Il Pino was the best dining experience I had on the Amalfi Coast. The view of the Mediterranean was amazing from our table next to the open floor to ceiling window. During our meal, the bright blue water view turned into sunset view...it was absolutely stunning and romantic.
The service at Il Pino was impeccable. We didn't feel rushed or ignored...just perfect. Our glasses were continually filled, our dishes were explained in detail, and our fresh fish was served to us table side.
As soon as we were seated, we were treated to glasses of champagne, bruchetta, and 4 different types of bread along with their homemade olive oil. What a great start. We then had the artichoke and stuffed zucchini flower appetizers. Both were delicious. I loved the zucchini flowers stuffed with fresh ricotta. Sublime. We, then enjoyed our pasta course of open faced seafood ravioli and lemon and shrimp risotto. The open faced ravioli had tons of clams and mussels that were so perfectly cooked..never chewy or gummy. The lemon and shrimp risotto was served in the biggest lemon I've ever seen! This may be one of the best risottos I have ever had....it was giving the crab risotto from Minetta Tavern a run for its money. For our main course, we had the fresh local fish called cefalo prepared in a salt crust. It was served table side with a tomato and arugula salad. The fish was moist and the simple salad was so flavorful. I had the limoncello dessert and my BF had the almond cake thing which were both fantastic!
We had the best evening ever! I thank my friend, Marjorie, for recommending this restaurant. I would love to go back if I ever have the chance.
