4 Great Haitian Restaurants in Paris, France - AFAR

"Overlooking Rue Saint-Denis, this spot combines a modern black-and-white facade with an interior of cobalt and yellow walls and straw-hat–covered light fixtures to create a welcoming Caribbean atmosphere. The name references black djon djon mushrooms and the signature black rice made from them, typically paired with lamb chops, chicken, or fish. Other highlights include beef mafé, a creamy beef stew with peanut sauce and stewed vegetables; cocktails named for Haitian cities such as the Jacmel (coconut milk, mango, and pineapple, available with or without alcohol); and bottles of Prestige, Haiti’s national beer." - Mariette Williams

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Riz Djondjon is a true gem in Paris. The moment you walk in, you can feel the pride and authenticity behind every detail. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and alive with the spirit of Haitian culture, and the staff treats you more like family than just guests. The food is outstanding. The namesake dish, Riz Djondjon (black mushroom rice), is cooked to perfection — rich, earthy, and deeply flavorful, paired with tender meats and vegetables that balance the plate beautifully. Every bite feels like home cooking elevated to restaurant quality. The flavors are bold, authentic, and unforgettable. Portions are generous, so you leave fully satisfied, not still hungry like at many other spots in the city. Service was excellent. The staff guided us through the menu with enthusiasm, happy to explain dishes and share their favorites. They brought an energy that made the evening even more enjoyable. The drinks paired perfectly with the meal, and dessert rounded out the night in the sweetest way. Riz Djondjon is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience of culture, flavor, and hospitality. Whether you’re Haitian and craving that authentic taste of home, or you’re new to the cuisine and want to discover it, this is the place to go. Paris is lucky to have it.

IF YOU ARE IN PARIS, YOU MUST VISIT THIS SPOT. I had to pay for a very expensive Uber to get here, but it was so worth it. I was first greeted by the music and then the smells. A reservation is highly recommended, especially if you wish to sit upstairs. The fish was well done, moist, and perfectly seasoned. Yum! I was offered three different types to choose from. Everything was perfect 🥰... The plantains, the rice, and the sauce. My companion had the beef with okra, and it didn't disappoint. This was one of the best culinary experiences I've had at a Haitian restaurant. Music is continuously playing, and eventually, it spills out to the street so passers-by can join in. Yes, there's sidewalk seating. I will be back. Enjoy 😉!

The food is very tasty and the portions are very generous. The salad is one the best ever with some spice added into it. A few items were out of stock which was disappointing and the wines aren’t good, I’d skip those next time.

Haitian friends thought the "banan passe" was too thick and not crunchy enough, and a few items were out of stock. we otherwise thought Food was good. Nice location, but service was a bit slow when we visited given a single server and multiple groups dinning both upstairs and downstairs.

Food was amazing. The beef pastels were good and came with a really yummy sauce. Our entrees were equally amazing. It was our first time having Haitian food and we absolutely loved it!

The food transported me straight to the Caribbean. The flavors and textures of the food were excellent, service was fast and the restaurant has a very nice interior decor. They also give you a generous portion as well. I am now really interested in trying more Haitian food.
