Veneziano

"Situated just outside Randazzo, one of the villages with typical lava-stone buildings dotted around Mt Etna, this restaurant serves excellent local cuisine. Recipes featuring mushrooms and meat take pride of place on the menu, from antipasti such as the excellent mixed mushrooms to first courses of mushroom soup and mains that include a highly recommended “asado” (mixed grill) and an unmissable Nero dei Nebrodi capocollo ham." - Michelin Inspector

A lovely place a little off the beaten track but worth the visit for lunch. The meat here is of high quality (indeed the local town as a reputation for this) and there was emphasis on local ingredients, with mushrooms in the spotlight alongside the spectacular meat dishes. My partner ordered Ravioli ripieni di Speck e Patate al Pistacchio, which was opulent with a cream that begged to be cleaned up with bread. The wine selection is great; dessert is made from a place down the road and is clearly of high quality. Top tip: There is a quaint garden with a swing big enough for two under an ancient olive tree just outside the front of the restaurant. Not a bad place to digest after overindulging!

I ordered the chef’s selection of delights to start, which I thought would be a few beautifully made things but it was a plate of cheese ham and some salad bits. I had eaten most of it complaining that the chef had not had to work very hard. But then came a caponata, a cheese fondu thing and two other dishes that filled half of the table! All the main courses were steak or horse. So I had ordered Pasta alla Norma for my main. Which was a big mistake as I was already full and had eaten lots of aubergine already. The wine however was excellent!

Absolutely sublime worth the detour. So classy and the food excellent especially for the price.its the best meal we had in Sicily period.

We were staying at a hotel nearby, and planned to go to this restaurant one day for lunch. We ended up going 3 days in a row! The food is absolutely amazing, and is high on the price / quality equation. We absolutely loved the mushroom appetizer and the fried pumpkin flowers. I am allergic to gluten and the chef had no problem with making last-minute adjustments to the dishes so that I could have them. We cannot say enough amazing things about the food and the staff!

Menu offers specialties and loved that their menu was short. Their specialties are quite good. The ravioli pasta filled with potato on a a pistachio sauce was creamy and full filling. Smooth and tasty. Impecable service. We were visiting the region and Francesco recommended us places to visit and restaurants. Place is gorgeous and lovely. Good to know that they are open on Tuesdays since many restaurants are closed on that day.

Stopped here for lunch and were overwhelmed by the quality of the food. The steak tartare with currants and the spaghetti porcini were og exceptional quality and this place truly serves up some magnificent food. The house wine was really good as well. Service was friendly but a bit whimsical and they lose top marks for adding hidden costs to the bill and overcharging us for the antipasti. Hope they get a bit more organised and they could well become one of the best places to eat in sicily.

Very nice restaurant. Dishes made with local fresh products, delicious mushroom dishes. Only thing is the price is a bit high for the same quality in Etna area.

Yelp
I didn't think there were many food options on the menu, but that was my fault for not looking at the menu ahead of time. What I did order was alright enough. The restaurant was pretty empty, but everyone was nice. It was $50 for a soup, a pasta with mushrooms, and a pear mousse. Not that $50 is crazy for what I was told would be "fine dining," but it just felt more like a $30 meal. I left feeling underwhelmed. BUT, it was the only thing open nearby at that time, and the parking lot was giant, which was a treat after driving in Randazzo, so that's why I'm giving it four stars. There's no seafood, just meat and mushrooms. Honestly, I want to give it three stars but judging by the other reviews and local friends' opinions it seems maybe I'm just a spoiled American used to more choices. It's open and it has parking. 4 stars.

Yelp
It had a mention by Michelin in 2019 and there is a good reason it hasn't been mentioned since. We had the fried vegetables as an appetizer; only half of them were warm. We complained to the waiter but he ignored us. We had the two eggplant pasta dishes but they were inedible. One member of our party had a glass of red wine (her only glass) and promptly threw up. (Note: this is the Veneziano on C.da Arena Randazzo SS-120.)

Yelp
We happened upon this charming spot today after leaving Randazzo en route to Giardini Naxos. Lunch for two included a vast assortment of local mushrooms prepared eight ways, with delicious hard cheese, Zuppa de fungi and a wonderful pasta with roasted cherry tomatoes and thinly sliced almonds. A glass of Messina red cut the richness of the multitude of mushrooms. What a delightful way to spend our last afternoon in Sicily. Did I mention that the service was impeccable?
