20 Best Culinary Experiences and Food Tours in Paris

"If the culinary vision of Auguste Escoffier established the Ritz Paris as a dining institution more than 120 years ago, it’s the creative talent of François Perret, the hotel’s pastry chef since 2015, that has anchored its role as food destination today. That was clear from the chef's grand Tea Time menu and plated desserts at the hotel and now it's clear from Le Comptoir, the hotel's pastry shop helmed by Perret. The peach-colored shop features a long molded counter and brushed brass alcoves filled with giftable items, from candles to Champagne, a leather banquette for on-site snacking, as well as a striking series of curved Bohemian crystal light fixtures that nod to the chef’s signature treat: the madeleine. We advise you leave with a collection of Perret's signature Madeleines (keep in mind, he rolls out limited edition varieties at major holidays), the cake marbré, and one of the cake shakes (although perhaps it's best not to consume all of these at once)." - Catherine Down, Lindsey Tramuta

The 15 Best Patisseries in Paris for Croissants, Cakes, and Eclairs | Eater

"It may require a significant splurge to take in the whole tea-time experience at the Ritz Paris’s Salon Proust, but you can access head pastry chef François Perret’s treats at a more reasonable price tag at the hotel’s very own pastry shop. His signature glazed madeleines are available in seven flavors, including fruit fillings. There are also creamy entremets (little cakes with layers of mousse), oversized cookies, tartes, and drinkable versions of Perret’s best-selling pastries (essentially luxurious milkshakes) from the Salon Proust tea time menu. Located in the 1st arrondissement." - Dayna Evans

Beautiful location with beautiful & delicious desserts. Felt like a fine-dining experience ✨ We stood in line because we wanted to have a table to enjoy. We ordered the Mille Fieulle & Entrement Marblè Noisette and 2 Madelines to go. The total came out to 57 euros, which, of course, is more than the standard dessert :) The iced lattes were the best we’ve had in Paris thus far!!

Gorgeous interior, but with so few tables, you're unlikely to enjoy it unless you're willing to wait in a long queue. As for takeout, it's hard to recommend. The pastries are good, but at these prices, you'd expect something truly exceptional. I’ve had similar, or better quality pastries elsewhere for less than half the price Ritz Le Comptoir is charging.

Long waiting times — around 45–50 minutes. The pastry is hit or miss: you might really love it, or find it just average. It's inconsistent and depends on what you choose. The madeleine was 4.5/5. Coffee was more like a 3/5 — not great, maybe even 2.5/5. The interior is beautiful, no doubt — a truly luxurious place. If you already know what you like, don’t waste time waiting. Grab it to go and enjoy it outside, at home, or in your hotel if you’re a tourist.

Google
had high expectations for the Ritz Paris, but unfortunately, it was quite a disappointment. The pastries looked beautiful but were below average in taste—definitely not worth the hype. I also ordered a flat white, which came with more foam than a cappuccino, completely missing the mark and not to mention it was a bad coffee. On top of that, everything was extremely overpriced for what it was. The only saving grace was the service, which was excellent. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I am always left speechless anytime I try anything from Ritz Comptoir. I would say this is my favourite luxury patisserie in Paris so far that I have tried. The way the chef has reimagined the classics - no words! Just delicious !

My dream pastry shop I recently had the pleasure of visiting a place that had been on my list of must-try establishments for quite some time. I was fortunate enough to arrive during a quiet early morning, allowing me to savor my coffee alongside the riz au lait. The flavors were truly exceptional, and I thoroughly enjoyed every single bite. The service was absolutely phenomenal. The attention to detail was truly top-notch. I also took away a croissant, a pain au chocolat, and a sandwich. I consumed them the following day, and they were still incredibly delicious.

We stopped by for a pickup, and the experience was seamless—the queue moved quickly, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We ordered a variety of sweets, and every single one was phenomenal. The croissants were not only some of the best-tasting but also uniquely crafted, making them a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The madeleines, however, stole the show—each bite was pure perfection, and we couldn’t get enough! The coffee was exceptional, perfectly complementing the amazing treats. Overall, the service, the flavors, and the entire experience were absolutely top-notch. We can’t wait to come back for more!

The interior is beautifully designed, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The mille-feuille was absolutely delicious—rich, delicate, and worth trying, though on the pricier side. Coffee was smooth and tasty. The giant madeleine was below average. We waited about 30 minutes for a table which I felt isn’t worth the experience.
