Ristorante Don Camillo - Ortigia - Siracusa

Was invited to this restaurant for dinner during the family vacation in Ortigia and I was blown away by it! Knowing the price tag, I had high expectations coming in and Don Camillo delivered. We took the fixed menu (the menu made of classic dishes of this restaurant). Each dish had its unique characteristics, a perfect balance between tastes, texture and presentation. The one that impressed me the most was the “langoustine sushi” (not the actual name of the dish): it came in a form of sushi but filled with langoustine meats wrapped around black inked pasta. The food was excellent overall and will leave wondering why it is not a Michelin starred restaurant. I’d highly recommend this restaurant if you would like to indulge yourself in a culinary adventure while visiting Ortigia!

Great experience here! We really e enjoyed the super plates here! Easy to memorize the dishes! Not like in many gourmet Michelin restaurants that you don’t memorise nothing! We tried some of them here in Ortigia, Taormina and Catania, but for my tastes, this was the best! And I can’t leave this review without writing how good was the service here! Really high class team! This restaurant was a nice surprise. We made a reservation on the day and were not disappointed! The atmosphere was so pleasant and the food was delicious. We went for the historic tasting menu, we were sad not to be able to do the wine pairing with it as we were traveling that day but will definitely come for it next time. The service was friendly and helpful and even though they didn’t offer orange wine by the glass on the menu they did provide. Grazie! The two dishes that were the highlight for us were the prawn and almond cream and the prawn sea urchin rolls! The only disappointment was the tuna as we were expecting more compared to the rest of the food. Also a minor thing that affected us a little bit was the fact that at the end they didn’t ask how our experience was. I know that Italians are proud and confident in their food but some feedback is always helpful to keep things top notch :)

This is one of the best restaurants that we ate in Sicily. The lamb dinner was equisite and so was the caring service of the waiter who brought many extras to the table and the best-tasting home-made bread and their own produced olive oil. It was a real good experience eating here and will remember it as one of the best places that we ate in Sicily.

Phenomenal experience... both the food and the service was simply exceptional. Creative and beautifully prepared, with perfect blends of flavors and experiences. Paired with an amazing white wine from Mount Etna, absolutely the best meal we've had in Sicily

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very unusual and lovely. It is a gorgeous place overall. We decided to go for the tasting seafood menu. Unfortunately, we thought it wasn’t something extraordinary. Some dishes were nice however others were very salty. We cannot think of one dish that gave us a wow factor. I am not sure if the saltiness is typical for Sicilian cuisine in general but it is not something I enjoy. It is purely because of my personal preference that I give this score. Overall it is a nice place to visit for a special occasion but I definitely would not visit it again.

Went for lunch and had an amazing experience! The service was exceptional, a real Michelin experience. We took the tasting menu which consisted from both fish and meat dishes, all were very tasty!
