Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

Tried Rita's decades ago when I was here and fell in love. Then we got one in San Francisco Bay area and I was happy but it just wasnt the same. So i was happy to be back and get some authentic Rita's.

May16,2025 I checked the website and it said this location closes at 6pm. I got there at 4:55 along with another family to see that they were closed. This is not the first time that this has happened at this location. Please do better Rita’s either update your hours or actually stay open during your business hours.

I went there @12 june 26 2025. Enjoy the product and the service. I decided to return the next day @4:00-4:15 and the cashier with the rag on her head was snotty to say the least. Her customer service skills are in toilet. I can only imagine her off the clock and her co-worker thought she was funny. Smh. I walked the boardwalk from Ocean Casino in the rain only to regret my efforts. They left such a nasty taste in my mouth, I couldn't enjoy my Gelati. It only takes one time for me to be over a business/ person, I definitely wont waste my time again.

I love Rita's and I love that they have this location here on the boardwalk which is great especially when you want a cold sweet treat on a hot summer day by the beach. The staff was very friendly and the service was very quick and efficient too, highly recommend!

My favorite custard chain. Can’t go wrong with Rita’s. My favorite is the classic twist in a waffle cone.

Easy to spot on the boardwalk they have a large frozen cone display out front, clean counters, tables and ice cream display also a plastic guard to help with social distancing. Service with smile from the mom and son duo reasonable prices and amazing flavors definitely worth a visit.

One of the lady’s screamed at me because outside I was leaning the table over and the ice cream was disgustingly gross the lady was very very rude to me and screamed at me for no reason when she could of politely told me to stop she’s the lady behind the popcorn

Lovely service! As an out of town visitor I wish I could take that apple pie milkshake back home with me. Absolutely delicious! An a la mode in shake form🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Cute little spot on the Atlantic City Boardwalk offering Italian ice and frozen custard--both are very good. I just hope they also carry frozen yogurt. They've recently introduced a new flavor: Cola Ice. Not sure if it's a limited-time option or a permanent addition.

What a lovely place !!! Mango custard is a must !!!! My son wasn't in the happiest mood because we're attacked by seagulls 3 minutes prior to coming here. My son didn't want anything and the guy gave my son a free cup and my son was so happy. It brightened his day ! Great customer service ! Lovely place to take pics in too. And refreshing tasty icees & custard ! My second time having Rita's & my second time getting mango vanilla.

Friendly and quick service as always. The man who helped us was nice and let us sample some flavors before I resorted to old reliable (Swedish fish ).

Wanted a sweet treat while walking up and down the Atlantic City boardwalk on a nice, sunny weekend afternoon. Service was quick- and the custard was tasty!

Am I a "fake" Italian? IDK but I am a little Polish too! I don't like Italian ice, so I went for their custard - super good and creamy! This was place is always jammin.' They have $1.00 cold waters - best price on the boardwalk.

Sooo yummy! I've been wanting to try this spot for a long time and I'm glad I finally did. I ordered strawberry watermelon slush with vanilla custard which was a great combo. It was a really hot evening but the ice didn't melt right away and the mixture between the custard and slush was delicious. The custard added a lovely creamy consistency which I genuinely enjoyed.

Love the ambiance because of how fast that the service is. The food is amazing there all of the different choices of water ice that they offer there.

That shit was insane. It's expensive as hell like $14 each but just splurge. It's not something you have everyday. Look how beautiful they are too!! Amazing flavors. Sample all that. Great service too love the girls, leave a dollar or two!!! They need that shit for collegespare ur gamblings lol

Their hours on Google are wrong or they close the shop early everyday? We went in around 8:45 to enjoy some ice cream, don't get me wrong, the brownie sundae was so good. Unfortunately, service was definitely lacking. On their menu they have sizes listed, but apparently a brownie sundae won't fit in a small? The employees felt hostile and I'm sure were just ready to leave for the evening but i genuinely thought they were open until 10. We also got the 2 hotdog (chips, drink) meal, less than $10, cheapest meal on the boardwalk for sure. Just wish the service could have been better, also inside is very small and they make it feel way to uncomfy to even sit in.

Nice stop on the Boardwalk on a hot day. Got a cherry ice and lemonade here. Quite refreshing and reasonable considering the cost of other things on the Boardwalk. Staff was nice and pleasant, which is also refreshing from the rudeness from other businesses on the Boardwalk. Inside was clean and bright. There was some spots outside to eat your ice or sit (when non patrons aren't there).There was no line when I went, but I could imagine during a busy time or a real hot day there would be. While you can get cool refreshments in other places on the boardwalk, this is also a safe bet.

Don't get to have Rita's often so it was a nice treat on a hot day at the Atlantic City boardwalk. Got a medium green apple and cherry Italian ice....should've gotten a large. But it was great! Line wasn't too long. Service was fast and accurate...

Good location close to Resorts. Always tasty and the frozen custard is very good. I feel it's a little pricey but it's the best ICES on the Boardwalk. Today the soft vanilla ice cream was gritty. I guess they didn't clean the machine correctly. I am not changing my rating unless it happens again. The Blue Raspberry Ice was great at least.

Went today and got half Swedish/ Cotton Candy. It was amazing!! Great service, a nice way to cool myself down on a hot day :)

Thought the frozen custard was great! So was the apple topping! Prices were pretty good for the boardwalk. Would go back.

Atlantic City may not be known for its incredible food, but one thing you need to get while you're here is an Italian ice from Rita's. Their flavors are constantly alternating and they also serve frozen custard, milkshakes, frozen yogurt, and Gelati. They also have creations that have layers of all of them. It is located right off the boardwalk. Best thing to do for parking, is probably to park in either one of the overpriced parking lots - or at the casino, that way you are underground. You can walk to the casino to get to the boardwalk. I would recommend the ladder. My colleague and I were in Atlantic City for a work event and for our lunch break we decided to walk over to the boardwalk and get a tasty treat from Rita's. You are able to sample all of their Italian ice flavors. They had an amazing Swedish fish flavor that tasted exactly like the candy. How do they do that? My colleague particularly loved the cotton candy flavor. She ended up getting a Fruity Pebbles flavored milkshake that had chunks of fruity pebble's in it. It was delicious. Overall, there is a good variety of flavors and they also have their calories listed on the menu in case you were wondering how sinful this adventure might be. It would've been five stars, however the place itself could have been cleaner and the people working there we were young and rude. Not the best representation overall. Otherwise, it would have been five stars. Enjoy!

The line can be overwhelmingly long especially on a hot day, but... IT IS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. The frozen custard is to die for and extremely refreshing.

Small servings of tasty treats that were a bit expensive. It was very good but tough to pay so much for so little.

If they are trying to call this ice cream, wow, what a joke. And the customer service is beyond pathetic. When I asked for chocolate ice cream and was delivered vanilla and asked for a refund, I was told "No, you can't not get a refund"! It was kind of delivered with a nasty attitude- I mean, my friend already said don't waste your money and after this experience- I completely understand why no one would ever go there again. Not only was it overpriced, the customer service was horrible and the "custard" which is really ice cream- was not really all that.

Rita's on the boardwalk, the WORST runny, melted ice in the franchise. Owner Maria is not accommodating at all in fact the worst customer service I've experienced. Don't go there other Rita's work so hard for great service and taste this is not one of them. Also they do NOT honor birthday club members.

Rita's is know for its Italian ice, but that's not all they have. Walking on on the boardwalk gets you in the mood for ice cream or milkshakes and Rita's has a many varieties of delicious dairy products such as frozen custard which is similar to ice cream and Oreo milkshakes. That's not even close to how many special combinations of different flavors that they have that are plain are mouth watering. The wait was very short and the price is some what reasonable for the portions you get. Overall I was very happy with what I got even more so and I highly recommend stopping in if your walking on the boardwalk anytime time soon.
