"Situated in the picturesque historic centre of Salerno, this is one of the city’s best restaurants. The dining room here is almost minimalist in style, yet thanks to the soft lighting and beautiful background music it has a pleasing atmosphere; in fine weather, tables are set out in a charming inner courtyard. The cuisine is Mediterranean and contemporary, with a selection of light and creative meat, fish and vegetable dishes featuring on the menu." - Michelin Inspector

5 of us had an amazing dinner at Hydra this December. Tortello alla genovese with truffles is to die for. Food was absolutely exquisite and the service even better. Their wine list is one of the best. Saperavi from Georgia was our favorite choice. I can't wait to go back!!!

Very nice and modern restaurant, food was great. Service could have paid a little more attention but they were still on a great level.

We had an amazing time at hydra today! We enjoyed the chill and cozy atmosphere in the restaurant‘s garden. The menu presents as a modern and creative spin on classic italian cuisine. They also offer vegan and vegetarian dishes and tasting menus. The wine selection is huge. Our favorite dish was the parmigiana di melanzane espuma. Definitely one of the best experiences we had in the region during our stay.

Amazing family experience here in this Micheline restaurant! We thought the small coastal town of Salerno did not have these types of restaurants. We found Hydra by accident just getting lost in the alleyways of Salerno. Food was very good, very well presented and tasted great! The ambiance was very nice except for the noisy residential units right next to the dining area. Must try when looking for high end cuisine in Salerno!

We booked Hydra after seeing it in Michelin Selected list, but the dinner was a disappointing one. The dishes we tried had interesting combinations, but they didn't work out well: - carbonara foam + cocoa - mullet + red fruits - pork + apple - amberjack + some cookie base - risotto + sea weed + bottarga They do look nice and interesting on paper, but when we tasted them they just didn't make sense. The flavours didn't elevate each other. Both pieces of fish (amberjack and mullet), and even the pork had a foul smell as well. They _should_ be fresh, but maybe something is off about the marination / storage / cooking - I can only speculate, but it left us with a sense of discomfort. I had some digestional issues that night but it's hard to be certain that it was linked to this dinner. The textures are rich: cheese in foam, fish + crunchy base etc. Presentation was top notch for every single dish, we were actually most impressed by the bread plate. Risotto was cooked to perfection. We didn't see any faults in the service either, and the atmosphere was good enough. In summary, it seems the chef wanted to came up with interesting flavour combinations, with a rich mixture of textures and amazing presentation. I believe he delivered in all of these, except the most important one: flavour, therefore we didn't leave the restaurant satisfied.

Very classy and cozy place in the very center of the old town. The garden is a hidden gem far from the chaotic nightlife. The service was great and attentive, full of care. The food is fantastic and the wine list terrific! A monster list with more than 100 (I guess) natural wines from all Europe. Next to these, the great names of the Italian legendary wineries. The experience at the counter, drinking and chatting with the bartender gave us a plus to the whole time.

This was an experience to write home about. The food was impeccable, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the setting was incredibly beautiful and serene. Everything we ate was delicious, but the star for me was what they described as a zucchini cappuccino: zucchini, hazelnut, carbonara foam, cocoa and brioch. Incredible!

Yelp
We saw this place on a small side street close to the B&B we were staying at. Very slick/minimalist presentation on the inside, and nice garden area in back. Appeared popular with locals. Staff was attentive when we first arrived but got busy and possibly overwhelmed as the place filled up. All was still good, but we had to flag them for attention. We ordered an appetizer, with a pizza and pasta plate for out mains. Too much food for us, but we plowed through... The pizza was good but the dough is thicker than we like, and have gotten used to in the Naples area. Beer was cold. Good house red wine. We would go again and recommend it to others.

Yelp
Fantastic lunch at this Salerno gem, tucked away in the historic district. The modern aesthetic and flawlessly executed meal made for a needed respite after a long train trip to the South. We had the Branzino, the "gnocchi" and the cod, plus a simple insalata. All in our group were happy!
