Ritz Diner

The best traditional Diner in Manhattan. Lived here comparatively short time (2 years) but we've tried a number of diners. No where else excels in every way like the Ritz. Staff friendliness, food quality and speed of service. If you're a Brit like me growing up with American TV it's the diner experience you dream of. It's off the beaten track of tourist traps and has retained it's indelible NY charm. Every one of our visiting friends and family agree, it's the best place to go. Thanks for a great 2 years Ritz.

Food 6/10 Nutella banana pancakes hit. Carrot cake also hit. Hot water also hit. Very large menu. Atmosphere 9/10 Diner vibes. Love the neon lights outside and the booths. Service 7/10 Good stuff. Friendly and 24/7 open.

Authentic burger joint! Tasty food and large portions. Very good value for money, friendly service - definitely recommended. 👌🏼

Came to ritz diner just to try it out and it was pretty decent. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap with a side of fries and it was pretty good! The fries were great! Other items ordered at the table were the chicken pot pie, fish and chips, and pastrami sandwich. Two of the orders (fish and chips and pastrami) came as lunch specials with a side of soup and soda. I tried the matzo ball soup and found it pretty flavorless. The chicken pot pie has a good filling but the crust is so thick it seemed underdone. It was so chewy and a really big turn off. Our server was friendly. Our seats were in a spot where the sun hit constantly, I’d really love to see them get some shades or something because it was really uncomfortable sitting there at times. I’d definitely go back to try something new and to get those fries again!

The best thing about the Ritz Diner is that you can order practically anything at anytime. I think they serve some of the best fries I’ve had on the upper east side. The portions are huge and filling; the wrap was almost unwieldy. And in true diner fashion, service is very quick and the food came out with hardly a wait.

This was a repeat performance, everything was fresh and delicious … I would recommend the Ritz Diner, I am big on consistency and they were consistent. If you want high-class, don’t go to a diner … if you want consistency, friendly, and delicious food, go to the Ritz Diner!

Just amazing! Really loved the experience I had here. Was welcomed with a smile, the food was delicious and the ambience just what you want in an American diner experience! Went there 3 times in a week and I'm still dreaming about those delicious pancakes and french toast! Staff was very nice and even recognised us each time we went back! Definitely recommend this.

I arrived at 9:40am.. the place seats around 60 people and was 80% full at the time. They were able to seat me right away Service was really fast: Coffee came within 1 minute Food Came really in less than 5 minutes Menu has tons of choices. I ordered the Pepper Jack cheese and sausage omelette: The taste wasn't great but was palatable. The eggs were a bit overcooked and dry, but the table had a wide variety of hot sauces available to add some taste and moisture. The food presentation quality was poor as one would expect at a divey diner. Within 20 minutes of sitting down, I was given the final check to take up front and pay. lingered a bit longer to write this review. In summary, there were no surprises: this is exactly what one should expect at a divey local diner. If it were any better, it might ruin the ambiance. I'll be back.

French onion soup was inedible had 1 bite and has to toss it. It was like boiled water w onions in it truly diagusting. Curly fries no seasoned at all even ketchup couldnt save it. Burger was eh ate half cause my soup and fries was a disaster

Ritz Diner is one of my favorite diners! The variety of food items is extensive & delicious, from breakfast through dinner, including desserts & hot & cold drinks! My go-to is almost always the Turkey dinner with 'All' the trimmings & more but this time I had the chicken pot pie. It was oval shaped, enormous, creamy & delicious, soup & salad & dessert included & always a complimentary bread & butter basket. The egg creams are always great & my bread pudding was good. The staff is always very attentive & our waitress was very friendly & accommodating, good conversation included. The Ritz is almost always full & the place is simply decorated, well lit & clean with lots of tables, booths & counter seating. You must eat here if you want good, satisfying comfort food. It's like going home to grandma's to eat & you'll definitely be taking home a large doggie bag for tomorrow's lunch!

I want to take a star off because WE MISS THE OLD VINTAGE NEON SIGN but I won't. Service is great, food is overpriced but still a great old/fashioned diner experience.

I love old New York City diners. They are often charming, with delicious food, in that throwback to yesteryear when servers were wise-cracks, cooks were gruff and everything was a bit gritty adding to the lure. The Ritz was none of that. It's only redeeming quality is that it was a block from the animal hospital and open at 5 a.m. when we had to take our dog in for surgery. The service was BAD, and not in the good-bad way. The server was just annoying, without much presence or likability and seemed like she hated her job and life. The food was the worst diner food I've ever had. Not sure how this place is still open, given the quality of the food (almost inedible. There's nothing classic about this NY diner. It's just a bad restaurant masking as the opposite of don't judge a book by it's cover. By it's cover it should have been great. In reality, it was so dreadful.

Stumbled in here at around 1 am and it was decent. I think it depends on what you get. The service is pretty good. Our food came out fast and they were really speedy on coffee refills. I ordered the BLT it was pretty sad. Mostly lettuce and bread My bf got the cc pancakes which slapped so hard. The price was pretty decent and it was classic diner ambiance i suppose.

I went with a friend on a Sunday around 1:30 pm and it was really busy but we only needed to wait for 5 minutes to get a table. They have a special price of $20 for including a main plate, a drink and some fresh fruit. We were feeling really hungry so we had the TWO EGG BROCOLI OMELET, EGGS BENEDICT, (which come with fried potatoes) AND BANANA NUTELLA PANCAKES. They also have the whole menu which is huge! Food was good, I would say similar to any decent dinner. They ran out of oranges so I could not get any fresh juice containing orange. However, they offered a substitution for other type of fruit. The juice was fresh. The staff is nice, in particular, we had this female server who was very considerate, she also gave us more nutella for the pancakes and refillable coffee upon request. ESPAÑOL: Fui con un amigo en un domingo sore la 1:30pm y estaba bastante lleno aunque tan solo tuvimos que esperar 5 minutos por una mesa. Tienen un menu especial de brunch for $20 que incluye un plato principal, una bebida y fruta fresca. Además, tienen el menú completo que es enorme. Teníamos mucha hambre así que nos pedimos la TORTILLA DE DOS HUEVOS Y BROCOLI, HUEVOS BENEDICTOS, (que vienen con patatas fritas), y PANQUEQUES DE BANANA Y NUTELLA. La comida estaba buena, yo diría que similar a cualquier dinner decente. Se les habían acabado las naranjas pero me ofrecieron cambiarlas por otro tipo de zumos frescos. El personal es amable, en particular una camarera que fue mi paciente y considerada, además nos trajo más nutella para los panqueques y rellenar el café cuando se lo pedimos.

We've had lunch here a couple of times, dinner here twice, likely won't come back. Food, great for a diner. This trip I had the spanakopita platter, comes with a small Greek salad. Delicious! Hubs had a vegetable omelet, it was vg and full of veggies, came with toast and potatoes. Service was great. But the ambiance, for a public restaurant in a diverse neighborhood, was weird. There was a religious radio station playing in the background over the speakers. If I want to hear about religion, I'll go to a church, a synagogue, a mosque. I don't expect that while I'm having dinner out.

Ritz diner was a very welcoming little diner perfect for breakfast ! Attentive wait staff, very delicious breakfast as well . Eggs cooked exactly as we ordered them , home fries so very good with delicious coffee . Priced normal for a breakfast . Ritz was clean , fully stocked condiments and delicious looking pastries and muffins !!! We did not have room for dessert after very satisfying breakfast plates ! Will def visit again when on the area ! Don't sleep on this little gem !!!

It's open 24 hours and the servers are nice. A great place to go for reliable diner food in a pinch. the ambiance is very casual. The chocolate and banana pancakes(3) were good. The bathrooms are not accessible.

Ritz is old school cool. Good service, cheap food, good location, tiny bathroom. I love it.

Well as you all know or maybe not I love diners especially in the big apple NYC. After I took my friend to her doctor's appointment we were starved. I said diner food feels right she said oh yeah. Well I enjoyed my tomato spinach omelette made with four eggs and yes a bold ice coffee. My omelette was made just right delicious and the ice coffee was perfect.

No. Go somewhere else. BECAUSE OF THE SERVICE I RECEIVED. THIS IS ABOUT THE SERVICE. Let me be clear--I DID NOT GET SICK FROM EATING THE SOUP. I DID NOT GET SICK FROM ANY FOOD PURCHASED HERE. I had been sick, and weak, for days. So, when I finally wanted to eat something, I wanted some soup. I did (in person) TAKE-OUT, and I had their matzo ball soup; good I asked for salt packages, after I asked if the soup was salty. When they said they do not add salt, or said very lightly seasoned, I asked for salt packages on the side. That's ok. I added salt when I got home. Matzo ball was good, light . The next day or so, still weak/sick, I was outside, getting a take-out sandwich, about 2 blocks away, and I called to ask if they had matzo ball soup. I was outside, and the guy on the phone says yes, we have matzo ball soup tonight, and today, and tomorrow...and I start to cough, he hung up on me. I called back, furious, because I was sick, and had just picked up a sandwich, and my appetite was alive, which was great, so I wanted to go get the soup. So, I call back--"Why did you hang up on me??!!!" The Ritz Diner guy says: "You think I want to hear you cough?!" Really???!!! Customer service was in the garbage!! I'm calling about SOUP-did it ever occur to you That may be the person calling is sick????!!!! Apparently not!! And I have not done any business at THE RITZ DINER SINCE THAT STUPIDITY. Done!! If you can be that rude, you can keep your soup. Too bad, because there was at least one nice guy in there the first time I bought the soup, and when I asked if it was canned soup, he said, oh no, never, it's made from scratch. That guy was nice. But, PHONE GUY WAS BAD!!! And that's a why I'm not going there . Rudeness has no place in a service industry. Or anywhere else.

Ritz is a classic NY diner. Enjoyable, charming, and the food is great. I had some time to kill today and looked for a diner to collect thoughts and enjoy some wonderful bad coffee and do a little writing. That's the joy of a diner. It's like a prayer room that has breakfast all day. In todays world too often are diners blasting tunes, weirdly don't have breakfast all day (a cardinal sin) or simply are insanely expensive. The ritz is non of these. My waitress was warm and inviting and called me honey like you'd expect at a classic diner. Highly recommend as someone who walked into every diner for the last 20 blocks.

Cute diner and we ordered the banana pancakes (with chocolate chips sprinkled on top) and the scrambled egg wrap. Both items were great, they really hit the spot!

My sister took me here while I was visiting and I loved it! The menu is very extensive which was the craziest part for such a small place. Service was great too! The waiters are so kind and you're never rushed. They continually filled up our water even when we were just talking after our meal. You can also tell this place has some solid regulars and if has a comfy and welcoming vibe.

Thank you so much for such great service. I arrived early and everyone was already making sure that my drinks and food were ordered and arrived on time. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The place is very cute, traditional and welcoming. I enjoyed that it wasn't too big of a space because it gives an additional "cozy" feel. I ordered a chicken wrap and WOW it was great, I didn't even have time to take a picture of it because of how hungry I was. I think everything is reasonably priced and I think the workers are great! Next time I'm in the area I will definitely come back and I recommend this place to whoever is in the area. The pancakes look like a must try for my next visit. Cannot wait to be back thank you again!

Been here twice now and have had a solid experience both times. It's a classic NYC diner vibe with great breakfast and lunch options. Service is great and employees are friendly. I got some of the best onion rings I've ever had. I'll continue to check this spot out on Sunday mornings in Lenox Hill.

I am very picky about French onion soup, but this one was delicious! Not too salty and piping hot just as I like it. Ordered a turkey club sandwich and it was enough for 2 people, came with a side of coleslaw (sooo good!), pickle spear and French fries. Our server was friendly and quick to take our order. Our table had a front row view of street traffic which is what we were looking for.

Perfect Manhattan diner. Iconic diner look from the outside while being fairly large on the inside. It's like a House of Leaves situation, I don't know how they fit all that space inside that building. HUGE menu, solid coffee, great staff. If you are looking for a place to pop into and get off the street for a bit while feeling like you are in an Edward Hopper painting, the Ritz is the place to go.

Worst place ever. Tried to like a single thing here. Absolutely not worth eating. How do you make an omelet, grits, and bagel Terrible? I don't know but they sure did at Ritz dinner.

After tonight, if no star is an option, I'll go with it. It seems that the Ritz has changed hands, and whoever has it doesn't understand that their business is in NYC and not a remote little village somewhere in Greece. Many times, I've eaten there accompanied by my service dog and have always tipped generously. That being said, I've never had a problem being served in Manhattan, even the best restaurants. Nobody has ever disrespected us or asked private questions about my disability or why my dog is service... until tonight. Although, as I mentioned before, I've eaten there before, tonight as I step in, I'm immediately denied entry. I go ahead to explain that they have nothing to worry about and that my puppy is trained and service, but their manager steps in to assure me that pets are not allowed. I explain that there's a difference between a pet and a service dog...and he goes as far as to tell me that I can't have a service animal because I don't look like a disabled person. I've never had to pull out my hearing aids off of my ears to justify having a hearing dog until tonight, and I regret doing it. I regret also not calling the police on them. I should have. But I'm writing this. Don't go there. Don't eat there. Don't give them your money. They don't have a remote idea about what respect is.

I have to say I was really impressed by this unassuming little corner diner. The waitress was an absolute delight. The place was clean and bright. The food was good diner fair. Highly recommend.

The food here is mediocre. I have passed by this diner for too long and decided I would finally give it a try. You step inside and it feels like you're back in the 1980's. I liked the cozy, older look. 2 eggs any style with french fries was $10.25 and then the bacon was an extra $3. A little pricey especially when the bacon wasn't fresh. The free orange juice they give you in the morning comes in a small glass and I wish they gave me a little more. The hostess was very nice and pleasant. I would only come back here if I lived in the neighborhood.

Yelp delivered to wrong address. Restaurant would not resend order... I contacted delivery service and they refused to resend or let me pick up order. Restaurant was kind enough to resend order. I appreciate it. Burger was delicious thank you.

Went here on a Saturday night. They had Challah in the bread basket...was delicious. So was pasta w garlic oil and Broccoli. Waitress was nice and good w a big group. Made a fresh pot of coffee for us too. Yummy hot crunchy fries. ​​

We mostly chose Ritz because of the location. It was where we were going to be at breakfast time and they were open for business. Not too busy on a Saturday morning, we chose a nice booth by the window. It is nice that they still have the plexiglass partitions up between booths not just for COVID but also for noise. It was quiet and we had a good meal. I know enough to stick to the classics when at a diner that has 500+ different things on the menu. I had the sausage and pepperjack omelet with potatoes and toast. My friend chose a spinach salad because she said she needs her veggies. Our meals arrived promptly and were HUGE portions. My omelet was delicious with plenty of cheese and plenty of sausage. A big portion of home fries on the side and the toast was done to the right amount of toastiness. The table had a good selection of condiments including ketchup and a variety of hot sauces. Lovely. Coffee was good but because we took this out of the way table, we did have to get up to bring our waiter over for a refill. That was the only ding in our service and that's okay. We were just happy that he showed up to work this morning and he was pleasant and patient and otherwise attentive. A very nice meal and we're glad to have visited Ritz this morning. It's definitely my go-to place for a late night meal! They have healthy options but it's the desserts where they really shine! The ambiance after midnight is mostly calm which I like! The staff is prompt even during breakfast rush!

Perfect 24 hour diner for a late night bite or an early morning bite or a mid afternoon lunch or ... oh just go here. Their dishes are a little pricy but it satisfies our craving for a good meal at any odd time of the day.

It was pretty good! Had challah French toast a/ sausage. Don't regret it, very fluffy and flavorful French toast, sausage was decent! Nice little place, service was friendly but a little slow.

This is my go-to diner spot in the city. Open 24/7 (yes, really!), they never ever disappoint, probably because their diner menu is the most extensive one I have EVER seen. They happen to be pretty close to where I live, so it's a great spot to come to after a night out, or after a long day. There's often people dining alone so I love that I can come by myself or with friends. I've even taken out-of-towners here because it's that solid of a diner option (if that's what your friends are into). My favorite here is the french onion soup because of how much cheese is melted on top. I also love that their pancakes can come with fresh fruit either on top or mixed into the batter. Their omelets are large and the service is impeccable! An easy 5 stars.

WOOF. Worse than I could've imagined. 1 star because there wasn't one part of this meal that was even slightly good. -The Matzah ball soup was wretchedly bland. It was also delivered with 50% of the soup spilled into the delivery bag (photos attached). -The $7 grilled cheese was cold, an obvious rip-off and waste of money for the poor quality you get. -French fries were unfortunate. Soggy and cold. -Ordered a blueberry muffin and was given a corn muffin. -They packed the cheesecake a la mode for delivery both in the same container so it ended up being cheesecake sitting in an ice cream SOUP. Went right in the garbage. I rarely leave 1 star reviews so this sucked to write but hopefully it saves someone else from spending $35+ on garbage.

I've lived steps away from this diner for four years and tried it for the first time two weeks ago. I'm an idiot! I should have come here sooner. Brought my brother when he was visiting. If you're craving tuna melt I recommend it with the rye and cheddar. Also got the most perfect side of fries and an ice latte. Magnificent classic diner.

Going to be honest here, don't give 5 stars unless I really think the establishment earned it, and this diner earned it with their vanilla milkshake! So delicious! Otherwise, overall a 4.5/5 star experience but will round up for the milkshake. Service - very attentive, sometimes too quick but that's how it is at peak time on a Sunday for brunch! Food - pretty delicious, got the 3-egg omelette combo (Italian omelette) - the toast was kinda cold and the potatoes were lacking a bit but overall it was freshly made and better than another diner I recently had in the area, as well. Overall, loved the vibes of this place and my date and I are definitely going to be returning (with another milkshake of course!)

Love this local diner in the UES! They are open 24/7 and the staff is very friendly. Prices are reasonable and there are so many great options to choose from! The waffles are so good! I am also a fan of the eggs over easy and it comes with toast and potatoes.

This may be just what you want when you're seeking an authentic NYC diner. Menu is somewhat more limited than the usual voluminous diner menu, but it works for the Ritz Diner.

"A Blast From the Past" for sure. I lived in that area about 40 years ago, and I felt lke I'd gone back in time. The decor is not one of those "trendy diners" trying to be upscale. It's a diner and looks like a diner. It has a menu that includes everything a dinre should. Not just the decor, but the food was like it was in the old days (huge servings), and although the prices weren't like 40 years ago....they were very "pre pandemic", The service was wonderful. I assumed our waiter "was mgmt". He said he like me, so he gave me extra! This is a great casual place. If you like good food and good prices....with friendly staff, this is for you!

Was out shopping for a couple of things at TJ Maxx under the 59th Street bridge. Was about 8 O'clock and was definitely time for some nourishment. Wanted something easy. Heard about Ritz Diner. Walked cross the street and saw it was not that crowded. Great for social distancing. They even had plexiglass between the booths. Great to reduce to the chances of C-19. Waiter came over with menus. Asked about beverage choice. Stuck with water. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger medium deluxe. Food too a bit of time to come since there were many take out orders being lined up. Service was standard and the food ok. Wasn't a fan of the red cabbage slaw. Go back? Perhaps. Definitely a good diner choice. Nothing fancy though.

This diner is one of my comfort cute small cozy style places to go by and eat without having to think twice about the service or food your going to get. There service is great and attentive, and of course with it being a diner you get to choose many options available. The taste of the food is regular, not so exciting or anything like that (reg typical diner style).

Your local diner is likely one of the most important culinary establishments in one's neighborhood. There are a few within a few blocks of our apartment, but the Ritz diner remains our go-to time and time again. Whether it be for a hungover breakfast on a Saturday morning, a late night snack, or the perfect Sunday evening "diet-starts Monday" feast, Ritz diner is the perfect place to go and enjoy a great meal served by wonderful, friendly staff. This diner is the kind of place that always seems full, but we have never waited for a table. They are timely, but you never feel rushed. And the onion rings, I have no words. 100% perfect will do though. I am sure I will find myself back at the ritz diner very very soon!

$21 great price for so much! Can serve 3 people. The sauce was actually really good, definitely homemade you can tell, bonus. The chicken was medium thin, they give you two big cutlets with this order. Breaded and fried. The cheese was nice and melted. Yes it came with Parmesan cheese in a separate container on the side. This came with soup or salad and a fresh Italian roll! Recommend they took a little while but it's pretty far from my address so I can't complain,
