I came here a few months ago for a late lunch, while in the area. I had this place bookmarked for some time due to reading about their fish tacos. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted and seated. It was empty inside and I was the only customer; I came at an off time of day, and this was late spring, with the Big Flu panic in full-on mode. I ordered two fish tacos almost immediately, since I already knew what I wanted.
The chips and salsa my server brought were both fresh and good. My food took a bit, which was okay, as I wasn't in a hurry. When my tacos arrived, I dug right in. I started with the grilled fish taco, which was very good. The fish was a good size, which almost measured the width of the tortilla, was grilled perfectly, and had a nice flavor. It was properly served on a corn tortilla, and accompanied by pico de Gallo, a slice of avocado, and a dousing of chipotle mayo. Worth a repeat for sure. My fried fish taco is another story altogether. I didn't notice it when my food first arrived, but the fried piece of fish on the taco was so tiny! (See pictures.) Literally, the avocado slice was bigger. It was sad. That taco, with that microscopic piece of fish, should have never even been fried by the cook. Period. Any cook that would think that is okay to serve to a customer needs to find another line of work. Secondly, the server should've been on her game and noticed it as well. Two people handled this and thought it was customer-worthy. Sad. If I had noticed it when my food first arrived, I would've definitely sent it back.
What little I could taste of that micro-fish was good. It was fried right and golden. They weren't the traditional Baja fried fish tacos though: the fish was breaded instead of battered, it was served on a flour tortilla instead of corn, was missing the usual red cabbage slaw, and came with pico and a slice of avocado. It did come with the standard chipotle mayonnaise, which I enjoyed. Even though the fried fish taco wasn't Baja-style, it was still tasty. I would've really liked it if the piece of fish had been bigger than my thumb.
My server was seemingly efficient and friendly enough. Yet, she could've been my advocate and not allowed that sad taco out of the kitchen. The grilled fish taco was really good though. I don't make it out to Corydon that often, so I don't know that I'll return. If I ever do, it'll be for the grilled fish tacos only.
