One of my top favorite places to go! Beautiful property, connected to the "Louisville loop" and plenty of native plants and community gardens to see. Beautiful setup for photos. Great for bird watchers. Dog friendly as long as you have your pet on a leash and clean up after them. They are currently rebuilding the huge gazebo that they were known for in years past. This is a beautiful place and lots of fun things to learn about and explore.

I love this place. It's a great place to escape everyday life. From the museum itself, which is amazing, to the back porch rocking chair sitting, the river veiw, they have pavilions and restrooms that are always clean, beautiful flowers located in the front of the building, walking paths and my personal favorite, a stairway that leads directly to the water. They also have family events such as trunk or treat, pioneers day, and other small community events to encourage the community to visit. It's great watching the sunset while my kids enjoy walking the banks and playing on the sand. During our last trip there, the stairs were completely emerged from all the rainfall. Yet, still very beautiful and peaceful.

Wasn't intending on going to the landing at first. I came here to run some of the Louisville loop. But decided to have lunch on the banks of the Ohio. This is probably one of the most peaceful places that I've visited in a long time. I'm happy that it's in my city. If you need some place to go for a good quiet time, then this tops them all.

Discovered this gem last weekend. Beautiful and quiet. Will post more pics soon of the hummingbirds.

My husband and I love going to Riverside Farnsley Moorman to hop on the Louisville Loop and ride our bikes. Beautiful, well-kept property that has a beautiful garden taken care of by volunteers. Everyone we've met there is friendly and keeps an eye out for mischief. Never experienced any issues there.

There's a lot here. There's a community garden, a picnic shelter a rental hall, an abandoned boat dock, where Spirit of Jefferson was supposed to dock, but rarely did, and walking/bike path on top of the floodwall which connects it to other nearby historic buildings. There's the restored main house, and the separate kitchen building. There's a what I guess is a demonstration "kitchen garden" showcasing heritage plants close to the house. There's a couple of spots where archaeological digs have been going on. And then there's the river view which is pretty nice. It's a nice place to walk around, enjoy nature, and maybe take tour of the house.

Yelp
Yesterday was the ice cream social with free live music and free entrance to the historic home. There were docents inside the home who talked about the importance and history of this place. Presently they are expanding the visitor center building so the grounds are under construction. It should look good upon completion. Over the years I have attended lectures and presentations at this historic place located by the Ohio River. Remember to check their website for coming events.

Yelp
Of you've never been to the Moremen Family Chapel on the ground of Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen...a bit of history. "Originally built in 1888, Betheny Chapel was located at the intersection of Bethany Lane & Dixie Highway. Bethany Chapel was eventually called The Moremen Family Chapel. The land where the church sat had been donated by the Moremen family. The stained glass windows were installed in the 1940's. In the early 2000's the members decided to expand the church and offered the church to Riverside due to the family connections. Funds were raised to move the Chapel to the ground of Riverside where it was renovated and is now used for concerts, weddings, etc " We arranged a bluegrass concert here today with the Kentucky Blue band. A short video is included with the pictures. It's a beautiful small Chapel, fits maybe 100 people tops (might not even be that large) with excellent acoustics. If you have the opportunity to attend an event here, you should

Yelp
Stopped in before dinner after the torrential floods we have received. Was surprised by how much it had gone down. It was late evening and most everyone was gone. The park was quiet and clean. Well maintained.

Yelp
The historic Riverside Park at Farnsley-Moreman Landing. My family's favorite locale for short leisurely walks to watch the sunset on the west bank of the Ohio River. We like to watch River traffic from here. Our dog loves to walk and run with us even though we must still observe city pet ordinances that is okay by us. We hope that someday a dog run will be developed at this site, the location is excellent for it. Here you can have a picnic, reserve a pavilion, learn about history, take photos of vegetation, plant your own garden, observe wildlife, access Louisville's Loop Trail system or just go back in time and imagine what life was like during an era when river was King in moving agricultural commodities to major markets along the river system. Regularly scheduled Tours and seasonal events take place here too. Check it out!

Yelp
The short: this farmhouse is a gem of a historical site right on the river's side of the Louisville Loop biking and walking trail. The long: thank goodness for Living Social for introducing me to new fun places in my own backyard! I got a deal for here recently and finally made it around to visiting with one of my friends. Both of us are Louisville natives but had no idea about the historical farm just a short distance from downtown. I'm kind of a history geek, and everything from the story of how Bourbon is made to commerce on the Ohio River is right up my alley. Tours start on the half-hour, and at 2:30 we saw a short video about the history of the Farnsley and Moreman families who previously owned the property. Next up was a tour with one of the guides, who told us more about the property while showing us some of the original and period replica items still in the house. Fun fact: the entire house was constructed with items from the property, except for the window glass, which was shipped down from Pittsburgh in barrels filled with molasses as packing material. The best part about the whole visit was the scenic views of the Ohio River and the tranquility of the whole area. I could just picture steam ships puffing up to dock at the River's edge and bartering for timber for their engines before moving on. History still grows in the gardens with plants and trees from nearly 200 years ago sprouting in the ground. I will definitely be back this way to see more of the Louisville Loop and hope that if you ride the loop, your visit will include a stop at the Farnsley-Moreman house too!

Yelp
It is a nice 1-2 hour stop. Definitely worth the small entrance fee. The 1 hour tour is guided and provides some history on river traffic and the homes/farms which relied on it. There are picnic tables, a trail which goes into town, & an event space.

Yelp
Here for an evening wedding. Great venue overlooking the Ohio River. Can't comment on cost to rent but there seems to be adequate parking and well manicured grounds.

Yelp
We had a very enjoyable and interesting visit. Our docent was knowledgeable and friendly. Recommend the house visit to anyone interested in history and the Ohio River.

Yelp
Louisville Metro Parks owns two historic plantation homes, Riverside and Locust Grove. Of the two, Locust Grove is understandably the sexier of the two, since it's older, closer to the city, and has ties to Lewis & Clark. But Riverside is bigger (300 acres), has great views of the Ohio, and it also has the benefit of being a point on the Louisville Loop bike trail, 20 miles from downtown. Plus the slave-built mansion dates to the 1820s. We really enjoyed our hour-long, volunteer-led tour of the home and grounds. I can imagine that Riverside is hugely popular for weddings, especially since there is now a historic chapel on the property, moved this year from Dixie Highway. Even the absurd name says "perfect for weddings". Q: "Would you like to come to my wedding at Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing?" A: "I'll have my man prepare my waistcoat, breeches, and ascot tout de suite."

Yelp
I went here recently for an ice-cream social (which is not a joke, although I realize now how much it sounds like one) and they had a ton of neat little things set up for kiddos to enjoy. Train rides, food trucks, sprinklers, buckets, pony rides, digging in the dirt...it was a fun time. I didn't actually go in to any of the houses but everything was very beautiful. Oh yeah, bring some bug spray and, if you burn easy, sunscreen. By the time I was done, my legs were so eaten up that they looked like watermelons at a banana stand, if you know what I mean and I think you do.

Yelp
Found a Groupon for a tour here and it was so interesting. The docent really had an extensive knowledge of the family and history of this property, you can tell the employees have a real love for what they do. Beautiful view of the Ohio river, so peaceful. Learned a lot about what life was like in this house and how the family lived. Tour took about an hour and not crowded at all.

Yelp
We had a wonderful tour of the grounds & archaeological sites. Teresa Lee was our guide and she was wonderful- very knowledgeable, amiable and full of enthusiasm for KY history in general and Riverside in particular. The house and grounds are a great experience and every time I return to Louisville I make sure to visit.
