Super friendly staff, our server was awesome! The Gumbo was delicious, the PoBoy was great the half and half fried oysters and shrimp were delicious. The portions were huge even if the shrimp was small.

Great pub friendly service excellent food at responsible prices and large serving. What more would you want from a venue!! Come try it. Thursday $9 x3 tacos and $3 beers and margaritas are a bargain!! Yum yum.

I had a great lunch here with friends. All the food was delicious, our server was great and super friendly, and we loved looking around at all of the decor. Reasonable prices and portions.

This place is close by the job and I wanted something different. I took an extra 15 minutes for lunch. Not a good place for a quick bite. But the food was delicious. I had the Bleu cheese crumble burger. One of the few places that offer this delicacy. Sweet tea was good, not great. Service was good. I highly recommend this spot if your in the area. Most of the time it is packed out or busy.

Waited at a dirty table for 20 minutes. Ordered drinks and water. 20 minutes later, placed food order. They brought one meal and drinks. No water. Asked 2 more times for water. Still waiting. Finally after my husband was finished with his meal, they brought mine 25 minutes later. Food was a 5. Fish and chips. Very oily catfish. Fries were great. Absolutely the worst service I've experienced in NOLA.

The burgers are delicious. The tots are crispy and the atmosphere nice. But the staff and other patrons are just really friendly and thats why I keep coming back.

Awesome restaurant with a fun atmosphere. We enjoyed food, drinks and live music while there. It is conveniently located close to Southport Hall so go dine and drink then catch a show or just stay for their live entertainment. Service was good.

Excellent burgers! I love the decor and the ambience of the place. They did a wonderful job decorating. Very comfortable. Everything all new. Just as good as the river shack on River Road.

Forced to go shopping; found out that we were nearby. Atmospheric, roadhouse vibes. Pleasant service, good drinks. Beef debris poboy was skimpy, dry, almost not dressed.(undressed?). Wife's soup judged meh. Don't eat here, but do drink here.

I like to come here to belly up to the bar for what are probably my favorite bar stools ever. Not because of their comfort but because they are decorated with clothing and pants falling off etc to appear like legs etc. They offer a great beer selection, very acceptable wine list and a full bar. The bartenders while efficient usually have a bit of an attitude. The food is fairly good as far as bar food goes. So if you are a fan of dark somewhat divey bars with fun bar stools make sure to check this place out if you are in the area. They also offer covered outdoor seating but it lacks the character that the inside provides.

We tried this restaurant when the weather didn't cooperate for a day trip to the zoo. It's one of those places that doesn't look like much, but was actually above par in service and quality. We had a roast beef debris poboy and shrimp remoulade salad with fried green tomatoes. 5 out of 5 for both meals. I asked for a go-cup for my soda - no problem. Cutest bar stools. I'd go back. It seems like the type of place where everything on their menu would be good.

Great food! It's all American classics so nothing fancy, but they do tavern food really well. Huge portions and cheap prices. It's nice and on River road and has lovely outdoor seating. Was raining when we went so didn't get a picture. They have crawfish during the season as well. Parking is potentially a challenge, and the service was a bit slow. It's also a big place that was busy so this explains it. Onion rings were okay but the burger was a proper medium rare. 4/5, nothing wrong with it but I reserve 5/5 ratings for places that are worth a trip for, and while solid and good, this place is not somewhere to make a trip out of. It's the best pick if you're already in the area though.

Nice ambiance with some really good food. We had the chicken wrap and the shrimp wrap. These things were huge and stuffed with ample piles of chicken and shrimp. Margaritas were tasty and not watered down. Just passing through and I'll put this place on my list of stops when I'm back this way

Loved everything about this place. I had the special, red beans, and rice with smoked sausage. It was Monday night. It was absolutely delicious. A server was friendly and Attentive. Highly recommend

Great place to hang out with friends. The place is fun and has great bands. The service from the staff is always good. The food has never disappointed.

Our favorite dive bar on this trip. It's the epitome of 'dive'. From the wood floors, swinging wood doors, to the wood bar with 30 beers on tap. It's where locals go so you know it's got a great selection of Cajun and bar food. It's our 4the DDD stop on this trip and we even got the shirt!! And I almost forgot!! The staff is friendly and fun! Do you have DDD and FF's. What's not to love!!

Another awesome trip to Rivershack! The walls always have my eyes in a gaze checking out the decor. Service is top notch with even better food. I noticed they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights! Well make sure to return and check it out on a lively weekend.

One of my favorite spots to hangout at usually after 5pm on Fridays. I love the bartenders and they have decent lunch menu.

Found this gem by searching yelp. I use yelp regularly when traveling. We were a large party of 16. Called ahead and our table was ready and waiting. Server was very friendly and accommodating to all our needs. Tried the fried green tomatoes. Not bad! Onion rings were great. We also tried the gator bites. They were very good. I had the seafood platter, catfish, shrimp - very large portion. Easily could share dish. I highly recommend stopping in. The decor was casual but fun. I loved the saddle stools and wished we took a photo.

In town for some doctors visits and OMG. One of the best little hole in the wall taverns. The service was so fast and waitresses were amazing. We ordered fried catfish fingers, shrimp po boy, onion rings and fried mushrooms. Let me tell you if you're looking for some good authentic NOLA food, this is the spot to visit.

Bar personnel refused to serve us any drinks and repeatedly insisted that we go outside to order. We had been outside for 15 minutes and no one had approached us. Realizing we were a large group (baseball kids and parents) we were willing to wait for food, but simply wanted some cokes and beer to wait with. we watched as she served other patrons beer and mixed drinks that they carried outside. we listened while the only waitress informed her customers at the next table that "They were her ONLY table!". Hint taken! Probable loss to Rivershack aprox $500.00 and a ton of good will.

Haven't visited this joint in a while. That was my mistake. Rivershack is a bar... it is definitely a dive (Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives). We recently went for lunch, a quiet time for this venue. The luncheon special was white beans with a pork chop or with catfish. One of us had the grilled pork chop that was extra thick and grilled perfectly. One of us had the beans with fried catfish. Catfish was served as two large filets perfectly fried in a delicious batter... awesome. The beans were delicious and also included good corn bread. This was a lunch special that the two of us enjoyed for at least two meals. The service was special attention. The pricing is extra fair. The food quality remains special. RECOMMENDED,

Funky, neat little bar eatery. Staff always warm and welcoming. It's a cut above a hole in the wall and locals enjoy it.

Fun and Fulfilling Food....great ambiance. My neighborhood place for delicious food, good music,and friendly clientele & Staff. Celebrated the Super Bowl win with all patrons and Staff. Plus the chickens on the stairs outside, who were as excited as the customers, flitting about and squawking and flicking their feathers! Great memories there! Ditto for Playoff Game when Garret Hartley kicked the winning field goal that put the Saints into the Supr Bowl. It's a memory I'll always treasure at the River Shack. Also, my dad was a Railroad Man, who worked the Huey P 'til he retired. He told me about the Rivershack, as it was his and his fellow workers hangout after shift! A real homey-feel of yore! The Menu is great! So are the Bar Stools! The bands/music are always top notch. Made new friends. Try it, I promise you'll go back again & again! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Rivershack Tavern is an iconic place in Jefferson Parish. So much nicer since there is no more smoking in the restaurant/bar. Delicious food in a wide variety. Portions are very big.

Went here for a celebration lunch and it was a good time. Nice area, smokers friendly, and ok vibes for the westbank. There is a parking lot right out front, however there is plenty of street parking as well. They serve the usuall bar foods fries, burger, also crawfish! Drinks were good! Service good as well! If there was a place that could represent the westbank as a whole it would be this place hands down!

I enjoy River Shack the place is nice with all the pictures on the wall. The Bar schools are vary different as you see in my picture. There Bloody Mary is to die for.They menu is affordable with a lots of choices.All there food is great. Went with a group that had better been there an they loved it an the parking was great.

Went there last night standing room only nowhere to sit and no dance floor they had a band in the bartenders cannot handle the capacity could not be served tried to get a drink could not be served bartenders can't handle a full house

Great atmosphere! Just a cool dive kinda place. Local bands, good food and drinks. Outdoor covered seating available. Thw only negative is limited parking.

Fun little neighborhood bar with good food and drinks! We were lucky enough to go on a night that had a little live band outside under the tent and we loved it. The band was great, people were dancing, and they didn't require masks! We also ordered dinner. We got the Buffalo wings which I recommend. They were crunchy and tasty! I also ordered the shrimp wrap. It was tasty however I wouldn't get it again. The shrimp were breaded in Italian breadcrumbs and personally I don't like shrimp breaded that way when they are fried. Although I didn't like the shrimp, the wrap was fully loaded! It was huge!

Sitting at the bar, hearing the music, looking at the decor; this feels like a bar straight from 1973, and I love it. I so do wish I could remember the bartender's name, but she was very attentive and kind. Beer selection is expansive with a good variety of taps, food was also very tasty. This place is 100% a "regulars" bar, I definitely got some weird looks walking in, but was swiftly welcomed into friendly conversations with the others sitting beside me. I really enjoyed it. Not at the top of my list to visit again, but I promise you I'll eventually make my way back here.

Traveling for work and stopped by. My kind of dinner spot, honestly. I'm a huge fan of bar food and the LA style twist on it is great. I had a chicken sandwich and fried crawfish poppers that were awesome. Service was great, atmosphere was a 'chill after work drink spot', and the price was totally fine. Plenty of local beers and popular ones on tap, lots of drink specials and daily food specials. Wouldn't be disappointed stopping for some grub and an IPA anytime!

The food is always good at River Shack! The beer is nice and cold and goes well on a warm day. The service is always prompt, and the time waiting on the food was fine. If you looking for a cool place to chat and hang out with good food look no further!

Awesome food Was in Jefferson Oshner for three weeks and I ordered food to go quite a few times from this place and it was good every single time. Only wish was if they could've sent me some nice IPA with my burgers.

Good standard spot for drinks. Good food- on spot! Fried seafood done right. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good local joint.

My boyfriend works nearby and he is always raving about the Rusty's Shrimp Wrap. Today I finally got a chance to give it a go! It does not disappoint! I tend to get full very easily, especially from tortillas/bread. But this wrap was so light and yet so filling! The shrimp was still crunchy (even as a takeout) and the extra sauce that comes on the side gives it the perfect extra flavor! I got mine with sweet potato fries for a +$2. The fries were OKAY. It wasn't the best sweet fries, it wasn't the worst. It was a little soggy when I got it (most likely because it was a take out) Overall: 4/5!

I'm not saying the owner is at fault for this dog sitting on the table , but the waitress seen it and didn't open her mouth.!!This was during the pandemic too -already running from germs right ! The red beans & rice was was tasty & reasonably priced . I threw my food away just because I was grossed out .. as the dog slid his butt across as if it was itching ! If your dog put his/her butt on the table while you eat ... this may be the place for you ... it's allowed by at least one of the staff . I'm not going back !!

If you're going for the bar experience, it's not bad. The food on the other hand, well it's bar food; 'nuff said.

They have good bar food but don't get the oyster poor boy. They charge a lot as most places do for oysters these days but only had about 6 or 7 oysters on a 10 inch sandwich. Too skimpy and the bread was not fresh. I was very disappointed.

I spotted this place via Facebook one day and always said I was going to stop and try it the next time I was in the area. Well, today was the day after our visit to the Audubon Zoo. First, let me give you a little history of the place. The building is over 100 years old and started as a grocery store right next to the levee of the Mississippi River. Then it became a colored only bar. Today it is known as the Rivershack Tavern and has been for the last 30 years. 30 years and counting is a long time for a restaurant, so it must be doing something right and let me tell you, they are. From the moment you walk inside you notice the barstools at the bar. Then you seat yourself and immediately you are greeted by a server with friendly service and a smile. Lots of craft beers and drink specials. The same goes for the choices on the menu, lots of them. We started with the Boudin egg rolls and they were great starters. My wife and I split the "see-food platter" which had fried catfish filet, a much of fried shrimp and fried oysters and a piece of alligator sausage, fries, and a small house salad. Everything was delicious especially the alligator sausage. For dessert, my wife had the chef special of chocolate mousse pie and I had the staple "bread pudding" Both were yummy, however, the chocolate mousse pie was sort of hard from the freezer and the bread pudding was hot and took a bit to cool but when it did. The pudding had no chance as I kept eating until I couldn't eat anymore. They have a patio and live bands on the weekend. Like them on Facebook and find out what their specials are for the day, as they have some good ones. Can't wait to go back and try the stuff grilled chicken on a bed of cousin and a cream sauce or the boiled crawfish when it's that time of year again.

Yallllll go to Rivershack today! Fantastic service and a variety of the best foods!!!! Everything we ordered was delicious and will be sure to go back to try more.

This place is amazing. I went here for lunch before picking my dog up from her vacation, and had some of the tastiest food on my trip. The atmosphere was fantastic, beer/drink selection was great and the menu was unbelievable. We got the BBQ shrimp and Tex-Mex burger, both were delicious. The service was what made our experience, the bartender was awesome. She was so attentive, caring and knowledgeable. Next time I'm in town, I will be sure to go here.

This was my first experience eating here. The setting reminds me of a old rustic saloon. It really dark and dreary inside however, very clean. There is a bar area and tables for seating. There is also a billiard table area for those of you enjoy playing. For starters I ordered from the Shack -A-Tizers Menu I indulged in the Fried Pickles and Boudin Egg-rolls. The pickles and egg-rolls were cooked perfectly. As for the Boudin Egg-rolls,since I am a Boudin Junkie I would have preferred to experience more flavor in the Boudin. For my meal I ordered from the Boigers & Fries menu. My selection was the Shank U. I originally ordered this item thinking it was a all Patton's Hot Sausage sandwich. It was actually a burger topped with a Patton's Hot Sausage patty. I ordered it medium well based on my initial thought of the full sandwich being hot sausage patties. The sandwich was flavorful although I would have preferred my beef patty meat temperature to be medium. Overall it was a pretty good experience. I will definitely have to visit again really soon. I almost forgot to mention the sweet tea was delicious.

I have been coming to this Tavern for many years. I finally get a chance to write a review. I actually live not that far so whenever there is a chance to come, me and the lady like to sit at the bar with the fancy stools and drink. We have our own bartender that we like to have serve us and she is amazing! Now on to the food. I always get the Rustys Chicken Ranch sandwich! Talk about amazing!! You get chicken breaded in Italian bread crumbs on a bun with ranch, assorted cheeses and bacon. Talk about make your heart skip a beat just thinking about it. Have some tatter tots so you can dip it in some rivershack sauce and you have yourself a meal! The food is great, the workers are awesome, and the atmosphere is inviting. With bands playing almost every night, this is the place to go in old Jefferson.

We are in New Orleans for our wedding and running some last minute errands. Looked up somewhere today near the bakery and this restaurant had great reviews. On the outside it looked like a dive bar but looks are deceiving. Everything we ate was delicious. My fiancé had a burger and fries. He asked for gravy and they brought out two Different gravies: a regular gravy and roast beef gravy. The roast beef gravy was THE most delicious thing I've ever had. I had a club sandwich which was great and sweet potatoes fries. Sometimes restaurants screw up sweet potato fries, they did not, these fries were cooked to perfection. I want to say THANK YOU to our waitress who brought out toys for our 15 month old who was having a fit. THANK YOU. he was losing his mind.

Update! We came back again and tried the crab cakes. 100% real crab meat and 100% delicious, the price point won't break your wallet either.

We eat at Rivershack fairly often but today we had our best experience yet. Allie was our waitress. She was bubbly and excellent at her job. She was on top of everything. She never had to be reminded of anything. We brought our dog and she was so accommodating. It truly was a perfect experience and the food was great too.
