Eating Gluten-Free In Rome | Condé Nast Traveler

"In Garbatella, Ristoro degli Angeli — a charming, local-filled spot we discovered years ago — offers gluten-free mezze maniche, fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with mozzarella and anchovies in a rice-flour tempura batter, and cleverly uses the leftover batter to make gluten-free piadine to sop up sauces; their uova in trippa was the best in town, the restaurant has an inclusive approach that attracts many gluten-free diners, and they even offer a fabulous tiramisu made with gluten-free ladyfingers topped with a salty-sweet chocolate crumble." - Luke Pyenson

A very pleasant place! The coffee is excellent — rich and aromatic. The meat is incredibly tasty, juicy, and perfectly cooked, with the potatoes being the ideal side. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are friendly and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming experience.

The ambiance is warm and inviting, with vintage decor that adds to its old-world charm. The staff is attentive and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Given its popularity and limited seating, it’s advisable to make reservations in advance. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Ristoro degli Angeli offers a delightful taste of Rome’s culinary heritage.

I’m from out of town. The place came highly recommend by a local foodie girl and she nailed it ! The menu isn’t stretched to impress, just long enough to accommodate just about everyone. Wine by the glass is very varied and exceptional well priced. The overall winner is the bubbly and homely atmosphere all round. I walked in as a perfect stranger and after a few minutes I was simply one of the clan !

Visually amazing, the taste of the Carbonara left me so much to desire. It was very salty. I felt the attention looks like limited to the size of your pocket in order to achieve great tips in the ex-michelin restaurant. Garbatella looks like a great place to come more often and meet with sophisticated experience.

From the moment we walked in, we were met with the most welcoming staff. Every single person was incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly, making us feel right at home. The manager was also incredibly affable and made a point to ensure we had a fantastic experience. Let’s talk about the food – it was truly excellent quality across the board. A definite highlight was the pumpkin fritters. Made with rice flour, they were wonderfully light and crispy – truly a must-try! For dessert, their special homemade ice cream was a revelation. It struck the perfect balance between sweet and savory, a delightful combination that left us wanting more. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone looking for a memorable meal with outstanding service and delicious, innovative dishes.

The egg „tripa“, the mashed potato and the Carbonara were just amazing. Also, there are more vegetarian choice than most Roman restaurants offer. More of this, we had an excellent evening

Food taste: 4 Food portion: 2 Presentation: 3 Value: 2 We asked for sparkling water but got still water. Food took long to be served, but was compensated with some bread. We were not asked during our stay if we liked our meal. We were asked twice by two different waiters if we wanted desert/coffee. Overall food tasted good enough, but similar/better experiences can easily be had elsewhere, even at half the price.

Yelp
A neighborhood classic, an eclectic journey into the various gastronomic traditions from all over the country. You'd be tempted to lump it with the other trattorias serving typical Roman fare, instead you're presented with a bold menu which selects ingredients and wine pairing from disparate regions. The daily specials are even more appetizing, being as diverse as fried anchovies or golden-crisp Taleggio cheese on a bed of artichokes. I don't usually praise (or eat) the bread, but the "cacio e pepe" type was simply outstanding. Yes, I asked for seconds, with extra emphasis on the cacio e pepe. Every dish is well crafted, from the simple sides to the more sophisticated entrees, like the turbot rolls stuffed with artichoke. Now, that's really a new one. I love the location, the ambiance, the experience, a bit less the pricing, which is somewhat steep. You can easily spend over €50 if you get carried away, but I think it's money well spent. The service is relaxed but attentive, they accept reservations and all major credit cards. Not the only famous go-to place in Garbatella but likely the most refined.

Yelp
Ridiculously good food in a city where food offerings are faltering and not trying as hard as they used to. You can order here without caution. Its all good!

Yelp
We had just a handful of days in Roma and took the opportunity to venture to Garbetella, just 3 Metro stops from the Colleseo stop, near our hotel. Our goal was to see even a little bit of a non-touristic side of the city. This did it. the walk from the Garbetella stop is about 10 minutes and give a little local flavor, all good. But this review is not about the travel, but about where Al Ristoro deli Angeli can take you. We were not as adventurous as other reviewers here, but enjoyed the meal just as much. We were greeted at 20:15 in a most friendly manner, quickly recognized as being Italian-language challenged and saw a quick waitress swap, which we appreciated. The menu was explained fully as well as a short, but enticing set of daily specials, of which we chose the fried squash flowers stuffed with mozzarella and anchovy. AWESOME! We also selected an antipasti of slice meats, melon, cheese and an artichoke heart which was a nice pairing with the house red (1/2 litre - 11€). We followed with two classic Roman pastas, both better than good: tagliatelli with cheese and toasted sesame seeds and a spaghetti with cheese and pepper. We liked them both and would order them again. Our visit was the night of the Coppa Italia final between Juve-Lazio. We called our visit short and the staff was good enough to direct us to the Why Not Pub around the corner so we could catch the second half. They are just that friendly.
