"Pittsburgh has a host of restaurants that have opened in the past ten years that feature exciting menu items and fun drinks, but there are just as many beloved local businesses that have long histories within their communities. Ritter’s Diner, which has been open for over 65 years, is the place to grab breakfast as you’re heading in or out of town. Ritter’s has pretty standard diner fare like pancakes, french toast, and bacon, but it’s the stake they’ve placed in the community that keeps many coming back. If you like an especially sweet breakfast, try the s’mores pancakes. If you lean more savory, the Florentine omelette might be more your style." - Dani Janae

I got the hobo Greek omelet with feta cheese. It was the freshest feta I've ever had at a restaurant. The combination of flavors with the amazing sauce. I can't explain how impressed I was with the service and food. Will definitely come again. Thank you for the amazing experience

This diner has been on a “we should stop there one day” list for 20 years. Finally did this evening and am very pleased to have done so. Pretty well maintained and cleaned 50’s diner complete with working juke boxes at some of the tables. Servers were pleasant but not overly attentive, but I prefer that. I just love a good hot sandwich, Turkey, meatloaf, roast beef, and ordered the turkey. It was exactly what I hope for in a good solid old school diner hot sandwich. Nice slices of Turkey with a classic gravy and homestyle mashed potatoes. Also had the coleslaw which was pretty great with another classic presentation and a sweet vinegary dressing. Had to go for the fresh baked pies, apple bu suggestion. Really good apple pie! This was a pleasant and relaxing dinner experience. Will defiantly be returning soon

I really wanted to enjoy Ritter’s, as past generations of my family tree ate there every decade since the the 1951 opening. For the most part, it delivered. The buckwheat pancakes were great (add blueberries) and the decor is 50’s fantastic. And everything is very reasonably priced. The only issue was the poor service. It took a while to get a knife. And then I couldn’t get a coffee refill. Two waitresses had an awkward spat behind the counter, with both “time in prison” and “stripper work” referenced. I would have been amused if my coffee cup was full. Enjoy Ritter’s and all it’s “splendor”.

Classic diner experience with delightful wait staff and filling portions! Expect a bit of a wait on Saturday mornings, but they keep things moving. Service is awesome! Try the spinach and feta omelette!!

A Pittsburgh slice of Americana, Ritter's always delivers...even on a Tuesday at 2:00pm. Go. Eat. Enjoy.

An amazing place for breakfast. Everything here is soooo cheap and delicious. The best fried zucchini I've ever had. Great fast and friendly service as well. Overall amazing experience.

Love this place. Been going for as long as I can remember. I had the honey fried chicken. It was awesome, not loaded with honey where it's all sticky but just the right amount to add some sweet to the chicken. The waitress was super friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back. Great comfort food.

SerpAPI
One of the best diners in Pittsburgh. Daily specials are great but the real highlight is the freshly cooked and carved turkey! The turkey club is excellent. Gyros are also tops and the honey fried chicken meal is my personal go-to. The staff is attentive and friendly, jukeboxes on each table have a wonderful assortment of tunes. Perfect place for lunch!

Yelp
Ritter's is a good dinner. I remember going there late night in Pittsburgh. All of the food is good dinner food. I highly recommend this place.

Robert R.

Yelp
Excellent food, great "diner" atmosphere, and good service. Parking can be limited but there is street parking in addition to their lot behind the building.

Robert J F.

Yelp
Great home style Greek dinner. Tasty omelets& good coffee. Cash only but that's ok.they have Greek food as well as breakfast if every kind.

Andrew M.

Yelp
Way overrated and went WAY DOWNHILL! For perspective... it wasn't even busy, about a quarter full (empty counter but for 2 stools; about 8 empty booths.) Home fries were horribly prepared - most tasted like they were boiled, except for the charred ones which had to be cut with a knife! Toast was way undone, not cut through and butter (margerine) piled in the middle and not spread. Waitress gave no napkins but for the one with their very cheap horrible flatware. Worst breakfast I ever had there, except for the tomato juice with a nice chunk of lemon and the eggs (but ordered 3 got 2.) Be a while til I go back.

Marlee B.

Yelp
Quick service and no frills - truly a classic breakfast diner. I ordered scrambled eggs with home fries, bacon, and toast. The home fries are crispy on the outside, and the bacon has the perfect amount of crunch. Note that it's cash only!

Yelp
Ive NEVER encountered a more RUDE employee of a food establishment in my life. We ordered steak & eggs.... Both steaks cooked MEDIUM . The steaks came out extra well done. We very politely brung it to the server's attention, at which point one of the cooks comes out from the kitchen and begins to LITERALLY ARGUE with us, saying that the steaks were "cooked perfectly ". He argued... he looked us up & down and smirked... he accused us of wanting free food... he basically treated us like garbage. We later found out that this old man was one of the "owners" and is apparently known for his attitude & treatment towards people of color. Our breakfast was ruined at this point. Our waitress was very nice & apologetic and we left her a generous tip before we left. We will NEVER return.

Shqipe L.

Yelp
Ritter's Diner is a classic. This is a family run business. All the food is homemade !! Great fried zhuchinni and fried tomatoes . Anything you order is good. They treat their employees well and they always have. Anyone who has ever had a business understands the challenges . These are great folks and they do their best! We been eating at Ritter's for years and will continue going back. We love this place and all the familiar faces.

Melisa N.

Yelp
I used to love Ritters it was a nice local diner with friendly people and reasonable prices. My last experience was terrible the food was bad the staff was so rude. We paid 74 dollars for 4 people to have a basic breakfast. The cashier that took our money slammed my change on the counter no Thankyou for coming or even a goodbye. I won't ever go back there again

David R.

Yelp
Perfect diner food. The avgolemono soup is super tasty and the omelettes are great as well. I want to return to have breakfast! French toast ... pancakes ... I'll be back! ;-)

Jayme B.

Yelp
Ritter's is one of those classic Pittsburgh diners that just remind you of home and comfort. I hadn't been in years, so we decided to stop in for breakfast a few weekends ago. They have a parking lot across the street which makes it easy to park, especially in Shadyside. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and my husband ordered the corn beef hash breakfast. His came with eggs and toast. Our waitress was great and attentive. Our food came out quickly and everything tasted good. Our total bill was approx $17, so prices are great here! If you're in the mood for some nostalgia and comfort food, be sure to check out Ritter's! Ps- they are cash only, so be prepared. They do have an ATM on site as well.

Ella R.

Yelp
Very tasty food! The diner feels authentic. Good old family cooking! They are very kind and caring. They make you feel like family! Brandy was our waitress and she was amazing!

Natalie H.

Yelp
Tried the place for Sunday brunch with visiting family. It was very busy, but we got a table in the back room within 10-15 minutes. Our waitress was very nice, especially given how busy it was. Food was a little slow, but again understandable with the crowd. The menu is extensive, so we're looking forward to returning to try something new. We liked the unique, Greek inspired breakfast options, such as the gyro omelettes. The omelettes were all really good and large portions. Potatoes were average. The one downside that soured my experience was that the bathroom was absolutely disgusting.

Erin T.

Yelp
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered a feta omelet with onions, mushrooms and spinach with a side of bacon. My friend ordered oatmeal and a side of eggs. Our waitress, Tina was super friendly and the food was delivered quickly. The ambiance is rather sweet meaning there are a lot of repeat customers and you can feel the warmth :) There is free parking in their lot behind the diner. I will be coming back! Give it a try!

Michelle D.

Yelp
I had the meatloaf to go with homefries and green beans! Excellent taste and great service wit a smile. My food was ready when I got there and it was hot when I got back to the office. It was great because I didn't have to cook it! Thank you!!! It was busy and the place was neat and clean.

Jason M.

Yelp
I used to come here all the time when I was much younger ... it was always a popular place for a friendly, filling, good meal. Today Ritters was packed and we were fortunate to get the last two seats at the counter. Never sat at the counter before and it was an interesting experience watching scores of steaming hot, delicious plates coming out of the kitchen. We both got western omelets -- they're advertised as two eggs but they must be gigantic ones -- and a small mountain of home fries. I also got my favorite: buckwheat pancakes. Mmmm ... everything was hot and delicious. I really enjoyed the coffee, too, as it was hot, and strong and flavorful but not at all bitter. Yum !!

Michael H.

Yelp
Spectacular. I'm visiting the area for work. Everyone at the local office wanted some chain dump for dinner. I knew Pittsburgh would have a little diner somewhere. Thanks to Yelp, I found Ritter's. The best onion rings I've had in years, terrific, Greek chicken rice soup, and rice pudding like my mom used to make. I hope people in the area cherish this treasure.

Mark K.

Yelp
Service was fine. Pace of food delivery was reasonable. Ambiance is of a traditional Pittsburgh decor for a diner. I had a chicken Parm sandwich. My bad for ordering this at a diner. But, they must have microwaved the chicken to point it was hard rubber. The breakfast foods are fine but I didn't order that. Maybe just take this item off the menu.

Amber J.

Yelp
You can't beat a local diner with inexpensive food that taste good. This visit I had pumpkin pancakes, eggs and home fries. The pancakes were huge so I opted to take those to go. They ended up tasting great. The eggs were good as were the home fries. My server was great I forgot her name but she was helpful with her suggestions and came to the table multiple times to check on us. There's nothing fancy here but food is decent for a good price.

Bevann K.

Yelp
I have frequently tried the breakfast, and it is ok! Tonight I had to listen to the waitress and cook arguing through out dinner.

Adrianne F.

Yelp
Delicious blueberry pancakes. Perfectly crispy bacon, good coffee. Awesome place all around

Eryn P.

Yelp
How disappointing. Ordered through Grubhub with zero delay on their part. For $7 I received three THREE teeny cheese sticks. (?) Ordered the fried green tomato app as well and they were the saddest things, like fried hockey pucks. The fish sandwich was clearly in the freezer 10 minutes before my driver picked up. And they didn't even bother to toast the bun. AVOID. Happy eating, just not here.

Sierra N.

Yelp
perfect diner! great prices and great food. i really enjoyed how laid back and traditional this diner was. we had a great server. they only take cash but they have an atm inside for your convenience. i can't wait to come back !

Shay O.

Yelp
The food is average. I've been to better diners. My problem is how they talk to their servers. The servers all appear to be senior citizens and they way owners treat them leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Douglas R.

Yelp
My wife and I watched them turn away two couples 40 minutes before the restaurant's scheduled closing time. One couple had already sat down and was given menus, and someone from the staff asked them to leave. Astonishing rudeness. We've grossly over-tipped and gone out of our way to patronize this place just to help them stay afloat, but we're probably not going back now. After 25+ years of patronage. All that, and cold food too (sometimes).

Arlene M.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat since I was in the area. Ritter's diner has their own parking lot which makes it convenient when looking to park in Shadyside. Paper menus are given and their daily specials are written at the front and on a card at your table. The diner "jukeboxs" are not in operation due to Co-Vid 19. Had a friendly and attentive waitress and decided to get their meat loaf sandwich special of the day. It comes with your choice of potato and is smothered in brown gravy. Got the food fairly quickly. The food was average-Meatloaf was good but not overly thick. Got mashed potatoes to go with them. They were ok as well. The diner wasn't overly busy and you pay at your table instead of at the register. Please note that Ritter's is currently cash only and they do have an ATM in the event you only have cards when you come. Prices are very reasonable. They serve breakfast, lunch and have a good selection of desserts in their refrigerator. Located on Baum Blvd as you approach Shadyside they have multiple parking lots of their own.

John N.

Yelp
The food is usually pretty good, but the last time I went (July 8) the crazy-looking older employee with the blond hair was physically assaulting (as in grabbing, yanking around, and shoving) the girl she was training, because she mixed up tables 1 and 2 in the back room. Now instead of remembering the food and hanging with my friends, I think of this ludicrous violent person when I think of Ritters, and just feel angry and sad that's how they treat their employees. Not sure I'll go back.

Julie B.

Yelp
I'm all about a good diner so I was looking forward to trying this place. Upon arriving it was nice to see that they had a separate parking lot just for the diner. Not having to fight for parking is always a plus! Also warning they only accept cash here, but do have an ATM available to use. We were greeted and seated right away and given menus to place our orders. The booths have old school jukeboxes that seem to still be functional, but maybe not in use due to Covid? The diner is very old school I believe it's been around since the 50's. The decor gives you a Greek feel. The waitress that we had was friendly and even cracked a couple of jokes with us and another table with two older gentleman who were talking about running out on their bill. I ordered an apple juice to drink and it had an unidentified object floating in it. That made my stomach squirm so I ordered waters for the table. My water was good but my best friends water also had something lurking in between the ice cubes. So yeah, I recommend checking your drinks. Moving on I ordered the 2 eggs with potatoes and bacon with toast. The eggs, bacon and potatoes were delicious, but that toast was literally black in places. Total bummer if you wanted to use it for the dippy eggs! Overall I wasn't to impressed with my experience here. Maybe I just caught them on an off day?

Yelp
Perfect home style American restaurant. Cheap food with good taste and warm-hearted waitresses. It has existed for around 70 years, which could already demonstrate its quality. I will recommend anyone to this restaurant.

Abby B.

Yelp
Great classic diner! Simple and delicious diner fare and great friendly service. Definitely recommend! My partner got the strawberry pancakes special which were delicious and I got the french toast which was quite simple but yummy and 2 eggs with perfectly cooked crispy potatoes! Good coffee (for a diner) and good buttered toast.

Brennan M.

Yelp
Undercooked food and filthy bathrooms. Possibly the dirtiest bathrooms in a restaurant I've ever seen.

Eric S.

Yelp
The service was excellent! I am not from around here, Im from the State College area and just stopped at a cute diner quick for breakfast...The girls (servers) are so sweet!! The food was delicious and came quickly although they were very busy. I sat at the counter and met these three chatty old men, they were very nice as well and one even paid for my meal! Highly recommend this place, with very good food and for an adequate price as well. And a very cute area!! They have a parking lot across from the restaurant which makes it way easy for parking (which is something I struggle with haha) This diner was a great start to my morning! Also for some reason my name on here is my stepdads name LOL. It's Ryleigh!

Adam A.

Yelp
From the outside, looks like your bog standard Americana diner, and it can be if you want it to be: plenty of breakfast dishes in a trad style available, including your typical bacon, eggs, and toast combo, pancakes and syrup, and the perennial favorite, bottomless coffee. There's also an old timey analogue jukebox by each table where for a mere 50 cents in quarters you can crank up classic rock, disco, motown, country, and pop tunes, almost none of it released before the year 2000 or so. NOW here's where things get really cool. And serious. And intense. Okay, are you ready for this? At Ritter's, you can get SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS for BREAKFAST. That's right. As a BREAKFAST dish. Do you know what else you can get for breakfast? VEAL PARMIGIANA. That's right. For breakfast! Served with a side salad and a side dish of spaghetti! Decent quantity, decent variety, for a standard breakfast price? How's that for a SWEET, SWEET deal. Other menu options include gyros, fried chicken, baked fish, the list goes on! If you want something lowkey different hidden behind a highkey same-y facade, you want Ritter's. A real hidden gem!

Rto A.

Yelp
Popular place on a Sunday afternoon. The rueben omelette was excellent and they make a great cup of coffee. The place was hoppin' In spite, the staff was pleasant and engaging. I did think it took a little too long to get our food. Usually the counter can count on getting served quicker. Not the case that day. I was missing the retro light fixtures. Wish they hadn't changed those out.

Andy V.

Yelp
For me, you can't say the word, "diner" and not think of Ritters. It's a quintessential diner in all forms of the word. From the decor, to the taste of the food, to even the staff uniform, it's to me what a diner is all about. The inside is like a throwback to any diner that's come and gone. I don't think the interior has been updated, well, ever, but while it's outdated, it's completely charming which includes the old jukeboxes on the tables. The staff wear uniforms in the form of nurses scrubs. I assume because it's next to the hospital? I never really knew why for certain. The menu is typical diner flair and the prices are cheap. On my last visit I craved some blueberry pancakes which I really enjoyed. This place gets crazy when the bars close. Nothing makes a drunk feel better than some breakfast food at 2am, especially when that meal costs the same as one beverage. Service here can be dicey at best. My last visit was crazy. You could tell the server was not feeling it today. I let her do her thing, it didn't bother me, but don't come here expecting world-class service because that's not going to happen. The place is cash only but there is an ATM at the front for you to use. If you're looking for an old-school diner with cheap food that taste good then this is going to be right up your alley. If you have any need to be waited on hand and foot then you might want to try someplace else.

Tim W.

Yelp
it's diner food, if you expect anything else you'll be disappointed. service would have been better if the hostess would do ANYTHING . 2 waitresses running like chicken with tjeee heads cut off, hostess does absolutely NOTHING! service would have been faster. prices reasonable, food on the lower end pf the quantity scale for even dinner food.

Nancy C.

Yelp
The service at Ritter's is always very attentive. The food is solid and reliable albeit very plain. Pretty clean given the traffic they get. Breakfast food is always good. Wish they were more like a NJ Greek diner with better entrees and more Greek food.

Saya K.

Yelp
My husband and I went for an early Saturday morning breakfast today. They were not many people there which was just fine. We do realize this place gets pretty crowded quickly. I ordered a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs which came with home fries and toast. When it arrived it was Stone Cold and I mean everything was cold the home fries were ice cold the toast was burnt it somehow cold with butter glopped on it. The eggs were tapping at best. On our waitress return the item to the kitchen you could hear the gentleman in the back yelling things that should not be heard in an establishment. I do understand this may be the Mystique of a diner but was totally unappropriate and everyone could hear. Shaming your guest is never acceptable. When the meal returned guess what it was still cold. The only redeeming quality of this visit was our waitress it was kind caring and very apologetic for something that was not her fault. This establishment has been around for years and was a great place to go back in the day. However the last few visits have been horrible. Needless to say we will not be returning

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Not sure why anyone gives this place any more than one star. Arrived at 12:25 and was seated and waited on within 5-10 minutes which was good. Then downhill from there. Waited an hour for food that was pretty bad. It took 40 minutes just to get a water. The waitress was yelling at a customer to "put his shoes on". I would understand busy but this was beyond that. We ordered a basic burger and an omelette. The omelette was a scrambled egg which was cold. The burger was a sloppy mess. After 50 minutes I asked about our food. The waitress proceeded to the next table to tell the customers I was in a hurry . The whole experience just felt awful. Wish I had hit a fast food drive thru instead l.

Renee J T.

Yelp
This is a real classic diner and it's a cash only From its looks to its food It's all good I've been here a few times and just the last visit I realized they have a big parking lot just to the right rear of the diner It can be crowded on a Sunday brunch time but the line moves fast It's good food all around Classic French toast is my favorite My son had the banana foster French toast our last visit fresh cut banana with a surprisingly tasty syrup. It's a tasty change from regular French toast. Not heavy The menu has classic diner food offerings Burgers, eggs, grilled cheeses Prices are reasonable I like the hours this diner keeps need breakfast at 11pm head on over Service is always friendly

Rachel S.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for dinner on a Friday. Ordered the Manhattan clam chowder as an appetizer, their Florentine omelette with wheat toast, and their strawberry shortcake dessert. My friend ordered a side of coleslaw, their fish sandwich with mac n cheese, and a slice of their apple pie for dessert. What's Hot - Price. Total came out to under $30 for 2 people. Not a bad bargain. Most of their menu items are under $10, which is affordable. - Layout. There are plenty of booths that can seat 2-4 people and they have a counter. Convenient and helpful. Looks like they're ready for people in a rush and for people who are going to take more time. - Parking. There's a small parking lot behind the store that can hold 5-6 cars. There's another parking lot between the post office and the apartment building on the block next to the diner, as well. That there is parking available is pretty helpful! - Menu. Breakfast served all day. I love breakfast, so that I can have breakfast for dinner is definitely a winner. There's something for everyone- kids menu, soups, meats, veggies, fish, and desserts. My friend was observing Lent, so he couldn't eat meat. Thankfully, this place had plenty of accommodations in the menu. - Service. Aside from what I address below, their service is dependable and helpful. Our waitress answered our questions regarding the desserts available, refilled my friend's coffee when needed, and came over when we flagged her down. Their hours are very convenient, as well! They're open early and late on the weekdays and 24 hrs on the weekends. - Quality. The hash browns that came with my omelette were pretty good. Kinda crunchy exterior and soft on the inside. The strawberry shortcake was pretty good, too and came with some strawberries on the side. Not fresh strawberries, though. My friend's apple pie was soft, but didn't look like it was made by the diner. It's not the best food I've ever had and the flavor doesn't stand out. Flavor of their food is decent and dependable (ie: you always know what you're getting). What's Not - Quality. It's not bad, but I've had better. For example, my omelette was kinda tough. It wasn't soft and fluffy. The cheese wasn't spread throughout the entire omelette. It looks like they put a piece of sliced provolone cheese in my omelette, rather than spreading shredded cheese throughout the entire omelette. The mushrooms in my omelette were also canned mushrooms, instead of fresh mushrooms. The Manhattan clam chowder was watery and not very flavorful. In other words, the flavor of the food isn't the best. - Service. It's kind of self-serve. When I arrived, I was able to pick out a booth. However, none of the staff offered me any menus. I had to go to the front and ask for menus. It looks like you may need to fend for yourself when you first get there. I saw other customers come in and kind of do the same, which gives me the impression that this place is geared towards the locals (ie: customers who have been here before and know how they operate). Not necessarily a bad thing, but be prepared if you're a newbie. Their staff don't check in on you unless you flag them down. They also leave you alone once they give you the check. I prefer places where their staff check in on you and will still refill your water while you're still socializing. That's just me. - Hot sauce. They have sauce, but it's very weak and not very spicy. I don't remember the brand, but it looks like they only carry 1 brand of hot sauce, too. I love spicy foods, so just be aware that if you're a fan, you won't get satisfied here. Final Answer Willing to come back, but not the top of my list.

Nick N.

Yelp
A good, traditional diner with with good diner food. Unbelievably bad service and bad attitudes from a majority of the staff. Be prepared to spend 1.5-2 hours here, at least 1:15 of that while seated. Once we ordered, it took close to an hour for our food to come out

Julia N.

Yelp
I went here late night after a night out with some friends. For this being one of the only options open after the bars were closed, I'd say it was a good experience for the convenient hours. Food - The Cheeseburger and French Fries were average - what you can expect from basically any place that sells burgers and fries. Service - The service was very fast. They sure made it a point to keep things moving. Atmosphere - Typical diner setting. The bathroom was not the cleanest but then again I was there at an odd time.

Katie M.

Yelp
It's a diner. Cheap, fast, delicious food. Nothing special just diner food. You get what you expect! Friendly service. Omelettes are solid, if you get something with homefries as for them extra crispy! All this food was $35.

abby b.

Yelp
Usually I only like to leave good reviews but I just have a few complaints. At first the service was pretty bad, the host continued small talk and I had to ask if it was self seating. Then, the waitress was in a horrible mood and very hostile. Our food initially looked good but the bottom of my eggs were black (not burnt) and the omelette was burnt along with both of our toasts. Pie was mediocre. Waitresses were sassy to other tables as I listened. Overall not very happy with experience and was excited to try it out :(.

Jon C.

Yelp
Excellent local diner! Friendly and comfortable. Breakfast is my favorite with great diner coffee. Greek food is the go to after breakfasts. Parking makes it super easy for a quick, solid, affordable meal. Ritters is a gem.

Alan W.

Yelp
Wife and I went here for dinner the other night. I had the Baked cod with french fries and a house salad. The place is pretty big and has plenty of seating. The waitress was very friendly and service was excellent. The cod was really good and the salad as well was good. The prices were good and overall I was extremely happy with Ritters. The only negative aspect was that they only took cash which wife and I did not know in advance, Luckily we had some with us. *****cash only establishment**** There is however a ATM by the front entrance. i definitely would recommend Ritters Diner and you can be sure I will be going there again.

Andrew L.

Yelp
When the subject of Diners in Pittsburgh comes up, one thinks first of Pamela's. Ritter's came as a recommended alternative and I was pleased to discover it. On a weekday morning, Ritter's was not at all crowded for breakfast. I ordered the two eggs breakfast with scrambled eggs. It came with breakfast potatoes, sausage and rye toast. Service was friendly and quick, with unlimited coffee. All was good and in generous quantity. I must note the link sausage was of a more generous size than often encountered. The offstreet parking lot is brilliant. The menu is quite reasonably priced. Ritter's accepts cash only. An ATM is on the premises.

Matt R.

Yelp
Could not bite through the chicken in the chicken parm sandwich. I've had their breakfast before but this was disappointing

Ed P.

Yelp
Had a great breakfast with our cousins here a couple of weeks ago at the end of a Pittsburgh trip. My gyro omelette and my wife's feta omelette were both very good, Breakfast turned into brunch, and we even ran into the early lunch crowd, but our server never rushed us, kept our coffee mugs full, and was very friendly.

Laura T.

Yelp
We came for Friday morning breakfast at 10 and I was surprised to see how bustling was! Clearly a neighborhood favorite among long-time residents. The major draw for me was how cheap everything was- you could get a full meal for probably under $5! We got coleslaw, 3 spanikopita, a pancake, 2 eggs, toast, hash browns, and 2 coffees for under $20. That was thrilling in itself, especially among all the newer more expensive places coming to the area! And the restaurant is open 24/7 so you can always get your cheap fix. It was also quite clean for a diner, and they had fun individual juke boxes on each table so bring 50¢! There weren't many creative options for vegetarians, but you could definitely get by with any sort of egg/cheese/bread/potato combination for breakfast. They serve lunch and dinner 24/7 as well, and the veg options looked sparser for this part of the menu. Vegans would have an even tougher time. The major downside for Ritters was how slow service was. We probably spent longer here than we would at a nice dinner, so be warned to only come when you have ample time. The servers are extremely nice and hardworking, though! I'll probably be back for another lazy breakfast.
