"The sounds of live music at the Whitewater Center’s River’s Edge come from across the lawn at the folksy, funky River Jam each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from May to September. Like the multigenre music lineup, the menu at River’s Edge offers a wide range of flavors and cuisine like crispy polenta bites, a classic buffalo chicken sandwich, or the fresh ahi tuna salad. River’s Edge takes customers out of the city and into a breezy adventure atmosphere fit for a family, a first date, or anyone in between." - Kayleigh Ruller

I thought about 4 stars, but went with the 5 because of what it is and what it's not trying to be. Service was great. We were hot and tired and they knew it. They got us to a table inside and gave us ice water. Great start. The food was surprisingly good. Easily the best on site Highly recommend everything we ordered. Pork belly, ravioli, wings, beef nachos, and falafel burger

In addition to lots of fun activities, the Whitewater Center has good food too. I ate lunch at the River's Edge restaurant and sat on the patio overlooking the river. For my meal, I had the Steak sandwich, and it was outstanding. It was on a ciabatta roll and has just the right amount of horseradish sauce. I highly recommend this sandwich. They also have a great selection of craft beer, and I had a Captain Jack by OMB. I was very impressed with the River's Edge restaurant.

Google
We visited this location inside the Whitewater center because we were looking for something other than burgers and wraps. It's a super chill spot with a great view of the Center's activities. We were initially excited about the menu and all items arrived looking great, however most of the items fell below our expectations. The Shrimp ceviche was so pretty, yet it was 4 small bite size servings that left us wanting much more for the price - the jalapeno was the biggest item on the plate. I specifically asked if the wings were crispy and the Waitress enthusiastically responded that they were and stated they tasted great. They did not meet my criteria of crispy nor was the flavor particularly appealing. The steak was tough and overcooked. The salad with Salmon was good :-) Service was good. We would return to grab a cider and an outdoor seat, but that's about it.

Google
The food was amazing! Our service was kind and quick, and we sat outside, so the view was great. They have a lot of gluten-free and vegetarian options. Their salads were huge and delicious. I highly recommend that if you come to visit, check this restaurant out. Inside, they have air conditioning, so if you've been running around in the heat all day, this is a great place to relax.

Google
DOG FRIENDLY! I was in town picking up a relative at airport. Menu is impressive. Wasn't expecting that. Our server Jared suggested the pimento cheese stuffed pretzels. We went with that. They were quite good. He suggested the smoked chicken nachos which were quite tasty but came out a little cold. Flavor was on point though. Impressive beer list with lots of local craft beers. Huge bowls of water out for the pups. The view from the patio is awesome. I love the Whitewater Center. My relative was blown away.

Google
Esteban was fantastic. Got placed at the entry door, so all the waitresses kept passing us but no one served. Esteban noticed, came over from his section and started serving us because no one else could be bothered. Food was good and Esteban deserves a raise. Rest of the wait staff needs to be trained more.

Google
I don’t know how this place only has 3.8 star rating! We all enjoyed the food and environment during our Saturday visit. The portion of the food is very generous, which is great for all the outdoor activities we did prior to that. I ordered seared salmon, and it was cooked well. We also ordered chicken wings and a Ahi tuna starter. I like that the wings are dry-rubbed and seasoned very well. The tuna is a must try! Even though there are only 4 of them still worth it!

Google
Served two dishes with mold on them. The waitress admitted that this was the second table in 30 minutes that was served a moldy dish. Crazy right? It gets better. The manager, Jonathan, was requested to address the issue. Instead of having a professional conversation, he decided to repeatedly interrupt my explanation, laugh at me, and abruptly walk away. Myself and my party could have not been disrespected more. I’m spreading the word because I don’t want others to be met with this condescending attitude, especially if they are with their families.

Yelp
This place has a pretty low average. I don't see it that way. The food is good, the service is solid, the views are amazing, and there is plenty of outdoor seating. If you sit inside, it's blah. But you don't go here to eat inside. You must eat outside for the real experience. Burger = Good Fries = Excellent Cucumber Salad = Decent Beer = Excellent Cool spot, especially if sitting outside with a beer while watching the whitewater. No way it's a 3. If you're an atmosphere person, go for it!

Yelp
Score : 3.5/5 Honestly not bad! I was VERY hesitant to eat at an outdoor recreational center but it was much better than expected. The wait was 20ish minutes and we were able to get ciders / beers at the drink area right next to it while we waited. I got the Falafel Burger ($13) - tasted great, falafel wasn't dry (so rare), and the broccoli side was GREAT. Only complaint was the falafel was a bit small for the bun. There were a handful of vegetarian options as well which is appreciated. My friends got the hot honey chicken sandwich ($16) and they really liked that as well- also those sandwiches were HUGE. Overall, definitely worth stopping in before or after your day at the White Water Center.

Julie P.

Yelp
Honestly, it's a decent place to get a meal either before or after your whitewater adventures. It's good food, but nothing stellar or stand out. The salmon on the salad was good, almost too dry and could have used some more seasoning. I also wanted more beets - overall the price to what you got ratio wasn't there for me. Same with the bowl, you just wanted more of what was in there for the price. You can't beat the views of the restaurant though. You can see all the whitewater activity and the zip liners going across!

Niharika C.

Yelp
The food looked amazing but sadly we didn't get to try any since we were not served. We were seated right away and that was the only positive. No server even came to take our order for drinks and we were just sitting there for 30 mins. In that amount of time we asked 3 different servers to find us someone to take our order and no one came. The people who came after us were assigned a server. When talking to the staff they were very rude and the place also wasn't too busy so unsure why the staff couldn't do their jobs.

Makaela P.

Yelp
Stopped by during the summer jam music event that Whitewater hosts during the summer. Had to wait ~ 20 minutes for a table outside which wasn't bad at all considering how many people were there. Once seated, we were given menus and our drinks. No cocktails unfortunately! Plenty of beers though and a few wine options. My husband ordered the 12 oz NY strip which he really enjoyed. The mashed potatoes were really good! I had the chipotle chicken sandwich (modified) with french fries. It was pretty tasty. The chipotle seasoning definitely made this quite spicy! Our waiter was attentive and very friendly!

Yelp
I have came here several times and every time it has been has a great experience...until this time. Everything was great until the end. My boyfriend, my dog and I were sitting outside, and it came time to pay and the server lost my credit card. I was very nice and understanding about it as things happen and I can get another one. Ther server spent about 20 minutes looking for the card as I began to get agitated I wanted to leave he said it must have blown away somewhere nearby. I was asked to use my apple pay with that card.....what? I really should have turned the card off..I only have on credit card and have never lost it ever, and have terrible anxiety so I paid the apple pay and went on my way. By the time I got home I was in tears and mustered up the courage to write an email and got no reply. I still have a pending second charge from them on my credit card too i'm trying to dispute and this was weeks ago so now i'm writing a review cause i'm clearly still annoyed. I'll still go back and i'll still enjoy it and this was one bad experience, but just be mindful.

Cayla M.

Yelp
Service was good. But prices went way up! And food quality didn't go up. The view is nice.

Zara T.

Yelp
Decent beer list, the menu is definitely the right size. Service is fine, not fast or slow, the waitress forgot things, but we're all human and she corrected the situation promptly. My salmon was yummy! But the salad as a whole was a salad. The dressing was bland, not very citrus-y. Overall glad the restaurant was there, and the experience was fine. Nothing extraordinary, but hey, grabbing a beer while watching the rafts and kayaking? My kind of post white water recovery!

Jillian M.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant in the white water center. Good place to stop and refuel from an action packed day doing activities at the park. Our stay was brief, but was provided great service. Ordered two orders of the wings, so yummy! It had a nice Carolina dry rub which really complimented the crunchy texture. Probably top five wings I've had in Charlotte. If your visiting the white water center, definitely stop here to get some food. I can't attest to the rest of the menu but I can say the wings are a must!

Bill C.

Yelp
Downgrading to a one star. Prices are up 50% from a year ago! $6 for some oversalted french fries??? The parking fee has doubled, it's now $12 just to get in the place. Waiter service has become very slow. Rivers Edge is simply not worth the cost anymore.

Raquel S.

Yelp
Was told it was a 45 minute wait but it ended up not taking that long to get a table. I recommend the nachos! (Sorry, no photo) The citrus salmon salad was just ok.

Lucy R.

Yelp
We purchased an annual pass to this amazing White Water park and love all of the fun actives. Whenever we walk by this restaurant and notice the creative food presentations coming out of the kitchen, it saddens us that each and every time we try and get a table in the half empty dining areas, we get the same "we are very understaffed and running a 1 hour wait". No problem, we have been enjoying the great beer selection and tasty grab and go offerings at the two other venues. But wait, on a cold and rainy day, we see the place mostly empty...and score ! The not very friendly hostess Alexia seats us at a table....boy are we lucky today ! But, no, after sitting for 20 minutes with no server stopping by, offering menus or taking a drink order, I catch Alexia again and asked her if our table was assigned because all of the tables seated after us had a server and were well into their lunch. "What do you want me to do about it" Alexia barks back. What a wonderful career Alexia has in front of her. Well, you can get your manager, which we learn is Julia, but Julia is actually the "manager in hiding" who refused to come out front and speak with us. Instead, Julia sends Jimmy. Poor Jimmy, the lazy servers and snotty hostess must run all over this guy. There is no surprise for the 100 + 3 star average reviews this place has received.....about as good as American Airlines. I am surprised however, that senior management does not care enough to do anything and make some changes to River's Edge. Here are 5 easy fixes: 1. Replace the River's Edge Restaurant Management team and start over. 2. Increase your hourly wages like the rest of the industry and bring in people who care. 3. Re-train your dining room and hold them accountable by working the floor vs sitting in the office. 4. Hire a secret shopper to document any poor server - hostess performance and move them out. 5. Take good care $$$ of your Exec Chef + Culinary team, they are the only ones that care. In the meantime, to my fellow Yelpers - ignore the "no outside food and beverage" policy they have posted. They don't know how to run their only sit down restaurant, nor do they have enough staff to catch you.

Maddie M.

Yelp
We have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed our meal. They have amazing nachos so don't miss out on those. The restaurant offers a wide array of food and drink options. We particularly love their selection of local beers. Their outdoor seating is beautiful, overlooking the Whit Water Center river, zip lining and rock climbing. It's entertaining to watch while you wait for your food. It's also arranged at two different levels and is dog friendly.

Rachel T.

Yelp
I have eaten here twice and had a good meal both times. Food is good, plenty of beer and wine to choose from and an awesome patio where you can watch the rafters or listen to music on the weekends! Very much enjoyed my experience and will be back.

Uneka H.

Yelp
Great place! So I came here with a fairly large group (social distancing) after a hike on one of the trails. This was my 1st time here and I was actually impressed. From start to finish the customer service was spot on. We were seated pretty quickly- mainly because it wasn't that many people here at the restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive and was great at answering all of our questions. The food came out at a great pace along with the drinks - I really don't have any complaints (with the exception of 1). I ordered the spinach dip and "Ahi Tuna" mainly because I wasn't that hungry and ordered all appetizers. The tuna (although tasty) was somewhat salty (maybe a little too salty). However, I managed to take pictures of other people's plates at our table and everyone else seemed pleased with their plates. Overall- great place - amazing service!! I would recommend!!

Scott S.

Yelp
Great for what it is. Gonna be expensive but they do a good job...and hey, your having a good time watching people on the river.

Linnea F.

Yelp
You come here for the views and the experience, not the food. I should have listened to the other Yelp reviews, but I wanted to enjoy the scenery. I ordered a charcuterie board and it was underwhelming. The service was very slow. Once I was seated it probably took about 15-20 minutes before a server came around.

Lauren P.

Yelp
The food looked good, wish we could have tried it. We were sat by the hostess after a 30 minute wait, then for 15 minutes every server that passed by our table refused to make eye contact or acknowledge that we hadn't been helped. Every table around us was being served, even the dog at the table next to us received a bowl of water. We decided to bail and spend our money elsewhere. Was disappointed to have wasted 45 minutes of our day with this place.

Jesse L.

Yelp
Wow! What an unexpected surprise. We worked up an appetite doing all the white water activities. I was expecting just some basic hamburgers and such but the menu here was amazing. It all sounded good. I got the steak sandwich with horseradish cream sauce and sautéed onions. Highly recommend. My wife had the Chicken pasta. Said it could be served in any high end Italian place. And our daughter loved her chicken tenders. Very reasonable prices as well

Sarah M.

Yelp
I love the seating and dining experience part of the WWC. I only envisioned it to have all activities and quick services but to be able to utilize a nice sit down with friendly staff and optimal seating 6ft apart, was a great way to relax between your morning and evening activities. Food was rather delicious too! I ordered the portobello sandwich and onion rings. My friend ordered the wings and said those were good too! We were able to stay refreshed with a nice spiked seltzer and then we were ready to get back to activities. As far as timing, the food didn't take long either it was great timing with having to go from one sport to the next without worrying about running late! It had a great view of the stage too so I can imagine during concerts it would be the best place to sit and relax with some live music!!

Paul S.

Yelp
This place is of course located within the white water center. Its the one and only restaurant option in the center and lucky for us its also delicious! we only had to wait about 30 minutes for a table before we got texted our table was ready. We had a great seat in the shade with a great view of the white water rapids and a great view into the spot where everyone seems to fly off the raft. We had an lunch and show it was amazing! We started off with the chicken wings which were delicious crispy and flavorful. We got the chicken salad and the BBQ burger which were both really good. My wife said the salad was one of the best she has had. Really happy we ate here, the service was a bit slow but that is to be expected considering the location and how many people are looking to eat. Pricing is about as expensive as you would expect in a place like this.

Bill W.

Yelp
First time dining here and on the whole, it was a nice dining experience. Drove over from Davidson after Church and while we had to wait a few minutes,it was not a long wait. We got out of Church and left Davidson around 10:40 and got to the restaurant around 11:20 so we had to wait 10 minutes since they do not open till 11:30. It's a very nice restaurant with the main attraction being the views of the US National Whitewater Training Center and the other attractions such as Zip Lines, Bike Path, Cliff Climbing rocks etc. We were promptly seated at a table at the edge looking down to the lower cataracts on the Competition Section. Fortunately we picked a good day and even though it was humid, temperature was in the mid 70's. It's a good menu with an emphasis on Sandwiches, Pastas, Burgers, Wraps etc. Several items looked good and in the end, we both ended up with Ham and Cheese Panini's. For a side, I ordered Potato Salad while my wife asked to substitute Wheat Berry for the Sour Dough which then did and for the side, grilled pineapple. We both had tea as out beverage and even though I order half and half, it was still too sweet so I hate to think what the regular sweet tea would be. Lunch came out shortly and service was excellent. The Ham and Cheese Panini's was good but not outstanding. No latent heat from the Panini Press and the tomato had the taste of a Tomato in February. Plenty on meat on the Sandwich though and the Potato Salad was good. This was out first time though and when the Grand kids come up in the fall, we will probably take them here. My wife is already planning on getting a bunch of the ladies in the neighborhood together and coming over for lunch.

Yelp
What a delightful surprise!! Pulled off of I- 85 when traffic stopped and followed signs to National Whitewater Center, sounded interesting. WOW! For $6 parking fee we were entertained for hours just watching kayaking, climbing, zip lining and people with dogs n kids having a great time. Beautiful facility with great walking trails all around THEN...hungry. Not expecting much, but drawn by the patio overlook seating, we checked out the RIVER EDGE restaurant. Menu and prices were enticing. Ordered Grilled Salmon Citrus Salad, Roasted Chicken Penne pasta and smoked wings. Big portions, served in REAL DISHES and delicious! ~8oz salmon done to perfection, 10 crispy and savory smoked wings, so satisfying! We took half of our order home. With sweet Carolina service and tea, our detour was sooo refreshing, a delightful find, just 15 min from the airport. Hope you enjoy it too.

Alfie B.

Yelp
I'll be honest; I had pretty low expectations for River's Edge. Normally sit-down restaurants at theme parks just aren't very good. And they don't have to be since patrons don't have much choice with being locked in for the whole day. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this place! We went this past Sunday during Tuck Fest around 12:30. There was a short wait to be seated outside, but inside required no wait at all, so we opted for that. The porch seemed to have a lot more tables, with nice views of the surrounding whitewater center. The inside was surprisingly very clean, considering the kinds of activities offered here. Prices of dishes were also decent. And our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Smokehouse plate. The whole dish was neatly plated. The pork belly was the right mix of fatty with just a touch of crispness to it that I love; the sausage was juicy and tender; and the brisket was flavorful and not drenched in BBQ sauce. The fries however were a little too salty. Overall this place was good. Not the greatest food you'll eat, but definitely gets the job done. I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could.

Courtney T.

Yelp
Great food! The sandwich I had was seasoned really well. You wouldn't really expect much from a restaurant in the middle of the white water center but surprisingly the menu has a nice selection and the food is great. Service was nice as well. You have the option to eat inside or outside if you want to enjoy the scenery. I would come back just for the food.

Rob D.

Yelp
Was at the white water center and needed a quick bite. Food is ok and is consistent with the previous reviews. Had the burger and it was good. It fit the need. I know that they have other things but the menu is pretty limited. I wish that they would have a healthier selection.

Clara S.

Yelp
So...the menu looks good but after waiting 45 minutes for a server to even say hello, we never got to eat. Got too frustrated to stay because the Whitewater Center day pass is $75/person and we wasted enough time.

Allison C.

Yelp
Everything is overpriced, but at least the food is good. I got the tuna poke, and for $17, the portion was ridiculously small. The flavors in the dressing were really bright and the ingredients (esp. the oranges and radishes) were fresh and complimented each other well. The lo mein noodles added a nice crunch. I also had the fries, which were nice and crispy. Beer on tap, though more options at the biergarten. Service is pretty fast considering the place was packed. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Stephen G.

Yelp
First of all, what a great venue! The rivers edge restaurant gives you a view of the rock climbing, repelling, kayaking and white water rafting area. When we stopped in I wasn't sure what kind of food it was going to serve. My friend Kim got the pan seared chicken for $15 that had a white Alabama barbecue sauce that he thought was just tasty. I was very impressed with the flavor of the string beans. I wish mine could taste that good. I had a 12 ounce New York strip. I couldn't believe how tender it was. The taste was phenomenal. Our waitress, Abigail, Was a real sweetheart. She was patient with us and jocular. If you go you gotta get her as your server.

Debi W.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere and the food. Their burgers are amazing!! I upgraded to the sweet potato fries with a GF bun and it was delicious. The live band playing across the river was a plus. Market lights on a cool, Fall evening is always the best.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Well, this was the best option in the water park. The burger was decent enough though. But, what can you expect from an attraction where options are limited anyway. The burger was a little over cooked, but had good flavor. So, if y'all are there for the day it's the best option, plus they have a great beer menu.

Lori L.

Yelp
Solid restaurant but can definitely get busy. I will say that the hostesses are on point and pretty organized with getting tables ready. We wanted to sit outside but only certain tables had a shade and it was super hot outside so requested something under the shade. We were quoted 30 mins but actually only waited 5 mins. We had a nice view of the whitewater center. We were immediately greeted by our server. She was super friendly and quickly got us waters. We ordered the chicken tenders and fries and the grilled chicken sandwich and cucumber salad. We got our food at a decent time but only had one silverware. I just needed napkins so I asked the server for some and she agreed to get some. 10 mins rolled by and she never brought it. She did bring me a refill of drink and my husband ordered a beer and asked her again for napkins and she remembered and said she would bring it. She actually didn't bring it until AFTER I was done eating. She did apologize but I didn't realize how hard it was to bring napkins. The tenders were good and the fries came popping hot. I got ranch and bbq sauce to dip my tenders in. The bbq sauce was ok. Super watery and sweet. My husband wasn't crazy about his chicken sandwich. It was a small piece of chicken. Tons of breading compared to it. He did like the cucumber salad though. Overall, the place is ok and the prices are decent for what it is.

Jonathan B.

Yelp
So it seems Yelp has a different entry for the restaurant here at the USNWC. Probably a good idea because I would hit the character limit on the review for the facility and never get to this good restaurant. It seems they get a lot of bad reviews on here. That's really a shame. I have never had a bad experience here. The only thing is they usually have a bit of a wait to be seated. But that's really to be expected I think. The food is great though. There are lots of sandwiches (primarily), a few entrees and, my favorite seemingly recent addition, bowls. Everyone knows what I mean when I say bowls. Think of everything you can toss together in one concoction to hit all the possible flavors of a specific cuisine or culture. I really loved the curry with shrimp bowl. And the side of sweet potato fries...well I'm a sucker for them wherever I go. I even think back about going out here just to eat and enjoy the environment. Lots of beer on tap to offer, of course. Plenty of local and craft. Prices are about what you'd expect. Perhaps even cheaper if you're used to theme park food prices. But for the quality I've never had a complaint. You can usually hear the music all the way up here and have a great view of the entire front half of the center. Every time I visit here I usually plan in a stop over at this restaurant.

Divya S.

Yelp
Such a great idea to have a bar/restaurant in the White Water center. Group of us spent the day here enjoying all the outdoor activities and were starved by the end of the day. Super convenient to just walk right in and drink some refreshing beer alongside delicious food. I ordered the brisket sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. Brisket was juicy and paired well with the beer cheese they served on the side. Worth the money! Will eat here again!

Sylvan F.

Yelp
Excellent experience. We visited over the weekend and the location was very busy. When we arrived we were quoted a 45 minute wait as the only tables available were in the hot sun on the outside patio. We were notified after 35 minutes that our table for six was available. The host, Sierra, was great and assisted us with a high chair as we tried to handle both the infant and the dog. We ordered a wide variety of apps and entrees and all were excellent especially the tuna appetizer and the Boursin burger. Our server , Arik, was very personable and offered great insight about rafting at the location. We also loved the wide variety of local draft beers and they were reasonably priced. Our dining experience was a great start to our adventures at the location. We will definitely return!

Cassie O.

Yelp
This will be a NO for me. Dine here after my exercise st the WWC. Ordered a salad. This was the most unappealing salad iver ever had for such a high price so Not worth it. Also had a few glasses of wine. Service was slow. The restaurant is at a great location but that's about it. Just YUCK. Also my friend had a burger and it was horrible too.

Jeff C.

Yelp
Avoid the restaurant. The food was good but the host staff repeatedly ruined our experience. Sierra and Caitie aren't ready to be in jobs where they deal with the public. I went to put my name in for a table and politely waited, and waited, and waited for the two young women to acknowledge me. Sierra looked like she might have been training Caitie. They both looked angry so I figured it was something between them. Then they both focused their anger on me as if they were irked that I hadn't taken the hint and gone away and left them alone. Same thing when I came back after being texted our table was ready. Now there were other people waiting by the host stand and they were also given the angry, pouty treatment. It was just starting to rain, and while there were plenty of tables that were sheltered, we were seated at a table in the rain that still had pieces of food on it. I went back and explained the situation and things deteriorated further. While I was inside being told we'd now have to sit inside, my wife asked a server if they could sit at an empty, clean table out of the rain. The server was great and said of course. I wish I could say that's where it ended, but for the rest of the lunch, both hosts went out of their way to make eye contact whenever they walked and gave us looks. At that point all there was to do was laugh at these two young women who acted like spoiled brats. Still trying to figure it out, and the best I can come up with is daddy works there and they don't need to worry about being fired.

Yelp
I hope those who wrote bad reviews give this a second chance. River's Edge is one of those places in Charlotte that is so secretly good I hope people don't find out. The salmon is delicious. I've had many other things on the menu and never been disappointed, but the salmon salad and entree both are my favorite. In terms of the service, during high times it's hard to get a table and that can translate to slower service. But on a normal day, I've never had an issue. My only critique is that I miss the pimento cheese and wish they'd bring it back. It was delicious!!

Kim L.

Yelp
LOVED the Farro Salad! It was a huge salad and well worth the price despite my initial reaction to a salad priced at $10+. It was filling and had well-paired toppings that added nice texture. The service was decent and we were able to get a table right away which is surprising because I've almost always seen a wait. We were able to sit outside under the shaded tarp area and get a nice view of the white water. The beer list was extensive and there was a lot for everyone. If you've got time to spare and aren't trying to get to rafting at a certain time, definitely stop here for a nice lunch. Despite higher prices than other eateries at the Center, this is good stuff.

Albert S.

Yelp
Asked for medium rare steak, they give me burnt and overcooked steak. Service is inexcusably terrible. Tried a few of other menu options and it all tastes bland, unseasoned and cooked incorrectly

Kelsea B.

Yelp
This is gonna be a no from me, despite having really good food. The service is literally THAT BAD. Buckle up, because this is a wild ride. So we first showed up at noon with a party of eight and an hour and a half to spare. We placed our order in a decent amount of time. After about an hour of waiting, a member of our party asked our waitress to check on the status of our order. She went to the kitchen and came back with the news that there were "quite a few" tickets ahead of ours and we wouldn't have our food in time. You'd think an hour and a half was enough time for a meal, but it was not even enough to get our food. We paid for our drinks and left (despite having spoken to the manager and explained the situation, no one offered to comp our sodas). Then, after our rafting trip, we came back to the restaurant since we hadn't eaten all day. This time it was around 3 pm and rush hour was over. We placed our order and about 45 minutes later...still nothing. This waitress offered to try and bring us a free appetizer. After about an hour, we had decided not to wait and were standing up to leave when the food miraculously appeared. And it was delicious! But two meals in a row with an absurd wait for food such as salads and BLTs? I literally couldn't believe it.

Yelp
This place overlooks the US National Whitewater Center's main activity area. It is an absolutely gorgeous view come sunset and perfect on Thursday nights during the summer when they have free live entertainment. I have been to the USNWC before but never ate at this place. It did not disappoint, we had quick seating and service. They had a nice beer selection---not overbearing like some other places and the prices weren't too high. My group had an appetizer of fried pickles with ranch dipping sauce which was great (you really cant go wrong with that) I had the Apple Walnut Chicken Salad -Marinated grilled chicken atop spring mix with apples, crumbled bleu cheese and candied walnuts with Balsamic Vinaigrette Fantastic salad! It was very refreshing and the candied walnuts added a nice sweet touch to contrast the apples. And I am all for any kind of crumbled cheese! I was looking at the hummus plate but needed something cool and refreshing and this hit the spot! I definitely recommend this place, the service was good, food was great and you cannot beat the location. Go on a Thursday or Saturday night during the summer and there is live music and you can hang around after and just chill. So happy Charlotte has this place!

Yelp
Not sure if the bar across the river counts as River's Edge but, it's a great place for a draft beer and a burger after some trail riding. Wide selection of beers makes it easy to find something, unless you have trouble making a decision. Burger hot the spot.

Yelp
I absolutely love the white water center and we always have the best days! However today the pumphouse was closed and we had to eat at the rivers edge. Bad choice. They told us 30 min and we waited 55 only to be sat alone in a closed section. No waiter ever came over. Decided to order to go and eat outside. Much better choice.

Yelp
So we ended the Labor day festivities after working up an appetite by having dinner at the River's Edge Bar and Grill. The food is okay. They forgot to put the coleslaw with the BBQ Brisket Sandwich. I tasted someone else's coleslaw and was not impressed. Where is the cilantro? only a piece. My friend did not like the coleslaw after tasting it. The fries was greasy and soggy. At least the BBQ strips were cooked and swimming in BBQ sauce. The Brioche was really a roll. I must be thinking of Paris and their fluffy buttery Brioche wait not the same in the US. There was a good selection of beer available and drinks. The dessert saved the day. Had the Apple Fritter A La Mode which came out of the hot with a scoop of ice-cream. The waitress we had was great too.

Yelp
Some of the items a little pricey, but it is expected in such a touristy area with lots of activities to do. A nice air conditioned escape in the summer from the heat and nice patio to sit out in the fall. Good selection of beers and sandwiches. I had the shrimp curry which I was pleasantly surprised by. The favor is superb! It's a nice healthy choice with a variety of different kind of veggies. Another dish that we ordered was the meat plate. Forgot the name of it, but it recommended by the server. Flavor was good as well, but a rather heavy meal by itself. It comes with a side and we got the beans. Plenty to eat for 2 people and still had leftovers. Ordered the rose beer, which was a nice touch to the meat plate. The various items we ordered balanced each other out. Would come here again on another special occasion or if I wanted a nice cup of refreshing beer.

Yelp
Pretty average food - burgers, salads, sandwiches. You're paying a premium for being at the whitewater center. I had the poached shrimp salad. Not bad, but wouldn't go back. The view from the outdoor seating area is nice, though.

Yelp
Not sure why all the low reviews but we loved this place. The Carolina Dip sandwich was great and the atmosphere is fun. Brandon was a great waiter.

Yelp
This is the only sit-down style restaurant at the US National Whitewater Center. The first time I went, I was surprised by the menu. It's actually averaged priced ($9-$12 for a sandwich & side) compared to the jacked up amusement park prices I was anticipating. Their menu offers a lot of healthier style options than some restaurants, and the quality has always been good. I'd highly recommend the Pilgrim burger (turkey burger with goat cheese, apple, & honey mustard sauce). The western burger (bbq sauce, lettuce, fried onions) is also delicious. I found the bun to be a little but dry this time around though. Appetizer wise, the nachos are awesome and a good portion for sharing.

Yelp
We used to love this restaurant. They had fantastic fresh, healthy and comfort food choices. Then their menu changed this year. And not for the better. It's tasteless, ordinary and completely misses the mark. Until they come to their senses and return to the delicious previous menu I will not waste my money there again. Also what restaurant that offers burgers doesn't have a veggie burger as an option?! Especially one at a center that encourages and praises health and wellness? Not this one. Add to this disappointment, the service has been consistently bad the last couple times we were there. So even their hiring practices have gone the way of their menu. LOVE the White Water Center, grab snacks and a cold beer, but eat a meal elsewhere.
