Ristorante L' Olivo at Al Mahara

Modern (Nouvelle cuisine) restaurant. We had the 7-course Signature menu. During the dinner you get some more free chef surprises. Yes, the dishes are small, but gradually you get full, and they are delicious, exquisitly presented and very creative. Service was impeccable, especially by our excellent waiter Ibrahim, who also speaks excellent Russian, but others too. The impressive aquarium adds a lot to the experience. A well worth experience.

We came here on Thursday night for dinner in late December during a two night stay in Dubai at different hotel in Palm Jumeriah. That evening there was forecasted to have unusually strong thunderstorms so many locals in Dubai were not venturing out of their homes. We made the reservation about a week in advance and the restaurant required us to leave a credit card in case of cancellation 24 hours prior to dining. The restaurant also had inconsistent dress code requirements on their website vs speaking to them on the phone prior to dining vs actual experience. The reservation site defines the dress code as “Smart Elegant?”. I generally would recommend wearing pants and button up shirt but we also saw people in polos. The restaurant was less than half full so I’m not sure how much a reservation is required or if it was a function of the weather. The restaurant is in the famous Jumeirah Burj Al Arab which is cool to see up close and inside. The restaurant centers around a large aquarium with many different colorful marine life actively swimming around. The restaurant and the hotel feel dated by at least 20 years, but it’s still cool to see. You can choose between a tasting menu or ala carte dining. If you do Ala carte dining, you have to order at least two courses. Overall, this is definitely a culinary experience. The food was delicious, beautifully plated, and somewhat unique. The service was superb, warm, and very professional. We each had two courses and about five drinks between the two of us and the total spend including a small additional tip was around 1,500 AED. Without giving much away, there are additional complimentary items that were served to us during the meal. In general, we left feeling well fed. I would recommend this experience and I’m glad I went. I would probably go back if price wasn’t an issue.

We went to this restaurant for my wife’s birthday. It was her first time in Dubai so we wanted to go to a very special place. The location of the restaurant is perfect. You have the opportunity to see the Burj Al Arab and to enjoy the hotel grounds while you have dinner. The staff at the restaurant is very experienced and they made sure that we had a great time. The food was OK, but I will say that it is probably not as good as it should be for the type of restaurant that this is. I found the champagne tasting to be a little bit pricey but I am not going to base my review on cost. We had the seven course tasting menu and it was enjoyable but not great. The dessert was probably the best part of our dinner and all the desserts that we tried were perfect. The restaurant has a very long list of quality wines. I will recommend this restaurant if you want to have dinner at a special place, but I will not recommend this place if you’re going for the tasting of great food.

Spent my birthday here, we had the 7 course signature menu and what an experience, with these guys Rishav and Edir explaining and assisting us with the menu, it is definitely one of a kind experience. Highly recommended specially with Rishav and Edir.

Since I was staying at the Burj al Arab, it was easy to get a table. An impeccable gastronomic experience. The cuisine was perfect, the atmosphere absolutely charming, elevated by the breathtaking aquarium, and the service truly exceptional. Special mention must be made of Carlos, whose impeccable professionalism and cordiality elevated the evening to an exceptional level.

Overall, it was a really great experience. The food was top-notch, each dish was beautifully plated, and you could tell the chef really cares about the ingredients and flavors. The service was excellent in terms of efficiency. The staff was very knowledgeable, and made sure we had what we neded. That said, the vibe felt a bit mechanical. Everyone was polite and professional, but it didn’t have the warm, personal touch we expected. It felt a little more “service by the book” rather than genuine. Now, here's where things got a little awkward: one of the dishes my wife had just didn’t land for her. She didn’t finish it, but no one ever asked why or if everything was okay with it. It was a bit surprising especially in a place that prides itself on high-end dining. A simple “How’s everything going?” or asking if there was anything wrong with the dish would have gone a long way.

What an amazing experience! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, and you can tell the chef puts his heart into every dish. The staff were so friendly and professional, making us feel special from start to finish. The aquarium view is just breathtaking — it made the whole evening feel magical. Honestly, this was the best meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
