I had the dry version of the prawn noodles ($7), and it was an excellent choice. The noodles were perfectly cooked, with a springy texture that paired beautifully with the rich, savory sauce. Every bite was bursting with umami, enhanced by crispy pork lard and fragrant fried shallots. The prawns were fresh, plump, and sweet—a clear sign of their quality and careful preparation. The accompanying broth, served on the side, was equally impressive—robust, deeply flavorful, and brimming with the essence of prawns.
I also tried the fried fish cake ($1.70), which was a nice side dish. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right—it complemented the noodles well.
One note for those ordering spicy: the chili sauce comes mixed with tomato sauce. Personally, it’s not my favorite combination, but that’s on me—I should have mentioned my preference when ordering. If you’re particular about your spice level or sauce style, it’s worth clarifying upfront.
The new location feels like a significant upgrade. It’s air-conditioned, which makes dining much more comfortable, especially during Singapore’s hot afternoons. The space is cleaner, better organized, and noticeably less crowded than before (I came on a Sunday at 9am), making it a far more pleasant visit without the long waits. Ordering is now streamlined with a buzzer system, which alerts you when your food is ready—a thoughtful touch that ensures efficiency even during peak hours.
