20 Best Culinary Experiences and Food Tours in Paris

"If the culinary vision of Auguste Escoffier established the Ritz Paris as a dining institution more than 120 years ago, it’s the creative talent of François Perret, the hotel’s pastry chef since 2015, that has anchored its role as food destination today. That was clear from the chef's grand Tea Time menu and plated desserts at the hotel and now it's clear from Le Comptoir, the hotel's pastry shop helmed by Perret. The peach-colored shop features a long molded counter and brushed brass alcoves filled with giftable items, from candles to Champagne, a leather banquette for on-site snacking, as well as a striking series of curved Bohemian crystal light fixtures that nod to the chef’s signature treat: the madeleine. We advise you leave with a collection of Perret's signature Madeleines (keep in mind, he rolls out limited edition varieties at major holidays), the cake marbré, and one of the cake shakes (although perhaps it's best not to consume all of these at once)." - Catherine Down, Lindsey Tramuta

The 15 Best Patisseries in Paris for Croissants, Cakes, and Eclairs | Eater

"It may require a significant splurge to take in the whole tea-time experience at the Ritz Paris’s Salon Proust, but you can access head pastry chef François Perret’s treats at a more reasonable price tag at the hotel’s very own pastry shop. His signature glazed madeleines are available in seven flavors, including fruit fillings. There are also creamy entremets (little cakes with layers of mousse), oversized cookies, tartes, and drinkable versions of Perret’s best-selling pastries (essentially luxurious milkshakes) from the Salon Proust tea time menu. Located in the 1st arrondissement." - Dayna Evans

We stopped by midmorning for some coffee and pastries...mainly to try their famous stick croissant. The café has an elegant, refined vibe with friendly staff who welcomed us right in. We ordered the stick pain au chocolat, which looked promising but turned out to be just okay. Maybe we should've stuck with their stick croissant? However, the lemon tart and shiny madeleine totally made up for it—both were delicious and beautifully done. It’s a lovely little stop to rest your feet after shopping or fuel up before diving back in. Nothing over the top, but definitely worth a visit for a calm, tasty break in between your retail therapy.

Google
Non-traditional take on croissant by Ritz. In general, star properties make the pastries look good, but they get the flavor and texture completely wrong. Ritz breaks that trend. This has to be one of the best croissants I ever had in France. Dont miss their chocolate croissant as well. It will give the best Pain au Chocolats of Paris a run for their money :)

Super place in heart of Paris, I've felt like in sweet paradise. The taste of the Madeleine was perfect and the tart is wow unbelievable. The price of the Madeleines is super high, but believe me it's worth it. I'm a visitor from Lebanon where excellent sweets are provided, but if you want to try the French sweets you have to pay a visit to this wonderful place.

Le Comptoir du Ritz is pure Parisian excellence. Every detail — from the presentation to the service — reflects the timeless elegance of the Ritz. The pastries are exquisite, refined, and crafted with extraordinary precision. Each creation is a small work of art, both visually stunning and full of flavor. The staff are graceful and attentive, adding to the sense of refinement that defines the Ritz experience. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates true craftsmanship in pastry and service. Simply unforgettable.

Google
The place is great and the staff are very friendly. The prices are on the higher side, but the quality matches—definitely worth it. The jambon emmental is unique, and the pain au chocolat tastes amazing. I recommend getting takeaway since seating is limited and the wait for a table can be long. Worth it for the food, but not worth standing in line just to dine in.

Google
The location is, unfortunately, overrated. We waited almost an hour just to get a table, and once seated (we were four people), the tables turned out to be very small — barely enough space for the desserts and drinks. It felt uncomfortable and made the service awkward. Desserts are served on a piece of cardboard, left on a tray, just like in a fast-food place — completely out of place for a venue carrying the name “Ritz.” The food itself was decent, but it doesn’t justify the prices or the effort of waiting that long. When you hear “Ritz,” you expect elegance, refinement, and flawless service — unfortunately, our experience was far from that. The atmosphere felt more like a neighborhood café, yet with Ritz-level prices. A pity for the time lost.

Google
The croissant is exceptional, the coffee is perfect and the madeleines are extraordinary. If you want that feeling of awe when you bite into a french pastry, you need to visit here. The croissant looks like a long tube, but it makes the flavour even better than regular croissants. Authentic and creative, and carrying on its culinary heritage with grace.

Google
Beautiful looking shop. I came for a couple of madelines take away. The strawberry one was good, but to be honest, nothing exceptional and could have had more moist in it. The lemon one was on another game though. It was so moist, sugary and really strong lemon flavour. It was excellent!!
