Riverview Restaurant Review - Cold Spring - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"Riverview Restaurant’s second-floor wraparound porch overlooks the Hudson River, and this is absolutely where you should try to sit when you make your visit. It’s been a Cold Spring landmark since 1941, and is an ideal spot to eat pizza with gravlax or maple-brined pork chops at lunch or dinner." - Team Infatuation

Our first visit as a family - including our happy pup - all out on the patio under a golden fall sunset. I visited in 2023 with my mom and it was just as amazing then as it was tonight. In fact she still remembered it when I texted her photos and she reminded me they had the best key lime pie ever (not on the menu this eve.) I have probably eaten at thousands of restaurants of all kinds and classes and this spot stands out. My son summed it up precisely when he opined that Riverview is what the aspiration of casual fine dining looks like. I can’t agree more. Go.

A few things worth a 5 star review. They serve a local beer from my favorite Upward brewing company in Woodstock. They are dog friendly and were very kind and attentive to my dog, she was very thirsty after a hike and was given some water, even before I got one, she’s got some treats too :) Food was delicious (beyond meat burger with cutest skinny French fries and today’s special - cucumber gazpacho, divine). I enjoyed cozy and classy atmosphere and the restaurant wasn’t busy during lunch time on Wednesday. The staff is extremely friendly, caring and i enjoyed chatting with Trisha. They take Venmo.

After a great day in Cold Spring I really tried to give this restaurant the benefit of a doubt. When walking in, the hostess, a women with blonde hair, stared at us. I didn’t mind it, but I was confused on where to sit and if we were even in the right entrance. After eventually being seated and after about 15 minutes of having our meal, my friend spotted at least 2 MICE running back and forth past the entrance to the main seating area. My friend let the waitress and hostess know, but the waitress looked at us, sighed, and said “ I apologize for the inconvenience,” while the hostess just seemed to walk away. We already felt unwelcome upon our first interaction so we tried to be polite and even said it’s not your fault. After this, I then saw a mouse jump by a woman’s foot by the table next to us and they obviously began getting nervous as well. The four of us including the two other guests at the neighboring table, tried to tell the hostess, but the hostess really didn’t have a response. The whole dining experience felt really uncomfortable, unfortunately, almost like I was intruding in someone’s house the way that the hostess would look at us when walking by our table…on top of this, we asked for two boxes, the waitress looked very confused and upset- I didn’t want to inconvenience her when I realized this was possibly an odd request by her reaction, but this is how our food was wrapped. Still gave a generous tip because I know how difficult serving can be, but was very disheartened by this entire experience. I’m honest so I will say the food was great and the bus staff was excellent (the waitress and hostess were very upsetting) Will never be giving this resturant my money again and will be notifying the health department.

Went in for a quick bite after a leisure hike. The food is NOT good and for the price a CRIME. The $22 10” pizza with caramelized onion and bacon was not good. Extremely salty and the white sauce tasted like cream cheese. The $15 salad was a complete joke. Wish I took a picture. Two miniature slices of beet thrown in with about 20 pcs of lettuce. Only restaurant in 2025 that doesn’t accept credit cards…only cash. After the rude hostess sat us, we should have left. Trust your gut and save your gut. Skip this. Lots of other places on Main Street.

Google
It’s cash only. We ordered from the daily special menu plus the pizzas for the kids. The mussels were just so so, and I had better in a place just a short distance away for less. I did not care about the pasta at the bottom of my dish. The pork dish was delicious. The kids liked the cheese pizza. The dinner bread had good flavors. Yet, at the end of our meal, the dishes seemed to be collected in a rush, and I felt rushed to finish. And we left without ordering dessert. If I did not carry enough cash with me, I won’t go there.

This past Saturday night, we had such a wonderful dining experience! Our waitress was absolutely fantastic—she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and made the evening flow seamlessly. The food was delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The ambiance was nice and welcoming, with just the right amount of energy in the room. It was busy but never felt overwhelming. The only downside was that the temperature was a bit warm—improving the air conditioning would make the experience even better. Aside from that, everything else was fantastic, and we would definitely return!

Google
Can't say enough great things about this spot. The service was awesome, our waitress was so sweet and made the night extra special. The food was delicious and the place was just right- beautiful view, quiet, soft lighting and perfect ambience for a lovely evening. We came here after a hike on Bear Mountain and were very hungry. Didn't want to eat at the Restaurant at The Inn and looked elsewhere and really glad we found this place. Highly recommend.

Yelp
A gem of a local restaurant in Cold Spring, NY. Great for the locals and for folks up here for hiking and visiting the area. Attentive, friendly service which makes you feel welcome. Go for the outdoor seating during sunset. The views of the Hudson river, mountains in cold spring while the sun sets in the area makes for a wonderful ambiance with your meal. Fresh tasty items. Go for the tender pork chop, the tuna tartar with avocado, and any of the fresh seafood pasta dishes. Had a wonderful meal here and will be back.

Yelp
Cold Spring, NY - the restaurant was quite full on a beautiful sunny weekend so we could not get one of the tables with a view of the Hudson River (albeit over a parking lot), but they were able to quickly seat us. My fish & shellfish stew was full of seafood and tasty. My husband ordered the San Damiano Pizza with beefsteak tomatoes. While the tomatoes looked beautiful and appetizing, it was better in concept than execution, as they let out a lot of liquid, making the pizza unfortunately rather soggy. The menu changes seasonally and offers a variety of surf, turf, pastas, brick oven pizzas, as well as vegetarian options. Service was good - family friendly and they even gave my toddler a cute little mushroom sippy cup. Note they're cash only.

Yelp
Incredible view, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was beyond my expectations! Seafood and pasta are my favorites and they are experts at both! Run don't walk to this gem.

Yelp
Came here after a hike on the Bull Hill Short loop. Very welcoming staff, and excellent service! We were seated toward the outside which offered a beautiful view of the river. However, there were a lot of bugs on the window sill (didn't bother me TOO much though). Our server was super nice and all staff kept our ice water constantly refilled. We ordered the fried calamari, Diablo pizza, and baked chicken. I loved the calamari! The Chinese mayo sauce was sooo good. Pizza was not bad, sauce was bright and tangy. The chicken was not bad either. The mash and gravy alongside it was very good! They accept Venmo, cash, check and have an ATM machine in case you need cash!

Yelp
Came here on a cold day and was seated in the tent area which was quite chilly, even with my coat on. The pizza I got wasn't great, and tasted like something I could have made myself (I am not a good cook).

Yelp
Fabulous! Great service and the food selection was excellent. Cash only which we knew going in based on reviews.

Yelp
The owner met us at the front door and was super friendly. She gave us a spot right near the widow for a beautiful view of the river and mountains blanketed with autumn leaves. We ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. It was topped with basil and ricotta cheese. The ricotta on Eggplant Parmesan was a new experience for me. But it was all very delicious! I must say, the eggplant skin was a little tough to chew on at times which could probably be mitigated by a slightly thinner cut. Other than that I loved every bite! I would definitely eat here again and next time I am in the Hudson Valley I definitely will. Yum!!!!

Yelp
The food was delicious, and the price was right. The view was spectacular, and the service excellent. Love the decor. Our table was an occupied when we came, and we were a little rake so we had drinks at the bar. We are in the river room and were not disappointed. Got the fish cakes with Cesar salad and the portions were generous and the food was delicious. We ordered a primavera pizza too, but could have skipped it. However, it was delicious. This place is totally worth it, and treats you right. Definitely going again!

Yelp
Run, and owned by a local family, this is where families who reside in the village truly eat, at the bar, in dining room, solarium with stunning views of Storm king Mountain, across the Hudson River at it narrowest point. Seasonal back terrace is heaven on hot day with melon, goat cheese salad , as the sun sets in the Highlands. Not where you go for first romantic date, where you go for life, or if lucky, they have room for your family. Lori (co-owner) will ensure your seated in best possible spot, scanning all potential areas 3 visible from one spot, and you child, will be kindly welcomed, to eat his first homemade cheese ravioli. His review at 5 - 6 was, "Is this heaven?" We value food not filled with chemicals, the amazingly loyal staff, as it's truly a family business. Casual day time outside. Cocktail formal polite on evenings or in the formal areas, but jeans with tennis shoes are fine, simply not the normal wear in more "formal" indoor rooms. Husband Jim Ely is the soul of the town. Donating to so many fundraisers, amazed how they juggle it all. Perfect place after hike on back terrace at 25, to a formal brunch for your grandmother, family, friends, after a special event or the church just several blocks away. Though religion is never pushed or discussed in such a unique spot of both beauty, geological, historical, layers floating around you as you dine on homemade cucumber soup, no one can ever equal. Lobster bisque in ur bathrobe, looking at Central Park, is hard to equate, such different settings, however that historic.

Yelp
The waiter was extremely nice and did a great job HOWEVER!! The hostess?? Was very rude and racist. The host and hostess are white and we were the only POC people dining. The hostess gave us attitude when we asked if we can eat by the window of the view, she said no that they are saving it for people who made a reservation for fathers day. We made one for fathers day too!! Crazy part was the table we asked for, the people never came! So we could have sat there. After that she went to check on all the other tables but ours. Also the food was mid nothing stood out and the gelato was not gelato but geocery store ice cream.

Yelp
READ HERE !! READ HERE!! They accept Venmo. Venmo is accepted !! Where to begin? First off, location. This restaurant is located perfectly for easy access from either Cold Springs village or from any of the various hiking trails that end at Cold Spring Next up, service: our server was fantastic, but I've forgotten her name !! You'll notice on the menu that they only take cash or checks - but this isn't strictly true, as we were leaving due to not having any cash our waitress let us know they'd also except Venmo. I ordered the Diablo pizza, while my mouth tasting companion () ordered the sirloin burger )( a daily specials. He wasn't able to give a tin of feedback, but certainly felt satisfied I ordered my pizza without bell peppers (sorry, you didn't make the cut peppers), it was pretty good!! Listen, would I write home about the food I ate here? No. Would I recommend taking the train for the sole purpose of getting a bite to eat here? Absolutely not. Would I mention this spot if someone asked where to get food in Cold Springs? Sure. Now, our waitress was confident that this was the best restaurant in Cold Springs. I don't doubt it, but not because this place is strong - because the rest of the place is decent at best.

Yelp
Just not good. A very limited menu, inattentive staff and subpar food. The mussels were mushy and the broth was extremely salty. Weird pricing when in the restaurant one pizza is in the 18 to 19 dollar range and if you take it to go, two pizzas are less then 25 bucks... It made me not want to order a pizza in the restaurant. And cash only?? No thanks.. won't be going back.

Yelp
This is the first suggested waterfront restaurant when we searched up the town. So we went right after our trekking trip at Mt Taurus. We came as walked in. Though we were seated right away , of course , with no reservation at all,we were seated all the way in the back. The purpose of coming hear for a view became useless. Food was good. Service was great. We had great wait staff. He deserved our more than 20% service tip. One star less review for our table location, our view -restroom ! Parking is a little struggle. Full when we arrived . The next parking spot is the city sponsored lot, you need to have an app to parked your car in the premises. Close to the train station. Walking distance to the Main Street. It is a cash only restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Everyone mentions this in their reviews, so I'm going to put it at the top: Cash only! They do have an ATM out front for anyone who misses that, but good to plan ahead. Have been here a few times, and always been happy with what we've had. They have a deceptively large menu -- there's the standard menu, and then a specials menu which is kind of another whole menu. The food is always fresh and prepared well; the servers always kind, good and helpful. If you're a meat eater, I've enjoyed their steak and burger options. Their french fries are what you'd expect with steak frites; thin but flavorful and not greasy at all. Great standard in town to go back to again and again.

Yelp
The super cute family-owned restaurant is filled with beautiful people who welcome you like someone is welcoming you at your home. My husband bought me here while we were driving around cold spring to celebrate our engagement anniversary. We came here only for a pizza but we stayed for the desserts and we were so happy about our decision. We tried fungi pizza that came with mushrooms and spinach - the taste was very subtle and the crust was so good. It almost felt like we were eating a naan pizza. Niyomi suggested us to try tiramisu and it was soo good. She bought us a tiny dessert tasting platter that had Gianduja, Keylime pie with yummy raspberry sauce, Egg Nog creme brûlée (so delicious) and Semi sweet chocolate mousse. We are surely going back! Also, if you go around sunsets you can enjoy your dinner with very beautiful view.

Yelp
New favorite spot in Cold Spring. Stopped in for a drink and ended up getting a few apps. Amazing!! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
The view can't be beat. Too bad the food is barely edible. Our hostess and bussers were very nice, but our waiter was not very friendly and never checked to see how our food turned out. The burger and fries looked good but the meat and cheese were subpar, and the fries were soggy and lacking flavor. The basket of bread was delicious, but not enough to bring us back.
google avatar

Ronny T.

Yelp
We stopped by for dinner while in the area and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. There's not much in this area so it's a small pool. We also didn't have a reservation so didn't get one of the tables by the window. Food was good and service was fine. Cash only but there's an ATM by the bar.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious. Wine and beverages were great. Many options with a variety of pricing. Pizza crust was clearly homemade and delicious. They were able to sub some gluten free pasta in one of their dishes for someone in our party.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful view and ambiance. The table we were sitting at were very small and we struggled getting all the dishes on it. The food was good not great, we all felt it needed more flavor in general. Worth a stop for the view

Yelp
Riverview restaurant was such a delight. Right off the bat..... THIS IS A CASH ONLY establishment. However, they have an ATM, on premises. The complimentary bread was very good. Here's point thing that I LOVE about complimentary bread...... when it's served with soft, and perfectly salted, butter, you're getting another Yelp star, right off the bat. When I don't have to sit on the frozen butter squares, that's a plus. We started with the Cuban Black Bean Soup. The soup had a bit of soft cheese, which blended in perfectly with the soup, and added to the deliciousness. Our entrees were the Cheese Ravioli and the Fungi Pizza. My daughter's favorite dish is Cheese Ravioli. She said, that this cheese ravioli was on the level of her favorite, which is at Serendipity III, NYC. The staff were constantly checking on us and filling our water glasses. Mindy, our server, was EXCEPTIONAL. She made sure that we were comfortable throughout every course and always smiling. If you're ever lucky to have her, you'll be treated like royalty. I highly recommend this restaurant and will DEFINITELY return, when we revisit Stonecrop Gardens, in the summer and fall.

Yelp
We came here for a celebratory dinner on our first ever trip to cold spring. We were very impressed with everything we had. We each had a baked clam to start. My dining partner and I both had specials for dinner - mine was a seafood pasta and his was a stuffed flounder. Everything was great but the stuffed flounder was a real stand out! We were also very impressed by the bread pudding we shared for dessert. The wine selection isn't huge, but we both had a very nice rose. Overall, we really enjoyed it and will definitely return next time we're in cold spring.

Ericka M.

Yelp
This is our to go to place in Cold Spring. In the summer we go there to sit on the deck to eat. Sometimes we go to have appetizers and drinks. I took my mom there and now this place is her and her friend's best place to go to. Her friends have started taking their families there. This place Is the best place to go when in Cold Spring. This place will never disappoint.

Yelp
Pretty decent take out, pizza is tasty & quick. Lots of old timers at the bar who give (some) newcomers the look of death when you walk in...whatever lol. Doubt I'd sit & eat but I'll check the atmosphere when the weather warms & hopefully the crowd diversifies. Love that they have a seasonal menu & take phone orders. Cash or checks (lol) only.

Steve R.

Yelp
Riverview is the perfect neighborhood restaurant: delicious, creative cuisine served by attentive wait staff in a warm, friendly space. We always look forward to an evening at our favorite restaurant in Cold Spring.

Steve Z.

Yelp
Loved the food! I had the BLT Taco and my wife had the Salmon. Both were fantastic. The Cherry Cobler for desert was also amazing.
google avatar

Steph W.

Yelp
We decided to dine here specifically for the Riverview room with reservations but they seated our large party of 9 in the main dining room. You can still have a view depending on where you're seated. Service was stellar. Unfortunately, food was very subpar--overpriced Italian dishes. A dish of eggplant and cheese shouldn't cost $18. Two pieces of short ribs was $28 with some potatoes and carrots. The bread was very dense and nicely seasoned. The consensus was unanimous. We ordered dessert and one of them was missed so we canceled it, however the server ended up giving it to us in a baggie to go for FREE!

Yelp
A couple of friends and I were in the area because we went for a hike @ Breakneck Ridge. After a few hours completing this hike, we decided to find a local place to eat. Of course we had to look for something with a view :) Riverview was really close to where we were at the end of the hike, it's by the water so we decided to come here. It was pretty busy so we had to wait about 10 mins or so prior to being seated. We were able to get a seat in the front/outside area which was nice because we had somewhat of a nice view (the parking lot is the main view, then the water/mountain). Server was good, food was good, drinks were okay.

Yelp
We found this place by chance on yelp as we were looking for a lunch place after hiking and before going to Storm King. They had covered outdoor seating, but it was a cold day, so I was still pretty cold sitting outside. Distanced and limited capacity indoor seating is also available. We shared the fried calamari to start. This was served quickly after we ordered, and came with an Asian influenced sauce. The calamari was delicious and perfectly cooked. For mains, my husband had the ricotta ravioli, while I had the eggplant parm. Both the mains were good, satisfying and flavoursome. Mine tasted like the heavier of the two dishes, with a heaping of cheese atop the eggplant slices. The service was very friendly and efficient. Prices were decent. Would recommend this place for a meal in Cold Spring area.

Yelp
Food was great. Ambiance was fantastic. Really nice little town that's about a 20 minute drive from West Point. Excellent pizza(dave portnoy reviewed it). Good drink selection, too. As many others have noted and it states, this is a cash business. They do NOT accept credit cards.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
I recently stopped off here after a hike, the price was insane and the food was just meh. I ordered a ravioli because i was curious how it was. The ravioli wasn't that great. Barely any ricotta in it whatsoever. The sauce was also just mediocre. For 6 ravioli it came out to $20. What a ripoff.. i'

One of my favorite restaurants in Cold Spring to dine. The food is always outstanding and the service is spectacular. Love Jimmy and Lori and Natalie. The entire staff is Amazing. Highly recommend ..Best pizza and desserts ..

Yelp
If you asked my parents they'd probably rate this spot a 4.5, I however am not as convinced. We came here on a day trip adventure and after researching a few spots, we landed on Riverview based on the menu. While reservations were available and we made them, not sure how much it counts for as it was difficult to get anyones attention and we ended up sitting at the bar. So that said, service was spotty... we ordered wine and a cocktail, wine was good, cocktail was subpar, I ordered an amaretto sour and while I saw the bartender pour the liquor, it was 99% sour mix. For food we ordered the Cod, Swordfish and Sita pizza. According to my parents the fish was delicious as for the pizza I didn't find it to be anything special. The atmosphere was what we were looking for but the lack of staff guiding folks coming in caused a docking of points. If I return to the area I will likely try another spot. However, I will note there were several locals so it might be a better fit for others than myself. Pricing was decently average $120 w tax which is expected for a tourist area and having ordered 3 entrees and drinks.

Yelp
I visited the restaurant on Wed, 1/29/2020 with my wife for lunch and was very satisfied with the service, ambiance and food. Once I arrived I was greeted by an elderly gentleman who I believe is the owner. He gave us a table facing the Hudson River and the mountains. Even though we had to be indoors due to the cold temperature we were still able to enjoy the view. The area is really quiet, it's the perfect place to spend the day and take a break from the NYC rush. Our waiter Manuel was very friendly and attentive. For lunch we ordered the sirloin burger and the Basilicata pizza and shared both. (They we're about $15 each). Both were very tasty. I had 2 draft beers (about 6.75 each). Since I live in NYC the prices are reasonable but it may be a little expensive if you live upstate. As other reviewers have mentioned they don't accept credit cards but they have an ATM machine and if I'm not mistaken they will reimburse you the $2.00 fee. I brought cash so I didn't have to use it. I definitely recommend this place. Thank you Manuel for the great service and pleasant conversation.

Yelp
When we were sat, we asked if we could sit closer to the window, but the server was reluctant to do so, even tho there were empty tables... so we just accepted whatever seat was given. I really wish that they told us they accept only cash as payment BEFORE entering the dining space. But they only mentioned it at the end of our meal (which was not tasty). We didn't have cash, so we used their ATM, and it did not work. After trying the ATM four times, one of the managers said I could Venmo her instead.... Again, they should've said that at the beginning too. Super disorganized. The internet in the area was not working well, so it was very inconvenient. I finally connected to their wifi and paid after all of these different attempts. The manager came behind me and told me to tip her more. Bc this was so chaotic and the food wasn't great, I didn't think it deserved much of a tip due to bad service and experience... to make matters worse, the manager commented this rude remark on my Venmo transaction (see photo). I always tip 20%, but this was a very rude encounter and I do not want to give extra money to something that pretty much ruined my trip to cold spring.

Glen L.

Yelp
Horrendous food. Pork belly tacos really means slice of bacon in a taco. Taco was dripping water. 19 dollars haha. I could have gone down the street for a BLT and been much happier.

Yelp
Outstanding food with top-notch service in Cold Spring. Highly recommend the polenta special as well as the wedge salad and eggplant parmesan. If you're visiting the Hudson Valley, be sure not to miss Riverview. Our date night here was the highlight of our weekend getaway to the area.

Yelp
We love this restaurant - they have delicious high-end entrees but also some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. We have been here twice when visiting our West Point cadet. The servers are awesome - you can tell there is a great relationship between the kitchen and floor staff, we've always gotten great recommendations for the best of the best being served that night. The pomodoro pizza is not to be missed and any "stuffing" with seafood tastes like a high end fish cake. Salads are fresh and dressings are homemade - drinks are generous and the ambiance is happy but not raucous. We love this place!

Yelp
More like "ParkingLotView". Food is mediocre. Staff seems on edge and I don't blame them with their presumed owner staring at all of them with a cracked-out expression. Go somewhere else. Cold Spring is a beautiful place but it has little to offer as far as the cuisine goes. This place is suitable for geriatrics, just like every other establishment around here. Get some Chinese at Ming Moon and sit on a bench for a better experience.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Pretty good place but not a good view. Service staff was excellent. Small and local vibe. Food was similar to the view - just OK. The pasta was over cooked but the price wasn't too expensive. The mushroom and spinach pizza was great. Cash only is a bit sus. Probably won't be back.

Herve S.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Cold Spring by a wide margin. Consistently good food and very fine staff. Jim Ely is hands on and I only wish that the alcoholic beverages were not so small so that I could hit that 5th star. Beautiful view of Storm King Mountain at sunset, so if you are not a cocktail enthusiast, don't miss it!

Yelp
Stopped by this place because of the great reviews. I was in cold springs after a long day of hiking. A couple of things made me remove stars from my review. One was that the place didn't seem so hospitable. I had to ask for menus and tables sat down after our table and the wait staff took their orders before ours. I also dislike that this place doesn't accept credit cards. For a fancy place with kind of pricy entrees, you would think they would accept credit cards. The food was mediocre. The table bread was good. It was a soft warm focaccia bread. I had the penne with chicken and the dish seemed to lack veggies. A couple of pieces of broccoli doesn't cut it. My friends had the sirloin burger and that seemed tasty but the fries are shoe string size which I'm not a fan of.

Yelp
Stopped by this quaint riverside spot for lunch and it was wonderful! I had the black bean soup and the beet salad. So yummy! The bread was amazing! Hubby had a pizza and really liked it too. Our server was very welcoming and attentive.

Yelp
I enjoyed an excellent dinner after a long hike (bring plenty of cash). Started with a cold can of cider and some complementary focaccia, which was quite good, warm and moist, dipped in a bit of good olive oil in a bottle on the tabletop. Started with burrata, served with peppers and portabello mushrooms (needed a little salt). My entree was a special -- curried cauliflower linguine. It was surprisingly tasty. The cauliflower was sliiiightly too al dente, but the texture of the pasta and the other veggies was good and the saltiness and sauciness levels (the sauce was basically spiced oil; there may have been some parm) were perfect. Not sure why; I sorta expected mediocre primavera, the kind so many places serve. This wasn't that. My wife, who isn't on Yelp, had the orange salmon with frisée salad. Delicious, she says. We share the chocolate mousse, which we agree was fantastic. Firmer than expected.

Yelp
My fiancé and I took a day trip from NYC up to Cold Spring over the weekend and stumbled upon the Riverview Restaurant on Saturday night for dinner. We did not have a reservation but we're promptly seated. The restaurants has a very nice feel to it. It would be great for dinner with family, friends or to celebrate a birthday. The patio area looks out to the Hudson river. There is a barroom and a formal dining room. We were seated in the dining room. There was lite music in the background and there was pleasing artwork throughout. Our server was lovely and gave us an iPad to look at the specials. Service was solid. We shared an order of fried calamari to start. It came out hot and tasty. For mains we ordered two specials. I had a orecchiette pasta with a garlic vegetable medley and he had a sirloin burger with shoe string fries. Our dishes were both tasty. He said his burger was good, but not special. My pasta was tasty and the noodles seem to be made fresh. All in all, it's a nice spot to visit.

Yelp
My review is not so much for the food (which was OK, nothing to rave about) but for the customer service and their cash only policy. First off, we were not notified that there was a cash only policy. Whenever I go to a restaurant that is cash only I always see a sign because (a) not everyone has cash on them (b) this helps individuals make an informed decision if they want to eat here. This isn't the problem with my interaction with the restaurant. When my group was ready to pay for our meal, we didn't have enough cash for the whole meal but saw on the check that the restaurant would reimburse us for the $2 transaction fee. We thought that this was a good company policy for being cash only and used their ATM. However, when I provided the receipt showing I used their ATM and the sequence number (as requested) to my male server he told us "not to worry" and simply took the cash and NEVER returned with our receipt or change. Granted the difference was approximately a 20% tip, I did not appreciate that (1) it was assumed we were going to tip that much (what if wanted to tip more??) and (2) that we never received a receipt indicating that we had paid for our meal. We waited for a while wondering if our server was going to come back with our change and receipt. It never happened so we left. Not only was I NOT reimbursed for the $2 transaction fee that the ATM charges as per restaurant policy but given it was a generic ATM my bank charged us an additional $2.5 fee for using a generic ATM. It's really not about the $4.5 that we loss but the lack of respect we were treated at the end of our meal and lack of transparency with their supposed "reimbursement" policy.
