I stayed here with my 16 year old son while we were on vacation in July. We are from the East Coast and it was his first visit to the Northwest. ||The employees were very helpful and it was truly service with a smile as they poured my coffee in the morning at the reception desk. The view of the river and snow capped mountains is real. ||The rooms were pleasant, clean and the amenities were ample. Hood river is pricey in the summer but River View Lodge most certainly offered value. Thumbs up in my book.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived at Riverview Lodge, and graciously able to get into our comfortable room a bit early. The room was very clean, with everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable we are looking into buying a mattress topper to sleep as well at home. We had a lovely view of mountains and rivier.

Google
Booked my overnight trip just a week before, last minute planning for a wedding at Mt. Hood Organic farms. Communicated that I might be showing up a bit early and everything was all set! Room was nice and cool even on the second floor, had all the basics you would want in a hotel and it was clean! attended the wedding a few hours after getting in, made my way back and was happy to see how close it was to downtown where the event continued! So I was just a short walk away! Again, it wasn't anything fancy and I was there for less than 24 hours but it did everything I needed it to do! I would recommend to anyone who needs a place to lay their heads.

Google
The rooms are very clean and updated! Comfortable bed. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. Our toilet was leaking water.when we got in the room, It was repaired very quickly and the area around it was re-sanitized. I highly recommend for a great place to stay.

Google
Absolutely thrilled to have chosen this lodge for my 3 nights stay. Although I had seen a few negative reviews, but the many positive ones and proximity to the waterfront and downtown made me to try it out and I was so glad I decided to stay at Riverview Lodge. I now know the manager has changed very recently, which explained the negative reviews by those customers who stayed here earlier. The staff was very welcoming and the extra effort they put in to make us comfortable was very evident. Clean room and bathroom, very comfy bed, microwave, refrigerator, large TV, coffee machine and a great location..I cannot ask for anything more for the price I paid. Must also say, while the pool was awesome, the hot tub was not working because they are in the process of installing a new one which I totally understand will take time and resources. Will surely say here every time I visit Hood River!

Google
I enjoyed my stay at the Riverview Lodge in early-May while visiting the Hood River area for some spring photography. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the price was right. Apparently the room was recently renovated and it showed. I did not find the sliding door to the bathroom and light switch location to be a problem as described in other reviews. I did not use the pool so don't have an opinion on that item. I will stay here again.

Lovely and relaxing stay at this spacious motel. We had a view of the river and woke up to a beautiful view. Had a bedtime swim in their indoor pool. Walking distance to town. Wish we could have stayed longer!

An year ago had been here for a night, Was disappointed. Would not have imagined booking here again. As it so happened had to visit hood river on an official work. Booked my self at River view with reluctance !!!!. Wow what a pleasant surprise , The rooms were totally renovated under the new management, awesome. What a pleasant stay. Look forward to visit again this summer itself with family for a memorable stay. I would rate my experience as 7☆ in a 3☆ hotel. All credit to the new team. CHEERS

Yelp
Great little place , clean and well kept . We stayed in one of the newly remodeled rooms, and the attention to detail was not skipped . Beds are so comfortable that we had to ask the girl at the office where she got them. Costo, she said . Reading the prior reviews, I seem to think people were the rude ones . She helped me find dining with our dog , gave us great places to go hiking, and went out of her way to ensure we had a wonderful time . We will be back this summer. we have already booked the room . Great value, great people all together, just a fun stay .

Yelp
Every time we have stayed at the Riverview Lodge, we have enjoyed our time there immensely! This last visit was with my daughter and my grandson. We were able to secure rooms 28 and 29, and had a wonderful stay! The pool was fabulous, Tami in the front office is amazingly accommodating, just waiting for the hot tub! Looking forward to our next visit!!

Yelp
The entire room wreaked of bleach and smelled like it was covering the smell of cigarette smoke. The shower didn't drain and the toilet leaked water the entire trip. When we requested repairs to be done, we were told that they didn't have someone to fix it. They couldn't move us into a different room and they didn't offer a refund. The woman at the desk was very unpleasant as well, even when we picked up our keys. Just listen to the reviews, it's not worth your money or the stinging you will feel in your eyes from the bleach.

Max M.

Yelp
Service was rushed and rude, they changed the checkin time from 3pm to 4pm, despite the confirmation email saying 3pm. Rooms are clean enough but the shower barely works, just a room temperature dribble. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Riverview Lodge On 5/17/22, I stayed at the Riverview Lodge in Hood River, Oregon. It is an older property, which mean big rooms and well-constructed. That means I was able to get a good night's sleep without hearing any noise from my neighbors, or outside noise. The room had a microwave and mini fridge. It came with a nice sized TV. This motel is conveniently located at the top of Oak St., which is the main street that most of the local shops and restaurants are located on. My room was $100 + taxes ($109 total). If you have ever stayed in Hood River, you will understand what a good deal it is. The only down side was the water presser for the shower was a little low, but that is not uncommon for older buildings. Also, OR has lots of laws re: conservation, so it may well have been a special kind of shower head. This motel has a pool/spa and free Wi-Fi. There are lots of free travel brochures and booklets in the office. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. Highly Recommended!!!

Yelp
The room was immaculately clean. The sheets and towels smelled fresh. I like that there is no carpeting. The shower was stocked with Paul Mitchell shampoo and good quality toilet paper. The lodge has been updated. Great location.

Mary M.

Yelp
We stayed for 2 nights and will not go back. Tammy who runs the front desk was very rude! No dresser in our room we had to keep our luggage on the floor. 1roll of toilet paper for a 2 night stay and when we asked for more she questioned us on why we needed more. Floor was so dirty! Coffee pot was gross it wasn't clean. Spa had no water.

Yelp
I made a reservation via booking.com and paid, but then when I arrived at Riverview Lodge they asked me to pay again. Booking.com. They told me to file a claim with my bank which was denied because I authorized the transaction. When I called the person at the front desk to ask about the double payment she said she would look into it, but never told me when she would call back. After a few days of waiting, I opened a case with booking.com which was denied. When I called back to get an update she was extremely rude and upset that I opened a case with booking.com. I told her that she was being rude and she hung up on me. They informed me that they are not set up to receive payments from booking.com. They should not be on booking.com if they are unable to receive payments from them.

Yelp
Stayed in room 21 for 1 night. Came home with fleas on my dog. Doubt any preventive flea treatment is being done here.

Yelp
I overnighted at the Riverview Lodge Hood River while truck driving from Seattle area. From the outside it looked quaint and not highly appealing. My stay turned out to be very nice. The employee/owner? was very accommodating. I found the rooms to be very clean-and I had my concerns-during this Covid-19 virus time. I was relieved to find a very good conditioned room, well cleaned and stocked. Best of all, I slept VERY well. The bed was good. The room was warm, and quiet. The view of the river, though somewhat blocked by the trees across the street, was very nice. Better yet, I woke up to a sunny day with a full view of Mt. Adams. It is an amazing view from the parking lot. Good service. I will recommend this place. Oh, and the Starbucks is about 1.5 miles east of the lodge closer to the central part of the town. Thank you to the gentleman who helped me get set up for the night. It was a difficult time for him with the Covid-19 as the whole state of Oregon being in "shelter in place" by the Governor. Interesting times we are in, for all businesses and families. Be blessed!

Robin M.

Yelp
This property charged me 2 additional times ($180 & &165) several days apart after my stay was completed. After 6 weeks of discussions they were unwilling or unable to credit my card back and I had to report it as fraud on my card

Dixie S.

Yelp
The place was clean and does have a great view. But, for the price they are falling far short: the hot tub wasn't full, was dirty, and water seemed a bit burny from to much chemicals, yet wasn't officially closed. This was a big reason we stayed here so quite a disappointment. Also, pool doesn't open until 10am amd checkout is at 11... seems like they could give mourning birds an opportunity for quiet enjoyment. Also, no furniture aside from one nightstand, a shelf for the microwave and coffee maker, one lamp, a tv and luggage rack. Very sparse. No mirror aside from small one over sink. No conditioner. No clock or phone. Spotty wifi. Bathroom lights are only assemble with barn style sliding door fully closed, which isn't convenient. If they could work on these things... might be worth $180/nt.

Yelp
We had a good experience here. Good service, very accommodating, reasonable price, and friendly housekeeping team. We booked this place about 3 months prior to the event and got a great deal. Becasue the race started at 9:30AM, we requested late check out. They are very accommodating. Faculty is relatively clean. It's about 10 minutes from the main area and extra 5 minutes to waterfront. Free parking and wifi.

Yelp
BEDBUGS! BEDBUGS! BEDBUGS! I told manager next morning that their room had BEDBUGS he said that they were mosquitos. not only did I not get any kind of discount on my $100 stay (1 night), but the staff was completely dismissive of my experience.

Yelp
In a word, deplorable pretty much sums it up. To break it down, I had to come to Hood River for a funeral. There were no vacancies any where else so we had no other choice. I can see why this place had one room left. To break it down: mold in the bathroom, a dead roach by the Coke machine and the worst - I got tagged by fleas. On the bright side, it wasn't bed bugs. My brother and sister-in-law are PA's and I had them look at it and they confirmed it. So, I was fortunate enough that we all didn't have to take a turpentine bath. Lucky me. Avoid this place at all costs.

Yelp
Room smelled of urine. We booked a pet friendly since we travel with our 11 pound dog. Had both windows open listening to traffic in order to breath. The internet was .47 MPs. Help, can't even stream. 1 queen bed with 1 night stand and one bedside light. I guess only one of us can read.

Lena H.

Yelp
No no no this is not a place you want to stay. We paid $170 dollars for 1 night and our small dog. People next to us was constant pot smokers even if they were doing this in designated area, it smelled. So severely overpriced for what you get. Rooms are ok size but smelly and a noisy spring mattress - one was 'retired' in the back when I walked my dog.........spring beds in 2019? There was a walk area for our dog - which was ok. And finally this hotel is next to a BUSY BUSY road - don't be fooled by the name 'river view lodge' it's nothing like it. We will come back to Mount Hood as it was very pretty but we will never come back to this hotel. At best its a $50 dollar hotel.
google avatar

Kelli H.

Yelp
Clean & fairly comfortable (a new mattress would be nice). Looks like the rooms have been recently updated. Took 2 stars off because of the bed & also because the WiFi is completely tapped out & I'm unable to connect.

Yelp
A bargain at half the price. Ok little pool for the kids, convenient location. Otherwise -- ragtag motel with shredded towels, lumpy bathroom floors, ugly all around. Wish it could have been better, or cheaper, but no.
google avatar

Eva S.

Yelp
This was my first time ever renting a hotel room by myself, so I was a bit anxious about the negative reviews here and on other websites. I am pleased to report that nothing bad happened. I didn't stay long enough to use the TV or combination microwave/fridge, and I didn't bring a computer to test the Internet, but the bathroom appliances worked fine. Nothing was dirty. Without being asked, they gave me the rate for the season quoted on their website as beginning 9/16 on Saturday 9/14, so that was a nice bonus. One thing a little strange was that the light switches for the bathroom are on the wall outside the bathroom, not in the bathroom. I can see how children would use that to play pranks, though that wasn't an issue for me. Another weird thing was that the bathroom had the option of red light that seemed to also be heated. There was also a normal light fixture in the bathroom, though.

Yelp
Giving this place 5 stars not because it is anything fancy but because it was cheap, clean and the staff was super nice. Wanted a place in Hood River to stay the night and cellebrate the new year! We got into town and checked in. Shortly after we got a knock on the door. They had a bottle of sparkling cider, 2 disposable champagne glasses and cupcakes for us! Totally unexpected and much appreciated! Room was as expected for the price and zero flea bites! Didn't see mold growing either. A huge plus that you can bring the dogs along! We would definitely stay at the Riverview Lodge if rolling through Hood River in the future.

Yelp
This place gets four stars from me. No, it's not the Ritz. The room was a bit dated and the towels are not fluffy. Wifi is not good at all. It's basic. It's bare bones. However, for the rate they charged, this place was perfect. Everything was super clean. There was a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator in the room. The office staff were friendly and accommodating.

Nikki V.

Yelp
We had a really nice stay. The Lodge is in a great location near downtown and the disc golf course. The room was very clean, the staff were very kind and accommodating. The pool was fun and offers a mountaintop view. The bed was comfortable. Very affordable and comfortable place. We will stay again next time we are in town.

Yelp
The staff was very polite, the room was extremely clean and the staff was also understanding to what my situation was. I'm very grateful for them without there help I would of been stranded.

Ty R.

Yelp
FILTHY! Sheets were covered in fleas, hair, and other debris. It was obvious they were not changed. Management balked at the idea of of providing a refund for the room. Avoid this place at all cost!

Steve C.

Yelp
Management at this place is incompetent. I had called weeks before my reservation to cancel, which at the time they confirmed was canceled without charge. However, the day of my original reservation they called me to see what time I'd be checking in. When I told them I had already canceled the reservation, they again confirmed I would not be charged but the next day I saw a full nights charge on my credit card. When I called to explain the situation to the manager Ashish, he still refused to refund my card. Terrible customer service, stay away.

Yelp
This is a mom and pop lodge. Nothing fancy here, but very clean, and the room I had was wonderful it had a kitchen and dining room/office as well as a living room and a separate bedroom with a closing door! Perfect for an extended stay!

J R.

Yelp
Hi! I must say that this hotel was the best!! I say this because I came here thinking I had a reservation, but I scheduled the wrong nights. I hate Hotel.com!! I showed up at 10:30 pm, was extremely tired, had a training at 8 am and just wanted to sleep. Anyway, when I got there they only had one room left and it was way to big for my needs. The staff was great and did all they could to accommodate me. I got a room and was able to stay for the three nights I planned, slept great and made it on time for my training at 8 am. To top it all off, the staff went out of there way to make me feel at home and welcome. They suggested restaurants, places in town to get a good beer, and helped me with all of my needs. I could not have asked for more. The rooms were clean with up to date appliances and they were cute!! Thank you Riverview staff!! Sincerely, Jeanna

Yelp
I suggest asking to check & "smell" the room before you pay. If you're just looking for a "bed" & reasonably priced place to stay in Hood River then I guess this place works......."reasonably priced" in the Off Season that is, paid $64/night in April. First smell entering the room will tell you their "non smoking rooms" were obviously smoking rooms at one time. Open windows & run heat/ac & it isn't too bad for "a place to sleep". Had to comb pillow cases & sheets for "hairs"......which SURPRISE.......I FOUND quite a few! Too tired to go find another motel, so I just picked them off with tissue & wore sweats to bed.......AAAAHHHHH! Bathroom sink backed up running water full on, it just drained really slow..........& it took a while to get hot water so start your shower a few minutes before getting in. Shower is some makeshift handicap setup in Rm 10, all it does is get the bathroom floor all wet! Hot tub is a JOKE.........luke warm water & barely has any working jets,......the water basically just barely swirls around........glad I checked it before wasting time suiting up. Room had a nice micro/fridge set up that looked fairly new. I would not even consider touching the in-room coffee maker! 19" TV with good channels, including ESPN/ESPN2 for sports fans like me. WIFI worked great, however it is an unsecured network so be careful. This motel is NOT American owned.......however the front desk lady was nice. I would only stay here again if nothing else was available. Coffee shop to go to is "Ground", on Oak st ., had great coffee, nice service, & FREE refills, so you can just tip the workers instead which is the way it should be for refills. If traveling near Biggs Junction east of The Dalles........I recommend the Hillview Motel............American Owned & much much nicer & cleaner!
google avatar

William K.

Yelp
Clean, cheap room. Very friendly staff! I forgot my cell phone charger, the gal at the front desk loaned me hers! I highly recommend this hotel.
google avatar

Mike Y R.

Yelp
Nice hotel with good beds and all common amenities. The motel is outside of city center and popular with old motorcyclists it seems. It is quiet and well kept. Certainly a reasonable choice for families too. The inside pool is not large but, like the rest of this place, well maintained.
google avatar

Tabor W.

Yelp
The staff is nice, the hotel is clean and the view from the balcony is gorgeous. We will definitely be back. It is an older place that has not been updated but they do a great job at keeping it clean.
google avatar

Ali A.

Yelp
This place neglected to tell me that I was booked for a smoking room. If you are allergic to cigarettes and want to feel like you are sleeping in an ash tray, this is the place for you. And they won't change your room to one where you can actually breathe.

Brittany D.

Yelp
I stayed at this motel a few weeks ago. I was on a low cost adventure, and landed there for the night. You get what you pay for. It's perfect for the price you pay. The pool wasn't working while we were there, but I really only wanted the hot tub. So it worked. The beds aren't actually the size they say they are, but a bed none the less. I slept great. The room had a homey feel to it honestly. When we left the next morning, I had realized that I left a pair of pajama pants and the active stylus to my computer. I called them to give them my card number for them to mail my stuff to me. Instead of making me pay for them to mail it back to me, one of the employees delivered it to me by hand. He was passing through Vancouver, Washington on his way to Seattle. He asked for my address and then surprised me by stopping by to hand deliver my stuff. This restored a bit of my faith in humanity. I figured that my stylus and pants were gone. People in this world can be so cruel. But this was amazing. I couldn't be more grateful to them for bringing me my stuff. I didn't ever expect them to physically bring it to me. They go above and beyond for their customers. The next time I find myself on an adventure, I will stay there as part of my trip. The facility is what you pay for, but the integrity of it's owners and staff, is way more!

Lyle R.

Yelp
The rooms had no soundproofing, could hear everything in the rooms next to and above us. Bathroom fans didn't work Windows stuck closed so they had to be forced open in order to get any ventilation The doors are warped so you have to push hard to close them, and fight the handles to get them open. Bathtub drips and the tiles are moldy. And the fridge doubles as a nightstand next to the bed to you can have the sound of the compressor in your ear. Checking in was quick and easy, but the office closes at 8 so there is no way to report afterhours issues. In other words, stay away unless there is no other choice. And even then it would be worth the drive back to Portland to stay anywhere else.
google avatar

Shelley D.

Yelp
We had two rooms for my husband and I and my kids and grandkids. Both rooms were sparkling clean and charming. Plenty of lighting, good Wi-Fi, lots of TV channels, bathrooms clean and no issues. The staff was friendly and helpful and the bonus was the pool and hot tub. We recommend this motel!!

Beth R.

Yelp
I would never stay at this hotel. When I made my reservation it was quoted a price and told I would have a balcony. When I checked in the price was almost $20 higher and no balcony. The room had severe cigarette smoke smell and when I looked for the TV guide I found half eaten food that was growing in a drawer. Needless to say, we left immediately and got our money back. I would post a picture of what I found but I don't know how. Anyway, not good and do not recommend this hotel.

Mike C.

Yelp
An adequate experience and decent value, a few issues with appliances and bath fixtures notwithstanding. My second-floor room was clean and sunny, the location very convenient. WiFi worked. Unfancy, but no reasons to avoid.

Gina H.

Yelp
These people have the worst customer service of any hotel in the area. They were rude to me over the phone and even ruder in person. The rooms are dingy and out of date. The TV didn't work, the windows all had broken screens, and the whole place reeks of mold. All this to offer, and it's almost as expensive as the nice downtown hotels. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
