Lineadombra

"Boasting a splendid location with an outdoor dining space on a kind of raft-cum-platform, this restaurant boasts one of the most delightful views in Venice, with the Giudecca on the opposite side of the canal. Contemporary cuisine with a focus on fish and the occasional creative twist." - Michelin Inspector

We had a phenomenal dinner here!! It was the last night of our honeymoon so we wanted to close things out on a high note and that’s exactly what we got. We had the scallops to start with, the red turnip gnocchi with ‘cardoncello’ mushrooms, and the salt baked sea bass. All were wonderful!!

After spending a full day in Venice with plenty of tourists and Crowds, it was so delightful to go right across the grand Canal to an absolutely fantastic restaurant. As it’s mostly residential on that side, it was lovely quiet. The staff could not have been more accommodating, the food was outstanding. The service also could not be any better. We had originally booked a table out on the terrace, but it unfortunately was very cold and windy, and they gave us inside overlooking the water and happily refunded the extra money that we paid for the table Right on the water on the terrace. Everything was perfect, perfectly prepared beautifully plated an expertly presented as we shared every dish. The price was extremely reasonable, including must have blood orange Campari Cocktail. They had wonderful jazz music quietly playing in the background and overall was just a phenomenal experience.

This restaurant offers outstanding food and service, paired with an authentic and breathtaking sunset view. The atmosphere was serene and beautifully local. We tried the catch of the day, which was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared—highly recommended. A truly memorable dining experience from start to finish.

It was a great experience! Amazing food and spectacular place. Away from the big crowds. Very special!

Google
Elevated dishes, a heavy hitting wine menu and a balanced service make this restaurant a compelling option for a special evening. The terrace is definitely the place to be and offer scenic views over the canal. Food was generous in size and almost perfectly seasoned. Pre-heated plates, fresh cutlery for each course and good timing by the staff are just some of the details that make it more special. I just wished the bread was warm when they served it, but nonetheless, it was delicious.

This is a fantastic restaurant. The food was very nice and they have a very extensive (and expensive) wine selection. The location and the views are amazing.

Google
Went a visited for the first time on Monday evening, was welcomed and showed to our table very quickly and felt very comfortable. You know you’re in the right place when you walk past the massive selection of wine and liquor. I tried to scallops for starters, and they were absolutely delicious then for main course I shared the salt baked covered fish, it was so tender and meaty! For dessert I went for the tiramisu with a twist. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to try delicious food and great Italian wine!

Google
Very nice location with a wonderful view of the channel especially in sunny weather. The food is fantastic with a great variety of local food. The selection of wine is huge and could be a bit overwhelming but the very kind staff is there to help. The service was great and all recommendations they made were spot on. Please note that the place is great and therefore busy, so a reservation most probably will be required.

Yelp
Best view in Venice! Every seat has a fabulous view! 5 stars for the ambiance! Food- amuse bouche was a pea purée soup with white cod. Appetizers were scallops with mussels and cannellini beans and the burrata with artichoke heart. Main entrees were the charcoal ravioli stuffed with Ricotta, fusilli with peas, mullet and kefir. Delicious meal - 5 stars Service was 3 stars. They were very slow, we ordered Prosecco in the beginning and it took over 20 minutes to get any drink!

Yelp
Brilliant food, great front of house, and a beautiful view! We visited during lunch at high noon, watching the boats come in while eating fresh seafood was an experience you should also try.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner here on our last night in Venice during Carnavale. Michelin-rated, highly recommended by Rick Steve's as a special dining experience, and it lived up to our expectations. Great location and views, right on the canal, and would have been out on the floating terrace if the weather was nice, but it was very chilly, so grateful to have a table upstairs, indoors for the 9 of us. We started with cocktails, which were all excellent - spritz, Negroni, Prosecco, Bellini, even Gin & Tonic (so much better than your average G&T), but best was the Hugo - Prosecco and seltzer with some sort of spirit (Sambucca? Elderflower liqueur and/or gin?) garnished with crunchy little red currants and mint - wow! Will definitely be trying this at home. Service was superb throughout. They brought us a lovely amuse bouche of pumpkin purée w/ cod, then we had a primi of artichoke heart topped w/ burrata - amazing, a secondi of their famous seafood soup, which was out of this world, then main special of the day - pasta w/ lobster - very good, but honestly, the seafood soup blew it away. We opted for a nice bottle of dessert wine, instead of dessert, and it was the perfect end to the meal. Would absolutely recommend and would love to return!

Yelp
4.800 stars. One of the best meals we had on our trip to Italy. The restaurant dining area is on a dock/pier overlooking the water with a fantastic view across the canal. The pasta was Al dente perfection, we had the salted sea bass (an Amalfian specialty) and it was the freshest, most tasty seafood dish we had on the trip. Pastas were al dente and sauces balanced. Glorious!

Yelp
Honestly I think it was overly hyped. The food was very "creative" but not very delicious. The view was pretty but honestly unless you come before dark you can't see anything. The service was excellent but it was the only place in all of Italy that made us feel like we HAD to tip them.

Yelp
Great food, great service and a perfect fist night in Italy. Amazing... we would come back anytime!

Yelp
We enjoyed dinner here on our first night in Italy. What a great choice! The courses just kept getting better. We enjoyed every bite that was given. The service was amazing. Worth spending the extra money for the reserved waterfront view. I would definitely return, just for the codfish!! Pricey yes, the quality of food and service is worth it.

Yelp
First this place has a beautiful deck with gorgeous views! If you want to have a nice meal with water views- this is it! However, the inside is also a beautiful restaurant too. The attention to detail- food, service and ambiance are all outstanding! We loved the Sea Bass and shared it, the 2 of us and were stuffed. The preparation is impressive!!

Yelp
My husband and I had an amazing meal here. Our table was on the patio, we had a great view of the water and sunset, ambiance is very intimate and romantic. Our dinner was great but be prepared to spend quite a bit. We had the trio of tartare and the salt covered fish for two, both were very good. Service was also great.

Yelp
This was a lovely location and the food was well prepared but I felt rooked. We ordered the fish at market price $10/100 grams - please be aware they insisted we order 2 portions when we really only wanted one entree and told our waiter we were not hungry. When the bill came the total was 90 euros for our two modest 2 servings of fish. This one entree was more than our 2 other plates and bottle of wine. Supposedly it was 900 grams but I doubt that - that would be almost a pound per person. It also was nothing special moist but kind of bland. We should have asked for an estimate before ordering but in my opinion had they offered an entree of sea bass for $45 euros each we would not have ordered it. The most expensive entree was $32 euros so that felt out of line with the other items. Getting the bill felt like a very disappointing end to a lovely dinner that was 2 times as expensive as any dinner we had over 12 days in Italy.

Yelp
Such an unbelievable magical romantic place. A Martini and the must have burrata began our amazing food journey followed by a bottle of 2013 Ca'Rugate Amarone Della Valpilicella and the lobster pasta special, while my girlfriend who found this gem had the pasta with prawns, both which were delicious. We then had the fresh fish special of the day which was filet of sea bass cooked in salt...you couldn't even see it covered in salt when they showed it and not only was it delicious but, believe it or not, did not taste like salt. Finally tiramisu and a caffe (if you don't know what a caffe is by the time you get here Americans...look it up please) topped off one of the most delightful meals we have ever tasted.

Yelp
We stopped at this beautiful spot for lunch, it was fantastic. The views on the water are exceptional. The wine was perfect and the food was delicious. We had the pasta and scorpion fish with lemon it was a delight to the taste buds.

Yelp
Amazing view and very good service. The starter with artichoke, buffalo mozzarella, olive oil and truffles was best ever! We had the special fish of day which was sea bass that is covered with olive oil and salt then baked in oven. Incredibly good! Very romantic and away from the crazy busy tourism chaos over by Piazza San Marco. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Beautiful view and great service from the staff. The food was pricey but not ridiculous all things considered. I would rate the food as above average, but don't expect a mind blowing meal. You are primarily paying for the views and vibe here - not the food.

Yelp
Not only was it the best meal we had for our week in Venice, it has an upscale high-quality interior, and excellent service. Even walking to the restaurant was wonderful, along the Canal de Guidecca at night. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Beautiful view on the water with outdoor terrace seating, must call to reserve. Food was not impressive to the tastebuds and overpriced. You are paying for the view not the food.

Yelp
Worst and most expensive meal we ate in Venice. Do not recommend. View was great but that was it.

Yelp
Simply Elegant and Serene! Tucked on a quiet area of Dursoduro overlooking the water just on the opposite side of the Grand Canal. Sit on the terrace and relax... enjoy the peacefulness of the evening as you watch the sunset with a glass of wine prior to dinner. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic dinner... this is the place! The service is First Class all the way! Polite, Attentive and Helpful! They even provided me with a holder for my purse. Their wine list is VERY extensive. It's a HUGE book of wines from all over the world. Unless you know exactly what you want, I'd suggest just asking for suggestions after you've ordered so they can give you pairing recommendations. The food is FRESH and top quality. The presentation is artfully displayed. Anything on the menu is fabulous... they specialize in fresh fish and seafood. They bring the fish and seafood available for the day out on a platter for presentation and selection. It's so fresh that the lobster was still moving. Our fish was perfectly prepared... along with roasted scallop potatoes and tomatoes. Overall, this was the nicest meal we enjoyed in Italy. The Ambiance, The Food, The Service, The Wine.... it was a wonderful evening and one I will not forget. Note: They are closed on Tuesday. Recommendations Recommended.

Yelp
We were recommended to try this place for diner. Have your hotel make reservations for you after 8 pm on the water terrace. Views are wonderful. One of the best meals we had in Italy. They do take credit cards including American Express. Primarily a fish restaurant with an exceptional wine list. Enjoyed the restaurant very much

Yelp
Food is mediocre at best, not nearly on par with the price charged. Very bland. I would have been disappointed if it had been 1/2 the price but the 100 euros per person without wine price tag makes it feel like a joke and a tourist nightmare. The view is absolutely amazing though and I assume that is the draw. Well, I also suspect that the hotel concierges get a kickback for sending their customers here, there's no way that they are recommending this restaurant for the food. Blah. Expensive blah!

Yelp
As expensive as this place is, we were expecting something exquisite and delicious. We were highly disappointed with a majority of our meals in Venice and this continued as we dined here. The staff was incredible, so it hurts to write this review, but the food was awfully fishy and mediocre at best. I do not like fish and had a lot of trouble finding something on the menu to order. The waiter was kind enough to offer me a breaded (and obviously cooked) chicken breast as my meal. It was okay... I was expecting better and was expecting maybe a pasta dish to come on the side. I was surprised that there were hardly any traditional Italian dishes on the menu... all I wanted was some good lasagna! The appetizer was an array of just purely fish, and my family LOVES fish, but it smelt as though it were literally taken from the sea and put on a plate. (the eyeballs were still in the fish and that just grosses me out!!!) We were recommended to eat here by a local restaurant owner who couldn't fit us at his place; however, we began to realize that he recommended us this place just because it was far away from his place and did not want us eating at the surrounding (competing) restaurants. Everything was incredibely expensive and it hurt to pay for something so disappointing. The ambience was fantastic and the service was amazing, but the price point was extremely high for mediocre food.

Yelp
This restaurant has offered us the best service in a restaurant since we arrived in Italy almost a week ago. There was not a table ready when we arrived so the host graciously told us it will be a short wait and personally brought us inside to the bar area and offered us prosecco on the house. Once the table was ready he came to get us and bring us to a lovely dinner right on the water. They have a large wine list so we needed some help and one of the waiters had incredible knowledge in the department and was able to recommend us a wine we were looking for. The food is so fresh and unique and was a new experience for us. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around in the rain looking for lunch and it was one of our most memorable meals in Venice. The service was warm and friendly and the food was even better. First, the bread basket was so good! Lots of variety of both bread and bread sticks. For a starter, we shared the burrata with truffles and I'm still dreaming about it! Lastly, I had the turbot and my husband had a liver dish (veal, I believe). Everything was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Contemporary restaurant in residential neighborhood. Amazing seafood-octopus and fish of the day (we had the branzino). A nice change of pace from the regular pasta.

Yelp
Super chic, awesome view right on the water (we knew we would love it because my brother noticed the bartender wearing a Pacha shirt upon arrival - and sure enough, it was one of our favorites). AMAZING fish (octopus, raw sampler appetizer - think a MUCH better version of sushi, monk fish, prawns, burratta with bottarga, so many new flavors) Also, not cheap - out of the highly touristy area around St Marks, in Dosodouro (a much cuter, more neighborhoody part of the city).

Yelp
Our favorite upscale meal during our visit to Venice! First, the location of the restaurant was fantastic - overlooking the canal in a quiet residential neighborhood. Second, the atmosphere was chic but still maintained a sense of Italian warmth and friendliness. Third, the service was impeccable and our sommelier was top notch (the restaurant's received several Wine Spectator awards and the recommendations did not disappoint). Finally, but certainly not least, the food was excellent! It was modern Italian food, prepared with the freshest ingredients. Everything we ate was fantastic, and the burrata with truffle will not be forgotten...

Yelp
Pretentious and over-priced !! So far, one of the most unpleasant gastronomic experiences of my entire life. The service was mediocre , the food was average. The wine arrived after the amuse-bouche. We ordered pasta with lobster: it was overcooked and insipid. We told the waiters we were unhappy with it and their answer was that that kind of pasta (thick spaghetti called "tonnarelli") was supposed to be flabby (!!!) - my wife is Italian, I had hand made tonnarelli so many times and they were always served "al dente", not flabby at all. We also had a fish course: it was average. Dessert was the best dish of our meal, compared to the rest, but honestly nothing memorable. The wine was good, but it does not justify the price of 206€ we payed for a shared starter, 2 main dishes and 2 desserts. The only effort they made to please us after our complaints was offering a free glass of limoncello (really!?). There are so many other restaurants in Venice which serve much better food for a lower price and better treatment.

Yelp
Such a lovely place. We were here 2 years ago after seeing the art exhibit Marvelous then and still marvelous today. Pricey but worth every penny. The view, the food, the service: all first class. Not to be missed

Paulina A.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended with high regard by another Michelin rated establishment in Venice. So we went ... First of all, we had an stray cat who the restaurant called Giorgio, tried to get on our chairs and would not stop bothering the patrons. It is an outdoor terrace so it is understandable that you may encounter the occasional wildlife. At the beginning it was cute then it became disgusting that the waiters where carrying the cat away and then serving our food with the same set of hands. As the dinner progresses, the patron behind us threw up 3 times on his dinner plate and the severs continued to served him wine. When we asked to speak with the manager, there was nobody on site. As a courtesy to us, they offered us an after dinner drink ... Really!!! So, like so many places with a great view, the view is the best part of the experience. The food is just ok and it is expensive. Maybe go for a drink, see the view, and pet the cat. But eat here at your own risk! Have a great time in Venice!
