We happened to be in this part of Rome by chance and were looking for a meal to enjoy for lunch. We were friendly welcomed and seated promptly. I’d suggest get a booking because it was packed by the time we left. I had the seafood pasta which was delicious and absolutely loaded with shellfish.

The reviews are all great but I found the place to be just okay. I don't have a complaint, but also nothing stands out as love vs. like. The food was good. The service was good. The place is small and crowded. You must love fish and be prepared to finger your food. Calamari and artichoke was the best item on the menu. Decent prices for the area. I would not eat here again to be honest because there are so many other places to try. But if you are looking for a seafood pasta or seafood dish, definitely try. They also have some standard roman dishes and they are good but not omg. The staff was very kind and friendly.

Best pasta I have ever had in Rome. The atmosphere is just magical. Everyone was also super happy with the service, so gentle and friendly. Huge congratulations! Definitely I would recommend it!

It is really not easy to choose from so many restaurants where to eat delicious pasta and more. Everything was great! A typical Italian restaurant with excellent starters, pasta, fish and desserts. All dishes are really tasty, well-balanced flavors, salt. The pasta with lobster was excellent, the service was sweet and pleasant. I want to come back and recommend to others. Good luck!

A restaurant that was recommended to us by a local — we’re so glad we asked, because we wouldn’t have found it otherwise. Amazing food! The best carbonara we had on the entire trip. Professional staff. A fantastic experience.

Stopped in here mid-day on the first Friday of Lent as was looking for a good fish meal. Saw it recommended on some sites so made the trip. Was not busy when i got there, but picked up. I had the baked cheese and the Turbot. I had never had that fish before and I was very pleased with the recommendation. Very nice waiter as well.

Truly an amazing experience dining here. The food was just incredible and the atmosphere and service was perfect. We did wait a little while for our order to be taken but there was method in their madness and every table was gotten to eventually and the wait was worth it. Very reasonably priced food too and they brought over some things we didn't order. The table next to us recieved a free beer too so it seems random based on the report you have with your waiter. It's a squeeze getting in and it's not a quiet place but that just adds to the atmosphere. We will be back when we are in Rome.

I first visited Mani in Pasta in 2018 and I was so excited to return after many years with my partner as it was excellent when I went the first time. Perhaps I hyped it up too much in my head, because it was SO disappointing this time. Maybe they got a new chef, maybe Mani himself retired, but it was not the same. Downstairs is fluorescent lighting and tables 2” from each other. The atmosphere is terrible. Our server was rude, forgetful, and overall just poor. The only saving grace was the food was pretty good (however the butter & sage ravioli had no flavour). Bread comes out in a paper bag. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella and it came out looking like two hard boiled eggs with a piece of wilted lettuce. It’s actually laughable. No matching cutlery or glasses. This place has gone downhill and it’s sad.

The food was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. We were a group of six with a reservation that had been made weeks prior and we were seated downstairs, in the basement, where the ambiance was pretty much nonexistent. To make matters worse, we were told we could only choose from three types of pasta, from their wide variety, for our entire table, which was disappointing since everyone was looking forward to ordering their own dish. I mean really? We probably would have ended up with only 3-4 different choices anyway but it was a real turn-off to get things started. Despite the limited options, we decided to stay, and while the food itself was enjoyable, the overall experience wasn't one I'd want to repeat.

We at here on our last night in Roma at the reco of someone we met in Italy. We were there when they opened to secure a table. The hosts/waiters at the front door weren't that friendly. Once we got sat at a table, our waiter was fairly friendly but def very busy. Please note that the tables are very very close together and we ended up at a long "family style" table, which I didn't mind, but the table behind us was jammed up against ours and the women sitting there were oblivious to how much room they were taking up. The food was decent--def not anywhere near the best meal we had in Italy. I probably wouldn't go back. The best thing about it was the value for the money.

Outstanding in every way . The carpaccio sea bass appetizer was the best! Fantastico! Molto bene . Spaghetti with seafood was amazing . Service was super friendly .

We had a lovely lunch in this small cozy cafe while watching the chef prepare the meals. This place is favored by locals, and we were told reservations are needed for dinner.

Dinner at Le Mani in Pasta was my favorite meal in Rome! The waiters were funny and friendly and the pasta was divine. We were given a small complimentary serving of a seafood pasta (5/5!) and we ordered some oysters to start (3/5) and the linguine with lobster to share (5/5, ate every bite). We ended the evening with lemon sorbet that had fresh fruit at the bottom.

We came to this restaurant in Trastevere for lunch. Definitely recommend making a reservation in advanced as they get super busy and literally have a line of people waiting out the door for a table at peak lunch time. There were many locals there and it almost seemed like every single one of them were friends with or somehow knew the chef and servers as they all kept coming by to say hi to the chef in the kitchen. We sat at a table in the back of the restaurant close to the kitchen so we watch all of this friendly traffic and commotion in action. We had the pasta arrabbiata which was absolutely delicious and had a nice kick from the chili peppers. This was the third out of the 4 Roman pastas that I wanted to try and it was my favorite by far. We also got the whole fish grilled to share and I swear they must have thought we were starving (or saw $$$ signs in our tourist faces) since they brought us out the largest fish they had in their kitchen. This fish was no joke, it was literally the size of the table. We were a bit startled at first but the fish was cooked so well that we had no problem devouring the whole thing. Service was rocky from the start especially since we got there early for our reservation and this was not taken well by our server (apparently being early or even punctual is frowned upon around here). He was rather abrupt, not very cordial from the beginning and came off as kind of rude, but eventually he did warm up a bit (perhaps when he realized that we were ordering several bottles of wine and the largest fish they had). It's sometimes difficult to let things go, I know, but here I feel like you just have to not take their sort of crass attitude too personally, let it slide and enjoy the delicious food they serve. Except for our expensive fish (it's paid by the kilo), the prices were pretty reasonable.

It doesn't look like much walking in, but while waiting for a table, guests leaving the restaurant raved about how good the food was, so we were excited! We were quickly seated and served drinks and food in a cheerful, polite manner. My partner and I shared the spaghetti with clams, mussels, and squid. Amazing portion and taste. 11/10!

Amazing dinner at Le Mani. Make reservations because they get busy. It is visited by locals, which speaks volumes of the food. Everything thing was delicious, and the service was top notch.

We were able to snag a table on a Sunday night without a reservation. We sat in the basement, but I went there for the food and it was amazing!!! We only chose one dish and then let the waiter recommend. It was a great way to dine in Trastevere!!

Everything was amazing and the service was fantastic! Each pasta dish was better than the next. One of our favorite restaurants we ate at in Rome. Family size portions.

Ok food posing as good. We were encouraged to order a special lobster dish that was covered in celery, tomatoes, and salad dressing,...why? Overhyped and expensive. I overheard a solo diner being almost refused as it was busy and they didnt want to give up a table for one. I was also forced to pay gratuity that was not on my bill but added in before my card was charged. Won't be back. Many restaurants in Italy are now charging a post covid forced gratuity at many restaurants, or sneaking charges in, beware stupid Americans and stop tipping as you have created this problem.

Wow this place gets busy! A couple had reservations and were waiting 40 minutes outside before they got seated. Then they had like 10 other people outside waiting to get seated at 10:45pm when they close at 11:30. Crazy. We didn't have reservations but ended up getting a table for 2 downstairs after about 15-20 minutes. We wee probably there until 1:30am though, so much for closing at 11:30pm! Maybe they just don't take anymore people in at 11:30?! They are definitely small, located in an alley but you can spot it with the queue of people outside. The server was funny - he kept winking at us and making conversation with all the tables. I liked that he made an effort even though his English wasn't great and that he was friendly and joking even at 1:30am! We saw the photos of the seafood lobster spaghetti online and had to get it. It was for a minimum of 2 people so we split it and it was still a huge plate of pasta for each of us! They split it for us in the kitchen! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the seafood and sauce was fantastic! Yum!! It was so good we both cleaned the dish! Literally cleaned it with not a single strand of pasta left! We also got the steak with red wine sauce and truffle. It was tender but the red wine overwhelmed the truffle. You can see the shaved black truffle on top but the flavor is missing with that red wine sauce. We were pretty disappointed cause we both love truffle and wanted to go out with a bang. The desserts were ok. Tiramisu lacked lady fingers and espresso. The profiteroles were good - a bit too sweet with the chocolate sauce but good. Overall, a great experience and a fantastic meal. Get the seafood spaghetti!

Service was basic and minimal, but honestly the food was sub par and would not recommend this place to anyone. Have had better food in almost every place I've eaten in Italy on this trip. The food and wine selection was not great and the menu was very Americanized and unfortunately did not live up to any expectation. Also beware, the restaurant or waiter charged a mandatory service fee which I've never heard of in any Italian restaurant. Never come here

Tourist trap! Menu is basic and pasta was poor quality and the sauce was average. The waiter talked down to us and was aggressive. When we went to pay our bill he added 10% to our check and said it was a mandatory till for his service (you don't tip in Rome).... WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN ROME AND I HAVE LIVED HERE FOR TWO YEARS.

I would give 3 stars because of service, but because their food is SO GOOD, i'm adding another star! Unfortunately, they only had 2 servers, and the restaurant was really busy. Had to wait long before they were able to take our order, and took us a lot of times to ask for our bill afterwards. I also noticed those that had reservations still had to wait, and ask the server several times for their table. BUT... Best. Carbonara. Ever! We went to this place because our airbnb host recommended it to us, and the food did not disappoint. We ordered the Carbonara and the Tomato Basil Ravioli, and both tasted so good. I've tried other restaurant's Carbonara during this trip to Rome, but Le Mani's Carbonara wins for me. The pasta was perfectly al dente, it was creamy and not dry, and the pancetta was just salty enough. The taste was perfect, I would literally nod 'yes' every time I had a forkful. The restaurant's ambiance was also wonderful, I loved the interior - it was very rustic. You could also see the chefs at work inside the kitchen, and that was nice! I suggest not coming here when you are super hungry. Come when you are just about to get hungry, otherwise the wait will piss you off. Will definitely return for the Carbonara!!!

Found this place by chance during our first European trip. Years later, food is still great and we again had a memorable dining experience. Ordered tagliolini with clams/shrimp, grilled fish, side of broccoli (Romanesco broccoli) and semifreddo for dessert. Everything was delicious, the tagliolini in particular. The broccoli was sautéed in garlic and olive oil and a little charred and amazing. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. We had a table in the back where a few glass panels separate the kitchen and the dining room. It was a lot of fun watching the chefs skillfully prep all the pasta. We saw all the food that came out and were literally drooling at everything. Forgot to order the lobster linguine which many ppl rave about. Get a reservation, or you can chance it by coming here right when they open at 7:30pm and pray to be seated. We see them turning guests away later in the evening because they place is often fully booked even on weeknights.

Had a reservation right at their 7:30 pm opening and were seating but were ignored for 30 minutes and we left. All we were given was a menu and the customary bag of bread, no one took our drink orders or introduced themselves. The place was busy right away which is understandable considering its reputation but the waiters were very frantic. Just did not feel welcome by the restaurant and felt they wanted us to leave.

My favorite restaurant in Rome. Enjoyed last night as much as I did 15 years ago! Loud, lively and of course, delicious pasta.

I've know this restaurant for years and it never ever disappointed me. If you're looking for typical Roman cuisine, which is not too heavy and a few more experimental and seasonal options this is the place. The service is an experience in itself, very Roman in a way. Don't expect standard courtesy. The guys can be rather abrupt, but if you keep your humour and play along they'll treat you like a king. Book in advance the place is tiny and always packed.

When in Rome (sorry not sorry), you eat carbonara. I asked around and was told by locals that this was the place to come. We ended up getting in without a reservation, but got there right as they opened for the evening, and it was still not easy to get a table. Dinner started out with complimentary prosecco, and we decided to get the mozzarella, prosciutto, and melon appetizer. I have to say, this was a BEAUTIFUL combination that I wasn't expecting. The fresh mozzarella and prosciutto were complimented perfectly with the freshest, most flavorful melon I have ever had- a perfect appetizer! Then came the star of the evening. I've made carbonara on multiple occasions, but when I had true, Roman carbonara, I was absolutely blown away. The ingredients are so simple, but from great ingredients come a stellar dish. The sauce was packed with so much flavor- salty, savory, bacon-y. It was delicious. The only issue I had with the whole dinner was that the pasta was juuust slightly undercooked. I love pasta al dente, but i was really surprised that it has more than just "a bite" to it. It wasn't that big of a deal, especially in view of that sauce, but just a tad disappointing. But overall if you want a good carbonara, I say this is a great place to get it!

WOW! The food here is delicious. It was very hard just picking items on the menu, as we saw the food that others were ordering. The pasta is made from scratch, and the sauces used were not too heavy. We ordered the fettechini alfredo and a beef dish. The flavors were rich, not heavy, and perfect portions - recommend sharing. You must make a reservation. We did not , and got there right when they opened, and there was a line. Very hard to get a table. Also, pricing is VERY reasonable. This hole in the wall restaurant was one we will remember and recommend.

BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE. I am not being hyperbolic. It truly was. If you want to be treated like a special tourist, with a special menu, and treated with kid gloves in a place, that in my opinion is the most passionate place in the world(Rome) this is not where you should eat. Pick a random restaurant with a sweet little tourist menu where they will take advantage of the fact that you know nothing about how to eat up the culture of a place. If you want a truly Roman experience in every way, come here. YES, they might take locals before you, yes they might make you wait longer, YES, an Italian man might try and scare you away. Think of it as a Roman adventure. And really, WHO CARES!?! You are in Rome, look around you. Buy a beer from a bodega sit on the beautiful little stoop and wait it out. You won't be disappointed. You will earn some Roman street cred if you wait and are granted admission. Once you are inside you are treated like a member of the family. We arrived on a Saturday night with no reservation at 9:00, we were seated by about 9:40. If you are really frightened, then make a reservation. Atmosphere: It is what I picture the Roman festivals of thousands of years ago to look like: Laughter, Volume and Life. We watched as very exclusive looking Romans were escorted to private room downstairs each guest greeted by the lovely Roman man(the same one that tried to scared us away, the same man, that once we were seated said, "Thank you" ) we watched tray after tray of delicious food being served down and back up with completely empty plates. We soaked in the laughter coming from every way around us. We were the only tourists in there(the other couple got scared away) it was bursting with life. Food: You truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I do think that they were a bit behind in the kitchen and dealt with it in the best way possible: They gave us some free food while we waited, two delicious pasta dishes, One of some kind of heavenly pepper/squid pasta that made me ashamed that I thought that I knew what "al dente" actually meant, the other a light shrimp pasta. We ordered the artichoke salad which contained the freshest mushrooms I have ever eaten, the carbonara (I bet you think you know what this should taste like, you are wrong) and the sea bass( melted in my mouth as I ate it). And yes don't worry frightful ones, they did give us an english menu. My only regret was that we did not get dessert. This place gives meaning to the phrase, "When in Rome." So, in my opinion, when in Rome, do indeed do as the Romans and eat here.

They have an attitude problem here, especially towards non-Italians Showed up at reservation time and was made wait while the waiter proceeded to seat all the other Italians who showed up after us. We were the last ones remaining after 40 minutes. Three more Italians show up and this waiter had the balls to pour them courtesy prosecco in front of my wife and I while completely ignoring us. Finally left after he seats them and we are the last ones remaining. Not sure what this guy has against Americans, we are a young, good looking couple who were dressed up for the night. Didn't taste the food, but looking at the other reviews, seems like the place is mediocre anyways. There are so many other restaurants in Rome they have a more welcoming attitude to Americans.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME........ WALK....RUN....CRAWL....What ever it takes.. This is legit. We sat kitchen side and watch the MEASTRO do his magic.. 2 pans... not 1, not 3.... 2 pans and that all he needed.. steak, fish, pasta.... in the pan, on the plate. Artichoke insalata.... BOOM, that was boom goes the fork... Fresh, sweet, FANTASTIC....... First course.. Victoria ordered pasta with seafood, clams, shrimp and prawn.... I, the " Classico Carbonara"...... This lunch was in slow dance with your special person in an cramped dance hall. Yet no toes were stepped and and our hearts were all a flutter. Like your first kiss, with a basket of panne. This is worth the Plane, train, shoe-da-baker..... to get here. You will be rewarded...... When your chef works with the passion that "Stanley" does, it shows in the food. Fresh, hot, incrediably delishish........ A hidden gem....

Go for the Carbonara. It's one of the best I had in Roma. The staff can be a little bit standoffish to tourists, but service was lovely either way. Try to make a reservation if you can! They stay busy. House wine was lovely as well.

We really looked forward to trying this, but had a terrible experience. It started with the waiter telling us that we should be sharing dishes, which sounded like a logical thing until we understood later in the meal that he was actually ordering two of each meal for the four of us, rather than allowing us to each choose what we wanted to eat. He was merely choosing to make his life easier. He had rushed us through the ordering process and it would have been nice to be able try a sampling, like we did at other places. He also added a fat tip for himself, rather than allowing us to choose the amount. After trying many wonderful restaurants in Rome, we felt like this place was over hyped. The food wasn't anything special. We were seated in the basement, which wasn't terrific seating, but was acceptable for how busy the place was.

I hope someone traveling from the U.S reads this beforehand because I would NEVER go back here. While it was listed on every "best pasta" google searches in Rome, I felt the food was completely mediocre compared to other Osterias in the region. Moreover, ALL you will hear is English people here. Would rather be in Little Italy in NYC lol. A million better places to go to around the corner than Le Mani in Pasta. In fact, I'm heading to another restaurant right now (Trattoria da Augusto - look it up!) even though I'm full just so I can replace this meal with something way better.

Epic pasta with shrimp, turbot and tomatoes plus a bottle of wine and sparkling water for $25 euros. Also they give you plate of cacio e pepe as a primi. Excellent ambiance and service. Good mix of locals and tourists.

Our favorite meal in Rome! The pasta was to die for and the ambiance was very authentic and accepting. We made friends with a group of local Italians and the servers gave us limoncello on the house:) Highly recommend this restaurant if you want amazing Italian food!

We couldn't return to Rome and not visit our favorite restaurant, Le Mani in Pasta. 2 years later we were pleased to discover the same staff and they're busier (reservations are necessary). Consistency, in my view, is the most important ingredient for a business. Le Mani in Pasta sets the bar for service and food.

We attempted to eat a Le Mani in Pasta on a Saturday night without a reservation.. I know I know...or at least now I do. We were unaware reservations were required for weekends because prior to that we had no issues just showing up and getting a table. We were told that if we waited a bit they may be able to get us in. I think in total we waited 45 minutes and we went back inside to ask for an update and they said they could not get us in at all. This is a very small restaurant - as soon as you walk in the door you are literally on top of the other guests. We left and found other food for Saturday and called to make a reservation for Sunday. When we called they found someone that could understand our English and set the reservation for 7pm but with 2 hour time maximum. I am not sure if that is common practice in Italy but the service abroad is much slower than in the US we found. Upon arriving we were seated and given a complimentary small glass of Processco which was nice. They also gave us bread which we assumed was free because we did not ask for it but we were charged anyway.We ordered the cacio de pepe which was very nice and a bottle of Processco for 16 Euro to start. I chose the grilled lamb but it was really lacking in flavor. My friend did the steak and it was not cooked properly and did not taste great. I guess we should have known better than to order anything other than pasta with a name like they have. I was not overly impressed but its worth a try if you are in town. Stick to pasta though and make a reservation. Great & very friendly staff though! One of the best we had in Italy.

Bad service! Waiter spent a lot of time with locals, ignored us even though I'm sure he saw us politely waving for attention. Upon leaving, it was extremely hard to get the cheque, get to actually pay it and get the change. (It was obviously too much to be a tip). Sad, since the food was good.

Food is amazing. The pasta courses were all fantastic. And the service was warm and friendly. Great atmosphere and every dish that comes out looks mouth watering.

Lovely little pasta vendor. You can watch them making the pasta from scratch through a little window! Buy the pasta in packages to cook yourself or buy a meal to eat there. Perfect little spot!

Beautiful setting. Lovely attentive staff. Delicious and simple locally grown and harvested food. Everything we ate and drank was from local establishments, nothing outsourced. Who needs Michelin stars when you have this. Coming from Chicago where fabulous food is abundant, this was perfecto!

It can be difficult to get into this place, but worth the wait! The sea bass was amazing and cooked to perfection. Cool area and nice to get away from the tourist trap restaurants.

We like only one meal out of 3 orders of us. The place is so nice, the service was very good however the meal was average. Try cecco e pepe.

After failing at trying to grab a table at Da Enzo, we walked over here and called to see if they had an open table. We walked in when they opened and grabbed a seat for two. Restaurant is cramped but felt very fancy. Our waiters were awesome. Very friendly and personable. They served a glass of champagne once guests are seated. Bread and their special flat breads (more like sheets of crackers) are served. We were told to order the special lobster spaghetti, which probably felt like an up sell from the staff. For appetizers were ordered the sautéed clams and mussels to start. The portion was VERY generous. HUGE almost. Same with the lobster spaghetti. HUGE portion. We shared everything and did not manage to make a dent. The mussels and clams were great. Very tasty and fresh. The lobster spaghetti was a bit oily and perhaps the shelled lobsters made the pasta taste too "seafood-y". I'd have to try other dishes in order to recommend this restaurant. For those who do not know the language: Waiters know/speak English.

Non sono italiano, e quindi scrivo in inglese... ma secondo me questo ristorante è buonissimo per i turisti e romani equamente. This was a recommendation from the owner of our apartment in Rome and it didn't let us down. We got to Trastevere around midday to make reservations in person for that evening. Lesson one: make reservations at least a day ahead or more; they didn't have anything in the main floor open for that night. They did offer us a space downstairs in the smoking area, but we were skeptical. We decided to catch lunch instead, and it was incredible. I can speak decent Italian, and I think that that made a difference, we were able to joke with the waiters and had the chance to ask for suggestions. The seabass carpaccio was incredible, the carbonara was the best I've ever had. We found the Duvel blonde to be surprisingly delicious with Italian food. It was so good, in fact, that we decided to come back for dinner even though they only had space downstairs. Let me first say that IF YOU DON'T LIKE CIGARETTE SMOKE, DON'T GET A SPACE IN THE SMOKING AREA. It seems obvious, but there are idiots on Yelp who take such a space, then complain about it. People smoke during dinner in Italy, and if they're in a smoking area, they are totally allowed to do it. It can bother people, and by the end of the night it was definitely pretty thick... ...but our meal more than made up for it. Amazing desserts, wonderful amaro, great service, and traditional, fun, teasing Italian waiters. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Incredible restaurant. Best ever in Roma. I recommend having reservations before going, but they did accommodate us. The service was also amazing and great recommendations by the staff. The surrounding neighborhood is also enchanting and inviting. Don't miss Le Mani Pasta when in Rome!!

Excellent service and meal. Highly recommend this restaurant. My first course was a carpaccio with shaved truffles, followed by perfectly prepared sage and butter raviolis, a modest cheese plate and the house steak which was exquisite!

Reserved a table for 3 at opening but only showed up with one other person. The manager didn't seem happy about that initially so I felt bad and wasn't expecting great service. I was pleasantly surprised: our waitress was nice and stopped by just enough to make sure everything was going well. We ordered the steamed mussels, class, shrimps and octopus as an appetizer. It was a very generous portion. They used some chilis in the white wine sauce which added some kick. Honestly, could have drank that broth as soup, it was that good. But you could also tell the seafood was very fresh. They didn't begin cooking our entrees until we had finished our seafood. The filet with green peppers was a little overdone but the red wine sauce was great to sop up with the meat. The rigatoni amatriciana was so savory and creamy, probably the best dish I had in Italy thus far. Prices were more than reasonable for the quality of the food. Had to thank the manager for being understanding about the incorrect reservation. Be aware the dining space is pretty small, but they definitely make you feel at home. This is a concierge's favorite and the staff has had enough of the tourist crowds. You get old bread and hastily prepared food with a side of attitude. Wander a little more and find someplace not as popular on Yelp. You will likely get a better meal. We stopped taking our hotel's recommendations and started eating better.
