Charming Breakfast and Exceptional Service at Ristorante Trattoria Toscana al Vecchio Forno: During our stay in the beautiful medieval village of San Quirico d’Orcia, we had a memorable breakfast at Ristorante Trattoria Toscana al Vecchio Forno, part of the Borgo Capitano Collection. The rustic charm of the restaurant, nestled within the historic village streets, provided the perfect start to our day. What made the experience truly special was our incredible server. He welcomed us warmly and guided us through the breakfast menu with genuine care and enthusiasm. Every recommendation he made—was thoughtful and on point. When we asked about local wineries, he went above and beyond, offering excellent suggestions tailored to our tastes, which helped us plan a wonderful wine-tasting afternoon. This blend of heartfelt hospitality, local expertise, and delicious food made for one of the best experiences of our trip. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area!

I am so grateful to our wine tasting host at Sasso di Sole winery, for recommending this restaurant for our lunch outing one day while we were staying in the area. Goes to show you if you know where to go, or know someone who knows, you can really hit a home run. Everything about Trattoria Toscana al Vecchio Forno was authentic, elegant, cultural and delicious! Loved it all so much! We went after any potential "lunch rush", at about 2:30pm and it was quiet with a small number of tables of guests. It was mid week (actually, it was exactly June 11, 2025). The food was Italian with a touch of elegant fusion. So good! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable experience!!

We had high hopes for this Italian spot, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The pasta was noticeably undercooked and lacked flavor — it really needed more seasoning, especially salt. For a small-town restaurant, the prices felt steep given the portion sizes and quality. That said, the vibe was really nice — cozy and stylish — and the service was friendly and attentive. It’s a shame the kitchen didn’t deliver, because the atmosphere and staff deserved better food to match.

Excellent restaurant with typical Tuscan fare. The seating area is very nice if a bit crowded. Staff were efficient and typically Italian, meaning friendly but don't speak much English. Food was excellent. Good selection of wine, a few desserts. Price for everything was higher than average.

Might be best restaurant of our trip, absolutely incredible atmosphere and food. Food highlights were the duck and the paccheri pasta - both unique and extremely well done. The pear baked in wine also exceptional. Atmosphere is we sat in the courtyard next to the turtles - nothing like watching them trudge around, snack on their lettuce, with a lizard or two for company. On the way out my wife was asking about it and the backstory is when clearing the land (30 yrs ago) they found a massive old turtle who has been with them ever since. Only a year or two ago she had some babies (the turtles you see) and then passed away at ripe age of well past 100 years. Absolutely magical place, cannot recommend enough - try to sit next to the turtle area.

6 stars for family friendliness. There is separate corner with living turtles for families. Kids are quiet and busy observing turtles so you can relax as a parent while waiting for delicious food. All service is super nice and looks joyful. We tried 6 different dishes and they where good, very good or absolutely delicious (chocolatte soufflé).

Amazing food in a rustic (rustic in a good way!) Italian village. Food was excellent - especially the truffle menu! Service was too notch as well. This was one of our favorite places to eat in all of Italy. Looking forward to going back!

Tourist trap. The food and the service were mediocre....bordering on poor in comparison to many other wonderful meals we had in Tuscany, including in this charming village. I could tell as soon as I walked in to this restaurant that we'd been misled by all the glowing Yelp reviews. My Mom's salad looked like it came from a cafeteria, and the pork dish she ordered was just awful. The meat practically looked boiled, so unappetizing. My eggplant appetizer was slimy pile of goop topped with cheese and the cream sauce on my pasta had a slightly gritty consistency.

Excellent dinner with family, so excited about food. Hope we could check this out again

We had dinner here with friends while visiting Tuscany. The owner Roberto is wonderful and the food is fantastic classic Tuscan.

Really enjoyed dinner here. They serve gluten-free pasta which I went for with the ragu sauce and it tasted great!

We discovered this restaurant by smell. I was returning to our parked car as we had an hour limit. Took a short cut passing the back of the kitchen. Could not resist. We looked at the menu before they opened and decided we would return one evening to try it. The staff was still being served the family meal which itself looked good. We made a quick decision to swing by Bagni Vignoni for a quick look and return for pranzo. So glad we did. We started with beef carpaccio with Gorgonzola and sautéed mushrooms. Excellent! Our Primi was Pasta with pistachio, leeks and crunchy ham. Incredibly unique. For a contorni we had cipollini agridolce - tiny sweet and sour baked onions. Don't think French Onion soup will ever live up to this combination. To top it off we had piping hot chocolate soufflé with a little red pepper, and gently heated chopped orange and pear pieces to accompany. We have had many great meals in over the 30 years we traveled in Italy but we could not recall a better one. We hope to return in a few days for cena.
