So we emailed Beppe for our reservations tonight. Beppe is the chef's brother. My boyfriend and his best friend were here in September '22 and discovered this restaurant during the Moto Guzzi Centinario plus 1 (because of COVID).
They said they had their best meal in all of northern Italy HERE during their 3 week motorcycle tour! I have patiently been looking forward to coming here. Hours are limited from 12:15-2:30, and 7:15 - 9:30 Tuesday - Sunday. We arrived Monday!! Had to wait 1 more day!
Il Giardinetto is elegant without being stuffy. When you first walk in you are greeted by nicely dressed waiters in black jackets who then escort you to your table and then the view hits you, it just takes your breath away!
We so enjoyed the textures, flavors, and presentation. Our waiters were attentive without hovering. Beppe is so warm and personable and makes his rounds to each table. What a kind, genuinely patient man. You feel like a guest in their home.
He took the time to explain their slow cooking process and how they have updated their dishes from 20 years ago. They slow cook their meats at 75 degrees (167 degrees Fahrenheit) for 18 hours. The result is just so refined. I don't have the words to explain it. Bookmark this place now, and do visit when in Mandello del Lario. (The home of Moto Guzzi Motorcycles)
Of course we will be back at least one more time before we depart Como. There's also lunch which we haven't experienced yet..,
