L'Acchiatura

"Delicious cuisine from Puglia, including excellent orecchiette pasta with clams and chickpeas, served in a delightful ambience with a number of different rooms and internal patios. The same traditional atmosphere is evident in the attractive, well - equipped guestrooms, as well as in the picturesque swimming pool housed in a grotto." - Michelin Inspector

An honest, unpretentious restaurant, offering authentic top quality dishes and exquisite service. Additionally a very pleasant environment with a lovely small inside yard, an interesting wine list and a hospitable owner. Special mention to the mature gentleman that was serving our table. You have to visit Racale, only for the shake of this restaurant.

We dined with no reservation and were fitted in, we both had a pasta dish from the first dish menu, with the baked potato side. Food was very good - followed by an excellent tiramisu. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the waiter servicing us was very helpful and spoke English which was appreciated with our minimal Italian. Unfortunately we do not eat fish and this was a large part of the menu.

A hidden gem in Racale. Beautiful place, outdoor seating and nice and cosy dinner rooms. Service friendly and efficient (in French and German). A wide choice of local dishes and wines. A must if you are in Gallipoli area.

Authentic food in an original location, nice place to have a local dinner. Must have the antipasti mix.

Overrated in my opinion. Rooftop closed due to missing service personal. Very nice inner rooms in historic building. Even a magician (which we had servicing us speaking at least 4 languages) could not give us the attention we expected. Very fairly priced antipasti misti is diverse and good, but I missed a personal touch in the dishes making them different than the others. Manager did not help out occupied in administrative duties on a Friday night.

The location is nice, the staff kind and helpful. Dinner started very well with complimentary pittule (really delicious). The rest of the food was above average but nothing outstanding. Nothing really authentic, a bit of a tourist trap!

Very nice hospitality and great authentic cuisine. We were lucky to secure one of the spare tables, but better book in advance.

Great service but that is about it… We were really looking forward for this dinner and drove 45min to eat at L’acchiatura and perhaps our expectations were to high. The restaurant is beautiful but the food…. We ordered the antipasti tasting: 10 plates of soulless specialties. A great example where quality should prime over quantity but unfortunately it wasn’t the case. For the secondi we had a the mix grilled fish and sea food along with the beef speciality in sauce: The swordfish and the calamari was overcooked and dry I felt like I was eating a shoe sole. the beef was a cold and poorly executed hospital ragu. While the service was great and waiters were extremely friendly and welcoming the food was mediocre at best.
