Great Ice cream spot off Jefferson- Stoped by en route back into Detroit and picked up a “small” ice cream cone, when in fact I got the largest swirl of ice cream I’d ever seen. All very creamy and sweet, perfect for a summer day. Can’t ask for anything more.

🗣Dont sleep on your neighborhood Gems… today I tried River Breeze Dairy Freeze for lunch [Nacho/Supreme & Lemon Custard Ice cream] I was well please with my selection. This neighborhood gem has been around for awhile, however, I wasn’t aware they sold food! You all have to go check them out before they close for the winter! Next Wednesday, October 12,2022 is their last day. Customer Service was Outstanding(older couple runs the establishment) Be patient and Be Kind 🥰5⭐️

My family and I love this place. Confused on their hours though, and that sucks since I'm driving across town to usually find that they are closed. The phone number listed goes unanswered.

I love this place. Food is always consistent and of quality. If you’re craving ice cream they have everything from flurries to cones to slushies. I don’t even mess with catfish like that but it’s a must here

This is my go to spot. Not a chain ice cream spot but a regular place for me. I stop here often. It's in the heart of the city and it has a variety of food and dessert to choose from. Awesome service. Everything is amazing from my favorite brownie sundae to my favorite chili dog and fries. In my opinion, this place is a winner

Put the family in the car and get there for Sandwiches to Shakes! Great food to Great staff! Definitely a stopover on the way to Flavor Town!

The BEST ice cream/grill EVER!!! Old school Boston Coolers, original and strawberry! So many flavor varieties! I've been coming here for a few years and I'm always disappointed when they close for the season. Don't miss out on one of Detroit's gems!!!

Mom and Pop run ice cream and custard shop. Run by a sweet elderly couple. Classic twist on a cone satisfied my craving for a sweet summer treat.

Place been there for years and I love love the food and the owners!!! The catfish sandwiches are super delicious!!!! Shakes are awesome!!!

It's been a little hotter than I had anticipated in Detroit. So, of course, I wanted a cool down but not your garden variety I need something delicioso;). River Breeze Dairy Freeze I mean since it rhymes it must be good right? I had a serious craving for a slushy and RBDF is a mom & pop establishment and from my experience, they tend to have the best-frozen treats. Ordered 3 small slushies and 1 small upside down banana split but all the smalls were more like mediums which were a plus. The crazy thing is that everything was so good we came back that evening and got seconds. The only real drawback was the wings I ordered the first time, kind of small and too salty but the homemade ranch was good. Anyway, everything else was pretty much perfect.

Somewhat stumbled onto this place while I was on the east side. In this summer heat I've been craving real soft serve (not fro-yo). This place is old-school, with the sweet, creamy twist cones I grew up eating. They do have some other food, burgers and sausages and nachos and such - I haven't tried them but they smelled pretty delish. They do accept credit cards, which a plus for a place like this in the D, but there's a $0.25 surcharge to use a credit/debit payment; bring cash if that's a problem for you. Overall, if you're looking for a traditional summer experience, I recommend this establishment!

The cat fish sandwich is to die for. Many people come for the ice cream, I only come for the food.

This place is the best! A sweet older couple runs it. They are very polite, patient, and prompt with service. You can find a wide variety of things here, everything from dinner to soft serve ice cream. They also serve hand packed ice cream, the lemon custard is particularly delicious. If you're feeling daring for a summer treat, do yourself a favor and try the cream-a-slush! Slushy and soft serve ice cream... Sounds weird, tastes delicious. They accept credit cards and cash here. Love my little neighborhood ice cream shop!

Very slow service. Had a drunk guy hanging out who would not stop asking for change. Have scooped and soft serve options. Close to Belle Isle is a big benefit. No sit down seating

Cheap ice cream in the neighborhood. Check. Customer service could use a bunch of work. Ordered two ice creams, was given only one spoon, when I asked for another spoon I was told, I already put one in the bag for you...

I love this place ! I look forward to it opening every year. It's ran by the most nicest people ever. I believe they're a family. I always see the elderly couple. And a few times I've seen teenagers. It's a nice spot. I always call ahead though because sometimes it gets busy. They have some of the best Superman ice cream ever. But I've honestly probably had everything on the menu including the food lol.

I love River Freeze Dairy Breeze. I love saying the name. The phonetics alone just give you a good feeling. I remember calling once at around 7:55p on a summer day because I wanted a Boston Cooler, but I thought it may be a little after closing time by the time I got there. I think the posted closing was 8p that summer. Mrs RBDF answered the phone and I told her, I'm on my way! Be there in 5mins. "We'll be here" she replied, in a tired but slightly amused tone. I'd love to pretend they stayed open just for me, but I pulled up and there were at least 8 people still in line. 2 of the many great things about Detroit summers: it's not dark until 9 and River Freeze Dairy Breeze. The sweet seniors who own it will keep scooping up ice cream and frying up catfish until the whole neighborhood has had their fill. They are a jewel in the East Side community. I highly recommend the catfish sandwich with their "hot&tarta" Fries are crisply fried, wings are good, Boston coolers are the best. They have a nice variety of hard packed ice cream. You have to try a cream-a-slush at least once. It's a combo of soft serve ice cream with slushy. It's hard to pull me away from the BC but every once in a while I'll walk on the wild side with that one. Anyway, I'm counting down the days till summer and praying for good health and longevity for Mr & Mrs RBDF.

Loveeeeee this spot!!! Mom and Pop business and they are just the sweetest people! Location is nice and there's usually a line so take your patience but so worth the wait

Absolutely delicious and run by the nicest people I've ever met in my life. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who wants some good ice cream in Jefferson.
