"Overlooking Rue Saint-Denis, this spot combines a modern black-and-white facade with an interior of cobalt and yellow walls and straw-hat–covered light fixtures to create a welcoming Caribbean atmosphere. The name references black djon djon mushrooms and the signature black rice made from them, typically paired with lamb chops, chicken, or fish. Other highlights include beef mafé, a creamy beef stew with peanut sauce and stewed vegetables; cocktails named for Haitian cities such as the Jacmel (coconut milk, mango, and pineapple, available with or without alcohol); and bottles of Prestige, Haiti’s national beer." - Mariette Williams
