came here for both dim sum lunch (Friday 11:30am) and dinner (Sunday 6pm). I enjoyed the dim sum more. the service is much better compared to other Chinese places. Service is polite, prompt on requests (iced water, hot sauce, check) but hard to flag down when the restaurant is full. when we sat down for dinner, there were no menu on the tables. it was being contributed to other tables that was reserved. I had to go up to the cashier lady to ask for the menu which she brought to us. they mostly have larger tables. We were a party of 5 so we sat at the most inner left corner of restaurant which made the duration of the meal feeling very stuffy and hot. for the dim sum, the pork liver was probably the best dish. pork liver was soft. the beef rice roll, the skin roll is a little too thick. beef ball was very soft and mild tasting. Fried pumpkin with salted egg was okay, I didn’t like the batter and not much salted egg taste but the pumpkin is soft. chicken feet was sweet. the mixed beef organ is another okay dish, not tender enough for elderly with no teeth. the fried pork dumpling didn’t have much filling. my dad did enjoy the black sesame dumpling and the pork dumpling ( I didn’t try). no condiments on the table for both dim sum and dinner so I asked for hot sauce which they promptly brought to me. dinner, overall the dishes very sweet or too salty. crab meats with fish maw soup had barely any crab meat, soup tasted only of salt so not flavorful. the best dish is the fried squab, tender and very tasty. beef cube with mushrooms, too salty. steamed chicken with ginger green onion sauce was tender and tasty but a little over salted. big pea sprout was okay, a little tough but maybe the sprout is out of season. Combination seafood clay pot with overly salty and had a sweet taste too, walnut shrimp didn’t have much mayo and too sweet but the shrimp was cooked just right. giant clam was tender but a little bland. they gave us free dessert, green bean soup (I didn’t eat it) but my family said not too sweet which is how Asian like their dessert. there is an automatic 18% tip added for a party of 6 but since we only a party of 5, tip was self added by us. they came to change our plate mid meal but only to two of the plates on our table. metered and residential parking. Residential parking was easier for me. the place is fairly big but the tables arrangements is a little tight. it was noisy and there was a guy next to our table who was the loudest in the whole restaurant.,he was very obnoxious and made it unpleasant to have to hear him throughout our meal (our party and his arrived at the same time).

Google
Good place for dim sum, no clearly labelled vegan options, would clarify with staff. Favorite veggie items to get are rice noodle roll w/ tofu and vegetable, soya chow fun, and salt and pepper tofu. Good place to go with omnis. Can be busy on the weekend at prime time so would recommend a reservation especially if going with a large group. There was no wait for lunch during the week.

Google
Came to this place a few times for dim sum. The restaurant is of decent size and pretty clean. I like that there are some booths for smaller parties; and some big round tables for up to 8-9 people. Excellent customer service; and good price. Street parking is fairly easy to find. Food is pretty good in general--noodle rolls, taro puff, fried sugar egg puffs, glutinous rice dumplings, shumai, just to name a few. I would recommend going early on the weekends, as it could get crowded.

July 2025: Came here for dinner and had more delicious food. Oysters on a sizzling platter, deep fried squab, sea cucumber clay pot, and winter melon soup were my favorites. Solid place for Chinese food! May 2024: Stopped by for dinner. Thought I would update my review. Dinner was still very good. Favorites included the special poached chicken 🐔 with ginger sauce, clams with black bean sauce, and spareribs. Would come back again for more delicious dinner. May 2018: Love eating here for dinner. January 2018; Great Chinese food.

Google
Dim sum is decent and service is okay. However, business even on Sundays is going south. There were plenty of empty tables when we left around 12 PM.

Google
The dim sum was excellent. Food was fresh and came piping hot. We ordered by checking off our favorites on the menu sheet and minutes later the food started coming to us. The service was great and although the house was full when we arrived (which is always a good sign), our wait only lasted about 10 minutes. Will definitely be back when we have a craving for great dim sum.

Google
A reasonable, priced hole in the wall family owned restaurant, but they serve a delicious variety of generous portions of dim sum and Chinese food. Fast and friendly service. We all left the restaurant stuffed with some leftovers. Although it was our first time, it won't be our last. We'll be back! If you have not been there, don't walk, run! Just to remind you, they get busy. Apparently, it's a popular pocket friendly place that serves delicious Chinese food! Cheers!

Google
Best 炸兩 (fried doughnut wrapped in rice noodle) we've found in San Francisco so far - HK quality. In general all the dim sum was good. Decent portion sizes and Wide selection of all the dishes you'd expect - even the unappetizing ones like pig gut. Service was quick and friendly. We got there after the lunch rush and they seated all 10 of us quickly. It's a decent size so the noise level wasn't too high.

Yelp
This is a neighborhood dimsum restaurant. Only street parking in the area. This is a casual restaurant with mainly Asian families here for dimsum. We sat down and ask for hot tea. Then we marked what we wanted from the list. Friends and I ordered about 11 dishes to share. Hai Gao, shrimp with corn dumplings, steamed spare ribs, salt n pepper tofu, steamed chicken feet, duck chins, sticky rice with sausages, egg tarts, fried meat dumplings, sponge cake, and etc. Food came out hot and delicious. Employees were attentive. Enjoyed the food and would def come back with family if I'm in the area.

Yelp
One of my favorite recurring dinners is a quarterly King Crab feast with my friends at Riverside Seafood Restaurant in the Sunset! We always call ahead to order the fresh crab, which can easily feed over a dozen people so definitely bring a large group! The amazing chefs here cook it for us 3 ways each time: 1. Deep fried in salted egg yolk batter with pumpkin and corn fritters 2. Sauteed with garlic over a bed of vermicelli noodles 3. Steamed with egg, chawanmushi style I've not had King Crab cooked this way anywhere else and it always hits the spot! Riverside Seafood Restaurant is such a gem and definitely gets 5 s for SAFAV: Service Ambiance Food Alcohol Value for Money

Yelp
One of my families go to takeout Chinese restaurants. We typically do the set menu and just swap out what we don't want for something else, they make it pretty easy and I just love not having to think lol Service is quick and always comes with a ton of food!

Yelp
It's been a while since I was last here. Found parking on the residential streets. Arrived at 11.30am on Tuesday, so there was plenty of available tables. Staff were welcoming and we were sat at our table promptly. Prices have gone up since I was last here and grouped into small, medium and large in terms of prices. We ordered a few favorites: Stuffed egg plant $$10.40, beef Cheung fun$7.50, shrimp dumplings $7.20, shu mai & chicken feet were $6.30. Tea per person is $2. Everything was good and as expected. Most Dim sums came in 4s, so a group of 4 people would be ideal, to try abit of everything. Definitely a great neighborhood Dim Sum eatery.

Yelp
This Cantonese restaurant is a fantastic find, with great food, big portions, and a bright, welcoming vibe. Every dish felt thoughtfully made and perfect for sharing. The Beijing ribs were super tender with a rich, tasty glaze, the clams in black bean sauce were full of flavor, and the sweet and sour shrimp had a great mix of crispy and tangy. The garlic eggplant also stood out - silky, garlicky, and very satisfying The front desk greeted us with a smile and had us seated quickly, and the servers were consistently attentive, courteous, and responsive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came for a Friday lunch. It was full, and no wait for our party of 8. Service was fast and friendly. This place looks run from the outside but inside it's your typical Asian style restaurant, not too big but very accommodating. We got numerous dishes but a few of my favorites were the sticky rice, chicken feet, and spareribs with the rice rolls. My aunt ordered some fluffy sugar bread. I'm not sure what it was called but that dessert was my highlight. Overall decent experience, not the best but definitely not the worst.

Yelp
So I was told that this place was legit. Maybe it has good Cantonese dishes for banquets and dinner, but dim sum was disappointing. We were able to get a table quickly at noon on a Monday. It's not a fancy Chinese restaurant. Just your typical hole-in-the-wall place where workers are hustling around and trying to get people in and out quickly. OUR PICKS ~ STEAMED BEEF BALLS ~ These were soft and tender. Just seemed smaller than other dim sum restaurants. 3.5/5 STEAMED CHICKEN FEET ~ Seasoned well and tasty. But you only get 3 feet and they chop them in half to look like there were 6. 3.5/5 BAKED BBQ PORK BUNS ~ Our friend took this home, so I don't know how these were but they looked glossy and good. But I can't rate them. COCONUT PUDDING ~ Quite bland without much coconut flavor. I don't think any cream or coconut milk was used. It tasted more like 2% milk and some extract and gelatin. This is one of my favorite dim sum desserts, although they gave us 3 big cubes, it was disappointing. 2/5 FRIED STUFFED TARO ~ The outside was dark. The oil used might have been old and that's why it was darker than normal. It was ok tasting. Just wish it was lighter in color. Small portion. 3/5 STEAMED STUFFED TOFU SKIN ~ These were small and tasted ok. Nothing special. Again, small portion. 3/5 BEEF RICE NOODLE ROLL ~ The noodles were not thin. These days, we have a higher standard for noodle rolls. The rice rolls served here are old school. It's not bad, but not great either. 3/5 PEA SPROUTS SPECIAL SAUCE ~ A Small dish of pea sprouts that were more tough than tender and tasted bland. 3/5 FRIED PUMPKIN SALTED EGG ~ I was expecting a lighter, crispier texture. This was kind of dense. However, you can taste the salted egg flavor. Just wish the texture was better. 3/5 I've had better dim sum elsewhere. They don't have regular egg tarts on the menu and only Portuguese egg tarts. These dishes were small, yet pricey. The tab came out to $80 without tip. If a friend recommended to get dinner here, I'd consider it, but for dim sum, I'd rather pay more for better quality.

Yelp
I' like to have Chinese food at least twice a week , so I'm familiar with many of the best Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area. Riverside's is one of my favorite . I've been coming here for about 25 years and I've always founded consistently excellent both in the quality of the food and the efficiency of the service. Generous portions and fresh seafood, Today I had my favorite sticky rice and slice fish porridge and turnip cake, perfect for lunch . I love this place

Yelp
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area, amazing authentic Cantonese dishes at very reasonable prices. You know it's a legit Chinese restaurant when 90%+ of the diners are Chinese - no frills no BS kind of place. Lots of regulars come here for both dim sum and dinners. Tonight we ordered a set menu and added a few more dishes - everything was spot on. Service was very attentive, they kept offering to switch our new plates and helped transfer dishes into smaller plates once the table piled up. Also, free corkage! Stand outs for me were the surf clams with vermicelli and lots of other seafood, sautéed seafood delight, and the stuffed chicken rice dish (call to pre order a day in advance). I've come here many times with friends for wine shares, baijiu shares, whiskey shares. The owners and staff are so friendly especially when you come back often and they begin to recognize you. But still make sure to make reservations - gets packed quite often!

Yelp
My great aunt loves eating here when she wants to get her Chinese food fix. We have been coming here with her for several years now. We are usually a party of 11-13 people when we come to eat and the staff are quick and attentive!

Yelp
Food is wonderful, reliable chinese dishes as you expect and have come to love. big menu, typical. can make reservations by phone ahead of time. walk in available too. but if you have a large group def just be safe and reserve because why play dangerously when it comes to mealtime. especially on holidays this place will be packed with families for christmas, mother's day, etc. plan ahead. dim sum available in morning, very packed on weekends. come early or come late for less crowd. they serve dessert complimentary after your meal, such as red bean soup or others. it rotates. parking is not hard. street parking.

Yelp
Riverside has been a local staple for dim sum in the sunset district for as long as I can remember. Although they don't serve using carts anymore, it's still a classic spot to drink tea and eat as little or as much as you want of quality dim sum. Some standout dishes include their porridge (preserved egg, pork liver), pan fried chow mein, and just about anything that comes out in a steamer. The price is reasonable for the times (about $100 to feed five) and the service is quick and the wait staff are friendly and as attentive as you can get at a dim sum spot. Weekends get packed and loud, so highly recommend dropping by on a weekday if you can. The dinner menu is solid too.

Yelp
I love coming here even though it is expensive but it is worth what I paid for and the service here is nice and always make it fun to joke around and mess around and the workers do work hard and this is a family ownership..

Yelp
Classic Cantonese Cuisine served via multiple courses banquet-style on a lazy Susan.. Pretty good service for a Chinese restaurant, Bright interior, and busy crowds, especially on weekend nights. It's almost as if this was the Chinese-American equivalent of "Original Joe's" for many of us in San Francisco! Riverside Seafood has been around for nearly 20 years now, but their food nowadays to us is our favorite pick for Cantonese-style cuisine whether it is for a fancy multi course dinner, a casual midweek to-go offering, or dim sum in the mornings. The food here is consistently good, even during the pandemic, and now, they seem to be at the top of their game. Our favorites here begin with the Beijing style spareribs - kind of an orange-infused glaze on that.. YUM.. The Lobster is always fresh here, and we have it over noodles, Beef, chicken and veggie choices are quite good as well, served with delicious sauces on most offerings. Kinda hard to go wrong here.. at least for us! =) Count us in as regulars here!

Yelp
This is our go-to for dim sum; we eat here most weekends. There has been a change in management recently, so I thought I should weigh in. For over 10 years (pre-covid) we were weekend regulars at Koi Palace, so we know what we like. The new owner at Riverside was previously the head waiter here, so there is continuity on standards but still flexibility for special dishes should the diners require. Last weekend we saw some old dude eating an interesting dish that only he ordered. The existing wait staff is the same, which is a good sign. Also, an old Koi Palace waiter we recognized is there now, too. We like the shrimp rice roll, soy noodles, har gow, gow choi gow, tofu skin roll (sin zuk gyun). Their fung zhao is good, but could use mandarin orange zest like KP used to offer years ago. The new menu has a few new items like bolo char sui bao which I had never seen before---that's the pineapple topping on a char sui bao (I had only seen that pineapple topping on nai wong bao). A couple of the standards like shu mai and har gow are decent but no longer made in house, if you know what I mean. Prices have gone up a little, but we usually get a bill in the low $40s and that hasn't changed. Get there early on the weekends (10am) and it's very quiet. After 11am it picks up. If you are going to order the chinese donut (sai yong) wait as long as possible (even to the end of the meal) before ordering, to make sure the wok oil is hot and they come out big and light and not smaller/dense/greasy. This restaurant represents good value, which is hard to find these days.

Yelp
Made another trip for dim sum on a weekday. It's not as good as before and the lunch crowd was mostly retired seniors. The meal with tip came to $70+ for 2 of us. The best dishes were: Beef chow fun with black beans, dry stir fry (no gravy) which was tasty Pork siu mai The fried taro dumplings were acceptable but I've tasted better. The not so great dishes: Lotus wrapped sticky rice 2 pieces and the rice was very goopy, as if over cooked or too much moisture. The worse dish was the Shanghai XLB. The dumpling wrappers were overly thick and doughy. The chive and shrimp dumplings were tasty but the wrapper dough fell apart easily and the ball of filling fell out when you tried to pick it up. Service was Ok. They take your order, bring tea, the plates come out and they bring your bill and boxes for leftovers. There's a 25 cents bag charge if you do take leftovers home.

Yelp
Very authentic Hong Kong-style Chinese food. Delicious they're known for their seafood. I don't eat a lot of seafood but last night we had salted fish and chicken fried rice, chicken gee mein, Westlake soup Chinese broccoli with steak cubes everything was delicious.

Yelp
Great food. Everything I ordered tasted amazing. The restaurant is an authentic Chinese Restaurant. I will try their dim sum soon. My server was nice he gave me a good place to vlog. It was lunch time so it was very busy . It was full of Chinese patrons so it is a sign of delicious. The flounder was crispy and crunchy. The sauce was just right. The fried rice ok the barbecue pork in it was dry and my vegetables were very tasty

Yelp
My mom's favorite Chinese restaurant in the city (at least currently - growing up it used to be Eight Immortals on Taraval - I'm sad it's no longer the same...). Whenever I go home for a visit, there's always ONE night reserved for a family dinner at Riverside. There's only street parking (not a surprise since it's SF), but there's NO issue find a spot and the area is relatively safe. The restaurant is no frills and homey - and you know it's legit and good when the restaurant is full on a random Wednesday night on a quiet neighborhood block. My mom usually orders and the dishes can vary depending on what she feels like, but she ALWAYS orders the giant scallop/clam thing with vermicelli. Very meaty, large portions. Pricey, but good. Definitely solid Chinese food - sometimes they are a bit heavy handed on the seasoning (not super consistent), but overall still good.

Yelp
The four of us had dim sum here today. We lucked out and got a table for four around 11:40am. The dim sum procedure hadn't changed. It's a paper menu where you enter the QTY next to the menu item with a provided pencil. Pros: * all the steamed items came to the table steaming hot. * teapot constantly refilled. * items shared was cut into half with small scissors at the table. * the soya chow mein was fresh and stir fried hot. Cons; * everything deep fried was lukewarm. Like it had been sitting in the kitchen. * fried dumplings with minced pork was very skimpy. * fried taro dumplings were a little dry and small. And lukewarm. There was a steady flow of customers on a rainy Saturday.

Yelp
Food is a solid 4/5 for everything. The missing 5 star would be the quality. Service is usually pretty quick. Although on the weekends if you don't arrive at the right time, there will be a long wait or you won't get much service as their attention is divided up. Very casual family restaurant, so you can expect noise and clattering. I personally like their beef noodle roll, chicken feet, and the steamed spareribs. I have tried the steamed soup dumpling (xiao long bao) but I think the wrapping is too thick so it doesn't taste as good.

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - Overall food was 3.5 stars. Fresh Prawn Fruit Salad - Have to admit, a very good start of the meal. Too bad for most of us, this was the best part of the meal. Fresh and with generous portions. See pictures, actually see pictures of all the food. Squid & Scallop with XO Sauce - Overall good, not sure if all of the scallops were cooked all the way as some felt/tasted like sashimi style??? House Special Combination Soup - I am NOT a soup person, but this was okay. I finished my bowl. Chef Special Chicken - More like steamed chicken with ginger sauce. One of my favorite dishes, but they did not do a great job here. It was not bad, but not great. The ginger could have been fresher, more flavorful, etc. Baked Lobster Braised with Superior Soup - Good, but not enough meaty pieces. Not enough tail pieces??? Deep Fried Crispy Squabs - Squabs have very little meat, and these were no different. But it also lacked flavor. Even with the added salt and pepper... Sea Cucumber Braised with Black Mushroom - I ate the mushroom only. Not a sea cucumber kind of person. And I was veggies out; if you are following, you know I have been eating extremely healthy the last few weeks. Steamed Fish - This was good also. Meaty. Fried Rice with Egg White & Dried Scallops - Another one of the better dishes. But you can almost not make this wrong. Dim Sum - Someone ordered one of these for each table, but did not communicate, so our table was confused. I am sure it was ordered for the "kids" as there was sure not enough to share. I sacrificed my share for the kids, lol. Dessert - I forfeit my bean dessert, but did take half of one of the donuts. Atmosphere - Medium size restaurant. The biggest challenge was the two unisex bathrooms as it was just NOT enough for ALL their Sunday lunch customers. Always a line. It did not help that it is located in a VERY busy narrow path from the kitchen to the dining room. See picture. Plus we have some seniors as guests that just struggled waiting in that long line. Open 7 days a week from 10am or 11am to 8:30pm. Street parking, good luck. We parked on Wawona by the park. Service - Overall service was 4 stars, rounding up as we ate during the busiest part of the day and had over 30 people in our party (with reservations). Good, considering it was a crazy busy Sunday. Of course, our 30+ people (with reservations) added to the chaos. Price - Almost $1700 including generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for 20+ years...? Not sure how many ownership changes. Remodeled in 2006.

Yelp
We had a reservation at 12pm on Christmas Day but we weren't seated until 12:15/12:30ish. Granted it was quite busy since it was a holiday and not many restaurants were open. Crowded inside but once we ordered the food arrived fairly quickly. We pre-ordered the stuffed chicken with sticky rice which was delicious with crispy skin, although the rice fell apart and didn't seem sticky enough. The lobster and noodles were good and they definitely didn't skimp on the lobster like other places do. We also ordered beef clay pot and garlic pea sprouts, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. From the dim sum menu: Tripe - I'm not the biggest fan of tripe in general but it was tolerable with the sauce. Crab meat rangoons - crispy outside and warm meat on the inside. Salt & pepper fish - can't go wrong with a classic! For dessert we ordered Portuguese egg tarts and my personal favorite (but I'm biased bc I love black sesame and anything mochi), the sweet sesame dumpling/black sesame mochi. The bill was about $300 for 6 people (so $50 per person) and we had some leftovers.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant, I was blown away on how good their dishes are. The food here isn't super salty, seasoned and cooked to perfection. You can get seafood or poultry here. I love their deep fried flounder and their steak egg tofu. The service here is meh but I really just come for the food. Another dish I recommend is definitely the black bean clams. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes good chinese food.

Yelp
I used to come here all the time with my family, it's been years and we decided to grab some takeout for Father's Day. When we went to grab our food, we noticed how crowded it was! Happy to see that. Honestly though, there are better Chinese food places around. We ordered the braised pork belly with mustard greens, walnut prawns, salt and pepper spare ribs, seafood clay pot, shrimp fried rice and the sweet and sour fish. The only dishes we enjoyed were the clay pot, fried rice and fish. This was probably the worst walnut prawn I've ever tasted, even Panda Express' version tasted better. The spare ribs also lacked any seasoning/flavor and tasted a bit stale. A positive thing is that they have really good chili here. Would I come back? Not any time soon, but not saying never!

Yelp
This restaurant is notorious rude and so illegal in service! I recently reserved a table for myself and friends. I arrived 30 minutes early to review Manu and hopefully to get a comfortable setting for us. The owner pointed to a table at middle of the road and won't give us table on the side by saying all the rest of tables are all reserved! Indeed 2 of the tables were empty though out the time we were there! 2ndly, they didn't have proper wine glasses and refused to show us any alternatives, so we were using tea cup for liquor. Lastly, the automatic add 18% tips on top of charging, not even giving us breaking list of charges; which is so illegal. I will indeed need to find out why this restaurant has such rules vs all others. Although I understand it is not easy to run business, but bullying customers in such fashion is very unacceptable!

Yelp
Good food. Unusual Cantonese dishes, showcase the chef team's versatility. You may want to ask for suggestion from the staff.

Yelp
Service was very rude if you dont speak Chinese.,will not came back here again and will tell friends and family not to eat and patronize this place.

Went here for family dinner. Service was decent much better than expected from many Chinese restaurants. They even changed our dinner plates. The family style set menu was pretty good and dishes were all large enough for the whole table. The food was good and decent prices as a local restaurant.

Yelp
Such a monster! We preordered a king crab several days in advance of our feast. The crab turned out to be ten pounds and we ate like no tomorrow. The chef made three dishes out of it: 1) with the body 2) with the legs 3) the inner shell fried rice Crazy good and fresh! Our favorite side dishes were giant clam and stir fried veggies wjth enoki mushrooms. Epic meal! Go for it!

Yelp
Food is amazing as always. A little bit more expensive than other spots but tastes better than most. Can get busy on weekends so i usually swing by on a weekday.

Yelp
Excellent dinner celebrating the Moon Festival with Taro Duck, Dry beef chow fun, Scallops and Peppers on Iron Plate with complimentary pumpkin dessert soup. Come to Riverside Seafood for friendly service and delicious food.

Yelp
Been here with my parents several times for dinner (so review is a tad biased haha) Street parking available only - area and restaurant does get fairly busy so just keep it in mind Service is standard - no complaints Salt and Pepper Pork Spareribs - my fave dish ever and they make it delicious here, super flavorful and tons of seasoning, I highly recommend it Beef Chow Fun - standard but yum, would recommend also Ong Choy - good quality and flavorful, would recommend Salt and Pepper Crab - delicious, highly recommend Solid neighborhood place for lunch and/dinner if you're wanting Cantonese food

Yelp
Great choice for vegetarians who enjoy dim sum. Excellent service, freshly prepared dishes, and bustling atmosphere with lots of Asian customers. Six of us arrived half an hour after opening on a Sunday, and got the last table available. Dim sum can especially be a challenge for vegetarians because many Chinese dishes are flavored with meat- or seafood-based broths and toppings, which isn't apparent by either the appearance or name/description. After checking with the kitchen, our waiter marked our menu to indicate which dishes were safe for the three vegetarians in our group -- and there were more than enough options, so we all left feeling completely satisfied.

Yelp
Riverside has become our new family restaurant! We've been coming here for the past few months but my brothers gf's family has been coming here for years. Like all family dinners, my mom usually orders for the table. We get everything from salted egg roasted crab, to fish cooked 3 ways, to the giant clams that are always a hit. Whether you're here to celebrate something, or just want dinner with the family, you won't be disappointed coming to Riverside :). Also, I always find parking in the area and they take credit card!

Yelp
Riverside Seafood Restaurant is staple of the neighborhood! In my personally experience, there is a good variety of Chinese food, but it is generally more on the OK side versus great. Always crowded, the decor is a blast from the past.

Yelp
Riverside restaurant is a local chinese restaurant in Parkside for a long time. Prices continue to increase, same as all the other restaurants during covid. It is regularly frequented by locals and on Sunday, many from the church across the street. Dim sum and dinner dishes are pretty standard. Nothing to rave about nor complaints either given the convenience and known expectations. Service is also what one would expect. Ambiance has not changed for years and years. If you want dim sum on the weekend, best to get there by 11am. Total cost for dim sum is approx $23-25/person. Dinner is about $30/person.

Yelp
Nice Cantonese restaurant in the Avenues if you can find parking. Very popular dim sum restaurant for lunch with the only negative being the lack of flavor in all of the dim sum. We had a variety of items which were all temperature hot but the lack of taste was disappointing. Maybe it was an off day for the dim sum makers?!? Good service, well lit and spacious restaurant.

Yelp
We like that restaurant a lot. They are kind and friendly. The food is delicious and reasonable prices. Actually this is the only Chinese restaurant we have dinner there.

Yelp
This place is okay. I give them an extra star because they've been around a long time and i have dined here over the years. But the food is okay, prices are okay but portions are small. Service isn't exactly charming. We met here as a party of 5 adults plus one baby. My aunt got in first and requested a table in this empty restaurant for exactly that: party of 5 plus 1 baby. When we all got seated, I asked for a high chair. This middle aged asian guy, most likely the owner or family of the owner, made it a point to remind me that my aunt had asked for table of 5. That's actually not exactly what she asked for. But nonetheless the guy kept reminding us over and over and then he had another waiter come over with the high chair and tell us that a party of 5 with baby is still a party of 6. Then I realized why. They charge automatic gratuity for a party of 6. That's why they're so adamant, rude, and petty. The irony is they'd probably have gotten a bigger tip if they hadn't done this. And don't even get me started on how they pander to certain groups of people.

Yelp
Simply, if you live in this area, what more to say than supporting your own dim sum restaurant? If I'm that lucky in Oakland, I will try to go everyday. We've ordered about 4 dim sum dish to sample (my mom can't eat a lot) and all of them are steamy/fresh. Taste is quite standard. I would not recommend for a special visit if you are not in the area but worth a try if you happen to be around.

Yelp
Came for dim sum on the weekend. Was crowded and had to wait 15m enough with a reservation. Food is average at best with adequate service. Minimum dim sum dishes are close to $6 but that's to be expected.

Yelp
Riverside opens at 10am on the weekends. This is great for those of us that have to get food for to-go for family lunches at 12pm or earlier. I got their lobster e-noodles, salt and pepper crab and crispy salt and pepper spare ribs. $120 total. The service was excellent. I was waiting outside and the waiter brings it out with a smile. He remembered me! I'm always happy with the food. Dim sum and dinners are fantastic. Great job everyone at Riverside.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for dim sum... This is the place to go. Some stand out food items include: Pan Fried Rice Noodle w/X.O. Sauce, Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, Tomato Beef Chow Mein, Shiu Mai and Haigow. Must save room for the Sweet Egg Flour Ball Puffs. Dinner is also great. The Lobster Yee Mein, Chinese Broccoli(gailan) w/beef, Steamed White Bass and Giant Clam are all outstanding. Must make reservations and arrive early as parking can be challenging.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this neighborhood restaurant based on a friend's recommendation and the background that he shared with me. I last dined here with my family over thirty years ago when it was known as Heavenly Ocean. After a series of ownership changes, I've been reluctant to try this place. Being tired of my restaurant rotations for our Saturday family takeout dinners, I found a takeout menu and preordered our order when they first opened. They open at 11 am and serve dim sum in addition to the family style menu dishes so I worried they would be too busy to take my order in the early afternoon. For our family of four, here's what we had: 1. Westlake minced beef soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ikE5HJbvLYvxyEZzl0GIrg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Pretty standard stuff as flavors and thickness was consistent and pretty good amount of minced beef on the bottom. 2. Sliced pork with mustard green (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5KJAVWi8KdjSabG4NMtZDg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Not having this for a while, I figured our family would enjoy this not so healthy treat made from the pork belly cut. Not overly fatty and a decent amount of skin. The flavors were perfect to accompany rice, white or fried. 3. Crispy taro duck (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=xz-kCzjtGsOo-QHuBEuzFg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - For me, the star of the show. I've tried this dish in recent years from a variety of restaurants and none of them are able to replicate the flavor, mouth feel, and basically recipe that I remembered in my late grade school and high school years. This is exactly what I remembered and they even provided the brown mushroom gravy that was the normal accompaniment for this dish. Think, a large dim sum taro puff without the meat filling and having a slice of lean duck meat as its base. Must order if you enjoy taro and duck. 4. Ong choy with fermented tofu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=EHEb8uIpuI_weCZ7Tj4jRQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Pretty well done and cooked just right with a decent amount of the fermented tofu. Only comment here, the kitchen might consider cutting the strands smaller so that they are in mouthful sizes. 5. Dried scallops with egg white fried rice (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=AelrO7K4txdDWfJtbZ7tvw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - My least favorite of the meal as it was pretty bland (no wok's breath flavor) and the ingredients (dried scallops and egg white) were on the skimpy side. The sliced pork and mustard green pepped this up though. When I arrived at 5:30 pm, there was only one large table near the cashier having dinner and couples and small parties were filtering in for dinner. My meal was bagged on a table beside the cashier so I handed the cashier/waiter my credit card and the other waiter gave me the food. Parking was not bad as I found a space across the street. Back to the background, my friend shared that the current owners used to have the Taraval Street neighborhood staple Eight Immortals Restaurant. I remember they had a fire and were closed for a very long time, likely when the owners took over this restaurant. Will be back and need to study their menu to find other old time Cantonese dishes from my childhood.

Yelp
I just ordered from this resto for the 1st time steamed rock cod fish just to try if it's good. The guy asked me how many pounds so i said just 1 pound. But he never said anything how much per pound is bec had i known the price per pound i would not have ordered it. Yes I'm serious that is a tiny steamed rock cod fish which is not even enough for 1 person.. this resto is waaaayyyy rip off
