13 Ghost Kitchens to Try for Takeout and Delivery in D.C. | Eater DC

"There’s a new-ish Mexican spot in the city, and it’s tucked inside Roy Boys. Ranging in $4.50 - $5.50 a taco, fillings at Rita’s Tacos include Nashville hot chicken, al pastor, and the wildly favorite birria option that’s arguably the biggest taco trend of 2021. Add a side of elote corn for $6. Order for pickup for delivery through Toast." - Vinciane Ngomsi

The food itself was ok, but the value is great for what you paid. Service was good and happy to go again.

Google
Impromptu stop for lunch on our way to Ohio. What a great find!! I had tacos - chicken and beef. Very good. Hubs had a grilled chicken burrito bow - it looked amazing and so fresh! He said it was the “best burrito bowl” he’s ever had! Friendly staff, clean restrooms, and delicious food! Highly recommend!!!

Visited at 3PM on a Monday. The first thing my wife and I noticed was the cleanliness. It smelled great, and all the surfaces were clean and shiny. The staff serviced us right away and we got our food and drinks in less than 10 minutes. The food was amazing. We had two birria tacos and the Steak and Cheese fries. Both were delicious and we'll proportioned. The salsa that is served with the chips is one of the best I've tasted in a while. It has a great lingering kick. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Now time for a nap.

Google
Update: The lunch menu is deceiving, there are only daily lunch specials. On my order, they would not give me a Chimichanga with Queso on the side. Literally. I had to have it on the Chimichanga or none at all. Very strange rule. No way to keep your Queso dip warm. So it's their way, not your way. ..... Fajitas were great! So was the salsa and queso! Waiter and server were very kind.

Google
Not the best I've had but It's not bad. The price is good and the locals seem to love it. If you're tired of the other two options in this town, it's worth a try.

Google
Great food and good service! The fajitas for 2, you can't beat the price anywhere around there, trust me, I've tried. They give you plenty of meat and everything. My fiance and I always bring back enough for another meal after we've ate all we want. Hint: the combo fajitas for 2 with chicken and shrimp are awesome! Their tacos are very good chicken, fish, steak, any of them, and they're very reasonably priced as well. Definitely our go to place for Mexican food in Corydon.

Google
Food was very good, better than expected. Service was bad. Possibility, maybe they could have been shorthanded today, but service was awful. I didn't get my drink till 20 minutes after ordering it, and had to remind him, never came back to see if we needed anything after receiving food, and had to finally go to host stand to get our check. The food is wonderful, but people will stop coming if the service continues like that. Prices are really good too.

Google
I eat out almost every night and I'm always looking for a new place to try. I had high hopes for this place but be advised when you order a burrito and it comes with beans and rice it's actually a beans and rice and meat burrito. They even put the sour cream inside yuck warm sour cream. I tried a little bit and I took it home and fed it to my next door neighbor's chicken everyone's taste is different so if you like hot sour cream can your beans and rice mixed inside you might like it I thought it had a bad flavor

Yelp
Fairly small taco shop in town. Was very busy Monday at 6:30pm. Service was fast. I'd say so so on prices. I expected it to be a little cheaper in Corydon but it was about the same for tacos that I pay in Columbus, OH. The elote however was crazy cheap at -$3 and was fantastic. Chips were so so. Sals was pretty spicy but I like spice and it was good resturaunt thick puree style. Taco al pastor was terrific. Pork was well seasoned and juicy tender. Toppings and corn tortilla were awesome. Beef hard shell taco was so so. The shell was great and you could tell made in house. The beef had no flavor. My two biggest issues: the taco was tiny. They serve in laying on its side. So I had to reassemble it. Beer was cold and reasonable price. Overall would recommend and visit again.

Yelp
We found ourselves in Corydon at lunch time. My niece owns a business in Corydon and I asked her for a recommendation for lunch. She mentioned Rita's. My wife ordered the full order of Chimichangas (2) that came with rice and beans ($11.50). The portions were big. My wife got her Chimi's filled with ground beef. There are other options. She said the ground beef could have been seasoned a little more, but that's a personal preference. I ordered the Lunch Texas Fajita. ($10.99). The Texas Fajita is a mix of chicken, beef and shrimp. It comes with rice and beans, guacamole, sour cream and Pico de Gallo. Nice plate of food for $10.99. The Pico was pretty bland, it could have used some jalapenos to liven it up. The Texas Fajita is also served as a dinner size for more money of course. I found my lunch to be plenty even as the lunch size. The chicken and beef were both moist and tender. Very tasty. Between both of us we had enough leftover to take home and feed us for supper! All beer, bottles and draft are $1 off Monday thru Thursday. I had a 32 oz Dos Equis draft for $5.75 after the discount. Our server was fast and efficient. We visit Corydon several times a year. I'm sure we will return to Rita's in the future.

Yelp
Definitely our go to mexican restaurant. Quality food, best frozen margaritas and fair priced.

Yelp
My Mexican mother in law said this was the most authentic place around for Mexican food, so that's where we went! The food is always super fresh, the drinks are strong and yummy, and it's not expensive. Whats not to love?!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food, nice atmosphere, friendly and competent employees. A good variety on the menu. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The grilled chicken salad - let's not mince words because it was a chicken taco sans tortilla, was excellent! The service was great and the menu was reasonably priced. Seating is very limited. I suggest a time outside normal dining periods or call in your order and pick it up!

Yelp
Heading west through southern Indiana and had a hankering for some tacos...my love language. Rita's was right off the interstate, and did not disappoint! Delicious tacos and nachos in a quaint family homey restaurant. The size of the place added to it's ambiance and the service was perfect, non-intrusive but attentive, and timely. We really enjoyed this little stop on our journey and it certainly was better than any of the choices around it in Corydon. Thanks, Rita's Tacos, for speaking my love language so well.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday! $20 for three adults to enjoy a variety of tacos on this Tuesday evening. We ate outside since we have our dog with us. We ordered Grilled shrimp, grilled tilapia, alpastor (pork), chicken, and black bean tacos on corn, flour and crunchy shells. Served with two sauces on the side along with pico, avocado, cilantro and onions. Complimentary fresh crunchy chips and salsa with a spicy kick served as well. Service was very good. Fast and friendly. Inside was clean with nice large handicap accessible restrooms. Follow the directions from your Yelp app and enjoy! Love that Yelp helps us find local spots right off the interstate.

Yelp
Yes! The tacos were great! Lots of meat, for a reasonable price per taco. Lots of choices for margaritas. They have patio seating. Loved it! I would 110% recommend!

Jo J.

Yelp
So delicious! Wonderful, flavorful fish tacos, and a salad topped with succulent shrimp & tender tilapia, avocado, and more. This modest, casual independent restaurant is a gem in a sea of fast food and chain restaurants just off the highway - don't miss it! And they were kind enough to serve us despite arriving minutes before closing time. Menu is accessed via a QR code to read online, so plan to have a phone with a QR app on it if possible.

Yelp
Excellent taco shop in a little strip mall. Service was very good. They have a fairly full Mexican menu but I came for the tacos and was not disappointed. Very reasonably priced.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I enjoy this Mexican food! It keeps improving, they need to buy a bigger place!I love the shrimp fajitas and shrimp fajitas nachos are HUGE I get deluxe with lettuce, tomato and sour cream and guac...bit enough for TWO! My husband loves their burritos he adds guac and queso..their free hot salsa is very good n chips are a bit oily but comes hot and crunchy. We keep coming back.

Yelp
Great find off the busy Corydon strip. Food and service was excellent. They offered outdoor seating as well.

Yelp
Margarita is now here, a really good Margarita is here. The tacos are great and overflowing with meat. The chicken soup is always my favorite with all the cilantro, white chicken, onion, rice and always served up hot and so crazy delicious, always get some extra limes to accent the flavors. Best spot in town by far.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar for quite some time. Located in a small shopping plaza this is quite the hidden treasure. During these tough times, I'm all about supporting small local businesses. Rita's Taco shop was delicious and I look forward to coming back next time I'm in the area. The menu is small but mighty. The prices on it are outdated and are slightly higher. My friend and I both decided to order beers and tacos. We both went for al pastor, steak, and carnitas tacos. Chips and salsa are complimentary and we also ordered a small side of guacamole. Our food was brought out within 10minutes and looked amazing. The meat was flavorful, tender, and oh so delicious. The salsas provided on the side complimented it all well. Check this place out, it's quite delicious!

Yelp
This week's adventure was a bit of a drive, but worth it. Rita's is a little whole in the wall that's easy to miss. I'm glad we didn't miss it. Top 3 best Mexican restaurant salsa I've had. I had the fajita taco salad. It was delicious. The prices were very good. I would definitely make this my go to when in the area.

Anthony H.

Yelp
Never been disappointed at Rita's, service is great, food is always hot and tasty. Good atmosphere and has outside tables. Prices are great for the portions, good or better than most Mexican restaurants.

Yelp
What!? What!? I was looking for the taco shop I had previously visited in this area and though this was it - it wasn't - but after seeing the menu, tasting the food, and experiencing their customer service, I was completely thrilled to find a great location for truly authentic Mexican food! My hubs and I did more of a tasting menu rather than individual portions which helps us taste everything, rather than basing our opinion on 2 specific dishes. As a Mexican food enthusiast, I would definitely recommend this place! The flavors are amazing! The dishes are authentic. The salsa choices are spot on. The margaritas don't taste like their past their 2 year shelf life (mix). My only complaint is the fish in the tacos...super small portions compared to the other portion sizes in the tacos, but excellent nonetheless. Go!

Angie B.

Yelp
All in all, the food was "ok". Nothing I'd write home about or that I can't find elsewhere. That said, service was fast and pleasant. For a quick lunch, it's a decent choice.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Ordered to-go. Food was good. Onions on my fajita quesadilla could have been cut smaller, but overall pretty good. I imagine it's even better if you order and eat there in store.
google avatar

Suzanne W.

Yelp
My daughter and grandkids had the single tacos the steak and shrimp I decided to try something different other then there delicious carnitas . So I had the enchiladas and not a good choice especially when your used to eating authentic enchiladas the tortillas seemed raw or cold not sure and just a little to salty for me . The rice was delicious and the service was good .

Yelp
We can't wait to go back - the nachos were terrific and the nacho fries were delicious.

Yelp
I popped in Rita's over the weekend for a carry out of fish tacos but we decided to dine in once I saw their lunch special of $5.99 lunch fajitas - chicken or steak. Glad we stayed because we loved their fresh salsa and crispy chips. We were divided on the chicken fajitas...my partner said the chicken was prepared with too much salt but I didn't detect it though. Their guacamole was extremely tasty, very fresh like everything that we were served. As dessert, we ordered a flan to share and found it lacking in flavor which was disappointing. We will eat there again to try something different!!

Yelp
I came here a few months ago for a late lunch, while in the area. I had this place bookmarked for some time due to reading about their fish tacos. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted and seated. It was empty inside and I was the only customer; I came at an off time of day, and this was late spring, with the Big Flu panic in full-on mode. I ordered two fish tacos almost immediately, since I already knew what I wanted. The chips and salsa my server brought were both fresh and good. My food took a bit, which was okay, as I wasn't in a hurry. When my tacos arrived, I dug right in. I started with the grilled fish taco, which was very good. The fish was a good size, which almost measured the width of the tortilla, was grilled perfectly, and had a nice flavor. It was properly served on a corn tortilla, and accompanied by pico de Gallo, a slice of avocado, and a dousing of chipotle mayo. Worth a repeat for sure. My fried fish taco is another story altogether. I didn't notice it when my food first arrived, but the fried piece of fish on the taco was so tiny! (See pictures.) Literally, the avocado slice was bigger. It was sad. That taco, with that microscopic piece of fish, should have never even been fried by the cook. Period. Any cook that would think that is okay to serve to a customer needs to find another line of work. Secondly, the server should've been on her game and noticed it as well. Two people handled this and thought it was customer-worthy. Sad. If I had noticed it when my food first arrived, I would've definitely sent it back. What little I could taste of that micro-fish was good. It was fried right and golden. They weren't the traditional Baja fried fish tacos though: the fish was breaded instead of battered, it was served on a flour tortilla instead of corn, was missing the usual red cabbage slaw, and came with pico and a slice of avocado. It did come with the standard chipotle mayonnaise, which I enjoyed. Even though the fried fish taco wasn't Baja-style, it was still tasty. I would've really liked it if the piece of fish had been bigger than my thumb. My server was seemingly efficient and friendly enough. Yet, she could've been my advocate and not allowed that sad taco out of the kitchen. The grilled fish taco was really good though. I don't make it out to Corydon that often, so I don't know that I'll return. If I ever do, it'll be for the grilled fish tacos only.

Yelp
Great food and a good price. We went there for lunch on a Saturday. It's my new favorite place to go.
google avatar

Erik H.

Yelp
Wish I had took a picture of the street tacos... They were absolutely full and tasted great... I used nearly a full bottle of the verde sauce too, it was addicting. $2.50 a taco is crazy low for what you get.. Great food..
google avatar

Victoria T.

Yelp
This spot serves up amazing fish tacos. Get them grilled. They are pretty filling so two or three will stuff you like a rich kid's piñata. The service can be a little slow when it's busy but the food is worth the wait.
google avatar

Dow O.

Yelp
Limited menu over priced would rather get street food Truck she needs to up her taco game.

Yelp
This place is a great Mexican restaurant, I can't explain how much I love it, the decorations are amazing and the food is better than anything I could imagine. I would definitely recommend to Mexican lovers.

April P.

Yelp
Great prices, great portions and great food! I love the shredded chicken taco bowl. My family eats here often, we normally get it to go.

Scott P.

Yelp
Truly a great Taco place and looks like it has many other yummy things on the menu . Prices are reasonable , I will be back

Veronica L.

Yelp
All the food is really good! Service is fast and friendly! Restroom are clean. Restaurant is always full they put tables outside! Once you eat there nothing else is good

Yelp
Went there for the lunch the other day, got the chicken fajitas. Prices were cheap and you get plenty of food. This is a must visit again for me.

Yelp
Really wonderful find. Convenient too as I stayed a night at the Holiday Inn Express right behind it. Anyway, fish tacos are excellent. I ordered one grilled and one fried. Would get both again. I should have stopped thee but ordered a side of rice and side of beans. I was hoping for black beans but it was refried. Really good though. I dumped the leftover salsas in it and dipped the crisp fresh tortilla chips in it. Yum. Not sure if I got the ample bag of chips and side of salsa with the tacos or the sides or just because. All is tasty and fresh. Go!

A M.

Yelp
We loved the ample fresh chips and salsa. Service was speedy and friendly. This place is a great value!Especially enjoyed the chimichangas, rice and beans, and steak and shrimp tacos. Highly recommend:)

Yelp
Best Mexican food in the area. Excellent tacos and many other specialties. Excellent lunch and dinner plates. Nice selection on menu.
google avatar

Doug D.

Yelp
Oh man! What to say. The service was exceptional. To say the food was great would be an understatement. The tacos had so much meat they were busting apart. Unlike so many Mexican restaurants, the rice actually had flavor. Even better was the price. Lunch for 2 was only $14 and we had so much food we couldn't eat it all.
google avatar

Debbie U.

Yelp
Ordered takeout Saturday night. I called two hours before I planned to pickup. My COMPLETE order was ready when I arrived. The chicken quesadilla was the best I've ever encountered! My husband had the Chicken Cheese Fries and was very satisfied with his food. Of course the servings are large and we had enough leftoversfor Sunday lunch too! Their guacamole is A+.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Food was decent, servers were friendly and food was out quickly. I was happy with everything until a bug came crawling across the bench and over my leg. Immediately asked for my check. Told the lady at the register what happened and she chuckled and said I'll check that out and proceeded with my transaction.

Pam W.

Yelp
This is a great spot for casual dining in Corydon. Its one of my top three restaurants here - along with 1816 and Bistro on Chestnut. Food is delicious and portions are generous. Margaritas are freshly made and rival the ones we get in much fancier places. Go Rita's!!!

Natasha B.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised to find this place right off the interstate. Delicious meats and fresh corn tortillas. Chorizo and al pastor were our favorites. Chips were made to order.
google avatar

Virginia S.

Yelp
Wow! I kept passing by this little place on my commute and they were always busy. Stopped in tonight and ordered to go canita and chicken tacos. This was the best take out I remember ever having! Delicious corn tortillas and the best filling!! And all the sides carefully packed including a slice of lime. The 'side' bag of chips was huge. Everything seemed made to order and home made (with love) as well. Delicious, great prices, beautiful servers, authentic to the core. They also have several tables in there and some desserts I wish I had ordered. Next time!! Best place around. Go there.
google avatar

Alayna D.

Yelp
Really tasty food but my steak was very rough and difficult to cut up. They didn't bother to cut it up for me and the steak knife wasn't strong enough to do so either. Other than that everything was good.

Lynn R.

Yelp
The waiter was very friendly. The salsa was just the right amount of spicy. My husband had a fish taco and a shrimp taco and said both were delicious. I had the beef taco salad and it was fresh and had plenty of meat. We are planning on stopping by on our way back home.

Sarah K.

Yelp
We first came here when the restaurants were closed in Kentucky due to COVID and can't stop coming and making the drive! It's the best Mexican food! The shredded chicken nachos or the steak burrito are amazing!!

Andrew J.

Yelp
Wow! What a gem. Found Rita's by accident. I'm kind of a tamale need. Rita's tamales are awesome. I live in FL, but visit Southern Indiana often. I will definitely be back...often.
google avatar

Tyler E.

Yelp
Great tacos. Definitely better than El Nop. Definitely a business Corydon needed. Just ready for them to start serving alcohol. If you're in Corydon you need to stop in and try it out.

Brianna D.

Yelp
They're basically a fast food authentic Mexican restaurant but they have really great food at great prices!
