatoes paired well with the slow-cooked meat, which, although a bit hidden by the sauce, was quite a bit larger than I was expecting. It was tender and delicious. We got a very simple house red wine that was inexpensive but tasted great and went well with all the traditional dishes we enjoyed. We finished with some espresso, but skipped dessert because we were pretty full. We were so happy that we wanted to return during our three-day trip to Firenze, but this is when we learned they aren't open on the weekends and we were sad. Next time!

Yelp
Our best meal in Italy as much for the food as the kindness and patience of the owner, Antonio. Due to a booking error on our part, they didn't have our reservation on their books. They were totally committed and turned other walk in customers away. We were disappointed and ready to leave when Antonio told us declaratively, "Don't worry, you will eat here tonight." The food was a true quality experience in Tuscan food. They explained EVERY item on the menu. We started with two soups: the Ribolito and the Papa Di Pomodoro. Both fantastic and so unlike any soup I have had because of the added bread. I ate these soups with a fork. Try one or both as starters. Pasta was next and we had the Penne and Picci. One had a meat sauce and the other plain tomato sauce. Simple and pure in flavors. We ended with a 1.3 kilo steak shared 4 ways which was charred on the outside and still mooing on the inside. Delicious. We also had beans and potatoes which were delicious and not mooing at all. Desert was a slice of homemade custard torte and a slice of apple/pear torte. Everyone, starting with Antonio, was gracious, warm and patient even though they had to squeeze to let us in. All in all, our most memorable meal in a trip filled with good meals.

Yelp
The best place we ate at in Italy. We got there early so we were able to eat without a reservation. EVERYTHING was delicious. The fresh pasta. The bruschetta. The ambiance. I miss this space. Service was friendly. Use google translate if needed. Vegetarian friendly.

Yelp
Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Great ambiance with friendly staff. If you are In Florence, try this place.

Yelp
Tremendous. What a special place... such an authentic Tuscan menu. I had ossobuco that was delightful. Cooked perfectly as the meat fell off the bone. The tortelli were so amazing. The ricotta was light and all the flavors came together perfectly. Such a great atmosphere, I cannot wait until my next trip to Firenze.

Yelp
I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good food and service, i only gave four stars because they don't take credit card and it was a big hazzle for us tourist to find an atm machine. The server shiuld have informed us that they don't take credit card before he even seated us.

Yelp
Just eat here. Every day you are in Florence. The service superior. The food the best I have eaten in my life. Just do it.

Yelp
Best meal we had in Venice. The risotto with seafood was outstanding. Lamb chops on Easter perfect. The tiramisu was best in Italy. Service outstanding.

Yelp
By chance we stumbled upon Del Fagioli and made a reservation. The service was impeccable, they were kind to translate the menu. The food came out quickly and tasted incredible. It was mostly tourists but you could tell word had got around how fantastic this place was. It truly was some of the best Tuscan food I've ever eaten, and I studied in Florence for two months. I got the ossobuco; highly recommend for a melt in your mouth experience.

Yelp
Do not get the Passa Di Fagioli soup. Looks and tastes like Plaster of Paris (yes, I was a little kid once and know what that taste and smells like). The tagliatelle pasta, on the other hand, was delicious. A simple tomato based sauce with a bright flavor prevailed. Probably makes anyone who cooks think "I could do that!" As simple as the dish appears, it is likely beyond what most home chefs can pull off. Believe me, I've tried and will continue to do so. Your luck and talents may be better. It's probably me, but also has to do with the local ingredients - garlic, olive oil, salt, tomatoes and ? Had the bifsteak. With all the great reviews, I expected to be blown away. Alas, I was not. The filet was good but rest of the cut was unusually tough. Had to chew and chew and chew before trying to casually spit out the tough grit. Happened for more than 4 bites. Maybe it's because I live in Texas now and have become San Francisco smug about my steaks, but I expected better from this highly rated Restuarant.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this small restaurant, nice staff. Fresh delicious food. We found it for lunch and a few days later it was a perfect dinner after a very long day. We will return on our next trip to Florence.

Chris D.

Yelp
Amazing. The service, food, wine, and dessert were some of the best, and most authentic on our trip. The Florentine steak was exquisite. I thought my wife was going to hug our waiter! Book early!

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Florence. The food is very traditional but it's done SO well: in winter I had the ribollita and I still think about it. In spring, the panzanella was absolutely incredible and so light. Plus their pours for wine are very generous. Do yourself a favor and come here. The Michelin guide doesn't lie in this case!

Yelp
We LOVED this dinner in Florence! A couple things first off! Make sure you make a reservation or you probably won't get in. Its cash only! As you walk in it feels like a rustic and authentic Florence establishment. There's an open pass to the kitchen where you can see the chefs preparing food and some of the huge cuts of beef. The menu is completely in Italian, but it wasn't too hard to figure out what most things were. The waiters did a nice job of explaining things for diners and they never came off as annoyed while doing so. I'd definitely recommend doing the steak Florentine, its what they're known for for good reason. Sold by the kg, they bring out the cut before preparing so you can marvel at all the beefy goodness. Definitely big enough to share. We started with the pesto pasta and the sauce was great. Nothing fancy just lots of freshness of herbs and flavorful olive oil. We also enjoyed white beans as a side to our steak, a great pairing. Straight forward, sautéed preparation they tasted buttery and light. This brings us to the star of the show: the steak was beyond. Perfectly cooked mid-rare and seasoned well. Melted in your mouth. A real show-stopper and something special. The waiters were friendly, I don't think they ever stopped moving. But they definitely follow the 'let them eat and not be bothered' culture, so don't feel bad if you need to flag them down for something. We thoroughly enjoyed this dinner!

Yelp
Best Tuscan steak in TOWN!!! Found this when researching best meals in florence and was not disappointed. The space is nice, has an antique feel to it, and has bottles of chianti at every table as their house wine (priced like no wines in the states at a restaurant!). The Tuscan steak is certified with an actual sign on the door, as there are requirements for florentine steak (has to be the right kind of cattle). All in all with a 2kg piece of perfectly cooked steak, appetizers, and plenty of wine for 4, we spent no more than 90 Euros!!! Make sure to check them out!

Yelp
It boggles my mind that this bistro made it into the Rick Steves Italy 2017 guidebook. Rick's recommendations have NEVER failed us in the past, but this place was a food and service disaster, right down to a bland, watered down Chianti house red that harkens back to the days before the DOCG was able to turn off the spigot of swill pouring out of Tuscany. Service was choppy and perfunctory. My pork stew with potatoes was serviceable, if somewhat fatty, and very bland -- no seasoning whatever. Which was better than the bowl of penne bolognese my wife managed, like a champ, to half finish. Anyone with 30 minutes, a stovetop and a box of noodles could beat that dish. And don't get me started on the soup. 50 euros wasted. Too many other options all over Florence to walk in this doorway...someone is loving the Rick Steves recommendation and laughing all the way to the bank. Atrocious.

William P.

Yelp
This place was so tasty! The staff were quite helpful in terms of what to order. I was able to make a reservation an hour before I ate. Heads up, they are cash only.

Yelp
AMAZING! 10/10 highly recommend if you're in Florence looking for a mildly cheap meal that'll make you go mmmmmmm. This was our last, best, and cheapest meal during our 3-day trip in Florence. We didn't make a reservation and got there around 7:45pm, 15mins after they opened. We didn't have to wait at all and was seated almost immediately. Side note: we were traveling during off-season (end of January). Also, this place is cash only! We can't read Italian so it was a little bit of a hassle reading their all-Italian menu. However, we managed through the blessed help of Google Translate. To start off, we got their red house wine and this was probably the best house wine I've ever had. You only pay for what you drink, which we found convenient as a couple of lightweights (we paid 5€ for 1/2L). The server was super friendly/helpful and told us about a Florentine tomato soup (pastina pomodoro), of which we got as our prima patti, alongside the famous trippa (tripe). For our appetizer, we got a platter that consisted of prosciutto, tuscan ham, bruschetta, liver, etc. (the usual meat platter). These three dishes were absolutely DELICIOUS. The thick soup was something I've never tasted before and it just went SO well with my tastebuds. The thickness of it reminded me of Chinese congee, but far tastier. Definitely highly recommend the pastina. The tripe was similar to what we usually eat at Chinese restaurants, except cooked in pure tomato paste, which was different yet surprisingly tasty and unique! For dessert, we tried their pear, chocolate and cheese cake. They have it out in a cupboard near the kitchen, which was where we were seated (it was just SO tempting) and they heat it up for you when you order it. It came to our table hot and we loved it so much, we ordered another piece. But wanting to diversify, we got the pear and apple cake instead, which was just as remarkable. This ristorante had a super homey/cozy vibe, making this experience feel even more authentic and comfortable. This was an unbeatable end to our Florentine trip and could not be happier.

Yelp
This is one of a kind place. Amazing food, fast service and friendly staff. It's a small place so could be little tight at times. We ordered the chicken liver and it was very good. The only down side of this place is that they don't accept card and having located near the tourist destination makes it difficult for lots of people to have cash on hand. We made a special exception to go to a cash only place while traveling. But it was worth it. -1 star for not accepting credit card.

Yelp
Rating: 89/100 pts Passing by Ristorante Del Fagioli and seeing the handwritten, Italian-only menu posted at the door was enough to draw me in. They're a family-managed Tuscan restaurant that has been in business for nearly 50 years; refreshingly not catering to tourism, they have a changing menu that incorporates fresh, seasonal ingredients. The meal was incredible, and is on my short list of favorite meals I had during my trip. From what I could read, the menu sounded great. Trying to understand the items unfamiliar to me, our waiter swooped and gladly provides a thorough explanation on how each dish was flavored and prepared, in what was likely the most comprehensive and professional English menu explanation I got during my whole trip. I ended up getting a 6 dish meal that included: - Antipasto - Soprassata, a Tuscan salami, and the local Pecorino cheese--amazing quality stuff, and completely worth the €8. - Pumpkin Tortelli, which was topped with pecorino cheese, pepper, and olive oil, and filled with liberal chunks of pumpkin, further complemented with lemon. The pasta was incredibly fresh, and included 5 large pieces. The flavorings blended together incredibly well, producing one of my favorite pasta dishes I've ever had. I wanted more. - Lombatina di Vitella (veal), which was served with the bone but pre-cut into bite-sized pieces and flavored lightly but effectively. Very tender. As with Florentine Steak, it's served by weight (though it's not nearly as thick). Good, but not quite as essential as the Steak. - Artichoke vegetable side dish. The only time I had artichoke while in Italy. It was delicious, flavored with little more than olive oil and salt. For dessert, they have gelato, freshly baked torte cakes and cookies, or cheese. I went with the Chocolate Ricotta and Pear torte--which, was as phenomenal as it sounds. There was a layer of dark chocolate over a thick base of cheese. I enjoyed every bite, all the while lamenting over there not being enough desserts in the US that use ricotta cheese. The meal ended up being around €35 per person. And, fully satisfied, I was happy to pay it. (Without having gotten the Florentine steak or any wine.) I came in as a party of 2 at 7:30, just as they were opening, and didn't have to wait. Reservations may be needed at a later time. Definitely do not miss the Pumpkin Tortelli if it's in season, which was the most essential dish I had here.

Yelp
Overall good. Shared the steak Florentine which was good- a bit fatty and not the best quality meat I've seen but decent. Homemade pasta first course was good. Fantastic Chianti wine. Good white beans. Overall I'd recommend the place. It's been in business over 60 years so must be doing something right. Great friendly service

Yelp
Wowza this place is good. It came HIGHLY recommended from a friend who said ate here twice. It was our first night in Florence, and the perfect intro to Italy. Though no other meal lived up following, set the bar REAL high. The menu is all in Italian but the waiters help you navigate the menu. And I looked at pictures on TripAdvisor and showed them what I wanted and they got me that food. Super great. The meatballs and potatoes were PHENOMENAL. Loved both pasta dishes we got, one in bolognese and one in sausage ragu. Both so damn good. And I think I had the best sautéed spinach of my life. Garlicky and tender! I can't say enough about how awesome this place is. Don't miss this when visiting. It's that meal you'll always remember.

Yelp
I walked into Del Fagioli and was greeted by a Jason Stathom looking fellow. He looked pretty damn mean but was extremely friendly. He sat me down at a table and handed me a menu. Very rarely have I looked at a menu and been unsure what to get, so leaving my meal at the hands of the waiter is something that I rarely do. I asked him to surprise me and asked that I did not get a mainly vegetarian meal! I was started with some cold cuts that were fantastic. They cut apart like something that was slow cooked. The main was this roasted veal in a very nice tomato sauce. It came with a side of potatoes that tasted like they were cooked in basil and chicken stock. MORE OF THIS were the only words that I could think of when I finished the plate. I finished with a slice of cake that was filled with ricotta, topped with apples and pears and then topped with chocolate sauce. This was easily, and I mean easily the best meal I had on my Italy trip. I had a chance to eat at 4 Michelin rated restaurants and this was by far my favourite. I recommend that you make dinner reservations or you won't get in. If you walk in at lunch you have a shot. They are closed on weekends as well! The menu is all Italian so ask for some help if you don't know Italian :)

Yelp
Fantastic traditional dinner at Fagioli. Yes, its mostly tourists, and yes it's fast moving, but the food is delicious and well priced. As everyone says, the Florentine steak is well worth it, but don't miss out on some other stand outs like the ravioli with lemon (lemon in the pasta - divine, unique, never had anything like it before), the white beans (simple but satisfying), the chicken liver pate, and the antipasto. Nice wines available as well. We quite enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back. Definitely make a reservation!
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
We went in hopes of experiencing steak in the Florentine style, so we let our waiter recommend how it was cooked.... but it was just too rare for our liking. It arrived looking beautiful... but when digging in, it was just too raw. We normally enjoy rare meat but this was beyond rare to the point of raw and was not at all tender (the inexpensive steak knives didn't help). No one ever checked on us so we couldn't do anything about it. We finally had to ask for the bill several times, and ended up leaving a little hungry after 92 euro. My advice is, to ask for it pink and not red, if you don't want raw meat placed in front of you. Also it's cash only!

Mark W.

Yelp
Good family restaurant with huge portions for family style eating. Very busy and felt understaffed. Glad we were able to get in. The pasta was excellent as was the roast beef.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend who lived here. She said it was by far her favorite so we had to go. We were not disappointed. It's probably good to make a reservation, although we got there right when they opened and got a table. The service was excellent and it was helpful that our waiter spoke very good English. The house red was great. We had bruschetta, a salami plate, ravioli with ricotta and lemon, beef sliced very thin and cooked with a light sauce, and meatballs with potatoes. Everything was wonderful and the place filled up quickly with both tourists and locals. I very highly recommend this restaurant. Buon appetito!

Yelp
Save your time standing in line and waiting for a table. This place over cooks their steaks to a point of no return. We read a review that said this place over cooks their steaks but we thought it may have been an isolated experience but we found out first hand that it is not. Foodies beware, you will not find a well prepared meal here with attention to detail, instead it is a quantity restaurant. They want to get you in and out as quickly as possible. I overheard a waiter say to the table next to ours "we have a reservation that is ready to sit at your table. Please hurry". Florence is full of amazing food. Please save your time and money and avoid this place.

Yelp
Good place, quaint, makes you really feel like you are in old Italy. Had the house wine with ravioli and Florentine steak. Very local as I did not see any tourists for dinner. Steak is a bit rare, but one of the better ones I've had in Italy. But coming from Chicago, I am a big steak fan, and it does not compare well versus our steakhouses. Not to mention it was 45 euro, which puts it at the same price point as the nice steaks, so in that respect, I was a bit disappointed. The Ravioli was fantastic, creamy and extremely flavorful without relying on the sauce. Wine was adequate and extremely cheap. One caveat is they don't allow you to take your leftovers and cash only.
google avatar

Snuffles B.

Yelp
When 1kg is the smallest chunk of aged meat you can get, you gotta bring your A-game and your wallet. At 45 Euro/Kg, you'd better come hungry. Is Bisteca Fiorentina the greatest piece of dead cow I've had? No - but it is still pretty darned good. And if you ask nicely, they will cut it up and grill some chunks longer for your insane friend who likes meat cooked more than rare or even more than medium rare.
google avatar

Sabrina L.

Yelp
Probably the worst restaurant I ever been to in my life. I have no idea why people would love this place. Service was not great, they wouldn't give me olive oil when I requested it. If you're a foodie, stay away !!!!! This is a tourist trap. I saw only Americans. I picked this place bc of the reviews. What a load of crock. Pasta was bland. The steak was slightly over cooked, no flavor. Please ! Don't go here.

Yelp
This restaurant was really delicious. I ordered some sort of meat stew (the waiter helped with the menu for us English-speakers, so I do not remember what it was called in Italian). We got there pretty early and the place filled up within about 45 minutes after we got there. I also really liked the vibe in there - it was welcoming and cozy. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Found out about this place from our taxi cab driver. Had the following meal for 2 people for about 100 euros total: - Antipasto Tuscan misto: various smoked meats, 2 types of crostini and 1 bruschetta - Tortelli pasta with ricotta and lemon filling - Bisteca alla Florentine: 1.25kg cut - Side salad - 1L house wine - Bottled water: unfortunately no tap offered - Cream cake - 2 cappuccinos It was an amazing meal. Would have been way cheaper if we didn't get the Bisteca at 45 euros/kg, but how could we resist? Service is top notch. The servers speak English and were very patient with our broken italian and explained every item on the menu with great detail. Loved it. Our best meal on our entire vacation.

Yelp
Best meal I've had in Italy. For the love of god anyone who does not agree should not be allowed into the country. I have travelled to literally every major city and the food and service and atmosphere are beyond any reasonable expectation.

Yelp
We had such a lovely dinner at Del Fagioli! Upon the recommendation of our Airbnb host, we went for the Florentine T-bone steak and were not disappointed. We chose the bruschetta to start to split, then a hefty 1.3kg steak (wow!) that they bring out before cooking to present to the table, with a contorni of fresh green beans and zucchini, then followed by their biscotti with sweet Italian wine. We also paired the steak with the house red which was lovely - they only charge you for what you drink. The service was well paced and friendly, and the food well priced and tasty. I would definitely recommend this for a nice dinner in Firenze!

Yelp
I need one hundred stars to rate this restaurant. BEST meals of our lives. We spend 4 days in Florence and the concierge at our hotel recommended this restaurant since day one. I wish I would have listened since day one because I would have eaten here every day although that would have beaten the purpose of trying different places in Florence. So, we showed up our second night, without reservations, and when we walked in the owner greeted us and gladly sat us down in one of the available tables. Now, the tables here are family style, meaning it is a long table that sits 8-10 people but you don't feel crowded at all. The menus are hand written with the current date so I imagine it changes quite frequently but they keep the popular items like the bistecca florentina among others. We could not understand the handwriting very well so we ask our server, which BTW was the owner of the restaurant and spoke a little bit on english, what he would recommend. He obviously recommended the florentine steak (bistecca), along with a smaller version of the florentine steak, and some kind of pork tenderloin. We decided on the mini florentine steak and the pork tenderloin. More on that later. BTW, because we wanted to try everything, we would always order two different things and share it among the two of us. So, we decide to start with the bruschetta. WOW. Ok, so 4 small pieces of toasted bread, tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, and a little basil. Super simple and I know it's just bruschetta but it was sooooo freaking good. I don't think it lasted more than 1 minute. We knew this was going to be the start of an amazing meal. For our entree along with the meat, the owner recommended the florentine potatoes (I have no idea what they have on it) and marinated artichokes in (some) sauce. Ok the potatoes and the artichokes were to die for. Very creamy and delicious and the perfect compliment to the meat. Ok, so when you order your meat in Florence, don't you dare tell them the cooking term you want. You are going to get rare/med rare (for steaks) and that is it. And believe me, it's going to be the best thing that has ever happened to you. Personally, I had never eaten something less than a medium. But WOW, WOW, WOW. I have never in my life had a meat with so much flavor as these. The florentine steak was rare, maybe medium rare but what amazed me is that 1) it was HOT all the way through and 2) not a single drop of blood came out of that steak. It was out of this world. The pork is cooked medium well and was equally flavorful, delicious and amazing. I don't know many good adjectives but I would use them all for this meal. We paired this wonderful meal with the house red wine. It is actually brought out in a really neat bottle and it was the best wine we had from our whole trip. My BF made an attempt to speak italian to the owner and asked him for his recommendation for dessert. I think he appreciated that. He smiled and said, in italian, "don't worry". He went ahead and prepared a plate with a small piece of all the desserts he had in the display. How awesome is that!!! I'm beating myself because I don't remember what the desserts were and I forgot to take a picture but I can assure you that they were amazing. I do remember, thanks to Coy W. review, that one of them was some type of cheesecake with pears on top. Guess where we had dinner on our third and final night? Yes! Start reading at the beginning again because it went exactly the same. A group of 8 people (some italian, some from switzerland) sat next to us this second time. I know maybe 5 words in italian. My BF knows maybe 20 words in italian. Somehow we were able to hold a conversation with an italian guy from this group about our trip, where we have been, where we were going next and how much we loved Italy and his love for Italy too. That is why I loved the family style table concept in this restaurant. You can strike a conversation with somebody that speaks a completely different language than yours and somehow it works out. Reservations are highly recommended. For our second meal there we asked the hotel concierge to make a reservation for us. Prices are ridiculously low. I think we paid 50 euros for the whole meal. Recap: bruschetta, steak, pork, potato side, artichoke side, sample of 3 desserts, and one bottle of wine. 50 euros!! Can you believe that? Also, they only open Monday through Fridays. Not open on weekends. To quote from the lonely planet website: "You have to respect a restaurant with the courage to close all weekend long".

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by our local host. She and her husband go there when they go out and we understand why. We had a florentine steak that was 1.7 kg! Even four of us could not finish it. We took it home and had salad the next day. What is amazing is that they cooked that huge steak, 3.75 lbs, to perfection! We had a wonderful selection of appetizers including antipasto, bread salad (you have to try it!) and tomato "soup". Our sides included green beans with tomatoes, white beans and green beans with zucchini. Everything was wonderful. We also split the house red which was very good. We had a wonderful experience and were very lucky because reservations are a must during the busy tourist season. Our waiter explained the entire menu to us and we chose to let him select for us. We would do this again in a heartbeat. Total cost for the evening was €35 each and it was money VERY well spent.

Yelp
We were treated out to dinner here by family and couldn't believe how delicious and authentic it was! We had a large group (11 people), but since you have to make reservations it wasn't a problem. It was listed as extremely expensive, but unless you are getting the steak, it is reasonably priced. I got the ricotta e limone torelli and it might be one of the most amazing dishes I've ever had. Wonderful cozy atmosphere, we truly enjoyed ourselves!

Yelp
Very good spot! Lots of tourists here but the food was top notch. Make a reservation. I had the panzanella salad which was omg amazing! Also had the gnocchi that were like fluffy pillows of goodness in my mouth. My husband had the meatballs with potatoes and that was so good too. Great service, yummy wine.

Yelp
Wonderful meal. They accommodated my family (with a 7 and 9 year old) even though we didn't have a reservation. Food and wine was delicious. Unbelievable.
