"This family-friendly restaurant and bar in the Fifth Ward is Houston’s only golf course inside the loop. Beyond teeing up guests can partake in pickleball, enjoy live music and kick back with a cold one. The all day menu includes breakfast classics such as biscuits and gravy, and chicken waffles, and comforting goods like wings and burgers. The main draw is the unmatched view of Houston’s skyline as the sun sets." - Megha McSwain, Minh Truong

Tanner the server was very polite, is something to highlight. But this place’s huge potential with the great view, decoration and space is being wasted. Service needs to improve, once we got into the dining area of the club, we stood up there unattended for around 5min, clearly looking disoriented as is not obvious what to do or where to go once you get in. There were like 6 people at a stand at the left of the entrance, but still no one did the minimum gesture to welcome us and explain the dynamics. It wasn’t until we approached and ask that we were told who the hostess was and she ask us how many for the party and found a table for us. Omelettes were really bad, they felt and looked saggy, you could sense the lack of love in preparation… for that quality of food is definitely overpriced and on top of that for a very little proportion, flavor wise food was also underwhelming, unsure if the quality of the buffet food is better. But everything we had (omelletes, potato sides, pancakes) was very bad and to fortget. Maybe the queso was decent, but other than that would not recommend having breakfast here. Not sure if coming back, I mean at least burgers and sandwiches seem to be on a better tier of quality. I insist, the place looks awesome, views are great and ambience rocks. But food and staff need motivation and love. Hopefully someone in management that cares about this place will read this and do something about it.

Just took my Family to brunch here. Definitely can say it’s not worth the $45/person price tag. It was advertised as a brunch buffet with seafood and waffle stations. The seafood station only had two types of shrimp, no crab as advertised or other staples like oyster, ceviche….I could go on. The waffle station was one guy making plain waffles. The only topping offered was cheap corn syrup. No other topping in sight until we asked multiple times. What bugged us the most was the poor hygiene of the buffet. None the shrimp was iced properly (just tossed a few cubes when it would melt down from being next to the burners), and when they did finally bring out some strawberries they put them in a crowded section next the the heated omelette skillets and uncooled shrimp. I could also tell that the omelette chefs where using the same skillets to cook the eggs and shrimp. Last but not least we picked up multiple dirty plates from the start. Over all this place is good to hit a few balls of catch a 9-hole game with a bucket of beer. But definitely I would skip this brunch, better off spending your money at Hugo’s, or honestly Golden Corral. At least you would have better options for 1/4 of the price.

I went to Riverhouse this past weekend with some friends. We had a great time and our server Kendall was amazing! She recommended the red fish tacos and the on the green. I got both, and they were so good!! Definitely will be coming back.

We had a lovely experience visiting the Riverside restaurant. The service, food and drinks were exceptional. And the view of the golf course and downtown Houston across the simmering Buffalo Bayou was stunning. It was a pleasure conversing with Joe Haggard the manager. He truely runs a great establishment. We will definitely be back.

Excellent choice for lunch. Usually not busy, great and fast service. Everyone is very friendly, everything that I have tried is really delicious. Nice plate presentation and quality ingredients.

This is a unique restaurant on the up and coming East side. Me and my coworkers loved it and plan to return this Friday for lunch. The food was excellent with a knowledgeable, efficient wait staff... go try it and enjoy!

Google
First, great potential and good food. However, some of the worst service I've received. Our appetizer was some cold and already soggy nachos, as if they gave us someone's mistake. The waiter didn't address everyone and get their drink orders before walking away. The waiter did not bring us water until someone in the party got up to ask after about half an hour of waiting. The alcohol didn't come out until we were basically done eating despite them having three bartenders--oh, they were all standing around and not making drinks. It's as if the staff smoked a bunch of weed before we arrived. Either that or they have a poor front house manager that has not properly trained staff. But yeah. Good food and cool place.

Google
Pros: the atmosphere is one of the best in the city. Great views, well maintained, friendly and welcoming. Cons: the service will make you pull your hair out. Upon my first few visits, I just thought they were understaffed. The more I go, the more I realize they just have terrible service. This will likely limit my visits in the future as I have never received good service here and my bill has been wrong multiple times. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it is inedible.

Yelp
Come here to play Pickleball and often eat afterward. Their food menu hasn't changed much but their recipes definitely have. The fries come in smaller portion size now and the spicy hot bird looked a lot different. It was still good but posting this new photo for comparison!

Yelp
This place was very nice, open and spacious. My server was excellent and offered great advice. This place sits back from the main road, which provides an excellent atmosphere. My lunch consisted of gumbo and half a sandwich. Everything was excellent and I would recommend this place for a meal or golf.

Yelp
Riverhouse Houston is the first eatery to open along the new East River development. For me, our first experience on a slow day was a-ok. Nothing too amazing, but we know they just opened and there's plenty of room for improvement. We started with chips and queso; queso was room temp and wasn't the best. Thankfully, when my pipin' hot fries arrived, along with a turkey sandwich and the beau's premium street tacos (steak), the fries paired nicely with the queso. And let me say, the serving dish that the fries came in kept those fries hot and crispy our entire lunch. Like, boyfriend kept trying to steal my fries. #rude The place is incredibly spacious and has all the outdoor seating you'd appreciate on a beautiful Houston day. Take advantage of the patio while you can before hot as Hades htown summer. Aside from the room temp queso, $18 "street tacos," and ok sandwich, another area they have room for improvement is the menu. There aren't any vegan options; just about everything has meat or cheese/dairy. Even a few sides that are just vegetables (like charred brussels sprouts, roasted carrots, etc) would be nice. Live music is from 5 - 7 PM every Saturday. Also onsite is the East River 9: nine-hole, par-3 golf course, driving range, pickleball courts; Book tea times or pickleball court directly through their website.

Yelp
I recently visited Riverhouse Houston and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The flavors were exceptional, and while the queso didn't quite match up to Torchys, it came in as a close second. The service was fast and friendly, especially during my visit on Saturday between 11 AM and 2 PM. Overall, a great dining experience that exceeded my expectations.

Yelp
Had an opportunity to checkout Riverhouse / East River 9. Pretty cool concept in a developing side of Houston, TX. You have the restaurant part which is Riverhouse. Tacos are OK. But the chicken wings are huge and have great flavor. Can't go wrong with the buffaloe sauce. A bit on the pricey side as one canned beer was already $6. And bottled water was $4. Like the golf part of East River 9. You can play 9 holes during the day or even at night. They have lights that light up the whole course to play. Only thing that sucks, is you have to carry your bags and walk the whole course. So be ready for a workout!

Brooke A.

Yelp
-10/10 would not recommend for a meal. Ordered the chicken sandwich as is, which came out without the pickles, tomatoes, and onions that were listed on the menu. Not to mention dry. Service was worse than the sandwich. Ordered our food only for our waiter to come back 20 minutes later to "double check our orders" which I assume were not entered in the first place. One of the meals brought out was the wrong meal, go figure! ONLY good thing about this experience was the views and live music. Would give this less than 1 star if yelp would let me.

Yelp
Listen...this is a nice new spot in the community I grew up in!!! My friend had her birthday brunch here and I'm hooked to it. I have already told my Sassy Squad (6 friends since high school) that we will be having a brunch here soon. It is only about 8 minutes from my job, so I've added this to my lunch list. Everyone had something different and I heard so many positive sayings from the group such as: "this is so good", "I'm ready to try something else" , "I can't wait to come back", "I'm going to celebrate my birthday here." They have various places to sit. Inside, outside patio, open tables outside, two laid-back chairs with a small table in the middle near the golf course and a square gazebo where you can see Downtown. Great new spot in 5th Ward!!!

Yelp
New spot alert! Stopped by for their soft opening just in time for game 1 of the 2022 World Series (Go Astros!). Located in East River, River House is a open concept indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant located by East River 9 (a 9 hole, par 3 golf course). I ordered a margarita and some wings. Wings are huge, great flavor, the drawback was they were a little underdone. Drinks were well made. Definitely will return and add more to my review!

Malek B.

Yelp
Great service, view of downtown, dinner was awesome (chicken chili pepper something?) and live band!! Really enjoyed the night out - chill & fun!

Tiffany J.

Yelp
This was kind of a hidden gem for us. We actually drove past it on the way in because we didn't think we were on the right place because the GPS kept telling us to turn into what looked like a vacant office building. But we were pleasantly surprised with the place. We grabbed seats on the patio and got to see the live band. They were good and the service was too. Our waitress was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Our food was delicious and filling. I wanted to order more but knew I wouldn't be able to finish it.

John B.

Yelp
The good - all organic food! I love this. High quality meats both chicken and beef (prime). The menu is really great. The manager is attentive and makes his rounds. The vibe at the restaurant is cool as well. The bad (unforced errors) - The host forgot to text us when ready. 45 min wait instead of 20. I had to check with her and she sat us. Then sat down and the waitress didn't come for 6 min. I'm a local who's been here multiple times and they always seem overwhelmed when serving guests. It is what it is. Then ordered the skirt steak for 2. It was $26 + $24. You get 3 small tacos worth of meat for 2 people. Not nearly enough for the price!! I was actually surprised. No plates with the fajitas, few min for those. Then ordered an Old Fashioned. It came out in a plastic cup with like 1 inch of drink and some small ice cubes. This is $15. I think the bartender was new but come on, this is Houston, find an adequate bartender. Unacceptable. This place could easily be 5 stars but I feel like they shoot themselves in the foot doing the simplest things. Please get it together. For the amount the food and drinks cost, this stuff mentioned above should never be an issue. I will leave a 5 star review once they get it right.

Jocelyn Q.

Yelp
We ate here for the first time today after playing the par 3 and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I wasn't expecting much for a restaurant at a par 3 and pickleball place but I'm glad we decided to eat there after all. Chips and queso, fajita and shrimp tacos were all good so I really don't think you can go wrong with anything here!

Coby V.

Yelp
The food is not great. The servers are nice, but slow and non-attentive. I live close to this spot, but don't care for golf. I'm totally interested in ambiance, service, food & drink quality. They took way too long to bring a simple cocktail to our table. On a Wednesday? Seriously? I truly hope they get it together. I'd hate to have a bad night on a Friday or Saturday at this place. We ordered a plate to go and there were missing items.

Dee J.

Yelp
Excellent service and view of downtown plus the golf course out in the bar area. Food was to die for!

Gary E.

Yelp
Gave this restaurant a second chance. Unfortunately the food was less than expected. Nachos did not live up to the description on the menu. One person in our party ordered a burger well done and it was closer to being rare. Bar service was very slow considering we had one beer each. Our server tried to make up for the disappointing meal experience. The restaurant has a comfortable laid back atmosphere that we all enjoyed. Given that this was a second chance and the experience was less than enjoyable, I doubt that we will be back.

Jay M.

Yelp
This is my 4th time eating here. I usually order a cocktail, but today - I got a beer, on tap. Very disappointing, the beer was warm and flat ( Michelob Ultra on tap). The food is better than average. I have ordered the wings, house cheeseburger, and the street tacos (chicken). All of which are good, bordering on average. As for the ambiance, very friendly staff, amazing views, fun course with well-manicured greens. As previously stated, I like the place and come often. But, the food needs a little work.

Theresa G.

Yelp
Horrible service! Wait staff is so so slow.. waited 30 plus minutes for beer and it was not even busy... Food was good but they are trying to save on food cost by diluted the ranch dressing to water consistency. Food was not delivered all at one time.

Joseph K.

Yelp
Came in for a few hours for dinner and drinks - the taco portions were so tiny we wanted to switch for something else but the manager was on their phone in the corner our entire visit didn't even check on us. Then 30 minutes before the "closing" time listed they flipped all the chairs and turned the music off. The bartender thankfully apologized on behalf of their management and kitchen and got my food switched then came back to tell me the kitchen was closed already.. won't be back. Save your money. Get better management.

Shantelle W.

Yelp
Great place to see an amazing view of Houston. Great driving range. Good music. The food is typically good. However- the service is terrible. This is not the first time, but we used to say the service was bad because it was new. This time I asked to be seated outside, was seated, given menus and then ignored. It was hot out and we had just been on the driving range. The worst part is when we spoke to the hostesses (who saw me get seated 30 min prior)) they didn't care. In addition, as I sat there a lady who looked like management walked by without even looking around to see if anything needed attended. We had planned to eat there but left to go eat elsewhere . Not the first time the service was very very poor here.

Tracie R.

Yelp
Great food. Great hang out. Little slow on service but the service is good. They need more servers. But will be back!!

Ken G.

Yelp
I stopped by Riverhouse since it just opened and wanted a quick bite before going to an Astros watch party. As you approach, the view of Downtown is great! I ordered the wings and fries. The wings were huge and good. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was it had a little too much breading on them than I usually prefer. Great addition to the area and will definitely be back. They have outside seating that looks great but I stayed inside at the bar.

Sara S.

Yelp
The tequila lime and lemon herb chicken wings are amazing! The view fantastic and if you like to golf there is that, but all and all a nice afternoon out.

Anthony V.

Yelp
The manager kills this place, has some solid food options but the manager if you don't look a certain way he stares at you like you are there to beg or something. I'm not the one to ever bring race into something but definitely felt some racial tension.

Briana B.

Yelp
taylor is the best server ever!! we had so much fun. 10/10 recommend. tip her $100. the food was great and she brought everything out so fast. she gave us a tour too. everything was perfect.

Rm C.

Yelp
It was ok, Queso was not great, thick & not very hot. Chips were crispy. Wings were tasty. We will go back saw the burger it looked good. Finding cool places open in the evening is a challenge in the area.

Pub Grub Z.

Yelp
We read the Allison Cook review and went on a whim. We are so glad we did. This is an amazing space with an absolutely killer view. We went on a nice day and sat at the bar looking at the most stunning view of the Houston skyline. A DJ was playing great music and vibe was awesome. The Bloody Mary was one of the best Matt has had. We were definitely in love by now. Then we ordered food. The shrimp street tacos are To Die For. Order. Them. Now. Matt then had the breakfast tacos. Huge portions with a great presentation. I had the grilled salmon which was yummy. The mashed potatoes were "slap your momma good." I would come back just for them. The service was a bit spotty, but they just opened. It will come together. We have been back already and plan to make it a hang out. Try this place.

M S.

Yelp
This is my 4th visit in 6 months and today was absolutely the worse. The street tacos were greasy; the shrimp were shrimp pieces. The set of bartenders lacked enthusiasm. Folks when on a break step away from bar and eat. Service and food has declined.

Tyler M.

Yelp
Good food and nice environment. Food is simple and orders are big. Service was a bit slow, but I will chalk that up to it still being relatively new. Will absolutely be back!
