We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions over the past five years but this was definitely the best meal to date. Even before we had our starters we got a tasty chickpea amuse bouche, bread sticks and some delicious black olive baguettes and tomato focaccia bread with tapenade, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We both chose the octopus salad for our starters - the octopus was so moist and beautifully cooked. For mains I had the turbot and my husband the sea bass accompanied by a side of seasonal vegetables- again presented with care, well seasoned and so tasty. The Portuguese wine we chose to accompany the meal, although not the most expensive, was perfect with it. For desserts I had the yuzu mousse and my husband the red berry tartlet. Again both delicious. To finish petit fours were served with our tea and coffee. A perfect meal. The restaurant was busy by the middle of the evening so the only slight criticism I would have was that it took time to attract the attention of waiters to have our water and wine served but the staff were very courteous.

While the staff’s service was exceptional—attentive and professional—the food was a major disappointment. The portion sizes were unreasonably small for the prices charged. For instance, a €12 bruschetta was tiny, and the pasta I ordered was not only small but also bland and tasteless. Italian food is meant to be hearty and satisfying, but this was far from it. Although the service was outstanding, the food, which is the main reason to visit a restaurant, fell well short of expectations. A disappointing experience overall.

We have dined here many times over the last twenty or so years. It has formal feel to the restaurant though the staff are extremely friendly & make you feel relaxed. The food is excellent though we lost two of our favourite dishes when the menu was revamped a while ago. Both the Venetian Crab & the Rack of Lamb are sorely missed ☹️. We would definitely recommend an evening here, especially in the summer/autumn when the outside terrace is in use.

The restaurant has a fantastic position, overlooking the sea. It is really nice to eat outside in the evening. The service is very professional with good attention to customers, nothing unexpected for a restaurant inside a Belmond property. The restaurant offers a good Italian menu, dishes are well prepared, presented and of a good quality.

My family stayed at the hotel and we were able to walk in promptly at 7 P.M. and dine in. If you’re not staying at the hotel, please keep in mind that the restaurant prioritizes hotel guests from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M., so plan ahead and make a reservation a few days in advance. The restaurant is gorgeous and offers breathtaking views of the island. However, in my honest opinion, the food was underwhelming. Out of all the dishes my family tried, the gluten-free bolognese spaghetti was surprisingly the best. The chocolate dessert was just okay, but the mango and passion fruit panna cotta was amazing. The complimentary bread selection was great, with many delicious options to choose from. The service was top-notch. Overall, it's a decent Italian spot in Madeira.

I would suggest visiting for lunch or before the sun goes down. Food was nothing special and i truly mean that. Prices do not reflect on the quality of the food and most definitely not on the ambience.

Yelp
If i could give the FOOD here 0 stars i would... even though our meal was basically inedible the service provided by the servers was immaculate, i very much appreciated their hospitality... Below is everything that we ordered for the table along with what i would rate it They firstly come around with a basket of bread with a variety of flavors, they weren't the best nor worse bread I've had it was fine. Secondly they came around with a complimentary "chorizo & some sort of spinach wrap" which in my opinion tasted very much like a spread you could buy at any supermarket. (1/10) Bruschetta (5/10) it wasn't the worse thing on the menu but at the end of the day it's just a piece of bread with tomato nothing about this "wowed" me, the presentation was again very standard... you would think that such an expensive restaurant would have more of an aesthetic... Moving on to the entrees, i ordered the Lobster Sauce linguine with prawns (1/10) This pasta was SO incredibly dry! As someone who has traveled all over Italy this pasta was one of the worst I've had! The pasta itself was to al dente the sauce lacked flavor and thickness, overall i was NOT A FAN! Finally the dessert we ordered the tiramisu, which i think was the worse mistake of the night... not only was the tiramisu JIGGLY! but the TOP PART smelt like LITERAL DOG FOOD ! Again any supermarket bought tiramisu would be 100x better than that. In all my years i have NEVER seen a jiggly tiramisu. ALL & ALL this place is horrible! Complete waste of time! Don't even bother coming here, i definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Yelp
want to start off by saying the service was a 5/5 we were so taken care of and even offered a small free bite of something with chorizo cheese and something else. The food though was borderline inedible. We had a bruschetta to start which was good the bread was soft and the tomato was fresh. We both ordered linguini with prawns in a lobster sauce and the pasta was SO DRY. I do want to say the prawns were good 4/5 but I couldn't get over how bad the pasta was we tried adding more Parmesan cheese to fix the plate but nothing worked 0/5 for the pasta and sauce. We ordered a tiramisu and it was such a mistake it was by far the worst tiramisu I have ever eaten in my life it had a gelatin like consistency and I cant even describe how bad it was it was chewy like bad on so many levels and the top sprinkle of I don't know what on the top smelled exactly like dog food . The views you can see are pretty and the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere. Would never return ever nor recommend based on the food. For these prices compared to what you can get in the area SKIP THIS PLACE the view is not worth it.

Yelp
The service, ambience, and view from the restaurant are incredible. The food is mediocre in comparison. The best dish was beef carpaccio (but I would have preferred flaked Parmesan cheese than thicker slices). Eggplant Parmesan was quite heavy and vegetable soup is so so.

Yelp
Beautiful view of the ocean from the restaurant's windows. That's only important if you have an early dinner. For a typical dinner, it's dark outside. Good Italian food outside of Italy seems to be consistently overpriced, and this was no exception. The meat and fish dishes were around 39 euros, which is more than double any meat or fish dish served at nearby restaurants. Pasta dishes were in the low 20s. Wines by the bottle were also around double what other restaurants charge -- for what appeared to be the same wines. The eggplant parmesan is a partially deconstructed dish -- the eggplant was cooked and covered with bechamel, parmesan, and a drizzle of basil oil with a half cherry tomato and a dollop of tomato paste on the side. The ravioli was homemade with a sublime sauce. I'm not sure whether the linguine was homemade, but it was good and flavorful. Service was lovely. It was more Madeiran and attentive. The tile work, particularly the peacock, was pretty.

Yelp
lovely views from the terrace with service and food to match. The crab and avocado starter was superb, the frito misto just as good. Didn't have room for desert, so have had to book again before returning to the uk as they looked heavenly. Not the cheapest meal in town, but what an evening!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food, service and ambiance! Vegetarian friendly - highly recommend the risotto.
