I had the dry version of the prawn noodles ($7), and it was an excellent choice. The noodles were perfectly cooked, with a springy texture that paired beautifully with the rich, savory sauce. Every bite was bursting with umami, enhanced by crispy pork lard and fragrant fried shallots. The prawns were fresh, plump, and sweet—a clear sign of their quality and careful preparation. The accompanying broth, served on the side, was equally impressive—robust, deeply flavorful, and brimming with the essence of prawns. I also tried the fried fish cake ($1.70), which was a nice side dish. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right—it complemented the noodles well. One note for those ordering spicy: the chili sauce comes mixed with tomato sauce. Personally, it’s not my favorite combination, but that’s on me—I should have mentioned my preference when ordering. If you’re particular about your spice level or sauce style, it’s worth clarifying upfront. The new location feels like a significant upgrade. It’s air-conditioned, which makes dining much more comfortable, especially during Singapore’s hot afternoons. The space is cleaner, better organized, and noticeably less crowded than before (I came on a Sunday at 9am), making it a far more pleasant visit without the long waits. Ordering is now streamlined with a buzzer system, which alerts you when your food is ready—a thoughtful touch that ensures efficiency even during peak hours.

We had a great lunch based on what we ordered. Not exactly cheap and its my first time at their new place. Total was about $30+ so its a little costly. Broth was good and prawns were fresh thou mine had only 2 as its with clams. Luckily for us overall its a great meal so at least $$ wasnt over a bad meal.

broth is more pork base than prawn, of the saltier variation as compared the competitions out there but tasty nonetheless. noodles were cooked well, proteins were not consistent. large prawns were sweet but powdery, the smaller ones were cartoonishly small for the price paid. pork ribs were well marinated and tender but lean meat was tough and dry. small intestines were well cleaned but only 4 pieces were given for an $8 bowl. worth a try, but for the price paid there are better options out there.

Atmosphere- It’s relocated to opposite the former coffeeshop where this place is air conditioning. Came on a weekend evening not very crowded. Food- ordered small prawn $6 & $8 and it’s a good portion. I don’t feel thirsty after drinking it.its savoury, the rich flavourful taste of the prawn soup makes me finished up the soup. They uses Swa Lor for small prawns and live prawn for Big prawns. Wu Xiang cost $10 which each item cost about $2. Service- the lady has a good service. I had kept changing my orders and she patiently just change it for me without showing an attitude. Will come back again if I’m nearby Mapherson.

Absolutely amazing experience at Hoe Nam Prawn Noodles along Tai Thong Road! The prawn noodles are simply unparalleled, with a rich, flavorful broth that perfectly complements the generous portions of fresh, succulent prawns. The dry version with sambal chili is equally outstanding, offering a tantalizing blend of spice and savoriness. The service is quick and efficient, and the staff are warm and friendly. The nostalgic vibe of the place adds to its charm, making it a must-visit for prawn noodle lovers. Highly recommend this hidden gem for an authentic and satisfying meal!

We liked the prawn noodles (dry version). Beehoon with prawn and ribs were very tasty. Dry version goes well with their chilli and some chilli powder. On the pricier side depends on the size of prawns and additional toppings. But it's worth it. Soup is good.

This review is for the new restaurant located across the road from their former place at the coffee shop. I think we have a winner here for the prawn soup. It was sufficiently robust and flavourful without being too salty. Some hawkers take shortcuts by adding soya sauce to darken the soup and enhance the taste - not done here. No MSG detected too. I ordered #2 on their menu - Big Prawn Noodles. Pricing is $7, $9 and $11. I went all in for the $11 portion. See how willing I am to sacrifice my waistline to bring you information? Visually, my bowl of prawn kway teow soup was very enticing. There were seven partially deshelled medium to large whole prawns. No half prawn slices here! Then prawns were fresh. As for the soup, it was a burst of umami on your tongue with every sip. It was so good that I couldn't help but finish the soup well before the kway teow and prawns. It exceeded my expectations. I normally take the soup last when eating prawn kway teow soup. If I were to compare this to say the prawn noodle stalls at Adam Road Hawker Centre, and Zion Road Hawker Centre. Hoe Nam blows both of them out of the water. No fight, really. My lunch kaki ordered the #18 dish on the menu. Abalone Clams Small Prawn Noodles at $8. The clams, he counted 5, were in the soup. He ordered the dry version, and I must say the stall was very generous with the soup.

Had always been to this prawn noodles from their old shop to new location which is just opposite, recently was just back at their new location sad to say the standard of the food has drop just abit. The prawn noodles were still acceptable but the broth lacked abit of flavour maybe due to the fact that it’s the same broth throughout the entire day. Other than that all the food tasted pretty similar to before, will definitely be back early to try the broth to see if there’s any difference
