Roof Garden Restaurant 8° piano Hotel Excelsior San Marco

Absolutely superb evening. The service was immaculate, super attentive and friendly, the food was the best meal I’ve had in a while, exquisite. We sat on the terrace with a brilliant view of Bergamo citta alta as the sun set. Couldn’t have asked for a better meal, grazie Mille

Good food, great view, friendly and professional staff. The restaurant has an unbeatable view of Bergamo restaurant. We tried their east Lombardy taste menu and other dishes. Every of them is yummy. Their service is impeccable and we felt welcomed. We visited on Christmas Eve so they also offered “Panettone”.

Really enjoyed my dinner! Got a table with short notice and the staff at the restaurant was kind and professional. I ordered the East Lombardy menu and really liked it, especially the "Bergamo" fish was mouth-watering! I was pleasantly surprised that they had a nice 1/2 wine servings. And the final bill was actually lower than I expected for this level of fine-dining. Oh, and the views of old town are magnificent from the entire restaurant. Overall, fantastic dinner experience 👌

“beautifully average fancy place” The location is pretty! :) We tried 2 of their tasting menus. Service is nice (nothing unexpected at this price point) , food was OK (but not outstanding), quite heavy and big portions (answer yourself if that’s good or bad). What I didn’t like (also probably what makes this place average in my eyes ) are those -hotel vibes-. The whole concept just wasn’t fresh enough ( talking about tastes and ideas ). I had a feeling that I already tried everything before, what again is not a bad thing but you’re visiting places like this to experience something new. I was also missing some little, personal touches to remember. (Surprise course, small talk with the service or explanation of what we’re actually tasting ) That kind of “love energy” we all love about Italian gastronomy.. and I think should be a must at such a place. Overall it wasn’t bad. We had a nice time in “roof garden” but I would not go again.

Beautiful setting, excellent service. Whilst other guests’ dishes were lovely I ordered the vegan starter and main which were disappointing. The starter lacked taste and d the main dish was dry and dull to eat. The quinoa croquettes were ok but without little else on the plate did not offer enough variety for me.

The restaurant offers a very beautiful view over the city of Bergamo. Especially in the evening, it offers you the chance to marvel at a great sunset. You shouldn't go here if you just want to eat something, this is a restaurant where you should deal with every course with culinary delights. The food is very tasty and definitely (even if you may not think so) its high price value. The staff welcomes you warmly and is the perfect crowning glory for a pleasant stay. I can only recommend it.

When you stand in front of the rather run-down façade of the Excelsior, you wouldn't think that there is such a well-designed, elegant restaurant up there on the roof. Beautifully situated with a view of the beautiful old town from inside and even better from the terrace. The service is gallant and fast. Only the food can't really keep up. Some of the combinations are off: why is a wholemeal croissant served with an amuse-bouche (small vitello tonato) in the evening? Main dish: The veal cheek is excellently tender but lies on a dried polenta (already put on the plates in the afternoon?) and under a thick, meaningless sauce. Too bad, but can certainly be improved.

Probably the best view of the old city in town. Great food and wine and the staff is very friendly and professional. I wanted local cheese that was not on the menu and they kindly brought 3 different kinds. Delicious !!! Wine by glass is very reasonable and tasty. Foods a bit pricy but seen the location and the service it was worth it! Grazie mille
