"Located in the historic centre of an attractive village by the lake, this restaurant is a good option for anyone wanting to try Umbrian cuisine. Dishes made from freshwater fish (pike, carp, tench, eel and crayfish), as well as the famous beans from Lake Trasimeno and meat such as lamb and wild boar, take pride of place on the menu." - Michelin Inspector

Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Umbria—The 'Green Heart of Italy'

"There are also stellar culinary experiences outside the city center that simply must be tried: Castiglione del Lago's L'Acquario, is an excellent osteria with a well-rounded cellar serving some showstopping dishes like pici with goose sauce and chitarrini with smoked tench."

We stopped at the restaurant in Italy on our way from Rome to Florence, and it was wonderful. The setting was peaceful, the staff were very friendly, and the local fish dishes were incredibly fresh and tasty. A simple, beautiful place with great food, highly recommend!

Smallish portions but well worth it. The food is tasty and the restaurant is not a tourist trap like other places on the same street. Full of locals and the servers were super nice. Many vegetarian options.

Exquisite food. I ordered the salmon tartare and the prawn gnocchi. The portions were small but the taste and presentation were superb. The only item that I felt could be improved was the lemon sorbet. In my opinion, it was served lukewarm and instead should be served colder. Nevertheless, I had a positive experience overall.

This was hands down one of the highlights of my meals in Italy. All their ingredients are sourced locally, and you can really taste how fresh the ingredients are, and how much care was put into preparing them. The service was also top notch! If I could give this place 11/10, I would.

A nice meal. The highlights of the evening were the truffle tagliatelle and the duck pici. Everything else was just okay. The steak was a bit disappointing on the cook and flavour.

Absolutely outstanding. Carp is a very common fish in Asia and Australia, and this was the best carp I have ever eaten in my life. It was prepared so expertly and beautifully. The appetiser and gnocchi were also splendid, and the waiter and owner were so friendly. Highly recommend making a detour to this town just to eat at this restaurant.

Google
Michelin’ guide recommended selection…totally agree! They really now how to cook lake fish! Also great selection of umbrian cuisine, please don’t go without tasting the “queen carp fish”!

One of my top 3 meals in Italy during my month long trip. Everything was perfect from my arrival at the restaurant until I left. I am a solo traveler, I had a very nice table in the front dining room not far from the door. The waiters were very nice and very helpful in answering my queries. This restaurant made the Michelin Bib Gourmand for a few years already including 2023. I ordered the declination of the lake as an appetizer (Assaggi di Lago), it is composed of 6 to 7 little appetizers made from local fish except one which was made with olives. I had to start with the one in the middle then go to the one at 12 o’clock and go around clockwise and finish at 11 o’clock with the last bite. It was very good, although the last one was my least favorite, it was eel. For my main course I had the Tegamaccio, a fish soup featuring local fish and crayfish. It was also very good, beware there were some fishbones as we are talking about local lake fish. For dessert, I opted for the variation on a strawberry millefeuille with chantilly cream. Just WOW!!!! The presentation and the taste was amazing. It is really a variation, do not expect a French millefeuille pastry. To top it all, I tried the dessert wine they make, the Ippocrasso, it was a sweet and spicy wine, I loved it so much, I bought a bottle to bring back with me to Siena to share with the Italian family I was living with while attending classes in Siena. I also would like to mention that beside my table, there were a few books they make annually featuring the team behind the success of that restaurant. You can see some candid moments, the garden, some of the plates they prepared and read a few snippets about them. As mentioned, I was on my own at that restaurant, that kept me entertained and they were beautifully made. I highly recommend L’Acquario for a different culinary experience in Italy.

Yelp
Very nice place where you can eat inside or on the nice terrace. Service is professional and nice. Price are very reasonable. Large choice of local and other Italian food.

Yelp
6 of us had a fabulous dinner tonight at L'Acquario Service was exceptional and food was outstanding. Husband and wife work the tables while mamma and the two daughters are in the kitchen. We ate out on the very nice terrace while people strolled by. Pici pasta was excellent as well as the tagliente with mushrooms. Main courses of wild boar stew, osobucco and the steak were all fantastic. Highly recommend L'Acqario. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
2 Euro Coperto für ein Eis und einen Tee :-( Ausblick auf den See wegen dem Geländer nicht so gut wie erwartet. Zum Kaffee Trinken viel zu teuer
