I Rodella

"This complex, which also includes two junior suites and seven guestrooms, dates back to the early 17C and was commissioned by the Church as a stopping off point for travellers on their way to Rome. For many years now, the restaurant has been run by a Venetian family with twin brothers (both highly experienced) working in the kitchen and a third brother, a sommelier, at the helm in the dining room. The cuisine is inspired by local and Venetian traditions, with a modern approach to the combinations of flavours (including home-grown herbs) and to the presentation of its delicious, generous dishes. We recommend that you do as we did and follow Samuele’s advice when making your choice from the dishes prepared by Stefano and Andrea with great skill and passion." - Michelin Inspector

This is a wonderful little historic farmhouse restaurant in the hills of Umbria. If you make the effort to find it you will be treated to a fantastic dining experience. We suggest you try one of the chef's tasting menus. It was really, really good. They also offer a nice full menu with many creative dishes.

The food and wine are literally world class. The setting is delightful with the scent of jasmine. Service is friendly and efficient. It is not expensive! So worth a visit!

We ate dinner here while staying at the attached hotel and had a magnificent meal. Nice bottle of local wine and digestivi. Everything was exquisite, but (of what we tried) would especially recommend the lollipop di coniglio, i gnocchetti dei fave, il filetto di vitello, and il sablé con pralinato. Some have pointed out that the portions are small, but I would say they are sized just right for a restaurant of this caliber: you are satisfied without being stuffed. Staff is friendly, polite, knowledgeable, and highly professional. Beautiful outdoor seating protected from the elements and with a sunset view over the Umbrian landscape in the evening. Definitely recommend coming here if you are in the area of Deruta or Perugia.

Wonderful experience, the kitchen is a bit high class, so small portions, different courses, new recipes but very tasteful. The staff is really friendly and good with kids. The have a good choice of wines too. Recommend.

Beautiful place, a bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The food has classic flavors with modern twists and plating. They were generous with a couple complimentary offerings which were a nice start to the meal. For our first course we enjoyed a 65 degree egg with summer truffle which was delicious, and a bbq octopus. The octopus was cooked perfectly! It also came with a coconut foam which looked pretty but didn’t add any flavor to the dish. We split a pasta course of tagliolini with tuna tartare, dill crumble and dashi broth. Quite the unique dish and executed well. The fresh dill was very flavorful. For entrees we enjoyed the mackerel and the duck. Both proteins were cooked perfectly, though the purées could have used more depth in flavor. We also would have liked to see a stronger presence of fresh vegetables in the dishes. For desserts we loved the raspberry sponge cake and the baked apple. Both were prepared perfectly. Thank you for the wonderful dinner!

This family owned restaurant is in a beautifully restored building with a wonderful view of the countryside. I visited L’Antico Forziere a number of times which included small groups for lunch and dinner. The meals and wine were wonderful, excellent staff and management created a terrific space outside for wine and Hors d’Oeuvres. Thank you Samuele for all you and your staff did to make our meals a memorable experience. We will return!

It was very nice time which we have spent in Ristorante I Rodella. The food was very good and the service was very helpful and kind. Important to underline that we were there with our dog so the place is dog friendly. The one and only thing I could recommend to the owners / management of the place is to serve the water for the dogs. It will cost you nothing and the dog owners will always appreciate it during summer time. By the way deserts were very, very good.

Yelp
Wow!!! What a great family run/owned restaurant in Collepepe area. But you would never know it's family run. It's run like a 5 star restaurant and the service matches it. Every course of our meal was excellent and presentation was amazing. Great job to you all!! I highly recommend to anyone visiting Italy, but certainly think all locals should definitely support this great place.

Yelp
Out favorite place to go after visiting Deruta. Just one exit away, the restaurant is elegant but unpretentious. A beautiful dining room, quietly professional service and excellent food. Traditional dishes with modern twists ( such as beet pasta) are never gimmicky and always delicious. Save room for the Gran Dessert-- a large plate with some dozen small cakes, puddings, and other sweets. Enough for 4 to share. A great way to end a wonderful meal.

Yelp
A really special place for us over many years. Refined food, artful presentation, a beautiful room with vaulted brick ceilings and an outdoor dining area too. Family run. Impeccable service. Recommended for romantic meals and also catering for weddings etc. They also have accommodation.

Yelp
This farmhouse that you can stay and dine in is situated in Casalina, an exit away from Deruta (ceramic capital if Umbria, if not of Italy). Family owned and operated in an idyllic location with spectacular Umbrian countryside view and easily accessible. The son Sergio speaks English very well. The rooms are comfortable and has AC and wifi. The food is deliciously Italian, taste like home cooking but presented in a gourmet way, it makes your mouth instantly water when you see them approaching with your plate. The wine pairing enhances your palette even more. I've dined here twice now and both times u wish I had room for dessert!
